Screen popping? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Has anyone had an issue with their screen popping when you unlock the phone? It's almost like the top layer of glass is separating from the next layer down. I only hear it when I'm unlocking the phone with the in-screen fingerprint reader.... especially if I exaggerate it by putting as much ofy thumb surface on as possible.
It seems cosmetic at this point, but I'm worried it will get worse. I've babied the phone. Hardly ever out of its case, never dropped, etc.

Similar enough thread here, seems to be an occurring problem at this rate. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/screen-lift-t3931057

Thanks. I searched. Not sure how I didn't find that. Wondering if I should call them. I would only want to exchange if they would cross-ship. Never had to send a phone back to them before. Guess it's worth calling/chatting with them.

I did. They'll cover it, but I have to send it back. I fought with them for an hour about it... trying to get an exception to the process (ie: cross-ship/replace). They wouldn't budge.

That's a pity. Well at least they're taking it back. Hopefully it's a quick process.

Front screen 'wobble'

I've had my touch pro for nearly two weeks now. I'm liking it a lot.
Now, in my unfortunate hamfistedness, I've managed to drop it. Didn't seem like it'd caused much of a problem.
But I've noticed that the front screen 'wobbles' a bit. Not much, and not enough to be particularly annoying, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to tighten it up again, so it stopped doing that?
Mine has done this from new.
With the device in your right hand with screen facing up the slide part of the screen wobbles on the left side.
Annoying.
Well, I must confess I didn't notice whether it did or not initially, so I'm only assuming it didn't.
It's pretty trivial, and doesn't really affect anything, but ... well, would rather it didn't, really

ok....mine too... but it seems most sliders have that. it was very tight the first few days, but after quite some sliding the screen is slightly off center to the right shifted. and it wobbles a bit.
my kaiser had the same issue....but i had to drop that one for that...
I too have the same problem. was wondering if one of the cases that has the keyboard cover would prevent this wobble or some sort of skin. Thanks and sorry for bringing back such an old thread.

[Q] Just got my TF, can't put together Charger...

I know how it SHOULD work, but it seems it takes much too much effort to put the US-plug attachment into the charger... I put it on and slide it like 80% of the way and it gets stuck and even with a lot of force it won't go in. I don't want to break my charger, what should I do?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I was a bit worried about the amount of force required myself, but it did connect without breaking anything for me. Just keep pushing!
Had exactly the same problem with my UK plug here and I actually managed to bend the little T shaped part on the damn plug!!! It still wouldn't go in so got a small flat metal file and gently filed the T shape so it made it slightly smaller and then it clipped together. Seems the notch that receives the T shape is a little too small so had to do some DIY lol.

I was a bit worried about something breaking, but I had to employ some violence as well. I suspect the attachment may never be removable again.

I think thats how it was made, since the plugs flip up to hide.
Yeah... it took an INSANE amount of force to snap it in.
I, too, was seriously worried of breaking it, but in the end it clicked together... and I'm sure I will never ever take it apart

It is removable, trust me, but you have to push at the point it says 'push' on the plug! I missed this at first and spent a good few minutes of tugging, scared I'd break the thing!

[Q] Have my tf700 for about two weeks, screen flex noticed

Hello,
I've bought my infinity two weeks ago and when I unpacked it I had noticed that on the bottom left side of the panel the screen is popping out a little bit, something like screen flex.
Yesterday, I've noticed that the left side of the panel has a flex as well.
I am really annoyed by this, since OK, I've paid a lot of money for this and now I might have to send it for a repair.
I've talked with the asus support in Greece, and the guy told me to submit a form that he would send me via email and a courier would get it from my house and it would be sent to Czech Republic for service and it would be delivered to me in a maximum of ten days.
Should I send it?
Is it really a big problem? (in example, will the whole panel pop out eventually :silly: )
I though of keeping it for some time and if it gets worse, then sending it..
What do you think?
Thank you for your time,
Sorry for the big post..
did you bu it from a store, or online? if from online, send it back to the company and have them send you another. this might be quicker than sending to ASUS.
I bought it from a store in Greece..I called them and they referred me to Asus support in Greece..
Is this screen flexing a big problem or I can leave with it?

