please check the apps that causes the battery drain and then restrict them from running on the background. I also have Xperia 5.

It seems normal in my case
You can always perform a factory reset but please make backup first.

Yea, overnight standby 'mobile Network standby' will show 1-3%, but my battery drained around 5-10%, and I checked gsam battery monitor, no other apps is consuming the battery.

It's a known issue. They apparently added the wrong power draw amount when calculating the percentages so those are wrong but it's not really using more battery, just misreporting.

Do you know if this works only with a custom ROM or can I just use the non-Odin root method?

I used the non-odin route and just installed it on mine. Cell standby dropped from about 30% to only 3% after install.

So with that calculation being incorrect does that result in your battery life draining faster? I just got mine on 9/22 and battery is draining significantly due to cell standby (cell radio being at the top of the list) I heard through a friend that this will be fixed with jelly bean update?
Can anyone shed some light as I just switched over from iPhone 4 and this whole battery issue is disappointing, thanks!

Battery not draining faster. Percentage reported in stats is wrong. 30% shown is actually 3% and should be at bottom of list.

Thanks for the reply prdog..one more question cuz I just came back from the Verizon Store and they can give me a new one if I go back since I just got this on Saturday..
So the reported stats is wrong as you stated in Battery setting..so thats the reason why I see my battery level indicator draining? Because it does drain pretty fast.
yestaerday the battery usage of android system was 92% then i factory restored it at first it was okay but then a few hours later when i installed some apps it again consumes about 70% battery..
Use an app like BetterBatteryStats or GSam battery monitor to get more detailed information on what's using your battery.
use any battery app that gives you more detailed look at bateary use

Is your overall battery consumption normal? High pergentage of Android system may be shown simply because other apps aren't consuming much battery.

Very USEFUL comment (loljk)
@usvimal : Install a battery monitor app like GSAM or BBS and look for culprits under Kernel/Partial wakelocks.
I usually have 59 mins on Android OS CPU usage per charge cycle, so almost 8 hours is a bit much.

Strange, but those stats actually look OK, and 5.5%/h with 38% screen on is still OK. Maybe you need to let the information gather further.

Try this, it worked for me. Wifi settings seemed to be the problem. Changed the frequency from 'automatic' to '2.4 Ghz only' in the advanced wifi setting.. Now all Normal. I almost returned the phone thinking of a hardware issue.
Hello guys,
I have a problem with my new Galaxy S7. The battery is draining way too fast.. I'm constantly getting around 2 hours of SOT a day and the battery lasts about 12 hours... I'm desperate... I have tried everything from turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, uninstalling apps to even factory resetting the phone. The problem is still there.. Please help me
BTW, my battery level is dropping 1% every 2-3 minutes

So after resetting it and without installing any app you still have 4-5% battery drain per hour on standby ?

No, I have 1% drain every 2 minutes when using the phone on light tasks( Internet, messaging, Facebook and email). Little to no battery drain is visible when not using the phone. But I can'tell get more than two hours of SOT on a full charge

I'll suggest you do something that worked for me, charge your phone to 100% and then restart it. Idk if it will work for you but tell me if you see any difference.

Facebook app is draining battery like that for me at the moment.
Uninstalled Facebook and it's still there... Nothing funky in battery stats apart from high usage on Android System
Update: just done another factory reset, the problem still persists

That's weird, try disabling everything you don't need like Bluetooth, NFC if you haven't already. Turn screen brightness lower, disable fast charging and "nearby device scanning", optimize the apps in settings/battery. Then do a restart and see if it makes any difference.
Hi mate,
I was in the same boat on Monday with a faulty device that overheating and kept freezing.
What I found was I had a weird bug, and 'Mediaserver' was constantly the biggest battery drain.
So saying that, when you go to your battery stats, what is your phone telling you is the main culprit?
Try this: charge your device to 100% restart it and then unplug the charger.

Hello,
The main battery consumer when looking at the battery stats is Android System.
Take a look at this
After a couple days of owning the S7, I checked battery usage of apps
OM Customise = 10%
KNOX = 10%
I've installed Package Disabler Pro, and disabled both the above, charging the phone now and will see if it makes any difference
If the above is true, that should give me 20% back by the end of the day

DL Gsam battery monitor or Better battery stats so u can get more detailed info to see where drain is coming from. Charge to 100 or reboot then leave alone till morning.
