If you can install google apps. Yu can try to use lawnchair version 2 and pixel bridge. Works for me

I tried to get it working, but failed.
The only thing working is saying "ok google" when I have the assistant app opened. This is not what we seek here unfortunately.

u can set assistant to google, and then slide from bottom left or right to activate it. but yeah, i think voice activation would be alot better. im used to it for a long time on my old phone

Guys, both solutions have nothing to do with the problem described.
I've tried both methods, none of them makes Google Assistant to work with voice when Mate 30 Pro is in standby.
If you managed to run it, please show us.

Is it working also when screen is off?
Could You please send us explaination how exactly You did this? What applications have You used to make Google Assistant mic working?
I've tried already to install Nova Launcher, but it still voice match is unavailable. I've set Google Assistant as my default assistant.

[XPOSED] Twisty Switch: Customize your Moto X's twist gesture!

This isn't supported or being developed for anymore. No need to ask for features / settings / etc since they won't happen.
This is an Xposed module that allows you to customize what happens when you perform the "twist" motion that normally starts the camera.
Right now you are limited to launching activities that are available through your launcher.
This module allows enabling/disabling of the vibrate that occurs when starting an app.
This is an initial and quickly tested release. It's possible there are bugs with it. Please report anything you find here! (Logcat stacktraces appreciated )
Please suggest twist actions or features that you'd like to see in future versions!
The module can be found in the Xposed repo by searching "Twisty Switch"
List of bugs / to-dos :
If you have a pin enabled the screen will not turn on.
Sort alphabetically
Can do the twist gesture when your desired app is already open

Good job Op. Testing it ASAP.

Works great thanks! Could the list of apps be sorted alphabetically? That would make finding things so much easier. Thanks again!
Thanks a lot , testing !!!
Great job I tried it with the new Google camera it opens it but initially I get an error message I have to clear that says could not connect to camera. I hit OK an the camera opens great beta app.
Not working on my Moto X. Do you need some info to fix it?

The "Could not connect to camera" message shouldn't have anything to do with Twisty Switch. It's launching the camera app no different than how your launcher would normally start up the camera.
I'm not trying to insult you so don't take it that way. Do you have xposed installed this is only a module not a stand alone app. If you do then make sure after you install it you go into exposed and activate it then reboot and it will work. On a side note for the OP the error message I get for the Google camera doesn't always happen its intermittent. I don't know how to log the error but will if you tell me how to and post the log.
Here is a screen shot of the error and I have a maxx.

Wow this works pretty great thanks so much!
One suggestion I have though is add an option to hide the app from the app drawer.
Nice work.
Disabling the annoying vibration is the best feature in my opinion.
If the motorola stock camera app isn't running (hibernated/removed) it doesn't work. I'm not excieted about this. Just for the protocoll.

Android O picture in picture not working

Just installed the Android O Beta and a playing YouTube video doesn't go into Picture in Picture mode when I return to the homescreen.
Has anyone had this problem and was able to fix it, or has anyone just installed the O beta and has this working without a hitch?
Didn't work when I upgraded to the beta from 7.1.2, I have since tried a factory reset, and as far as the play store tells, there are no updates available to any app.
I installed the beta version of O today on my Pixel XL through Google beta program and picture in picture is not working for me either.
It's a reccurrent problem according to some reviews on YouTube.
I also heard that it currently only works with a YouTube red subscription...
This worked for me

Everyone on this thread -- the PiP mode only works for certain apps that support it. Not all apps support it. Also, all the apps that do support it will request for your permission to use the mode.
If you go to Apps & notifications > Special app access, you will find a permission node for picture-in-picture.

Thanks, mcbeat—the default behaviour is that it's turned on for every compatible app though automatically. So, unfortunately, this doesn't help ?.
Yep not working here in the UK, what's the point in having PIP as a feature if it doesn't work properly - if it's bull**** to make me get YouTube Red - then it's not working, in fact if Google did that it would be a really **** move.

Why disable bixby ?

Hello fellows
Could you tell me why most of s8 plus users don't activate bixby ?
Is really because the languages not exist or to preserve private life ?
Thx a lot

Because Google Assistant exists and is better. Plus I guess better battery life with one less service running in the background

If you read this long article about
Bixby , failures to deliver a good or promising
service , you can understand why i am
not interested in Bixby( in general.)
Only maybe, the voice wake up from sleep function.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...t-feels-several-years-behind-the-competition/
Because I've been using Google and Google Assistant for so long I don't really need anything else. Bixby hasn't fulfilled all their promises and is a battery drain.
Because I don't need an assistant app (Google's included) full stop.
The button on the side is much more useful to me as recent apps shortcut.
I really didn't have a problem with Bixby until the last update. I never used it and had no interest in using it, but it only bothered me when I'd accidentally hit the Bixby button and the stupid app would pop up. But, after the last update and getting a notification window saying that Bixby only works in Easy Mode and asking if I wanted to enable it I decided that it needed to go. I'll be damned if I'm willing to cripple my display and ability to customize my screen for an app that I never really wanted anyway and that doesn't add any functionality that Google Assistant doesn't already have.
I hate bixby and your button, thanks god for BKdisabler.
Bixby won't add any value or benefit to my phone usage. I've found the voice recognition to be poor and I honestly will never use features like: Open facebook and post etc, because once again, voice recognition is poor. Google Assistant already meets my needs, so I might as well disable Bixby so it's not taking up my battery.

I used BK disabled to fully disable bixby but now remapping apps don't work with the button. Is yours able to be remapped?
Because I don't want some useless piece of software listening to me and monitoring everything I do? Voice activation is nothing but a gimmick. I have never and will never find a use for it. Maybe if I was a quadriplegic I might use voice activation. I got the S8+ 3 days ago because my S4 and LG G4 were both broken. I only got it because it was available on my network and the Oneplus 5 was not. Honestly, if I had realized this Bixby **** existed and was so deeply embedded into the S8 before buying it, I probably would have cancelled my contract and moved to a different carrier for the Oneplus 5. The amount of bloatware on the S8 is horrifying.

Ahh fair enough. That makes sense. I didn't like the idea of having to install the framework for BK Package Disabler and give it administrative permissions on my device. I am very fussy these days when it comes to what I do and don't agree to lol. That was pretty much what ultimately pushed me into getting root and Titanium Backup. Also, I was able to remove the Bixby Vision icons from the Gallery and Camera apps which was a massive relief. I still miss my G4 though and I am a bit bummed out that the 64GB S8+ only has 3.4GB of ram...

What's 'Easy Mode? I don't see it under 'Mode Settings'. Is it only available after Bixby has been activated?
[Edit]
Found it.

Hello fellows
Could you tell me why most of s8 plus users don't activate bixby ?
Is really because the languages not exist or to preserve private life ?
Thx a lot

Because it is junk. It is slow to launch. It activates itself without my command. Doesn't often understand what I want to do because it is very strict in "how you say something". The bixby "home screen" the copy cat of Google now is of limited use: Gathers information from only a few sources and mainly from Samsung apps that I don't use because they are junk like Samsung health. No integration for a lot of Google apps. Bixby is again this proprietary BS from Samsung to make us dependent on their badly designed apps. Do you remember S Voice and all the other bloat?

I used BK disabled to fully disable bixby but now remapping apps don't work with the button. Is yours able to be remapped?