They won't
I might keep it for a while..I've stopped noticing it too much..The thing is, if it's something normal that did occur from the manufacturing process then I'm OK with it. I just don't want to end up holding the tablet at one hand and its screen at the other

From what I've read this is very normal for the Infinity. A lot of people have had similar problems with screen flex or even screen separation. Unfortunately most of them when the receive a replacement, the replacement is either the exact same problem or is even worse. So there is definitely something with the Gorilla Glass and their manufacturing process causing this that they haven't ironed out yet.
From what I've read if it's minor then it shouldn't be too big a problem (some people have the Gorilla Glass almost peeling off). I just got mine and notice the screen sticks up slightly above one of the dock connection points on mine, but knowing the problems others have had I'll use mine for a few days to see if it's worth returning.
So while you can certainly return if you want, considering what you paid it's understandable. But just know that the replacement you get is likely to have at least the same problem, and might actually be worse then the one you sent in. Another somewhat common problem is light bleed, which I think I have on mine also.

I've noticed the same across the bottom in mine. It appears exactly where the docking latched are located. I'm no longer going to leave the dock attached. I'll hook it when I really need it then remove and put it aside. I'd say the dock is putting too much strain on the glass. The docking hinge on mine is VERY tight to flip;p open and closed as well

Screen lift?

So I got my 8GB/256GB Pro a couple days ago during the launch event. Next I day i notice that when I press the home screen where the fingerprint is located and the opposite side near the top of the screen I hear as if the glue underneath is not sticking and sounding like the screen is lifting, or some part beneath it is lifting. Anyone else experiencing this? Its rather annoying.
how did you get it at the launch event? i was there, and as far as i'm aware, it wasn't available for purchase there.

true, I was just curious. either way, that really doesn't sound like intended behavior, so i would definitely go right back there and exchange it lol

Yea it was at the flagship T-Mobile store in SF. As for the screen sounding like its lifting is only when the phone isn't warm. Its really bad when I wake up in the morning when it hasn't been used as the adhesive has probably cooled. I just hope I can prove it to the rep when I take it for exchange.
So I went back to the store and apparently their floor model is doing the same thing. Some experienced similar issues, I wonder if the first round of batches have these issues with most of them. I didn't exchange it, but it appears this is starting to become a common issue.

yikes, don't get it wet, if the screen is moving that means the seal is bad for sure.
Well they do call it a fluid display ?
No issues here, but I have the unlocked model.
I have the same issue (kind of). In my case it only happens once or twice a day. But it is really annoying. Im planning to use hairdryer and some pressure to strengthen the adhesive. Is that a bad idea? Has anyone got a better solution? I travel a lot and and the country im currently in does not have any Oneplus service. So sending device to service is not an option for me.

I have the exact same problem with my OnePlus 7T Pro. First it was only when I pressed harder, now its nearly every thime I touch that area. I gonna contact OnePlus for RMA.
Add me as another one with the issue. Ordered right after launch directly from OnePlus. Anywhere from 2-3x a day, to as many as 5-6.
I made a Video of the Problem, feel free to use it, if you want to:
https://youtu.be/j9Exg2CUs3Y
I forgot that I canceled the order from the OnePlus-Shop and bought it from Amazon. (faster delivery)
This weekend I sent it back. (it was in the timespan for free retirement of the order, I also told them about the defect)
Now I will wait till I got my money back and order a new one.
I need root and because of that my device wasn't really used till now. I still use my OP5T for daily.
If a "official" Rooting-Solution is out I will order a new OP7TPro.

Charging issue w/ Galaxy A20

In the past week, this phone has stopped enabling "fast charge" and now, it takes all day (literally) to charge the phone. Also, battery draining is quite rapid (IMO). I've had the phone 2 months now and it's starting to have other issues as well. I have a question.... is it possible that a minor crack in the screen would have anything to do with the charging issues? BTW, the crack developed within 10 days of purchase. I did not drop the phone but perhaps, may have sat on it while in back pocket, but I question this for it's "supposed" the have Gorilla glass3 and I would think it would be more resistant to cracking in such a manner? Anyway, looking for answer, mostly, to charging issue. THANX Rick

