Short description
Volumee lets you skip tracks while listening to music - just hold down the volume button. Root is NOT required!
Features
Might be active both while the screen is on and off
Works correctly regardless of the application that is currently open
Compatible with all music apps (song will be skipped in the currently used player)
The main service of the app works in the background, responding to clicks on the volume buttons only while the music is playing. Otherwise volume buttons work as usual.
Road map
I'm planning to add following features to the app:
Add customizable actions on volume buttons long press (e.x. launch assistant/app, perform some routine)
Add visual feedback for user while performing action (using system alert window)
Excluded apps - possibility to disable service when opening specified app
Many more - if you have any idea just tell me :highfive:

Left a 5-star rating on the Play Store. Very good app.
MIUI shows a permanent notification with "Background activity" but maybe that's a MIUI thing...

Thanks @MirceaViP!
You can easily disable the permanent notification by disabling the "Foreground activity" notification channel
Take a look at the below video:

Great
Very usefull application,i'll give 5 stars

Does it work with screen off on samsung phones?

Hello there is a bug.
The song skips but the volume changes, too.
When i want to skip to the next song it change the volume to max.
Phone: Xiaomi Mi9 Lite
Rom: MIUI 11.3.3 Global

Hmm, interesting. Do you have accessibility service enabled and notification access granted? Does It happen when screen is on, off or always?

I think i know the reason. I just wanted it when the screen is off.
When its set on "Always" everything works fine.
When its set on "Screen off" it makes the described problem. Possibly it causes the bug that the screen is not completly off due the in-screen fingerprint sensor

Thanks for describing the problem - I managed to reproduce the issue on my Xiaomi MI 8 (MIUI Global 11.0.6). The bug occurs when there's Always On Display enabled and the Acitivity Mode is set to "Screen off". I will take a look on logs and hopefully eliminate the problem in the next release

Update (v1.4)
Hi everyone!
New update has been released!
I managed to fix the bug related to "Always on Display" and other features that keep screen partially on (e.g. in-display fingerprint sensor).
I've just uploaded the new version to Play Store (v1.4). It will be available to download within a few hours.
@Wyecee - check it out, it should work properly now

Hey i tried it.
It's better now, but it is not perfect till now
When you change to the next song the volume deceases one step.
When you change to the previous song it increases one step.
After few songs the volume is on max or min depends on how often you change the song.
Thank you for the fast fix and support.
Maybe you can fix this too so that the volume doesn't change ?
And an English description and title in the play store could be better for the international users.

Thank you for post.

Update (v1.5)
Hi!
New update has been released to Play Store - it should be available right now (1.5)!
It should fix the bug related to unwanted volume level changing while skipping tracks on some phones.
@Wyecee - please check if the newest update fixed the problem with volume.

It seems like the Always on display bug is back on MIUI 12.
Skipping songs with the screen turned off only works when setting the Activity mode to Always.
A workaround I found is disabling the "Always-on display" (com.miui.aod) app with Titanium Backup,
but that obviously breaks AOD functionality.
Thanks for making this btw. It's very useful when it works.

Update (v1.9)
Hi!
New update has been released to Play Store - it should be available in a few hours (1.9)!
Changelog:
1.9 - added option to disable/change the strength vibration
1.8 - fixed volume slider popup display timeout
1.7 - fixed compatibility with multiple players
- improved detecting music playing and active players
- displaying notification when any permission is missing
- added option to choose long click delay
@smgb66 - a lot things changed since 1.5 version, the whole mechanism that detects when music is active and whether the app should be active was replaced. You can give it a try

Thank you for app it is useful.

Heyy thanks for this app, it works great on One UI 3.0 with Android 11, just a thought is it worth exploring the implementation of this using the Native android.permission.SET_VOLUME_KEY_LONG_PRESS_LISTENER , instead of relying on Accessibility and Notification services it'd make the app leaner! There's another one that did this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-8-0-skip-track-by-volume-keys.3914337/
but it seems to be broken for a few months now, only working on Android 11 when the screen is on.
Thanks and keep up the awesome work, very slick and fun app!

tried this on my moto edge 20 fusion running android 11 stock rooted.
but it doesn't work while using the phone as a media player, and casting to a speaker. does anyone know of an app or method that will work for changing tracks while casting?

