OnePlus 7 Pro Speakerphone Issues - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I am on Open Beta 4 and I keep having issues with my speakerphone. I am trying to figure out whether it's a hardware problem or a software problem and I'm terrified it's a hardware problem. I have the Oneplus 7 Pro 12GB Nebula Blue so please tell me you are having this issue as well so I know it's a software problem. I have tried all the beta software versions. I also tried the latest Android 9 stable software. So, the issue has nothing to do with being on beta. I just want to know what the problem is. When on calls, I am using VoLTE. Not sure if this matters but I'm trying to provide as much detail as possible. Anyway, when I'm talking to someone and I have it on speakerphone, the person on the other end sometimes says that I'm cutting in and out or they can't hear me good. I use speakerphone a lot and I estimate this happens about 5-10% of the time from what they people on the other end of the line tell me. This also happens even when I have excellent service. So, does anyone else have this issue? Any input and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Its can be network issue if not then may be faulty MIC. When the other side is having problem to hear your sound there is nothing wrong with your speakers.

Internal Speaker Dropping Out

Hi all, hopefully someone might have seen this issue or at least know a way around it.
Basically over the last few days I have noticed that when I am on a call my internal speaker tends to drop out and I hear nothing. It does it constantly, drops out for a second or 2 every 5 - 10 seconds.
If I put the speakerphone on it doesn't drop out at all, so I am thinking it isn't a radio/reception issue.
I have no idea about bluetooth as I don't use it, but I can tell you the wired headset that comes with the phone is fine also.
This problem occurs regardless of which ROM I have installed as I have tested over a few different ROMs.
Any ideas ?
Cheers.
Sounds like an internal hardware problem. I had that speaker go out on a Blackjack 2 and replacing the speaker fixed the problem.
I was thinking the same thing, but obviously I am hoping it isn't. Too lazy to be dealing with hardware issues and sending it away for repairs etc etc.
I have the same problem. I replaced the speaker, I used the phone for 1 day and after that the problem appeared again. I dont know from where the problem is appearing. Maybe some one from here have any idea.
Where did you get hold of a replacement speaker?
speaker problem
I have the same speaker problem. Seems like it happened after I updated to the newest rom. Anyone else notice this?
Same here
I have the same issue. I sent the phone back for repair but they refused due to the rom change.
their OFFICIAL line was that 'due to changing the software on the phone you have used a rom image that has 'OVER POWERED' the speaker and damaged it'.
if you replace the speaker it will happen again.
what you all need to do is clarify which rom was install when the fault occured. Unfortunatley i can't help with that as i have tried several roms since to try and fix the problem hoping it was software.
hope this helps.

[Q] Intermittent call volume drop

I've been digging as much as I can on this issue, and so far I haven't been able to find any official acknowledgement or diagnosis of this issue. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I simply cannot find the thread.
So far, I have had 2 Nexus 5's. Both of them had the exact same issue. When I am on a call, occasionally the volume from the other side will drop to a level where I cannot hear it. This happens most often when I am listening through the earpiece, thought it has happened while using speakerphone and multiple bluetooth headsets (plus my car). There doesn't seem to be a specific thing that triggers the issue, the area or type of phone I am calling doesn't seem to matter.
The phone is stock, I've never messed with the OS and the only apps I've downloaded were basic free ones, too many to list but if an app could be causing it I can post a list.
So far, I've tried the following to resolve the issue.
1. Factory reset both phones
2. Change sim card
3. Contacted my wireless provider (AT&T)
4. Contacted LG
5. Contacted google
Changing phones didn't help, Factory reset seemed to fix the problem for a bit but it came back. Changing sim did nothing. AT&T told me that because the device was third party, it wouldn't work properly. (I don't believe that for a second) LG just wanted me to ship the phone to them. (Not an option as they will take 2 weeks to get it back to me) And google just gave me some basic troubleshooting tips that I had already tried.
I cannot RMA the phone, i bought it used off of Swappa. I do not want to pay LG for a repair as this is a software issue and it should be solvable on my own. (though I will send the phone to them if it comes to that)
Has anyone had this issue, or at least heard about it? The only possible explanation I've found is that there's a problem with the noise cancellation software, but no one seems to have any solutions other than send it to LG, which really isn't an option for me at this point.
Thanks a crap load in advance to anyone who can shed any light onto this.
Bump for help please.
We are in the same boat

