So I was on OOS 10 and now on LineageOS 10 and having the same issue. The storage becomes slow, when plugging my phone into my PC it takes about 5 mins to search the whole phone storage. I can't save screenshots it says I don't have enough storage space. Anyone else have this issue? What was your fix?

Hello Everyone,
I have a 16G card, its fast and yes a lot of files, about 6G on the card.
Running the stock VS update.
It takes about 20 mins or so to finish the scanning process.
Its a real pian in the neck...
Anyway to turn this action off?
Regards,
I also have the same problem , updated to TNT 4.20. scanning sdcard never goes away.
I am in the same boat as billygtab. I am running the standard ROM with the xda-forum enhancement pack. I have a 16 GB card on board and it takes about 15 minutes before the "scanning SD card" message goes away. It doesn't seem to interfere with anything but is kind of annoying.
maybe has something to do with the speed/quality of the card?
I use a kingston class 4 8gb that always has at least 6gb on it and the scanning sd message only stays up for a minute tops.
running TnTlite 4.2.0 with no modifications (kernal, etc)
I don't know how to turn it off but you can stop it by:
Going to settings, applications, system applications, media storage and clear data. It worked for me.

Thats an aweful long time for an SDCard Scan at boot up.
I'm running CM7Stable and the Scan doesnt take more than a minute or so.
I mean I've never timed it but it does finish the scan pretty quickly..
I have my Xoom connected to my PC, I have the right drivers installed and it shows up as "Xoom" in My Computer.
I am trying to copy a file (about 300mb) to the internal storage, it starts doing it and then the progress hangs and after a while it says it can't do it.
Then Windows Explorer stops responding.
Also, if I just browse the internal storage through my PC it is all very slow, I have Titanium Backup and the folder has 231 items in it and Windows Explorer takes about 30 seconds to display them all.
I have tried using the Motorola micro-usb lead in case that would help, but it didn't. I have also tried using different USB ports on the PC, I read that using the front ports could cause problems so I am using a back port but it is still the same.
The "external" SD card is responding at normal speeds. Is it just that the internal SD is very slow? I am pretty sure I chose to use it when I ran Antutu and it got good speeds.
Any help please?
I am using TeamEOS Wingray.
I just browsed the internal storage then went to SD card, then went back to internal storage and it seems to be working better now, it doesn't hang if I do this. It still transfers very slowly though.

The Xoom is functioning as MTP device not mass storage. That is the way android is set up (for tabs???) and that may have something to do with it.
Thanks, maybe that is it.

I have noticed that you have to let windows finish enumerating the files/folders before it starts acting at normal speeds. If you have a bunch of files on your internal storage it can definitely take a while... especially after months of accumulating garbage files from various apps that never clean themselves up...

Yea, it is still a bit slow but more in the realms of normality that way.
So transferring 4 gigs from pc to internal via usb took 1 hour. No biggie but then when I moved that 4 gigs from one folder to another on the internal it took...1 hour? Am I missing something here? It's on the same drive. I just moved it from the eBook folder to the kindle folder because Kindles not finding it. I didn't think this would be an all day thing. Any apps for checking internal file transfer speed?
And I presume because I'm cut/pasting so many files at once it keeps crashing saying unable to move file, stop transfer or skip file dialog. This is really annoying...even selecting multiple files in the same folder and right clicking causes it to freeze and stop responding.
This has a lot to do with MTP, since sucks for speed compared to normal mass storage mode.
i can comfirm aswell that it has to do with mtp. i hate it so much. :-\
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda premium
Wow
400 megabytes, 8 minutes remaining. That's crap.
huh thats odd. Last night i transferred a 13 gig movie from my pc to my tf300 and it said there was 1 hour left. took 15 mins. im on AOKP build 40 so idk if that makes transfers faster or?
Hi, and sorry my english!
I got my new mi4i phone and I have some problem.
I get force close messages (media process) the phone lagging and I can't copy anything to the internal storage, it shows me 0 Mb free space. I try to make factory reset and it look like everythings ok. I have 26GB free space (32GB version) and very fast system. But after few minutes the space is less and less. It look like something writting to the storage and some minutes later is full.
I update to 7.0.3 but I have same problems. If I connect to the laptop I don't see the storage. (I try on Linux and windows.)
Does anyone from you know any solution?
just got mine but dont have your problem.
think you need to pay the seller a visit...
I tried to install a rom from fastboot but I get the same errors.. When I see the storage I get 26GB files on the internal storage/ramdump/. The file names are: ramdump_modem_"date"
If I delete this file after 20 minutes the system is recreat it.
Defective as for replacement
yup - sounds defective to me...
I am using a Poco X3 Pro with Arrow OS (based on Android 11) installed and rooted.
I have a high capcity microSD card installed (legit and fully functional), and selected my Spotify downloads to be on the microSD card.
The issue is that every time the phone restarts, Spotify revert the download location back to the internal storage. I can go into the option and select the external storage again, but all the files that were previously downloaded would be gone.
This is particularly frustrating as right now I do not have access to a reliable Wi-Fi (I have access to an unreliable Wi-Fi that is throttled down to something like 20-50KB/sec) so it takes forever to re-download. And.. even if I had a fast connection, it would still be quite frustrating.
1. Has anyone encountered / solved this issue before? If so, could you please share the solution?
2. I have done a bit of Googling on this issue, and it seems to be pretty common. One suggestion I have seen is to stop Spotify from automatically starting on boot. Some people have suggested the the issue is caused by Spotify loading before the external storage, and revert to internal storage as a result. However, I haven't figure out an easy way to do that. Is there any apps I can install to manage (i.e. stop) apps from auto-starting? I am kind of hoping for a pretty easy solution, or if necessary a pretty detailed how-to.
Thanks a lot.
I am facing this issue since very recently too. I use a Redmi Note 10 pro running Project Elixir rom (based on Android 13) and rooted. Tried changing roms and tried the fixes suggested previously, which was to delay the startup of spotify app after the device boots and to disable boot receivers through adb shell. None of them have worked so far. The downloaded music keeps moving back to internal storage from sd card after every reboot no matter what I do. Hopefully there's a fix for this soon.
