Hi, i have just tried transferring about 120GB of files from my PC to My OP6 and its ridiculously slow.
I have done this in the past via twrp and its been okay speeds from what i remember but on this phone its still really slow.
i have noticed it takes ages for it to calculate files and then when it starts transferring it wont give me the usual pop up box with transfer speeds etc.
i have read that ADB Push is the best way to do this but thought i'd ask here first for any advice.
i have a fast internet speed
phone is rooted and has TWRP
PC is decent.
any help at all is great as ive been stuck with this for weeks and can't leave my phone plugged into my PC for days
TIA
If i remember correctly, it only uses USB 2, that's why it's slow. You could instead try to do it over the network, it would probably be way faster.
Some file manager Apps on the Play Store allow to connect to Windows shared folders, maybe it could be your solution !
Usually what I do is drag and drop about 5 to 10 GB at a time. It does take a few minutes but it doesn't take as long if you drag 120gb all at once.

Hi all,
So I finally updated my TF101 to 9.2.1.21 the other day, and then did a factory reset. The only thing I've done to it since my last update was root it, and then saved it with OTA Rootkeeper.
While I was busy setting everything back up, I noticed that I forgot to backup my music so I connected my TF to my computer, it gets detected fine as usual, and I can open up all the directories and stuff.
However, when I try to copy music over to the internal SD card, it shows the progress bar for the transfer but it doesn't progress at all. It doesn't matter whether I try with 1 file or many files; nothing ever gets transferred no matter how long I wait. Eventually, when I try and cancel it, it also seems to hang until I have to force close it.
This used to work fine on the USB port that I'm plugged into on my computer, but I did try out a few other ports too and same thing.
I would appreciate any help/insight.
Thanks in advance!
I've been having the same problem actually, except when I go to transfer a file, Windows Explorer stops working. It's really obnoxious. My temporary workaround is to transfer files directly to an SD card and then move them over using the on-board File Manager to the internal storage.
That's what I ended up resorting to, but that sucks.
Going from a single-step process to multi-step.
Thanks anyways.
I was recently given a Htc mozart by a friend who had cracked the screen and bought a new phone, they said I could have it but would like their photos and vids off it so if I could back it up (easy as pie I thought!!!)
The phone charges and functions fine (I changed the digitzer) but when plugged into a pc it displays usb unrecognized error code 43 (malfunction?). I have tried multiple cables, laptops and even os (xp, 7 32bit/64bit and osx), I have searched the internet and have seen some suggestions on wiping the phone (but I don't want to do this until the data is backed up) also looked at reading the micro sd but found you can't by conventional methods.
I have also tried multiple apps - boxfiles, sendstuffnow, sharefile (they seem to allow one photo at a time but not videos), I also tried emailing them but again I can't email vids and the phone has over 500 pics! tried bluetooth and also yivosoft but it doesn't seem to be able to view the files (root access required??), tried a few other programs such as ftp and they just state the phone needs to be updated via zune (currently running 7.0.7004.0).
I was thinking of sticking another microsd card in and formatting it etc just to see if it is then recognised in windows and poss update the firmware then put the old micro sd back in? would this work or is the firmware stored on the micro sd card and also if not when I update would it then state the old micro sd needs formatting or something? If anyone has any suggestions on how I can get the pics and vids off it would be greatly appreciated! I am an android user and this is my first experience with a windows phone so if I am way off my apologies. Thanks again
For sure don't mess with the uSD cards. They're locked to the device (the "S" in SD stands for "Secure" and refers to a rarely-used ability to lock an SD card). Even if you managed to make the card usable again, the data on it would be gone. Also, yes, the OS is at least partially stored on the SD card, and your switch-update suggestion would not work.
WiFi sync would work, but if that's not already set up you'd need to connect the phone to Zune via the USB to set it up. There are some homebrew apps that would be able to lift the files easily enough, but unless you have something lile TouchXplorer or Advanced Explorer installed already, that's not an option (you need USB connection to install more homebrew).
Sorry, man. This is one of the reasons why I plug in my phone to my PC every day or two and sync it; the tiny amount of time it takes is worth the reassurance. I realize that doesn't help now, though...

