How to Upgrade from Beta to Stable without Wipe? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

Hi,
is there any chance to upgrade from Global Beta to current Global Stable-Rom without wiping my phone?
Thanks in advance

Sure you can do anything but you will end up having some issues. Just backup everything and start fresh. Your device will run better and have less problems.

[Q] Rom Backup Advice

I am needing advice with backing up my Cyanogenmod 11 stuff. How do you guys do your backups, enabling you to flash a newer version etc and not lose your data and setup preferences?
I flashed CM11-0303 (and appropriate kernel), then did un update to 0307 and re-flashed the kernel again. This causes major issues and I had to reflash 0303 again from scratch. I was going to only start updating with official CM updates but apparently you can't install an official release update over a nightly install. Is this true?
Thanks, my phone is an S4 i9500. Hope you guys can help because I now want to reflash a new official release without losing my data and setup preferences.
:good:
Sorry, I just realised I posted this in the wrong section!

Backing up ROM?

I'm getting an update on my S7 for whatever reason. Currently the phone is pretty stable for me without giving me headaches like for others. I want to know how to backup the current version of the ROM before the update. Is it even possible without root?

Dual Boot for OP 6?

I've seen that dual booting is possible on some phones. Was curious to know if that is possible on the OnePlus 6? I would love to be able to have DP3 of Android P to mess around with. Restart, and use my stable stock rooted OS for work / productivity.

Probably possible later in the future, but not until a stable or official TWRP. You could take a nandroid of your ROM, then install Android P, then take a nandroid of that too, to restore whenever you please. ALWAYS be sure to disable secure lock screen in settings before you backup any TWRP or before trying to reboot recovery to flash or restore any ROM. It causes an issue with decryption that will make the phone inacessable without wiping entire data partition in TWRP.
Just a thought. If I have TWRP installed, I can essentially have current rom release on 1 slot, and have DPP on the other. Then I just switch between slots as I want. Only problem with this is the update process to newer release rom's. Is this correct?

Open Beta

To those currently using it, how stable is the newest Open Beta? And if it's stable is it worth trying out?
I've always been rooted with TWRP. This is the first time I've used stock. The last time I updated I used the Oxygen updater app.
Will it wipe data if I switch to Open Beta? and if I decide to switch back to stable will I need to wipe data?
Only reason I ask is because last week some people on beta received a stable version and I guess it messed things up for some of them.
Thanks

miui_SURYAEEAGlobal_V12.0.6.0.RJGEUXM_246b1aa34f_11.0.zip

Hi everyone,
I read in the latest XDA-newsletter that finally Poco had released the MIUI 12 update. This firmware update was considered to be more important than an Android version 11 upgrade.
Can anyone tell me if the .zip file: miui_SURYAEEAGlobal_V12.0.6.0.RJGEUXM_246b1aa34f_11.0.zip (found on XDA) can be used to install, but without having to lose all the personal data and apps?
Thanks for your help.
Greetings,
Lepapron
Hi. I don't quite understand what you are trying to say but V12.0.6.0.RJGEUXM is Android 11 based rom. It also is the Europe version not Global. Theoretically if currently you're on, lets say 12.0.7 or 12.0.8 Global or Europe you'll not lose any personal data and apps if you flash this. It should be treated by your device as an update. If you decide to go back to your OG firmware though you'll have to do FORMAT DATA or you'll end up in a boot loop.
To be clear. I am not advising you to do this and do not guarantee it'll succeed.

Thank you.
Although you did not quite understand what I meant, you answered my question perfectly well. Don't do it..! I won´t, because I downloaded the file as a zip file here on XDA, so when I unzip it, I assume my POCO X3 NFC will not see it as a regular update. And the foresight of a boot loop is not a very prosperous sight, so I'll just wait until it arrives as OTA.
Well done, that was very helpful.
