Hello everyone,
I was trying to flash a firmware into my Samsung Galaxy J4+ (SM-J415FN) using Odin3. While the Odin3 was flashing the firmware, electricity got cut off and the PC went off.
The phone showed a screen: "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software".
When the electricity came back on, I connected my phone to the PC, and the phone started boot looping in the same screen. When I remove the plug, it stays off. Once I reconnect the plug, it starts boot looping. If I press POWER DOWN + UP at the same time while it is turning on (in order to go to DOWNLOAD MODE), it works, but once I press the VOLUME UP to CONTINUE, it shows the DOWNLOAD screen, stay there for a couple seconds, and then start looping again.
What can I do? Please, I really need to solve this.

Not necessary.
The battery has become depleted.
Boot to the download mode confirmation screen with the USB cable attached to PC. Do NOT select up to go to DOWNLOAD mode.
Leave in this state for a good few hours, may even need overnight.
This is to get some charge into the device, albeit slowly.
After a few hours try and swap to the mains charger. Hopefully the device will not turn off. If it stays on leave the mains charger connected for a while then press up to go to DOWNLOAD mode.

Not download mode. The download mode confirmation screen.
It's worked for several others with the same problem, plus I've tested it myself.

Hi, i've fixed this charging the phone not in confirmation screen but in the screen with serial number and imei (volume up+volume down+power button, and plug the usb cable, then release the button slowly)
If the phone reboots release the volume up first, then the volume down and then the power button.
Now you leave it charging and then reboot in download mode and flash rom with odin.
Let me know if you fixed it!

If i plug it in pc, got bootloop in confirmation screen, enter download mode, imei screen.
Last hope is plug it in charger, press Vol Up + Vol Down + Plug cable to charger (i leave it in confirmation screen don't press Vol Up or Down).
After an hours i take it out and plug it in pc, press Vol Up to enter Download mode and voila it didn't reboot so i just flash it with Odin.
I'm in bootloop as well, and for some reason, even when on 'enter download mode' confirmation page, the device turns off 30secs later. Same behaviour when I go on the page with IMEI, but there the device stays powered on longer (a minute or so). All while the device is plugged into my PC. Any help?

Ok. I bought this Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 from a friend for cheap because I thought I could fix it, but I'm running out of options. It's in a boot loop, but an abnormal boot loop. If it's unplugged, It will do the splash screen (Samsung) boot loop. If it's plugged in, either into the wall or into my computer via usb, it will do a battery (charging) boot loop. It's kinda weird. I used to have an Epic 4G and it happened damn near all the time, without the battery loop, but it would charge normally.
I haven't successfully gotten it to boot into Download mode.
If any of you have come across this issue, please feel free to help me out.
I also attached a picture of me attempting to put it in download mode. It reboots if I hit either VOL up or VOL down.
Thanks

Can you get into recovery? Also, have you tried unplugging the charging cable and getting into download mode with the cable unplugged?
I'm not sure how to get into recovery. With it unplugged, all I have to do hold the VOL Down physical button and ti will take me to a "are you sure you want to put the device into download mode screen". I apologize. I'm not to familiar with this device.
Edit: After I get to the screen where it asks me if i want to go into download mode, it reboots within 5-10 seconds, no matter which button I press

Hold power and Volume up (volume button closest to the power button) until the tab shuts off and reboots itself and then you can let go of both buttons. If it works, try doing a factory reset. Was this tablet rooted (or have a custom rom installed) in the past?

As far as I know it's been on Stock. My GTab ignores me holding the Power and Volume up keys at the same time and keeps the boot loop going strong.

No, his device is fine.
If your device bricked, but still showing Gtab2 logo on it, it's still fine. You need to flash to stock 4.03 rom via ODIN. (Not clockworkmod)
Warranty won't work if you have flashed custom ROM before.