Thanks for the reply, know what you mean I back up regular also but my friend didn't. I can't believe its so difficult to transfer the files without the usb connection :S also can't believe the updates are no ota :S was hoping there might be a method of unlocking the phone for homebrew like there was with the iphone at one stage. Ah well back to the drawing board unless someone can come up with any other ideas!
Recently I've been unable to transfer any files over about 200k to my external or internal memory over USB.
It was working fine before (I transferred over a 630meg rom), but now it just gives me an error saying "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"
I'm even having trouble transferring files to my extSD over kies as it keeps crapping out.

Same thing has been happening to me today. I seriously cannot transfer anything with this MTP crap. I have tried re flashing to stock rom, even completely reinstalled windows on my new samsung SSD and the same end result. All I can do now is pop my micro SD into my USB adapter and transfer files that way. Annoying but it gets the job done I suppose.

OK so after a reboot I can transfer files internally again. No idea what was the problem that caused it to happen all day.
Still can't transfer anything to my extSD.
I agree this new way of doing file transfer sucks, it is very slow but if I have time it does work fully for me.
I transfered 8 gigs of blue-ray movie rips to my 64 gig card a few days ago through USB & all the files work just fine.
I don't know how long it took, as I hooked it up through USB, set it to copy & then went to bed. It was complete the next morning

Tried multiple times copying the Synergy 1.7 Rom zip file to my extSDCard. Got to 60 seconds left and then gave me the error.
Tried about 10 plus times and still the same error. Sometimes it would get to about 50% done then the copying time would just keep increasing and finally crash.
Sometime I would have to remove the battery to reboot as it would lock up the phone because it was stuck trying to MTP sync. WTF?!?!
I have been having troubles also.....I cant copy files to sdcard or ext/sdcard with my pc(windows 7). I formatted the ext/sdcard w/ the phone and put in the slot on my pc and did a quick format FAT32. The error i get is "Cannot copy item.....The device has either stopped working or has been removed". I can remove the sdcard put in my pc and copy files with no issue(other than its a pain in the ass). I wonder if its a batch of bad devices???? I had the problem on stock and same running Synergy 1.6.......
I mainly use my tf300 to read comics. These are all small files. Like 10-25mb. When I transfer them with the USB cord they are fine. When I transfer them over wifi they are incomplete. 'Perfect Viewer' can usually read them when they transfered over, but they are missing pages or have pages that are corrupted and can't get passed it. This also seems to happen when I torrrent these files. I often have to tell the bittorrent client to "recheck" and when it does it goes from 100% done to like 97%(not always the same number) and then finishes the download. Sometimes I have to have it recheck several times before it really is 100%.
I thought it might be the SD card so I started having it download to the internal. Same results. Any one have any clue on why it does this? Is it because the files are so small? Is there a fix? I've tried 4 different file explorers with network capabilities. I reformated my SD card. I did a factory reset. Unless I plug it in manually via USB they are nearly 100% of the time corrupted. I'd appreciate any help on this. I just can't figure out whats going on.
Hi there,
Just got this tablet not long ago, using brand new Sandisk Ultra 128GB Micro SD (Tried 2 different ones both brand new). Issues was on both stock rom, stock rom + Root and now Blissy Pop rom also. I tried both my laptop & desktop using different cables, I also tried different file systems to the SD card (NTFS/exFat/Fat32)
Basically problem is whenever I copy a large file (Like a 6-10gb mkv movie file) the copy progress will go on in windows and when it's due to finish or sometimes halfway through I will get an error message about the device being disconnected or unrecognized.
No idea whats causing it, I can copy files fine directly on the card with a USB reader, its when I try to plug the tablet with USB to my computers that the problem happens, and copying smaller files work fine.
Any ideas what's causing this I'm running out of ideas.
I've also been unable to succesfully copy files over from AirDroid to the microSD directly.
I have had similar issues with every Android device that I have ever owned. Only with large files, over 2 GB I would say. Even file transfer through TWRP. (I point that out since it takes the Android version out of the picture.)
My solution? Take the MicroSD out, plug it into your PC directly, finish the transfer and re-insert.

Oh wow, well atleast I'm glad it's not just me, I have been spending so much time trying to figure out what was happening :/
That makes it so inconvenient if you just wanted to quickly add a video file >2gb before leaving or such.
So nobody else had any success working around this?
