Hello, does anyone have fingerprint issues? My XZ1 never missed a beat. This one hardly works. Wondering if it's software or hardware problem?
Thank you
same problem here. sometimes works well, sometimes not at all.
Hmm I wonder if the Xperia 1 users have the issue

Thanks for the link I think it's solved now. Still not as good as the XZ1 scanner but I found that my thumb was slightly angled under normal circumstances so I added more prints and so far so good

As far as I can tell you have two unlock states. You can't use the power button to wake and then use the fingerprint sensor to unlock you can only use the fingerprint sensor to wake and unlock.
If you use the power button to wake then you have to use the pin method to unlock. This is what I've found.
I've found it's usually if the sensor gets dirty, which seems to be quite a lot. a quick clean usually gets it working straight away

I put my finger along the side of the phone while making my scans, for me it works almost every time now.
Previously I had my finger on a line away from the side using my thumb nail to nail direction now I use from top to middle which gives a better result

It's funny because mine is very good (9210 model) and I came from OnePlus 7t pro where I hated the in screen finger print reader
Must have been firmware dependent as mine is almost perfect now since upgrade to android 10. Anyone else have problems?

Clear your hand and the sensors place on the phone. I have no problems with it.
The latest android 11 update appears to turn fingerprint registration and usage into a better experience....
I've had problems with previous updates either lost functionality all together or sporadic usage.
Its nore more accurate than I ever remember.
Having lived with this for almost 2 years it looks like a combo of hardware and software. IE the software driver doesn't work fast enough to recognise the fingerprint and will occasionally miss a beat. I re-program after updating firmware updates and depending on how big the update is/ Security based and find I have to wipe fingerprints and PIN/Password too, for the fingerprint sensor to be re-discovered and then use the pre-setup program app which I have to use slowly 2 seconds between detections otherwise the app fails to detect the sensor and stops working again so I have to reboot the phone to re-detect and start programming the next fingerprint.
This handset has a bad fingerprint driver/app for the latest Android me thinks.

So, the Android M launched and it sports fingerprint recognition, thats awesome.
Our phone do have the hardware, but what about accessibility?
I mean when samsung pushes the M update to S6, will the scanner use Google APIs or Samsung APIs for the recognition?
If it uses Samsung APIs then I think we may not be able to use the services provided by google for the fingerprint scanner.
Also, a lot of Devs will be creating apps based on fingerprint recognition using Google's API, will our phone scanner be able to make use of it?
What do you think guys...
Im sure it will be supported. Granted there are not many devices that actually have a scanner but but im sure google would want those that do to be able to access the new finger print features/services so would make an effort to support all hardware

I believe they're working on the StockAndroid APIs on the next big update.
Samsung had to use its own version since Google did not have APIs, yet.

I would love to see Samsung's take on Google's Fingerprint API. The tap-fingerprint to wake up thingy featured on the new Nexus' while the device is asleep is a big thumbs up for me.

Well, I was watching the recap of the Google press event awhile ago and the guy who presented the new Nexus 5X and 6P tapped the Fingerprint dimple and the device woke up instantly. No need to press the power button then tap the fingerprint scanner to unlock.

Not seen anything on the 6P yet, my other half loved her old nexus. Might be worth me having a look as Christmas is coming and her S5 is falling apart.

My S6 already does this :/ turn on wake on home press.
as for samsung using googles api, they will. Why would they reinvent the wheel when they can do less work, which decreases the chance for bugs and shortens production time.

Its a recap of the event. Watch closely at the part when the guy(Forgive me for not knowing his name. Yep, shame shame. xD) tapped his index finger at the dimple. The device wakes up and automatically unlocks the device.
Edit: BTW, the Nexus 5X packs the same fingerprint sensor.

Well, on the new Nexus' you don't need to press the power button then tap the fingerprint scanner to unlock your device, just place your finger on the scanner to wake up and straight unlock your device. Wouldn't that be handy if Samsung can implement the same technique where all you need to do place your chosen finger on the scanner without pressing the home button then straight unlock.

I hope samsung will continue with Google APIs so that we will be able to use all the fingerprint features that Android M will be offering
Per this patch note http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/lg-v10-update/?skiptag=1 looks like Verizon will be getting marshmallow on their LG V10 beginning today. Will other carriers follow? I have reached out to T-Mobile for more information on the progress of theirs.

fingerprint scanner borked after update?
scanner doesn't unlock phone unless phone was locked by the timer..? if i turn off the screen or close it with the power button, it won't unlock with the finger print scanner... anyone else? (i've dropped and readded fingerprints, both as a result of deleting and readding as well as adding them as a result of turning off and back on the pin code)
is it me or is this real life?

Experiencing the same issue here...
After a reboot I cannot unlock with fingerprint, after the initial unlock it works fine.
I know for a fact my carrier will not be getting this update. I use a regional carrier and they never push out updates, the only way I'm ever able to update my phone is if a Verizon update works on it, or a bootloader unlock becomes available and I can flash an updated ROM.