He needs to be able to get into Download Mode to use Odin. He stated that he can't. When he tried to continue into download mode by pressing volume up (vol. button closes to power button) the tablet reboots. It needs warranty service.
Experiments:
Power off the tab completely and charge completely and press power +volume up for 10 seconds then release, also try to power off and press power+ volume down for 10 seconds then release do you see any screens
If it says do you want to enter download mode or so press volume up and see if you could see (downloading) try also the same with volume down instead of up
Try to connect to computer do you see any messages indicating connections
Also try to connect to kies and try restore or recover firmware from options of kies
You said it reboots after 5 to 10 seconds so try to open odin and try to go to download mode and when you press volume up try as quickly as possible to connect tab to pc while odin is open

There's other method by using OpenRecovery (OR), by putting OR on external SdCard,
but it seems the OR for Gtab2 is not developed yet -__-
Ok here is the deal..this tablet is about to erck me..as you can see its unplugged, 4 days and 3 chargers later I finally got it to boot up, now I have tried holding vol up plus power to goto either recovery/download mode..but nada. .refuses to go...when I hold down vol down plus power it only boots to safe mode. .pc doesn't recognize it at all..have tried several drivers. .turned on..turn off and nothing..what I want to do is try to get it in download mode so I can reflash it so hopefully it works properly. .also I get that annoying red X over battery when power on...any help would greatly be appreciated
Update. ..
OK I got it to charge at 100% even with the red X on the battery drained it at the way down plugged it to the wall and let at charge again to 100%. Any possible solutions to getting rid of the red X or getting it to boot in download mode?
Update #2 I plugged the tablet into the laptop for a few hrs while it was turned off, when I turned the tablet on the laptop finally picked it up and installed the necessary drivers...with that being said is there any way to force boot the tablet into odin/download mode via the laptop?
Try This...

The tab should hit ODIN download mode when you hold the power button and the volume up (closest to the SD card access) key for 10 seconds. If not, download the ADB drivers from the Android SDK and see if you can issue a adb force reboot command to try and get it into recovery mode.
Can you point me in the right direction for using adb?
Hey nick I have adb installed if I type adb reboot - bootloader it only reboots the device back to the home screen .. any commands to try out to force it to download mode?
Adb reboot download brought the tablet ro a screen that says
Downloading. ...
Do not turn off target!!
I was able to then load odin and it's currently flashing everything back to normal
Yes, tablet differ, my tab 2 is first press right side of volume up for download mode (yours can be the left side), then after 2 sec press en hold simultaneously the power button until it asks if you want to continue to download mode. Release buttons and press other side of volume key to enter download mode. Than I would use odin to install recovery (TWR/CWM).
I have T-Mobile Z3 (D6616) that I rooted and flashed TWRP on with no issues. Today I tried to flash ZyxxOS on it. after wiping and installing I went to reboot. The phone only powered off and then no matter what I do will not power on. I've tried all the button combos, LED's don't flash, I used the little yellow button by the sim, nothing.
If there is anything I can add let me know and I'll try to help to the best of my abilities.
thanks, Nathan
EDIT: If anyone can help me to the point that the phone boots or is completely fixed, I'll buy you a 6 pack of beer (or soda if you're too young to drink)
EDIT2: I let the phone charge all night and now (still plugged in) the notification LED is glowing red
Try to boot into Fastboot mode by holding the volume up then plug in the usb into your phone, if it detects then use the sony tool to reflash your firmware and it should work. If fastboot doesnt detect then I don't know what else to say.

So I left the phone on the (wall) charger all night and when I woke up the notification light was red. I hit volume down +power and the phone vibrated 3 times but nothing else happened. After that I tried connecting it to flash tool with a rubberband on the volume up botton. Flashtool's notification screen thing kept repeating "phone connected adb disabled" and then "device disconnected". I let it do that for about an hour before I took it off and put it back on the charger.
Should I still try and reset it by holding it for a few minutes? I read the softbrick thread linked above but i'm not sure what I should do or where my situation fits into that thread.
thanks, Nathan

Try this, open up flashtool and select your firmware, then click on the flash icon, after you clicked flash hold the volume down while connecting the usb cable and see if it the led changes from red to green/blue. Also what version of flashtool are you using? Maybe thats why its not detecting via the rubberband method. Also give this a go as well:
Recovery Mode:
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume UP + Volume Down Key
then Press and hold Power key while pressing these keys
then press Camera key to enter Android System Recovery
Release all key when you see Android icon

If you plug in your charging cable and a red led is on that means it is powered off. So just try the button combination I have mentioned and hope it boots into stock recovery to try a factory reset.

