If you don't remember the passcode you will lose the data.
The only way to decrypt is to enter the passcode.

They will not.
As mentioned right above: losing the pass will render the data unreadable.
How one can have 4300 contacts and 50GB of "important" data without a backup is beyond me though.

Dang I feel really bad for you

URGENT HELP REQUESTED - PASSWORD PROTECTION

I synchronised my XDA last night and it was fine. However, I need to re-synchronise it again today. It is password protected. I have switched on my XDA but am unable to use the screen at all. Each time I tap the screen to enter my password, nothing happens and I am unable to get into my XDA. Please can someone help. I have already done three soft resets with no luck.
Thank you.
If it was recently backed up do a hard reset and they just resynchronise your data

Forgot my Security Password Help Please ??
Hi I have forgotten my XDA 11s security password do you know of anyway I can get into my phone without resetting or loosing all the data ? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tony
@ Tony - If a password was easy to break, there would not be much point to it. Do you not have a recent backup through activesync? or have you got active sync set to rember your password? (if so, copy the data you need off then do a hard reset)
XDA ii s Password
I have forgotten my XDA 11s security password (not the sim password) do you know of anyway I can get into my phone without resetting or loosing all the data ?
if I went through all the numbers to find the right combination for my password would my XDA eventually freeze or block my XDA permanently just like the banks (or the SIM) do with bank cards when you get your combination wrong 3 times??
Well, for a start, read my earlier post - it is ot worth having a pword if it is easy to break.
As for the lock after x attempts, it is likely to have this, but probably be 5, and MAY lock for 15 mins and then give you another attempt, then lock for even longer.
IF you want to do this and spend from now to infinity trying all of the possible 10,000 combinations, then go ahead.

$25 via Paypal to 1st person who helps me reset/wipe my fingerprint settings

For background, see this thread:

And my post:

The device is a Note Edge, but it seems to affect all Samsung phones w/ fingerprint sensor, S5, Note 4, and Edge.
I did a full TWRP Nandroid. The setup had fingerprints registered and used as screen lock. After restore, the fingerprints/backup (alternate) password no longer works.
I was able to unlock the phone using Android Device Manager, so I was able to switch the screen lock to pattern. At this point, I am unable to clear the 3 fingerprints that are registered. Mind you, I know the correct backup password, it's just that the phone keeps telling me that it is incorrect. It also does not accept any of my registered fingerprints. Because of this, I am unable to delete/unregister those fingerprints/password.
I do not want to hard reset and start over. TiBu backup/restore is not good enough, too many other settings to redo. This is why I'm offering $25 to the first person who helps me successfully wipe the registered fingerprints/backup password.
Observations: A hard reset (clearing /data) in fact solves the problem. This tells me that the info is stored in /data somewhere.
I tried a hard reset, register my fingerprints, and restored /data. Same problem. This also confirms that whatever is in /data can be removed to fix this problem.
I tried to delete the cache for fingerprint, no joy. I deleted data/data/com.android.samsung.fingerprint files (db, etc.), no joy.
Please help.... Thanks.
bump. I will offer another $25 for a solution other than hard reset. I can't access private mode where I have photos that need to be moved to a new rom
Hi,
I don't know if I can help you guys, but I can try guiding somewhere, send me a PM with your email so that I we can use Google Hangouts for a better way of me seeing the /data structure for your device.
I've checked one of the threads and it seems there's a "Fingerprints" apps, that cannot have its data cleared, however maybe you can try backing up the app with Titanium Backup and then trying to recover only the app. Just a random idea.
All the best,
~Lord
Me too same problem. Can t delete fingerprints stored.
Suggest to make you sign in to find my phone and follow steps to erase all data on your mobile using your google account! Thank you for the $25 just keep it! To help good and nice was my concerned!
Wow... a thread back from the dead...
Regarding the problem I described in the original post, here is the solution.
For those who are lazy:

In recovery, navigate to /data/validity/ and delete "template.db"
This won't remove the lock screen setting so upon reboot the lock screen will still think you're using fingerprint... But your backup password will work

For the password, you can use Android Device Manager to wipe it. Be sure to thank freeza.
Thanks,
But i've no problem with lock screen (set by pin).
I've only stored fingerprints that aren t recognised anymore. And neither password. Think been an anomaly when changed ROM, even with usual wipes.
So I am definitely trying to ERASE stored fingerprints.
Thanks and hope you share it how if your mobile is fine and clear to have an information for better solutions! =-O

I like to think of myself has having a reasonably good comprehension of English, but I have no idea what you are communicating.
What if my phone crushed and I need to reset it. WIll this problem also affect my device
You re very kind, but erased 2 times template but nothing particolar happened.
Same error entering fingerprints
This removed stored fingerprints
I did the following and those stored fingerprints were removed.
TWRP>Advanced>File Manager
data\system\users\0
remove the fingerprint and security xml files.
Reboot :good:

[Help] Samsung Galaxy S7(SM-G930V) Data Recovery without USB debugging

Hello. My mother has recently found her old Samsung Galaxy S7 and doesn't remember the pin. She has some very important photos (Baby Pictures, ETC) on the phone and needs to get them somehow. She has never turned on any development options or USB Debugging. I don't really know what else to post here because this is my first post. I was told by a friend that this forum could help

The only way to unlock without wiping data is to use Android Device Manager but you have to know the Google account and password the phone was using.
You can use Google DM on a pc to do this. Your phone must be charged and turned on with an active SIM.
If this does not work, a Samsung repair centre can unlock the device if you have proof of purchase. There is no way to unlock AND save your data if both the methods are not available to you.
You can as a last resort reset the device to use again but all data will be lost.
Also things to check first.
1. Often pictures are stored on the SD card in the phone, remove the card put it into an sd adapter or another phone and see if the pictures are stored there in the DCIM folder
2. Pin numbers are often dates of birthdays or bank card pin numbers etc ask your mum if this is the case it might jog her memory.