I really don't notice much different after the update. I wonder if lg/Verizon blocked some of the features. For example, I don't have the option to format the SD card as internal storage.

For those having fingerprint unlock troubles here, I'll simply note that in the Verizon V10 forum they've only been reporting improved fingerprint scanners. Not sure why you both are having that issue, but it by no means common, and it is unlikely that solely the update caused the problem.
This update screwed up the bluetooth again that they fixed in the little scanner update a few months back, it no longer will play music from my 2014 Chevy Silverado via mylink, it connects fine, shows the music playing, but no sound will come from the speakers
Carrier models are being updated ahead of international variant, coming from HTC I see this very oddly.

The fingerprint scanner didn't unlock consistently after the update for me, I was running Nova prime, I reverted back to the stock launcher and the issue disappeared.
the issue with the fingerprint scanner is due to nova launcher... if you remove it, it will work just fine... until nova updates, thats the only option!
Hi,
got 1 more issue and 1 more question.
1. I love tap to wake function. Had it on all my Lumias and it was awesome.
Now in Z5 with tap to wake on I got phone constantly ON in my pocket!!! WRRRRR!!!!
What is going on and how can I prevent it?
What is the point of this feature if phone turns on by itself every minute?
2. Just got new SD card - how do I move more than 1 app at the time from internal storage to sd card?
In W10m I could select few aps and simply move them - here I do not see such option
No one has such issue with phone getting unlocked in a pocket?

There're loads of people reporting this problem - just take a look around this forum. You'll just have to turn it off like the rest of us do. Total garbage feature as currently implemented.
Ok, thanks. I cant believe old and cheap Lumias do it perfectly and Z5 cant
Since Z5 in on a market long time and problem has not been solved I guess Sony does not care?

You're right, this issue has been ongoing since the very release of this device. I don't think this will ever get solved as there are maybe more pressing issues with the z5.
I would try a third-party pocket detection implementation.
I have used with good results: gravity screen, glimpse notifications. Not sure of HiLocker..

Also consider Smart Pocket Guard. I've been using it for three weeks and it seems to work fine. Only problem is it doesn't auto-start on boot.
I'm plagued by this bug too. Any idea if it is related to the screen touch hardware?

I finally made the Switch from Huawei P8 Max to this phone and I am loving every second if it. As for the question/issue,I have this issue but I I think this is more a feature than an issue as it appears to be a data synchronisation indicatior like the hard drive blinking light on laptops/desktop. At least this is my observation and I hope it is not something else as it only happens on my phone whilst data is being downloaded/apps installed on 3g/4g speeds.
It's an issue. Try to put your finger on the antenna under back button while you are using 4g connection and the key will stop blinking

Good quality assurance team must be sitting at Asus Factory. Never saw such a thing in any phone as a feature so its definitely an issue
I really loved this phone before I discovered this issue, and I discovered bad sound quality through wired or Bluetooth headset

Himmm! I now see your point. It appears to be an issue but it does not bother me given the benefits of this phone compared to my previously owned Huawei P8 Max. I hope that with Android 7 update all these and any other issues will be ironed out. On the bright side this issue/blinking light is a data activity light so you know that data is being processed rather than waiting for other indicators etc....

Nice One! Agree. Someone's BUG is someone else's FEATURE. Compared to my previously owned Huawei P8 Max, this device is on a different level and when Root and Bootloader Unlock becomes available, this phone will be even more valuable so can't and will not complain.
I got the same issue. Back button flashing. Usually when browsing chrome (loading page). So is this hardware issue? Quite annoying actually I want the light to go off forever permanently. Possible?
Does anyone feel this phone's touch sensitivity not good ? I sometimes touch on the screen and it didn't feed back ! don't know if its' a sofware bug or the phone has problem?

You're right, we hope in the seriousness of Huawei!!!
I'm with MHA-L29C432B126 and i have the same feeling specially on Mate 9 sides left and right , it doesn't do anything when pushing an icon, i'm obliged to use navigation icons to get an answer.
It's software problem
As they wanted to make that phone doesn't react to accidentally touch, and as is something new, it's not perfect. Probably will be fix soon or later.
I don't know if just some phones meet this problem or this is a software bug that can appears on any phone?

Nope...I just peel off screen protector but just same problem..mate9 sides left and right not sensitive.
Yup, same problem, especially near the edges/corners.
Should be a software problem and hopefully it will be fixed.
Unfortunately I've discovered the same. Touch sensitivity is letting this phone down. In the middle of a game touch suddenly doesn't want to work when using a finger touch joystick, and just when I need it most! This sucks! We should not be having problems with this touch screen. It's fundamental. I love the phone but If this one thing is not fixed I'm sending the phone back. I can't have it fail on me.
