(Yet another) Poor GPS question. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Questions & Answers

IF THIS POST IS MISPLACED, TELL ME SO I CAN POST IN THE RIGHT SESSION.
Hello to all.
I just bought the RN7Pro from a well known chinese shopping platform. I've chosen the chinese version of the device because it was cheaper, the box would be shipped sealed, and I have no problems in using the phone in english or instaling the Google Services by myself, as it is possible to download them right from de Xiaomi AppStore.
I live in South America, and the GPS do not conect to my local satellites. It rather comunicantes to satellites from China, Russia, UK and USA. The signal is poor and the fixing is not stable.
For some kind of preservation sake, because I have the phone for less than a week, for now I just want to keep it as stock as possible. Locked bootloader, stock recovery and stock rom, unrooted.
But I really need the GPS working as it should.
My question is: could someone teache me (friendly, I an not too used to these things) if there is a way to edit the "gps.conf" file and inject the correct NTP_Servers mantaining the phone as stock as it can be.
Or if its possible to root keeping the stock recovery and the stock rom just to get access to the GPS.conf file, and then unroot and leave all back to normal, leaving behind only the modified gps.config.
And with minimal, to no, chance of bricking my phone.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thank you!

I did that, but still I don't get any satellite from my region. As I said, Iive in South America but it seens I can't connect to any server from here.

Then I don't know.
I live in Spain and using the Chinese Rom still.
I use also GPS Fix from Play Store, (gray satellite icon) it gives some more info.
There are some options at GPS settings, have you toggled it?

Yes. It is toggled to high precision mode.
I think I will have to root my phone.

yeah lets hope
yeah lets hope for that.
that vivo root app doesnt work for me. it begins then i get google services crash which leads to a reboot, only for the app to finish with an X id imagine meaning unsuccessful .
edit:
turned it off charge, and it worked.
even with English some menus etc are still in Chinese . liaow are rolling the phone out now with an international rom so wonder if thats what we have which i doubt.
How are you guys liking the phone? Except for the fact that some of the sub menus still are in Chinese. I noticed a beta version of Fun Touch Rom 1.17.11 is up, can't read the changelog though as it's in Chinese!
I've gotten Photo+ to work, even printed out the picture to see if it worked and it did. Tried to get the navigation to work. In one of their Vivo videos, three students use the AR Navi in Finland, so I was hoping this could be used in Europe, and it probably still can only again all the submenus are in chinese. There are downloadble maps, but as far as I can tell only Chinese cities.
By the way I am Mars from Denmark on the Liaow page
I find that text on screen seems to break up words as it hits the edge of the screen instead of moving the entire word to a new line. Same when reading online text or in apps etc. No sub menu to change text size to fix this. Anyone know what the button under the finger print scanner is ?

there is no button under the finger print scanner and I have the same problem with the words breaking up at the edge of the screen and its really frustrating and also I am having a problem locating my self using google map app do you guys know how to fix it and thanks.
Settings>Mix-Match>Font.... There you can change font size but still the same, breaking up words.
Sent from my vivo Xplay3S using Tapatalk
Found that in mix match. I'd imagine its to do with the translation from Chinese. We need an international ROM. Even the manuals in the phone are Chinese which is useless The button on the back is to take pictures with on the camera. I'll have a look at my maps see if I can sort it.

OK installed Google maps and turned on GPS data and WiFi. It did nothing. Searched my network again and picked the one I'm on then it seemed to work. Not sure if it knew were I lived based on my Google now location, but when I searched a route it asked me to start from my location. Seems to be working from that end. The maps won't find my location though when clicking the location button. So maybe there's a problem there with gps
Sent from my vivo Xplay3S using Tapatalk
It takes almost 10 to 20 minutes first time to get satellites, after that 2 or 3 mins and ready to go, let it on gmaps until gps starts working

Why want a sub-forum on XDA when there's a whole forum dedicated to international Vivo users? I assume the chances are low that a Xplay 3S sub-forum will ever be added to XDA...
I just registered for that forum, not too many people there yet though.
As for the GPS issue, yes it does take 20 mins for the first fix, then 1-2min for the second time you try. After that it Works perfectly.
The fingerprint scanner is a button as well. With air wake gestures enabled and blackscreen you can activate the phone by pressing the fingerprint button and Draw a V or M to activate the function of the choice.

