So transferring 4 gigs from pc to internal via usb took 1 hour. No biggie but then when I moved that 4 gigs from one folder to another on the internal it took...1 hour? Am I missing something here? It's on the same drive. I just moved it from the eBook folder to the kindle folder because Kindles not finding it. I didn't think this would be an all day thing. Any apps for checking internal file transfer speed?
And I presume because I'm cut/pasting so many files at once it keeps crashing saying unable to move file, stop transfer or skip file dialog. This is really annoying...even selecting multiple files in the same folder and right clicking causes it to freeze and stop responding.
This has a lot to do with MTP, since sucks for speed compared to normal mass storage mode.
i can comfirm aswell that it has to do with mtp. i hate it so much. :-\

Wow
400 megabytes, 8 minutes remaining. That's crap.
huh thats odd. Last night i transferred a 13 gig movie from my pc to my tf300 and it said there was 1 hour left. took 15 mins. im on AOKP build 40 so idk if that makes transfers faster or?

I plugged my Xoom to my computer and was about to back up my files and saw that I still had an old document folder titled 'se' on the the Xoom. I thought I was deleting it and got up away from the computer. When I returned it seemed like the screen was frozen and I could see that the folder that was selected was 'sd card'. I went up one folder and saw that the Xoom was now saying 28 GB free space. I checked my Recycle Bin and nothing was there. I was in doubt and unplugged the Xoom from the computer and my wallpaper and widgets are all there but if I try to launch anything it isn't working. Is there anyway to retrieve the data ? It figures that the day after I finish every level of all the Angry Birds game and Asphalt 6, this happens. Do I basically have to factory reset my Xoom? I just plugged it back in and I can now see the folders which is weird because it still says 28 GB free space and no app will launch.
Update- I can no longer see the folders. I'm guessing there is no fix for this and I really just lost everything but I will give it a day and hope for a response on here. Now I remember why I should have rooted my Xoom. I could have backed up my apps and app data.
I have my Xoom connected to my PC, I have the right drivers installed and it shows up as "Xoom" in My Computer.
I am trying to copy a file (about 300mb) to the internal storage, it starts doing it and then the progress hangs and after a while it says it can't do it.
Then Windows Explorer stops responding.
Also, if I just browse the internal storage through my PC it is all very slow, I have Titanium Backup and the folder has 231 items in it and Windows Explorer takes about 30 seconds to display them all.
I have tried using the Motorola micro-usb lead in case that would help, but it didn't. I have also tried using different USB ports on the PC, I read that using the front ports could cause problems so I am using a back port but it is still the same.
The "external" SD card is responding at normal speeds. Is it just that the internal SD is very slow? I am pretty sure I chose to use it when I ran Antutu and it got good speeds.
Any help please?
I am using TeamEOS Wingray.
I just browsed the internal storage then went to SD card, then went back to internal storage and it seems to be working better now, it doesn't hang if I do this. It still transfers very slowly though.

The Xoom is functioning as MTP device not mass storage. That is the way android is set up (for tabs???) and that may have something to do with it.
Thanks, maybe that is it.

I have noticed that you have to let windows finish enumerating the files/folders before it starts acting at normal speeds. If you have a bunch of files on your internal storage it can definitely take a while... especially after months of accumulating garbage files from various apps that never clean themselves up...

Yea, it is still a bit slow but more in the realms of normality that way.
Ok when i opened my SD card on my XOOM to add some more files i notice that all my folders on my SD card had duplicates. instead of one copy there is not 3 copies of each folder. each folder seem to have the exact same thing in it as well. However it doesnt seem as if its taking up extra space on the SD car either. this is weird. Does anyone know how to solve the issue. Im using a 32gb memory card. been using it for months now. problem just happen las tnight.
Same thing happened to me exactly. I ended up formatting the card and refilling it.
I know it happened after a certain update. I just don't know which one.

I got the same problem after ICS and multiple applications updates.
32GB Sd card in Moto Xoom. When connected to PC the xoom displays on PC 5 copies of each directory even though I formatted card under Windows.... and still sees the ghosts of the previous files with 0 bite size! Then when I try to play any mp3 it reads: "Couldn't play the track you requested" because I'm guessing it cannot point back to the original file which is in 1 of the 5 duplicate directories.
BTW, on the xoom, using Astro file manager I only see 1 directory on the SD card.
The issue starte after the random reboots in ICS last week... I've being using the xoom for months without trouble...
hate to side track this thread but how are you get the scdcard to read or write from

Recently I've been unable to transfer any files over about 200k to my external or internal memory over USB.
It was working fine before (I transferred over a 630meg rom), but now it just gives me an error saying "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"
I'm even having trouble transferring files to my extSD over kies as it keeps crapping out.

Same thing has been happening to me today. I seriously cannot transfer anything with this MTP crap. I have tried re flashing to stock rom, even completely reinstalled windows on my new samsung SSD and the same end result. All I can do now is pop my micro SD into my USB adapter and transfer files that way. Annoying but it gets the job done I suppose.

OK so after a reboot I can transfer files internally again. No idea what was the problem that caused it to happen all day.
Still can't transfer anything to my extSD.
I agree this new way of doing file transfer sucks, it is very slow but if I have time it does work fully for me.
I transfered 8 gigs of blue-ray movie rips to my 64 gig card a few days ago through USB & all the files work just fine.
I don't know how long it took, as I hooked it up through USB, set it to copy & then went to bed. It was complete the next morning

Tried multiple times copying the Synergy 1.7 Rom zip file to my extSDCard. Got to 60 seconds left and then gave me the error.
Tried about 10 plus times and still the same error. Sometimes it would get to about 50% done then the copying time would just keep increasing and finally crash.
Sometime I would have to remove the battery to reboot as it would lock up the phone because it was stuck trying to MTP sync. WTF?!?!
I have been having troubles also.....I cant copy files to sdcard or ext/sdcard with my pc(windows 7). I formatted the ext/sdcard w/ the phone and put in the slot on my pc and did a quick format FAT32. The error i get is "Cannot copy item.....The device has either stopped working or has been removed". I can remove the sdcard put in my pc and copy files with no issue(other than its a pain in the ass). I wonder if its a batch of bad devices???? I had the problem on stock and same running Synergy 1.6.......
Hi, i have just tried transferring about 120GB of files from my PC to My OP6 and its ridiculously slow.
I have done this in the past via twrp and its been okay speeds from what i remember but on this phone its still really slow.
i have noticed it takes ages for it to calculate files and then when it starts transferring it wont give me the usual pop up box with transfer speeds etc.
i have read that ADB Push is the best way to do this but thought i'd ask here first for any advice.
i have a fast internet speed
phone is rooted and has TWRP
PC is decent.
any help at all is great as ive been stuck with this for weeks and can't leave my phone plugged into my PC for days
TIA
If i remember correctly, it only uses USB 2, that's why it's slow. You could instead try to do it over the network, it would probably be way faster.
Some file manager Apps on the Play Store allow to connect to Windows shared folders, maybe it could be your solution !
Usually what I do is drag and drop about 5 to 10 GB at a time. It does take a few minutes but it doesn't take as long if you drag 120gb all at once.