★ Supports: Different Ringtones for each Contact and Group!
★ Supports: Bluetooth Headset (A2DP and older standards)!
★ Design: White Holo theme for all Android versions!
★ Notification bar icon!
★ Music stop button on call screen!
Android OS limitations:
Beeps and Ringback tone are not completely silenced. This limitation is because of Android OS Architecture. Android does not allow to silence call sound stream. So, maybe, you'll hear it on the background or maybe not. It depends on ringtone that you'll select.
Anyway, at the moment, there is no way to automatically stop playing music when: "subscriber is busy", "not available", etc. Most likely you'll recognize such message by specific tone of narrator.
Try a Free version!
There are some limitations in free version, but you will see main principles anyway!

okty2k, it's first time, that someone reports on such strange bug
The Volume is set for Music Stream and music playback is going via this Music Stream
If Volume isn't changing - music going via another Stream, for unknown reason.
I guess it's something with software on your device
Try to reboot it, sometimes it solves strange cases
well, I guess that's the case. Because the music volume I turn to zero and still the volume is to high. Actually, there is no change when moving the volume in the application.
edit: I will try also on Xperia Arc S and come back with the behavior description. For now, like I said, due to an unknown problem, on Huawei P1 is not working. The volume seems not to change no matter what.
edit 2: work flawlessly on Xperia Arc S. any way yo identify the problem on P1? On P1 everything else works perfectly, I did not have any problems at all.

okty2k, tnx for your reply
I'm glad that app works good on Xperia Arc S
About Huawei P1: I don't have this device, so I can't test on it, but I think, that problem is in software - either in ROM or in some other audio-related program, as, for some reason, Music Stream constant is not working for you
But, not to start finding which piece of software makes it so, I have idea of workaround for you: try to set music volume while you using standard audio player.
Not sure, but it might work

[APP][2.3+][ROOT] App Override - Now on Playstore

We've all heard of the ability to set a custom DPI for each application, such as in the ParanoidAndroid ROMs and the Xposed Framework. Consdering that control of the user over his/her applications, I came up with App Control, Taking Application Control to the next level. Remeber it's still in beta so expect bugs.
The list remains short for now, but will be growing in time. This application allows you to set custom settings for each and every app, regardless of the fact of it being either a system or user application, such as;
Screen Orientation
Font Size
Input Method
Screen Timeout
Minimum CPU Speed
Maximum CPU Speed
Sound Mode
Wifi
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Examples and Explainations of Settings
Didn't get it? Here's how it works, for each application you can set these settings, you can specify the settings for each individual application. Here are the explainations for each feature or setting.
-Screen Orientation
You can specify an application to remain in a certain Orientation, which may be, portrait, landscape, reverse portrait and reverse landscape. Lets say you would like an application to stay in landscape, incase your watching a video on YouTube, Netflix etc, but you would like the rest of your applications to remain on auto-rotate and you don't want to go rushing back to settings to change this everytime, this setting gives you the ability to do exactly that.
-Font Size
Let's say you have an elderly person is using a device and they have problems with reading their daily news because the text was too small, with this setting you can make the Font Size larger to put that issue at ease. NOTE: This will work depending on your device, it is not guaranteed to work on every device.
-Input Method
You can select the keyboard or voice input is going to be used in the app you choose.
-Screen Timeout
Specify an app to Timeout Screen after a specified time, saving battery life, by reducing screen use.
-Minimum CPU Speed
Let's say your just going to be listening to music and would like to save battery at the same time, but you dont want to do that because your too lazy to switch back to an application to underclock then return to the normal clock speed when needed again, so with this app, you can specify that when your favourite music player if launched, your device's clock speeds will reduce.
-Maximum CPU Speed
Again, lets say your in a position to overclock your phone to avoid lag while playing a game, but that clock speed may stick for longer for any possible reason, causing battery drain and unnecessary heating up of the device, so you can assign clock speeds which will only trigger when that application is launched.
-Sound Mode
This allows you to set a Sound Mode such as Silent or Vibrate which will be activated when ever the application you selected it for is launched.
-Wifi
Wifi control will alow you to enable wifi whenever a specific application is launched, for example your browser.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Use
Your applications will be displayed in a list alphabetically, tap on the application you want to specify settings for and choose from the menu.
To add more configurations, tap the What to Control button and check the ones you want from the list.

You can't set the dpi with this app. But assuming you had it set already and these settings didn't work well with it, lemme test it out and try to fix the issue your facing.

Yes I will be in the future but it will be apart from root permissions, I.e you can limit an app to not use the Internet so no ads can be displayed etc. Heres a short list of what I have planned:
-auto wifi start when a specified app is launched
-separate volume control ability for each app
-permission controls
-disabling on boot startup
Great idea. Thanks for this.

Besides things already said (and besides custom dpi settings for people who may not be on roms fortunate enough to have that feature), I think full screen on certain apps would be a killer feature. Nice app, working on my phone

This is nice and all, but for a guy who already bought Tasker this seems kind of pointless. None-the-less, I tried out the app and it is very good at what it does. Good job!

