One plus 7 pro with lineage OS and MicroG instead of galaxy s10+ - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi!
I'm not a compete tech noob but new to phone modification, privacy and security and would like some recommendation.
I bought a Galaxy s10+ a few weeks ago and after that I started to read up more about phone modification, privacy and security.
After a lot of research I found out this is not the most privacy friendly phone in terms of installing a custom ROM.
I have 3 days left to return the s10 and decide which other phone to choose.
If i want something 'similar' it would be something like the Oneplus 7 pro or maybe a Oneplus 6/6T?
So, I would like to have a phone which is reasonably modifiable so someone like me ( willing to spend time and effort figuring out how to take the right steps to do the things needed without ruining the phone) can install this setup below (basic setup for now), without having to be a developer/phone expert. Is this possible on the 7 pro?
I like having a large good quality sensitive screen because I do a lot of journaling and will also be using it in conjunction with personal productivity apps. I'm not a gamer at all but enjoy having a smooth working phone.
Will apps like the protonmail app work on a setup like this?
I own a LG V20 now which has a Quad DAC Audio interface which sounds amazing. I would like to use my High Res Audio Audiotechnica headset with my new phone, anybody knows if this is possible with the 7 pro using a Usb-C to 3.5mm jack audio interface?

What? new phone???

My phone is getting a bit tired now, the battery is weak(er), and it's more temperamental every day.
I can't afford a new one right now, but I'm not sure what to 'dream' of even now... I'm unsure of WM7 and like Android but hear it can be sluggish.
I've got an aging TouchHD and I've run various tasty ROMs and been quite content.
My dream phone would have the following 'features' in it's repertoire:
- Obviously, Bluetooth, GPS, Camera, Video (not used it much but I like it)
- High speed Internet
- WiFi that can be left running in the back ground with phone on standby. When in range.
- Full screen web browsing with full Flash 9/10 support (think youtube in a browser)
- The compass function in the HD2 was pretty cool too.
- Sensible hardware buttons, at least 2 programmable.
- and a big screen, fancy GUI, highly customisable, and supported by XDA-DEV's
I use my phones features most in the sort of order:
- As a phone
- As a clock
- Media player (till it got all hot and unreliable)
- Internet browser (generally checking things to be viewed later on a PC)
- A SAT-NAV
- A camera
- A diary
- A tool for work (diagnosing wireless networks, accessing and repairing LAN)
- For youtube (I don't like the app though, would prefer it in a browser and support for others like wimp.com)
- Updating social networks
- Games
- Notes
- Portable media device
What do you guys think?
Go with the new 16gb HD7 on WM7 or something else... I just dunno!

Best applications for Android +wishlist

[edit] This thread seems to be forgotten or unneeded. Last update. [/edit]
Hi. I've found no thread about this topic usable to me, so I want to create one.
I have already a bunch of apps for certain purposes. I would like to ask you all which apps could be better for same purposes or which apps could do different things in the same topic those apps do. If this thread will grow, i will maintain the first post to "rate" some propositions with short descriptions of cons and pros.
Of course, I prefer free apps. Only circumstance where paid can exist is lack of free ones. Where free exists, there is no place for paid ones until it offers great kick to functionality.
1. GPS navigation/toold/positioning
- [PAID] Sygic. Not free, but usable trial, as far seems to be best offline. I see no other choices free, and paid ones I've seen are just worse than Sygic.
- LifeLogger
- GPS Logger
- Open GPS Tracker
2. Drive loggers/recorders/blackboxes etc.
- Autoboy Blackbox, best so far
- CarEyes, good but crashes time to time (not often), mostly when phone rings - only one that is completely free
- DailyRoads Voyager, usable
3. Photography
- Original HTC camera app. I see no point to install anything more maybe not mentioning panorama - I would like to install just one app which does it, but saw nothing good and stable yet.
- 3D Gallery (Gallery++)
4. Video
- Same as above, HTC. Any propositions? (here and above I mean usable features, no fancy needs if you ask me like stupid filters or so)
5. Music/Sound
- Same as above, HTC.
- Need good quality recorder (both mp3 AND wav) with silence detections capable of recording whole day for example (DHD connected to power source)
- Need voice bookreader, not audiobook reader but reader of PDFs for example using voice synthesis like Ivona (must be unintrusive - original google shipped voice synthesis is a crap and lacks other languages)
6. File managers
- Total Commander
- Midnight Commander
- Astro File Manager
7. Backup
- Titanium Backup
- MyBackup Root
Both has bugs. Both cannot solve rom differences while exporting/importing phonebook and call hostory (titanium does not correctly do anything at all between Sense 3.0 and Sense 3.5, and mybackup does not do the call history).
8. Remote
- Avast as a firewall
- DroidWall waiting "in case"
- SSHDroid (the only choice?)
- Network Discovery
- Overlook Fing (actual name: Fing - Network Tools by Overlook), Overlook Whiz
- [BETA but working stable] Droid VNC Server
9. App management
- Android Market REPLACEMENT - AM is sh*tty app. Crashes, unreadable (no option to change font size or so, I want to save my eyes), has only basic filters on searches, etc. Someone should use the api and write stable and flexible one which can download apps too from market (local management isn't enough! - plenty of apps here)
10. Task managers
- System tuner
- Elixir
11. Battery guards/monitors
- System tuner
12. Call
- Call Recorder (only available for DHD recording from line directly)
- Sanity
And RunKeeper for fitness....
I've not seen it, but added to the list (good score on market, and seems to be quite usable from the descriptions)
Why not also posting games? Great topic, very useful.
I don't mind about games, but I'll not look at them, I can just re-post them at first post basing on market popularity rating. I have no time and eyes for such games . Feel fre to talk about any good software, games too