I'm being searching a lot to find a solution to this problem, but no luck.
I am using a Nexus 5 from the past 15 days and have the same problem of low to no volume from the speaker (voice of the other party). I initially though that it happens when I am outdoors, but no, it happens indoors too; and this does not happen always, sometimes it is loud and clear sometimes it is not. So I suspect that this has got something to do with the software rather than the software.
Even I don't have an option to send it back to LG cause I bought this in a different country.
My phone is Stock OS, updated to 4.4.4, rooted has Xposed Framework on it.
I also modified the build.prop and set the persist.audio.fluence.voicecall from true to false, but even this did not help.
Please, please, please, if anyone has found a solution to his please let us know.
If you press the back of the phone slightly, does it lower the sound? when i do not apply pressure to any back part of the phone, the sound is clear. with even slight pressure the sound dims on the other side. just noticed this today after trying to troubleshoot the problem. really bad design

So far I haven't been able to try that. For some reason the phone has started behaving, though there are a few issues here and there. I'll try this out next time it happens and report back.

Anyone else have issues with call audio quality?

Ok, so I've noticed something a little weird with my Nex (int. version).
When making or receiving calls, on either of my SIMs, there's like a sort of thudding noise, almost like something is knocking the screen. It's pretty quiet but noticeable enough during calls.
Through trial and error, I've discovered it seems to be volume related, almost like an audio clipping issue.
My first thought was that it was a hardware issue with the earpiece, especially as calls made on the loudspeaker are fine. But I discovered you can listen back to call recordings on the earpiece and when I do that, the noises are gone. So that pretty much rules out a hardware issue.
The next thing that crossed my mind was that it might be signal related, however the issues aren't present on the call recordings full stop, which pretty much rules that out too, as any audio imperfections caused by the signal would have to be present in the recording as well.
So I'm stumped, it only seems to happen within calls themselves. There's no obvious cause, either hardware or signal, so I'm wondering if it's software-related but I can't see how.
Has anyone else had any similar issues?
Yh I've been experiancing the exact same issue on my int version also. Its related to the volume like you said but it would be interesting to know if the chinese version has the issue or not.
I have the Chinese version. I'm not experiencing audio clipping. No thumps. No problem.
Any other with same problem here ?
i am facing same issue, but sometimes who calls me or i call someone they are listening Echo sound.
Anyone managed to solve this issue? I got my phone 3 days ago and this issue appears in most of my calls. Interestingly, it seems to work perfectly fine while I'm on the line and wait for the person to pick up.
I got same issue. How to solve this?

I think this call quality issue is actually a SIM issue

Hi there,
I'm one of the many that's been hit by the call quality issues of the Pixel 3. I use a Pixel 3 white with Tele2 in the Netherlands and I cannot make or receive calls when the problem hits. I also have the problem where I'll cut out every 20 seconds or so any people will tell me they can't hear me.
Restarting it fixes it temporarily and then it just goes on again. It's ridiculous. I'm on my second phone already.
I've found that when this happens, when I go to settings in the Phone app, go to calls and then call forwarding or additional settings, nothing loads. It may even say SIM read error. When I restart the phone, and I can make phone calls properly again, these settings load again. Seeing as these settings are loaded from my SIM settings, I have a feeling something with the phone reading the SIM isn't quite right.
Got T-Mobile NL and especially at home, most times, people can't hear me properly.
call quality
I'm on verizon, and when I call into work conferences from home, I get complaints that I sound like I'm underwater. I've tried disabling advanced calling and that doesn't change anything (was a recommendation in a Google forum). I haven't experienced dropped calls yet, but I don't make a ton of phone calls, so that doesn't mean much.
There are tons of threads like this talking about sound issues when calling. For me the only problem I have is when someone calls me they cant hear me on speaker phone until I turn that off and talk on the regular mic. I dont know why Google hasnt addressed it yet? Leads me to believe that it may not be a software issue that it is more like a hardware problem so they will just keep swapping them out until you are good or they are done swapping and your screwed.

Same here, if a call goes through. Usually it won't even connect

It's so strange, it seems like a software issue. I got one replacement and it does it as well. But a restart fixes it and doing some of the cache clearing fixed it for me for 3 days. Now it's back again.
It would be nice if it were a software issue but it doesnt even seem to be on Googles radar to fix? If they just swap out enough phones for the next few months until the next phone is announced by Google, everyone will want the Pixel 4 and forget about these issues.