Yeah, sure. The community still needs to grow and there're not many Vivo users outside of China. But hey, we need to start somewhere!
Hi to all Proud owners of "VIVO Xplay 3S", can anyone please advise how is the DTS-X sound quality?
Also do you get any preloaded 2k content on the phone?
How is the sound quality when playing music via stock headphones?
And last but not least do you know if this device support Wi-fi "AC" Standard or support for wi-fi "N" both 2.4 and 5 Ghz?
Any recommended site to order this Device ? As I live in Ireland.
Many Thanks
Hi mate from Ireland myself most of us if not all bought it from liaow . HiFi sound when enabled is amazing. It only works on vivos own apps video music etc. There was 2 or 3 vids preloaded for samples basically the ads floating around the web. Crystal clear. Not sure about the WiFi but it works good. I find the network signal isn't as good as my last phone. 4g works well. The translated text from Chinese to English is a bit messy . ie : words broken at edge of the screen . small glitches until the international ROM is released . overall I'm happy.

Build quality is excellent too, in fact I'm looking at getting the ZTE Nubia X6 from Liaow as well

Began uploading, at around 10% at the time of writing this. I wonder about flashing it myself to see if anything is changed. If anyone knows if Saudi Arabia's N9005 needs another PIT file, now would be a good time to tell us.
Because among the first ODX firmwares were the German and Dutch T-Mobile branded ones, and they needed a PIT to flash properly. xD
ETA 45 minutes.
Saudi, and the whole Middle East fall under EMEA, and most manufacturers tend to divide continents through that regulation rather then actual continent itself.
It's XXU and that's how all the European roms begin with. I'd say your good to go as nearly all European roms have the same PIT (excluding branded firmwares as you said).
Whether it is branded, that remains to be seen. Someone from Saudi could inform us well if the users there dominate in Unlocked or Carrier phones.

Odin flashed it with all green and said PASS!!
But general stability and battery life, can't tell you those without using the thing for a couple of days at least.
Also, don't you think that without experimenting a little XDA wouldn't have been where it is now? Every time I flash, even though I've taken backups and whatnot, I've embraced the possibility that it might be the last thing I've done to the phone.
Phone just finished loading, I'm setting it up and seeing what's different. It's safe to flash.

Just read posts in any Lollipop thread for Note 3 and you will see people in trouble with Bluetooth
It might be that already the branded version you have sorted out partially those issues
Basically the problem is that using smart bands or smart watches the connection sometimes is lost and it is a mess to get them connected again
Even with my Plantronics earphone sometimes I need to keep trying many times to connect as it doesn't start
These problems are with the only unbranded Lollipop release that is the Polish one

I'm flashing this Saudi Arabia version as well, ad I understand from you that the bluetooth problems seem to have been fixed! Did I understand correctly?
You can always pick any branded version BOD6 or this one and uncompress all files.
Replace cache and hidden files with any of the unbranded roms (I use the less debloated ITV).
Re-tar all files and then MD5.
Then just install as usual via Odin, it won't trip knox as it's official.

No i wanted to say that im waiting for feedback too
Anyone knows which modem version is in N9005XXUGBOEA? Will it work well in Europe?
Fantastic!
The first tests are very positive. I went far from the phone a couple of times with my Gear Fit and the Note realized immediately the disconnection (it was not like that with the previuos version)
When I was back close to the phone immediately the smart band Gear Fit connected again both times.
Same test and same success with the Plantronics earphone, so indeed it seems that this new Lollipop version is managing correctly the bluetooth connections!
Also the gallery speed and the Chrome browser speed seem to have been improved

I don't know which modem version is there, I can only say that at the very moment it seems to work properly in Italy (TIM) where I am based... connecting correctly in 4G/LTE
This version shows again 4G as the icon, instead LTE at it was in the last version. But this is just a graphic difference. The internet speed is very very good

Marshmallow for the DAV-701L. Is this real life??