Searching for an Android for Agent Secret

Hello,
For my pixel 2 or OnePlus 5T I am looking for a version of Android based on the confidentiality:
- Application open source
- No third party service installed like Google
- Possibility to edit the file host for blocking ads, trackers and other online garbage. Ex : https://github.com/notracking/hosts-blocklists
- A firewall to control the data that comes out of my phone
I know CopperheadOS based on security but it does not allow to modify system files like the hosts file...
Is it fiction or something like that already exists?
I have the feeling that users like me (concerned about their private life) are often forgotten...
Best regard
Try Lineage OS

Build a Head Unit - Galaxy Note PRo 12.2

Hi,
I have this tablet laying around, and was planning to build a head unit with it.
Few questions I have:
- 4 channel audio (I know I can use usb audio card... but that does not really mirror 2 channels to other 2 channels - suppose a 5.1 card) control pan/balance
- create custom task bar to switch between apps and do AC control etc... with fixed task bar
I have done some Android programming, but I think these 2 requests can't be done with app only...and probably need core change, right?
I know lot of Chinese ROM for Headunits have it... so not sure the complexity of building a custom ROM
Thanks
Nuno
I would love to see a wiring diagram and features list for this. It does not even sound like you need android. Wouldn't Linux be a better choice?
Well, I want to run some apps existing in Android format only, like maps, torque pro, waze, or even do a android auto.

VR headset directory Suggestion

Hi
Suggestion:
Can you make an area for VR glasses because they are based on Android VR.
Pico Neo 3 Link,Pico Neo 3 Pro , Ocolus Quest 2, Ocolus Quest Pro,Pico 4 Enterprise
There are more and more and think there will also be MOD firmwares.
Many greetings

I think there are already a few. At least I see Oculus...
Mobile Virtual Reality
There are a lot of contenders for mobile virtual reality. The premise is simple: use your phone as the engine to power special VR goggles, and experience virtual worlds anywhere. Companies like IonVR, Samsung, and Google are just a few of the entrants into mobile VR. It should get interesting...

Okay I didn't see it but Pico4 is missing , and it's still under: General Development
Then I'll just post it here
PICO 4 Firmware 5.2.2:

1. Added "Lock Screen" for data protection; 2. Added "User Guide" so you can understand the basic operations of the PICO OS for enhanced efficiency of use; 3. Upgraded the UX of the Play Boundary by optimizing effects and algorithm; 4. Extended battery life, and optimized the power management strategy for use while charging; 5. Optimized the performance of color passthrough, and background stretching and deformation when there are objects moving; 6. Optimized network connectivity in specific scenarios; 7. Fixed screen drifting in Recline mode; 8. Fixed noise from the speaker when the power is low; 9. Fixed low frame rate issues when sliding the store page. 10. Improved system performance and stability. 11. Optimized browser compatibility, support more video sites (such as Amazon Prime);
Methink we need at least Pico 4 and Oculus Quest 2. Really.