P3 white / SIM O2 Germany. I have No problems.
The SIM card is not the problem. When I had my Pixel 3XL and my wife had a Pixel 3, we replaced both our SIM cards. This failed to resolve the issue with both phones. Go read the official product forums. Too many people have ruled that out.
After 3 months without the ability to make phone calls, the only troubleshooting step that worked was to returned the phones and get another model (Oneplus 6t). Calls have been crystal clear using the same SIM cards in all the same environments.
This is either a software issue, or a component issue. I suspect its a component issue. I would put money that there is a bad transmitter or chip-set in the phone. As someone who works with electronics on a daily basis, the intermittent nature of the problem follows the type of symptoms I see when a circuit is slowly building stray capacitance and has no way to bleed out extra potential. Similar to static electricity. This would explain why it goes away for most people for a brief period when they power cycle their phone. It would also explain why not everyone experiences it.
Google may be able to band-aid the hardware defect with software by actually cutting out HD quality on calls and fudging it, and most people won't be able to tell the difference. They might have the ability to power cycle and fulling resent a single component after each phone call. They did the same type of thing when the bottom speaker on the 3XL was buzzing at certain frequencies. They simply programmed the software to prevent the bottom speaker from playing sounds from within those frequencies. Most people aren't going to notice that one of the two speakers is slightly muted.
The only way to remedy this is to have 4g enabled at all times. Calls should then be using volte or HD voice and the issue goes away.
I anable 4g even when wifi is on and calls on both my Pixel 3 (Sold) and Mate 20 Pro are clear and rock stable if not a tiny bit tinny or raspy at the high end due to HD voice.
This is on EE Uk , but I would imagine is similar on cariers from other countries.
On a side note, with O2 I do not have this issue at all so maybe it's something to do with the frequencies or bands the mobile operator is using.
It is definitely not related to the SIM. I have replaced my regular SIM with eSIM on T-Mobile CZ and I still have this issue. I have even transferred my number from Vodafone CZ due to my contract expiring, and its still there.
Hoping after Android Q , this issue will shine [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
I have this issue too, updated to the Android Q beta in hopes this would stop it from happening - but it is still happening.
I can hear everyone perfectly well but they say I am breaking up or sometimes I hear terrible interference and the call is dropped. Tried all the troubleshooting steps.
One thing is I noticed if I am using hands free (car's bluetooth or the pixel headphones) the issue never occurs (so far). I am thinking the antenna might be interfered with while it's in my hand. Can everyone try using hands free solutions while not holding the phone and see if it persists?
Thanks
Factory reset and removal of certain third party apps seems to have fixed the problem for me

and now we need to know which are those "some 3d party apps"
please, thank you
Remove recently downloaded apps one by one , restart phone normally, then make a call to see if removing that particular app solved the problem. If not, continue until you do find that app. In my case, I had my suspicions on the two that I removed and that was it.
check SIM for scratches
My SIM card is scratched. Could the phone be damaging the SIM upon insertion?
I saw on another forum that their call quality issues go away when they use the headphones that come with the phone. So that would not be consistent with a SIM issue... hmm.

Question New day,New issue

So as of yesterday I've been experiencing problems with my Pixel Buds A with the 7 Pro. So, Everything is up to date and I am very unsure of what is happening. While using my buds I constantly hear the disconnect and reconnect about every minute or so. When streaming music or watching a video on the tube it'll randomly disconnect. When pressing the Play button, whatever I was doing will continue to play but with no sound. It's getting frustrating at this point. It's pretty much unusable at this point.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Now its 2 bugs I have,
1: phone call, which isn't a biggy but wife says I sound robotic and connection is beginning to get horrible on calls. Will exchange for another, hopefully not, but, still under the 14 day policy.
2: pixel buds disconnect/reconnect issues. Will return my buds today and see if they got the pro buds.
This ain't looking to good right now and I was just beginning to really like this phone. If next batch after exchange persists, it'll probably be the end of the road with pixel for me. Hopefully things get sorted cause this pixel is absolutely awesome.
I think I read somewhere that the earphones had a firmware update recently, could be causing you glitches? Try removing all of the applicable software from the phone and using them as regular bluetooth earphones. With some luck, they might then behave.

Yeah I'll try resetting some things and setting up again thanks
So, redoing the buds didn't resolve the issue. Here's what I did to fix my issue: went to TMobile and returned it. Problem solved. No more cuts or connection drops haha. Gonna try the pros cause I do like the Buds A but unfortunately I got a defective one. As far as the Phone goes, I let the Store Manager try it and he said it's the antennae. He said his p6p started doing the same as well. I'm giving it another whirl before swapping out for another p7p. Can't leave it as I'm too invested into it at this point