Password changed, cannot login

Hi Everyone,
I'm having a big problem with my Note 6 Pro. So, I came here to hopefully find a solution. Several days ago, when I attempted to enter my password, it was no longer accepted. Just receive a message on the screen that it's not correct. Except that it is correct - it's the Xiaomi garbage that is not correct. I changed nothing and nobody else ever has access to my phone so, it's quite impossible that anyone else ever changed it. I really am in a bad situation. Could someone advise any potential method that I could be able to access the phone?
I'm currently living in Hong Kong. Are there any top, local phone repair shops that might be able to help? Xiaomi service told me that the only way to use my phone again would be a complete reset. I can't believe this is the only method that would ever work. At this point, I don't even care what happens to the phone in the end as I will never use it, nor will I ever use any Xiaomi product again. I just want to be able to retrieve the last few months of irreplaceable photos and my various contacts.
Cheers!
Amy
Well...i can tell you one thing.
My office colleague have Redmi Note 5 amd last week she had exactly the same issue...
Phone locked itself and she couldn't unlock it...and she also didn't do anything...
Nothing was working, nor fingerprint, nor PIN code...
With your post, I'm wondering if it's some kind of a bug???
She eventually take it to service in order to somehow make backup of all the files of internal storage.
I saw that she has the phone now but didn't ask her what she did, was she able.to save the data etc.
I will check it tomorrow if i see her.

At first do you have any custom recovery installed on your phone? If so open it and select Advanced tab , File Manager and go to data then scroll down and open system folder and delete this files one by one > locksettings.db , locksettings.db-shm , locksettings.db-wal , gatekeeper.pattern.key (If found) , gatekeeper.password.key (If found) , password.key .. Now reboot phone

Thank you for the information. However, I don't have any custom recovery installed. I'm using the phone as purchased - everything is stock. What you described would not work on stock phones?
I have checked with my colleague, she needed to do factory reset of the phone, and thus lost all the data that she had on the phone [emoji53]
She said that there was some glitch/bug during charging - phone was on charger, and at one point there was voltage dropdown in the electricity network (usual stuff in Serbia), like power got cut down for 1 second and up and running again...after this, her phone was locked...

Unfortunately it won't work without flashing a custom recovery
Bro I encountered the same problem and I knew that this is some sort of a bug, (by the way I'm an tech expert, so any problem in Android or windows i can probably solve it) so before dealing with any kind of bug in Android just reboot your device and guess what, 99% bugs get fixed after rebooting your device. And it perfectly solved mine too
Hi! I have made an account specifically to reply and inform you that I had encountered the same issue on my Xiaomi Note 9s and my brother, twice on his Vivo y19. I was the victim first and I was certain that I hadn't forgot nor did anyone mess with my phone. Afterwards I'd just keep my phone without any security. When my brother told me that he had the same issue, I was shocked to know that it wasn't only Xiaomi but Vivo as well, so my decision to keep my phone free of locks was solidified. My brother however, decided to use security again and it happened for the second time.
I'm not sure if Google or Xiaomi, Vivo, individually or collectively, have a part in this. All I know is that it's really painful to loss your data this way, for no apparent reason at all.
This sucks and there's very little information on internet regarding why this happens.
So my advice is that if you've been locked out of your device this way once, don't ever use the security features again. Because most of these phones require a primary password (pattern, pin, code etc) for other features like facelock and fingerprints to work. What sucks even more is that they only ask for the primary passwords on restarts. Had it been the fingerprint, I probably could have unlocked my phone (not sure if my fingerprint would have also been reset).
P. S. I used a lot of words to convey a simple message but it's because English isn't my first language and I don't want anyone to deal with the same headache as mine.

Well, you can't back it up remotely. The only thing is that it backs up automatically are photos and contacts(and other minor things)automatically to Huawei cloud. So photos are the only thing you can retrieve from your lost phone sadly

Hi Madoxx77.
Thkz for the reply. Thats exactly what i want to backup. Can increase my Huawei cloud now? Because i belive my Huawei cloud is full and im missing only yestardays photos (we're on vacation so thats a huge deal to my wife).
if your phone got stolen i think the first thing what would the thief do is to remove your sim card and factory reset your phone, so no posibility to backup.
You could log into your huawei cloud using a computer and in settings increase the storage and check the option for backing up also pictures (but i dont know if this is possible).
But only dumb thief would let your phone online, logged into your account and on data connection.