Hello everyone ! Here we go for a small story :
Nowadays, your device has bluetooth, wifi, adaptive brightness and a lot of other settings. I was tired to switch between screens to enable or disable them one by one.
That's why I created μTask which automate this process. µTask allow you to create a task for each app which will be applied when you launch the app.
There is a bunch of possibilities :
- Brightness auto/manual
- Media volume default/manual
- Mobile data on/off
- Wifi on/off
- Bluetooth on/off
- GPS on/off (beta)
- Synchronization on/off
And if your device is rooted, you can enjoy more features (depending of your kernel) :
- CPU governor
- Maximum CPU frequency
- Minimum CPU frequency
- IO scheduler
- Read ahead buffer
- TCP congestion algorithm
- High audio performances on/off
- High wifi performances (wifi_pm) on/off
DOWNLOAD
For those who are unable to access the google play store, the apk is available in the download section
Keep in mind that it's still a BETA !
TODO LIST
Here are the features which needs to be implemented or the bugs to solve.
- Brightness default mode (fixed)
- Sync on/off (fixed)
- Reset parameters individually (fixed)
- Fix brightness bug (waiting for feedbacks)
- Data on/off bug (waiting for feedbacks)
- GPS background toggle (using root and secure settings) (investigating)
- GPS bug (investigating)

I will take a look for your suggestion. But it could be difficult because a non-system app can not enable/disable the gps in background.
However, I can develop a parameter for the gps settings window opens when you launch the application. Does it seems correct for you ?
For the Motorola 2013 Droid, when you ask Touchless control to read the notifications, the volume is really low. But Touchless control is not a standalone app, it's embedded in the settings of the device. Will the "media volume on/off feature in this app help solve the problem?
Ps. I like the idea of this app, it sounds like Motorola's smart action!
Sent from my XT910 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Can you explain how this is different and not less functional than Tasker?
Suggestion: Select a language
I usually want my phone to be in English, but for one particular app, I would like to use a different language (G+ -> German). Do you think that's possible?
Would it be possible to make it hook to the device settings through Xposed, so that a service in the background isn't required for those who have it installed?

Woo-hoo. Can't wait. I love your Apps ☺?
Wow! What a cool idea. Saves precious seconds when launching the camera. Working great on my Moto G.
Bug: When my phone is in vibrate or silent mode, launching the camera changes the sound mode to normal.
custom camera setting would be nice. I'm using Camera Zoom FX instead of the built in camera most time.
Just noticed that Snapshot enables the camera when putting the phone into a docking station. It would be nice if this unwanted behaviour could be disabled, because I'm using dock clock.

It doesn't seem like it is working on my Nexus 7. I hold it like stated, but there's no activation. I could help with debugging it. As the tablet doesn't have vibration, I can't completely confirm I'm in the correct position. Maybe having some optional sound or toast would help with calibrating position.
Update v1.10 released
Updated the app to v1.10
You can now choose your favorite camera app (secure lockscreen will not support all apps)

When i try to choose orientation there's no “activate“-button, just a “deactivate“-button and I don't see any option to choose the camera app???

Does not work on cm11 Galaxy I9000!
Latest update broke the app
The latest update disabled the default landscape setting. No camera apps are listed. I'm using Google Camera from the Play Store which replaced the stock camera app on my N5. This may be because per app settings in the new update is limited to Pro versions but it was working just fine earlier.

I just checked and there seems to be a incompatibility on some devices.
Will fix asap.
You should add an option to disable it when phone ring.

Latest update 1.11 works on my device (stated above).
But any screen wake up event (putting into the cradle, normally the lockscreen starts) causes the camera to start.
Fixed!

+1 on cm11, I hope the individual camera app setting can be implemented again without compatibility issues.
Thank you for the fast update, just bought the Pro version.

I have 1 huge issue with this app. I use a dock to charge my phone so whenever I place my phone horizontally on the dock to charge which turns on the screen, the camera launches as well. Can a setting be placed to disable the app working when the phone is being charged?
EDIT: Also the option for the app to be disabled after X seconds after the screen is turned on would be nice. I believe now that after the screen it turned on in portrait mode and any time that it goes landscape after that launches the camera.
Love it
Works great on my rooted stock rom SGS4, would it be possible to choose the camera app you want to use in the settings, so we don't have to choose each time ? I'm an idiot works great.
@Jawomo. Any progress on the sound mode change bug?
Also What does the setting "only when locked" do?