If you put your whole body weight on the phone while bending it (that is, having it in your back pocket while sitting), why are you surprised that it cracked? Sturdy doesn't mean indestructible. And you were asking about custom roms for that phone so if you did something wrong in that regard it wouldn't be surprising if you had problems. Return it for a new one, if they will even take it back. They cover defects not abuse so don't be shocked if they tell you that its your problem.
RE: pwilson33(why does that sound familiar?)
I guess your not aware of durability of Gorilla glass 3, as touted by the manufacturer. But, I'll do some more "checking" and ask them(Gorilla Glass). Funny thing, the phone started charging, in reasonable time frame, albeit without "fast charge". Leads me to believe it's the charger(?). That too, I'll check out with a dealer. I was asking about a ROM. Haven't employed one as yet. Going to inquire at Samsung if it would be alright to revert to Android 9 so that I can continue to use the FM receiver. Strange...but had no problems until a few weeks after "upgrading" to Android 10

Guess you're not familiar with things breaking if you put too much stress on them. You can't go back to 9 unless you root the phone and load a custom ROM which voids the warranty, so you're then out of luck for a warranty replacement for the phone you broke.
Personally I'd not trust a battery that had been bent enough to crack the phone. But you obviously know everything, so have fun.

Thanx for replying. Damn, did not know that.(" You can't go back to Android 9") Well, gonna have to figure out some other way(?) Hopefully, there is an app out there I haven't discovered.

My fast charging works fine if I use the proper charger and a short lead.
Did you do a reset after updating? Lots of issues the pop up after an update are due to leftover data messing with things.
Move your files off and give that baby a factory reset real quick.

I didn't say it wasn't ok did I? I said I wouldn't trust it and I wouldn't. Like said, if you bent it enough to crack the screen a LiOn battery could get the foil exposed and it would go up. Was there a word that was too hard for you?
And if you want to have a comment "blown out of the water", what about your junk regarding gorilla glass? Yea, I'm sure you have NEVER EVER heard of ANYONE BREAKING THEIR SCREEN BEFORE, RIGHT?
Want FM Radio on A10? Nextradio app in the play store. And before you moan about anything, your radio working has nothing to do with Android, but what the firmware allows from the vendor.
Charging Issue
Re: ninjainabag
I was just returning here to state that I'd just done what you suggested. Geez... DUH, why didn't I think of/do that sooner. Yes, now charging is working as supposed to. THANK YOU. How do I change the "header" to solved? Hope this can help someone else :good:
RE: pwilson33
If YOU want your comments "blown out of the water", keep making comments on subjects you don't know what your talking about. NextRadio does not work on android 10. Again, I did not say the radio didn't work...read again...I said I couldn't find an app that would access the FM chip. The apps I've investigated all use i-net access. And..."my junk regarding gorilla glass"...you've already proved you know know little to nothing about it. If you can't help out on a thread, which your unable to do, just stay off it.

Try again. NextRadio works fine on A10, and have it installed and working. Since you appear to have trouble reading, note the part about the firmware on the phone, and some vendors disabling it. If its disabled it doesn't work with any app. And spouting off about it being gorilla glass is supposed to mean what? Or are you seriously trying to say that NO ONE HAS EVER BROKEN THEIR PHONE SCREEN since gorilla glass came out? Because if they have I obviously know more about the possibility of it breaking than you do.
And I'm pretty confident that I've seen many broken phones of all types. Maybe you should get out more.
I've not found an app that can access the FM chipset. Next Radio is defunct now and doesn't work on And. 10. I'm going to mark this thread closed...as soon as I find the proper "tool" to do so.

Love how you ignore what you don't feel like answering. Can't wait for your follow up where you insult people and act like you're 9, because you don't have any rational responses.
NextRadio is not 'defunct', and received an update not too long ago. And again it works fine on A10. Did you not understand when you were told very, VERY simply (maybe not simply enough for you, though), that unless your provider ALLOWS that feature to be turned on, it won't work no matter what the app??
And can't you answer the simple question of whether or not you've ever heard of someone dropping their phone and breaking the (in your mind) ABSOLUTELY UNBREAKABLE gorilla glass, that you claim to know all about?
