Tf101 Smashed Screen - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an old TF 101 with a Smashed screen. Both the LCD and digitizer are done for. I still have some data I'd like to get off, without having to buy a new screen kit. Can anyone suggest how to gain access? I am guessing through the HDMI output, but what about screen control, if the digitizer is broken?

[Q] Broken LCD and screen [GT-i9020T]

Hi,
I've broken my Nexus S. The screen is shattered and both the LCD and touch screen don't work. When I turn the phone on the bottom hardware buttons light up, there is the normal small vibration, however there is no display at all on the screen. The phone does seem to boot though.
Basically, I wanted to know whether buying and fitting a replacement screen, LCD and digitizer will fix the problem?
I have a friend who has replaced iPhone screen before and he seems to think that maybe it won't due to the screen not lighting up at all. Obviously I don't want to waste my money and buy a replacement screen for it not to actually work.
Thanks in advance!

Replacing Digitizer, Will TF200 Parts work?

I recently dropped my TF300 (in the process of jerry-rigging a carrying case for it, might I add) and it happened to shatter the glass and tear some of the ribbon for the digitizer, rendering it completely useless. The LCD beneath is fine, in fact I have already separated the LCD from the digitizer itself.
My question is:
Can I buy a replacement digitizer for the TF200 and install it to my TF300?
They seem to be the same ribbons and i'm sure the dimensions are the same.
The problem is the digitizer for the TF300 is around $150 and just $50 for the TF200.
Dude word of advice only buy the tf300 glass. But replacing it will be a pain but good luck to you

Almost sure,,
Hello hello,
i recently smashed up the same digitizer of my tf300t. There are no videos about opening the thing, so i proceeded and could unplugged the digitizer without any complication. So, after long searching i found ur question and realize that the connector is just the same. I'm almost sure that tf200 should work properly with tf300.
best regards,
Abrhm
Not the same
I'm sure you have probably figured this out by now, since it's been months, but the TF200 and the TF300 digitizers are indeed DIFFERENT.. And the TF300 can be procured pretty easily these days for about $70.00..
So, this is for the benefit of anyone else who happens to stumble across this post.
Also, heed, there has been a significantly high rate of folks, myself included, who have changed the digitizer out only to find that the touch-screen still doesn't work due to some other issue..

Remove eee pad touch screen

Hello,
I recently bought an eee pad with a broken touch screen (it has a crack in it) for dirt cheap but the normal screen itself is fine. I wanted to use the eee pad as a photo frame. I wanted to permanently remove the touch screen so you can actually see the screen. Is their an easy way to do this or do all of the other components "rest" on the touch screen?
Thanks

Google is our friend.
Doesn't appear to be glued to the LCD just the mounting bracket.

Seems like having a tablet like that just for a photo frame is overkill have you looked into just replacing the digitizer? They're about $50 on ebay.

I would go for it, if you do it would be cool if you post some pics, my tab is an out of warranty refurb I might have to replace something someday as well.

[Q] Screen won't turn on

Hello and thanks for reading this. First, a clarification- I'm under the impression that the front of a GS3 is the "front glass," with the digitizer underneath, and the amoled screen underneath that. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's how I'll refer to them below.
Yesterday I attempted to replace the broken glass on my GS3, and found that not only was the glass cracked, but the digitizer was too. I got the glass off, but managed to crack/warp the digitizer in the process. I'm sure there's no damage to the amoled screen, maybe a couple of light scratches, but now the screen doesn't turn on. It was working fine that morning. Now, the screen does absolutely nothing. LED functions fine.
The phone will vibrate/LED will light when I get a notification, and I have 3 batteries all at 100% charge. So I (think I) know that it's just the screen components that are messed up. Do I have to buy the $150 assembly? Or is there an easier, cheaper (!) fix? When I get home tonight, I'll try download mode, removing the sim, but I'm not sure if I want to reflash firmware yet. Thanks for any ideas.

The amoled screen is directly under the digitizer. However if you break your digitizer, there's no way for your phone to respond rendering your amoled screen useless anyway. It's essentially one unit because of the way it's manufactured.
Why would you reflash firmware? If you replace the entire display assembly it'll fix it. Your issue isn't software related.

I don't know how Samsung designed it, but I would think the amoled screen would still light up and show stuff, even if the digitizer's broken. As for flashing, it's a suggestion I found through Google. I was sure it wouldn't do anything, which is why I wanted to save it for last. Thanks for the relpy.

Help ! Dropped my phone screen cracked and not responding to touch. Display works

I dropped my phone and the glass cracked and doesn't respond to touch but the display turns on and looks fine.
Is there a repair kit I can get and if so will it be very expensive? I .confident I can repair it but just wondering what kit and how much. As I thought if the touch didn't work it'd be really expensive ?

Sounds like you need a new digitizer (and obviously glass). You CAN get just the glass/digitizer/display panel, but its honestly A LOT of work to take the display out cleanly. I would recommend getting the entire screen assembly for about the same price, but includes the plastic frame and some gaskets and possibly buttons too, so you pretty much just need to swap the main board and ribbon cables and such. Muuuch easier. Runs you about $125 from amazon, but it made my phone feel brand new again, no more screen burn in, no dings around the phone, etc. The only thing I ran into with this that was weird was you have to reflash the stock ROM to get firmware onto the new display. Otherwise you won't have touch! But its easy. Also, a USB OTG cable and wireless mouse were nice to have during this process, but probably not necessary.
if you want me to link you to YouTube videos of both procedures (just the glass/display/digitizer VS entire assembly) I can, just quote me and let me know