I went today looking for my daily dose of disappointment looking for the update or any news of it, only to come across this.

Super hyped, i am only wondering can i flash this on a European DAV-701L?
It mentions somethins for a CUSTC which is not the same as mine but it IS a DAV-701L.
Your thoughts on this?
Nice, mine is CUSTC100D002. Don't know if it will work, not want to brick my phone
Just like mine, it is also CUSTC100D002. I am on the verge of flashing but i am having second thoughts...

Good find. Thanks for the news. It is definitely the genuine Firmware update for the P8Max and the link provided is directly from an official Huawei server. I downloaded it just for the sake of it as my CUSTC number is for Middle East and noticed it also has an OTA update section in a separate folder. However, when updating it stated incompatible firmware and aborted the process-no harm done to the device or existing settings. I wish someone could find a way to change the default CUSTC numbers so that we could mess around with it.
I would say if anyone is looking for the version for their own phones then simply go to the Huawei support section on their website and just keep an eye on the downloads section to see if your version pops up.
So it looks that we are finally beginning to see the Android M coming our way but it sure is a slow and painful journey.
I have it installed. Everything works perfect.

Hi! Could you kindly explain how you managed to install this update on your P8 Max. My one is the Middle East [Kuwait] version of the firmware. Also does anyone know what to do with the flashable OTA update folder in the separate folder found inside the download pack?
Well, after reading the friend from Romania succeeded, i tried it myself with my CUSTC100D002 and it sailed through the installation... No problems, just rebooted, doing a check and will get back...
I did exactly like in the tutorial that you will find at the link post above, were you find the rom.
Huawei browser is missing, Huawei Swype keyboard is missing, launcher seems to have only 4x4 and 4x5 settings (pretty sure the original 5.1.1 had a 5x5 also.)....
Quite disappointed so far...
I've had with those a-holes. One step forward, 10 steps back. Going to ask for a refund on this POS. No respect towards the buyer/user whatsoever.
I like the update, don't use the Huawei apps. I love the EMUI 4.0 themes, use Dark Ui theme now

Literally 2-3 posts above
Things are missing, huawei keyboard (which was actually nice), Huawei browser, the 5x5 which is quite important as the 4x5 feels like half the screen is unused.
They really pulled their eyes out with their own hands.
If i don't find a way to go back to 5.1.1 i'm going for a refund.
well mine didnt work. Followed the direction got to the update screen says it cant find the up date. Yes i moved the file to external sd. Is there anything im missing ?!!!!!

Huawei Watch 2 China Version

Hello guys!
I purchased this from China and realise I cannot change the language to english. And also having to use the China Version of Android Wear. Is there any way to flash and change the system language or change to global android wear 2.0?
I have my eyes on this too and would like to know myself!
On the original it looked fairly straightforward, hopefully it is on this one too...
You don't have to use android ware 2.0 chinese version. I have global version installed on my iPhone and have successfully connected to huawei watch 2. I could enable Feed and sync calendar cards, email cards etc.

I don't want to risk flashing HW1 firmware on this.
BTW, is it possible that the developer preview for Huawei Watch 2 will also be available to the public? Is it also possible to just ask Huawei for the files and flash it myself?
They provided a QR which helped me download the Android Wear Chinese Version but it still shows the text in Chinese even if the language in my phone is set to English. Are you saying that there is an Android Wear China App (com.google.android.wearable.app.cn) which can make the HW2 text in English? I think I could live with that for now, else I'll just wait for the English Version before using this daily...
(I can't post the actual link from the QR code, but it's just from VMall dot Com)

you are right, better not risk to flash other ROM, just wait a bit, developers will give us all we need. I am waiting too.... I am trying to get custom recovery on it with no results...... will wait too... you cant set watch to english, no way at all. forget it until we will see an international ROM

Hi, I finally given up the 2nd gen and would opt for the first gen even it is actually more expensive.
the 2nd gen is simply... a toy watch. The original one would seem sustain better.
But my last concern would be battery, will the 2nd gen last much longer than the first one?

