How to move contacts from device's "phone account" to "gmail account"
Hello,
Can someone, please, tell me ho to
1. move (not copy) contacts from the device's "phone account" to the the device's "gmail account"?
2. set the device to save contacts, by default, in the gmail account instead of the phone account.
Thank you in advance to who will kindly share time/expertise.

I'm trying to get my phone to show sent mail with my Gmail account. I'm using activesync and direct push with my Gmail account. I have the "save a copy of sent items" box check marked but it doesn't do anything. I went into the "Manage Folders" tool and looked for my "Sent Mail" folder to checkmark to tell my phone to sync the sent mail folder. It was not showing up in my list of folders. There was a "sent items" folder and Iselected the "sent items" checkmark to sync it but that doesn't seem to do anything. I tried manually adding the "Sent Mail" folder and checkmarked it to sync, but after I did that I got nothing but errors from Activesync and I couldn't send or receive mail any more. The error code it was throwing up was 0x85010015. I had to uncheck my email from the activesync options to essentially delete all my email and then rechecked it to re-add my email to be able to resync. Still no Sent Mail folder.
I'm not sure what to do next. Any help tips or advice would be much appreciated.
I see Google Backup & Restore in the ICS setting menu but when I try to use it the Google Account sections stays greyed out and says no account setup.
What or where do I setup this account? Is it part of my gmail/google docs or what.
Don't you have an account set up on the phone?
Check in Settings->Accounts and Sync. If there's no account, choose "Add account" at the bottom, then fill in the credentials of your Gmail account.
In my Google account I have a few email addresses as contacts, the problem is that when I joined my phone to my Google account I got those email addresses on my phone and I don't want them. Note that the the email addresses contacts are separate from my phone contacts, meaning they're different people.
So how can I still sync phone numbers but not email addresses?
Thanks.
I would recommend the My Phone Explorer if you want hust to sync contacts from one phone to another, it can also save the contacts on your pc. I am using this one and I am pretty happy with it. http://download.chip.eu/de/My-Phone-Explorer_1366395.html

You don't have to delete them, do you? If not, try GO Contacts (look for it in Google Play) where you can connect similar contacts with option "Merge contacts" (with the same name, so you can connect emails with phone numbers). Or try just disabling some types of contacts in "Contacts Account" where you can tick what to show even an option "Show only contacts with phone numbers".

Hi;
When i want to login with my gmail account the internal E-mail app doesnt recognize my Gmail account. And con not connect. When i try it form my Hotmail it works interestingly.
After i receive the "Unable to connect, check your password and maybe IMAP and SMTP service may be unavailable" message on the screen ( as seen on the attachment) Google sends me an e-mail that nearly says " A sign in attempt has prevented".
Can not use gmail with internal app.
Why can it be? Is it still a China-Google war?
And on the other hand when my Playstore origin Gmail app receives an e-mail on the notification drawer the background color is the same color as the mail's subject. And two of them black can not be read. How can we change the transparecy of the notification drawer? I tried it also with a white background wallpaper.
Is any any one using internal mail app with Gmail account?Still can not connect.
Your email password can not be the password you use with gmail.
I explain myself:
1)Log in to your google account
2)Click on connexion and security
3)On the left, choose "Connect with google"
4)On the new page, choose :"Application password"
5)Enter your actual google account password
6)There you'll see "Select an application", click on it, choose "mail"
7)In the other box, choose "Other", (android is not listed)
8)Enter a name of your choice, i choose "Mate 8"
9)Click on "generate", a password should appear in a yellow screen
Go back to your email on mate 8, enter your mail adress and for the password enter simply the password on your google account (example: fxbibmhhxpedbpxp)
Enjoy !
Thanks dude. I've just seen the message.

It looks like Samsung, in addition to taking away our option to choose "just once" when opening files, phone number and email links so we can avoid setting a default, the contacts app no longer asks you which account you want to save a contact to (i.e. which gmail account, exchange account, or other cloud contact management). While you can select an account when you first create a new contact, you can't select a destination account when importing or saving VCF files. The older versions of Samsung software on my GS5 allowed me to select a destination account every time.
Does anyone know of a workaround? How does the phone decide which account is the "default" save to account - I got lucky and its saving to the right one, but how do I redirect it if it was saving to the wrong account?
PS: I know about the "clear defaults" function in the application settings. I already cleared defaults for my contacts app, it doesn't impact this issue - it will allow me to select a different app to use to open the VCF file, but not a destination account for the imported contact.