Darn, not much you can do since USB Debugging is disabled. Also is PC companion running the same time as Flashtool? That can conflict with it. If they are both running make sure to close PC companion and give it another go. Three red blinks means the battery is drained completely, but you said you charged it overnight. hmmmmm.....
EDIT: Leave it charging using original cable + wall charger for 10-30 minutes, after that unplug from wall charger with cable still intact then hold volume up and plug to PC and hope you see the Flashmode LED.

Hello,
I have a problem, today I install the combination file to my SM-J410F Samsung device but it not work I get %80 and failed and write something (like custom binary fused ) but after that I want to download another Stock firmware but I noticed that it cannot into download mode and when I Press Vol up + power it only show the Samsung logo and turn off, I try many times but it's something.....
I also use jig USB to force the device to download mode but it doesn't work.
Please help me it's very important to me. I Appropriate your bits of help.

1. turn off the phone
2. hold vol up+ vol down and connect usb
you should be in download mode now.

Recovery
Plz i want link to twrp (recovery) of samsung j4 core (SM-J410f/ds)
I also have a this issue. Power & vol+ & vol- plug in USB, Samsung logo then a blue screen, possibly with an exclamation mark, but only for a split second. The reboots and does the same continuously. I was on android pie uk and tried to flash twrp, failed 3 times. Tried to reflash 8.1 which ended in a fail and now it won't boot, won't boot recovery and won't go into download mode. Does this mean a flat battery? Should I leave it on charge with no sign it's charging? Hold the 3 buttons on reboot for 5/10 minutes?
As it stands now, it's not bricked but I can't do anything with it.
I solved it by holding all 3 buttons and plugging into USB, it did the whole rebooting thing as usual but I kept the buttons held for about 15/20 reboots and then it FINALLY went into download and I could flash stock rom. If important or not, I'd left it charging all night but showed no sign of life whilst it 'charged'
have same problem same it is kind of security to avoid writing Combination
so I just tried to install unofficial TWRP 3.5.0 on my Samsung galaxy a125m and everything went fine, Odin said done. Then I just tried to start TWRP by pressing power and vol up and it didn't start, so I thought I might have done something wrong and rebooted to download mode and flashed it again, Odin said done, then I unplugged the USB cable and now it won't boot, neither to the system or recovery, even to download mode, it did enter download mode a few times before but I pressed the wrong button and had to cancel and enter again, now it won't even enter download mode so I can't flash stock rom to fix bootloop... pls how can I solve this I'm desperate
when I try to enter download mode by pressing volume up + volume down it just shows up charging mode without any numbers, then it turn on and shows Samsung logo, unlocked bootloader warning screen, and the Samsung logo again, but then just restarts and repeats all again...
when I try to press volume up + volume down + power, nothing really happens...
someone help me please
You need to keep both volume up and down pressed, then plug in the charging cable. It should enter download mode, no need to press the power button like in older samsungs.

Hello, unfortunately in these cases the only solution is to enter download mode, check if any button is damaged or if the cable works and if it is well connected, press the buttons harder, hold down the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time , by pressing the strong buttons, for about 6 seconds and then connect the cable. If you don't try another cable to see if that's the problem there is no other solution as the phone is not recognized by an app that can put it into download mode when turned off the solution is the one I already told you about. I hope you have fixed that problem. Sorry for my bad English.

@physwizz
I am having a similar problem with the Samsung A12 SM-a125u
I never could enter into this "Downloading mode".
I tried flashing the stock ROM through ADB with fastboot, and I have another problem that I've never seen before: ADB can see the device while in recovery mode, but fastboot can't. And so it won't allow me to flash the ROM and I don't even know how Odin is supposed to help yet; I think I needed to enter Downloading mode for that, but I can't get into it.
I'm working on this phone for a friend who was given it because his friend's mom doesn't remember the password to it. Does that matter? It's worth noting that because of that I cannot get in to turn on OEM unlocking or dev mode, but idk why that would come into play in recovery mode. Also, the model indicates this is an AT&T phone, and tutorials online have acknowledged this model in their "applicable models" list at the beginning of their tutorials, but I know that carrier phones can cause problems all over the place (stop buying carrier locked phones people!); is this a problem?
How the heck do I flash the stock ROM to this this?