Cometin
What is Cometin
Cometin is a free*, growing collection of tweaks and tricks to optimize your productivity and improve the Android experience.
More information
I can create a separate app for every idea I have. But why shouldn't I put everything in 1 app?
Google announced Dynamic Modules at the IO in 2019
With dynamic features you can split an app into several parts. This is exactly what Cometin is.
Cometin is a growing collection of tricks and tweaks for your Android device, split into modules.
This way you only download the features that you want to use and save your storage space.
Available modules (with some small descriptions)
• Ambient display
bring a customized Ambient display, Always-on-display and wave to wake to your device
• App locker
Lock apps behind a passcode or pattern
• Better rotation
Forces every app to be compatible with every orientation including 180 degrees
• Caffeine
Keep your screen on for a certain amount of time
• Cometin Sync
Sync notifications, and notes between phones and desktops
• Darker brightness
Go below the minimum brightness by applying a dark overlay on top of your screen
• Flip to shhh (beta)
Flip your phone face down to silent notifications (except alarms)
• Heads-up
Hide head-up notifications
• Immersive
Hide statusbar, navigationbar or both
• Parallel
Create a work profile to seperate personal and work
• Remap assistant
Execute a different action when opening the assistant
Is this safe?
Yes! All modules are only served from the Google Play Store, all modules are scanned by Google Play Protect so nothing to worry about!
Installing modules:
The installation of modules is done immediately, and you can use the module immediately after installation.
Updating modules:
Installed modules are automatically updated together with Cometin. No hassle with separate files!
Removing modules:
Module uninstalls do not occur immediately. That is, the device uninstalls them in the background in the next 24 hours.
Request for new features:
Requests for new features are always welcome! However, I cannot promise anything about the actual arrival of these features.
Request your features via my support ticket system. This way you can keep track of the status of features.

I have enabled Better rotation & Caffeine modules. Both are working fine. Thanks to developer for this great app.
Will test other modules too and provide feedback for any improvements.

Thanks for the app.
I've enabled Ambient Display module. When I receive a notification, screen wakes up showing the stock lockscreen and after a second lag, the Ambient Display shows up.
Using on Moto g4 play with Pixel Experience ROM 9.0

Always on display
this app is awesome! i turned on Ambient Display on my Pixel 3xl; is there any way i can have always on display with the new customized display? Right now, i only see it whenever i get a notification.
Nice app OP. Is there network speed indicator that show download and upload speed in notification in future? Mine using mia1 stock rom, if this app can achieve that i would be happier coz no need to use edexposed anymore
When I remapped assistant, it broke calling up the Google Assistant
When I remapped Google Assistant, it broke it. Google Assistant can no longer be summoned by my voice. Is this a bug? Pixel 3 Android 10.
Nice idea! For now just testing ambient display.
Would you consider adding the option to unlink ring and notification volumes? Linked behaviour is very annoying.
Thanks again for you work!
I'm trying out Ambient display on my tablet and I'm not sure I'm using it right. It's enabled, and I've customized it, but the ambient display doesn't turn on my screen when I get a notification. Is it also possible for me to make the ambient display show when I open the cover of my tablet (my case is one of those kinds that have a flap to cover to the front).
Like the app lots - do you think adding an always on to the ambient display might be a good idea for anyone with an amoled screen but no native option?
Like oneplus owners?
Like me... ?
Hello
First of all thank this application. It is essential for me.
I've enabled Ambient Display module. I need when I'm studying to get notifications on the lock screen and see a header of them.
Now when a notification arrives there is a small lag when you press on the screen to enter.
It would be great to be able to configure the time that these notifications are on the screen, as well as the position in the same and the amount of notifications that one needs.
Best regards and thanks again!
Reporting after a couple of days of testing.
Just used the ambient display and it looks fantastic.
Works everytime too.
Apart from the lag that others have noted, i noticed 2 other issues:
a) when this is enabled, screen dimming & screen off seems to be forced. I've noticed the default time reverting to 15 seconds. Even if there is activity on the screen, it still forces the screen dimming and turning off.
b) there seems to be a noticeable increase in battery drain.
If I uninstall the app will it uninstall all modules right then?

I've also noticed screen off time reverting to 15 seconds. Is Ambient Display working fine?
Using the Cloud Dashboard and I noticed Microsoft's "Your Phone" application which connects my Windows computer with my phone no longer connects. Does the Cloud Dashboard preempt this connection? Both applications show my phone's (Pro 7) notifications. Your Phone also gives easy access to photos, allows for SMS messaging from a Windows computer and, with the next Windows feature update, will allow for calling from a computer via a phone. I'd like to keep both application up and running.

The display of ambient display works well. The lag issue that others have mentioned, exists. Due to ambient display however, i see some quirks with forced screen locking etc