Nice is not what people say it is, is what you really like, this is for all things, always.
in second, if you dont mind to spend a lot (my personal opinion) in a watch that was out on 2015 is ok, but 2thgen is better in performances, pixels, ram, battery and so on.
I have apple watch steel ($$$$$$) that is perfect for iphone owners(me), huawei 1th gen, good for sure and really nice, now time to try something more powerfull and also price is finally "real".
anyway, as I say, up to you.
battery is a bit better than 1thgen cause is bigger but not that much, depend on how you will use it, gps and gyro for exaple are consuming a bit, but it will be not a problem for you cause 1th gen have not gps....
by the way, why you are care about version? you are in HK you should find international version too. I always buy my phones there, all international.

The international version in HK will usually cost at least 40% more than that in China. That's the only reason.
On second thought, I am getting an Huawei 2 despite the Huawei 1 is much more appealing and better build quality. In any way it is a tech toy. The battery should sustain no longer than 3 years and it worths nothing by then. So keeping the toy with latest techology would be a good choice.
under what circumstances you can use the china watch except using it as an digital watch?
Almost all app are incompatible. Not even the spotify. Only those happened to be in the Huawei app store will run.

Hello mcdull,
i dont use spotify but i can ensure you I have a lot of apps working, just examples: XDA, eurosport, myemail, currency, some weather apps and others. of course all apps I have in to phone can push notifications even if they are not installed into watch.
I tried to extract micro.apk from android phone apps and it works too.
maybe i do not understand well your concern, if this, sorry..

I most case I were not able to get the app running, either with the start up screen or just without data connection (in app). I cannot see gmail there as well which I need most. Skype wont connect as well.. though I dont use it much.
BTW, I am in HK and therefore I am not inside the GFW.

General Share Rom Black Shark 4 - 4 Pro | Global Rom - China Rom

Hello, nice to see you again in a new thread.
I hope that all of you, as a non-specialist user, please do not arbitrarily interfere with the device without specific instructions from us. However, you are the hardworking bees that will help us a lot.
Every time the device says an update, go to file manager - internal storage - ota_package and copy that file to another folder, then share it here for everyone to reuse.
I have now copied the MP4 version of the china rom - Black Shark 4, and am happy to share it here.
Download link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sXhbaeqUUUGYn7PSRqQgVl9-UKaH7G9x/view?usp=sharing
Thanks for sharing. hopefully you can share unlocking and twrp soon. By the way, so the china Rom is at MP4 now? while global Rom has just released the MP1. way too delayed.
Thinking to buy the Chinese version 6/128 for around 320€ (around Poco F3 price), but so scared about the software updates and unlock bootloader/twrp/root.
Appart from the amazing work of @SFMobile Channel , there are some devs behind this quite amazing hardware-price device?? How many chances do you have to unlock completely this phone?
Sry for this "idiot" questions, but I'm sure more people thinking to buy this phone are interested on it
Is it okay to update via ota? Using the file you shared above? Is it okay to update the global rom with that?

Japanese version will be released in July.
By the way, the Japanese version is $ 500
The price setting is strange
Hello, i just bought a Black Shark 4 6/128 but it comes with the global rom. How can i intall the Chinese version of the rom? i think the chinese rom is better and more optimized, and recived better updates, am i wrong? Thank for the help
Please contact my personal fb, I will assist you with this problem.
Maybe BLU can be done if you cooperate? If the meaning of Hard WORK is just to burn a Chinese ROM, I'm not interested in that, but
FB is an abbreviation for facebook, isn't it? Where is it?

Thats not a solution. You need to install Google Services Framework 11 to get the full Google experience, chat updates etc. But version 11 is blocked to be installed by default (or by law in that sense)

I have a Black shark 4. As soon as i install the chinese rom i will let you know how is it going for me.
I have a black shark 4 pro with the china rom. Most google apps work, after you install the files you see on youtube videos. The problem is google assistant doesn't work, neither does google maps. They start up then crash or don't start up at all. I hope there will soon be a way to flash to a global rom, i didn't know how much i used those two google apps until i wasn't able to use them.

For google maps, you must sign out of your account. Turn on airplane mode>open google maps>setting>sign out>Close maps>Off airplane mode>open maps and use it as usual. Can use maps but cannot link to your google. Its the only way for now.
