When trying a webrtc connection on the Huawei Mate 9 in Chrome Browser latest version (or Chrome Beta, or Firefox) I can see my partner,
but my partner can't see me. My camera will not record and transfer my video. The small window with my mirror picture remains black.
In the menu comes a message for giving permissions to the camera, I do.
I've checked permissions to camera, audio on chrome browser and in phone settings. Permission all given.
The same procedure on an Samsung and an Nexus Smartphone works fine.
Only on my new Huawei Mate 9 the camera brings no pictures.
I can only see my partner.
I'm using Android 7.0
Version of phone firmware: MHA-L29C432B138
I think it is a camera issue.
The camera works fine on normally recording videos.
Any Ideas ?

The firmware MHA-L29C432B156 update at 24. Feb. 2017 does not fix it.
WebRTC is not working on Huawei Mate 9.
If you want to use video conference, video chat in browser (Chrome, Firefox, ...) without installing an app like whatsup or facebook,
then you must use a Samsung, Google Pixel or anything, but not a Huawei Mate 9 smartphone. Bad.
The service members of Huawei hotline don't understand the problem or you get an automated answer.
If you go to chrome://gpu you will see a line pointing to known gpu-related bugs. Between the listing, there is a mediacodec bug directly related to WebRTC: http://crbug.com/615108
Maybe that's the main culprit here.

Huawei fixed the bug with Update to Android 8.0 on Mate 9.
https://simplewebrtc.com/demo.html
Using that I see myself in the black box.

Was anyone of you successful to get Netflix running in 1080p?
I received my OP6 today. As I wasn't offered Netflix in Play Store, I downloaded the apk directly from Netflix and installed it. Netflix is working, but I don't seem to get 1080p running though my network connection is fine (28 MBit/s).

I downloaded Netflix from Google play just fine, how did you check what resolution is playing?
I just checked it by watching, and it is very "pixely", hence for sure no 1080p. Does an unlocked bootloader matter? Root is not installed yet.
Edit: Ok, I guess I found the problem. My OP6 isn't passing safety net (CTS profile match fail). Will have to install Magisk.
Unlocked bootloader = no netflix in play store. At least for me. Quality seems pretty good but no idea how to display the resolution used.
Netflix was in play store for me [emoji16]

I found out now that unlocking the bootloader turns Widevine from L1 to L3. Relocking the bootloader doesn't bring back L1.
But with Magisk installed I pass SafetyNet now and Netflix seems to have a high resolution.
Is there any way to find out the actual resolution of a Netflix stream?
I had to download the apk directly as it did not show up in the Play Store for me. I can't tell what the resolution is, but it looks sharp enough.
But apparently a lot of people have looked into this and the consensus seems to be that unlocking the bootloader will block HD content.
I don't get HD streaming on Netflix even though I pass the SafetyNet test.
Unfortunate.
I always find Netflix shows just seem very dark on the 6 as if the brightness is turned down. Really difficult to see stuff sometimes and seems like everything is filmed at night.

Have you tried turning the brightness up?

Yes makes little difference, still not really watchable. This is watching over 4g not that it should really make any difference.
Netflix is playing in 1080p on my OP6 - looks crisp and even crispier with brightness all the way up. Running on wifi and using Planet Earth to test.

Same here. With everything hidden in Magisk I am definitely getting HD in Netflix and Prime Video. No blurriness or pixelation at all.

This is exciting. Netflix/Amazon streaming is the only reason I haven't rooted yet. Any idea as to how this is possible when the 5 and 5T weren't able to get HD streaming?
Could any other rooted users check their streaming quality?

No idea, sorry. It's possible there's been some change in how the OP6 handles DRM.

Yes, just search for "Test Patterns" and play one of the videos, it will show you the current resolution (use original video size, if it's zoomed to fit the screen you can't see the resolution).
Strangly, my OP6 just gets HD (1280x720) but not Full HD (1920x1080).

Is your bootloader locked or unlocked? Netflix streaming quality can be selected in account settings at www.netflix.com/YourAccount -> Playback settings.
Edit: I'm running a bootloader-locked OP6, and the "Test Patterns" videos always shows 1280x720 no matter what my playback settings are set to.

Same here. Locked OP 6 and Max res 1280x720
+1 ?
Has anybody found a modded Netflix apk?
OnePlus worked together with Netflix to provide UHD HDR content on the OnePlus 7 Pro, unfortunately the security level changes after unlocking the bootloader from L1 to L3, which means DRM ruins the experience on the phone because it removes HD movies and shows.
And yes, after relocking the bootloader the security level should revert back to L1, but I really enjoy using things like V4A, YouTube Vanced, Titanium Backup, AdAway and so on

this one seems to work, it's a little outdated but after deleting the Netflix_Stub and PartnerNetflixActivation app I was able to install the modded UHD apk. HDR is supposed to work as well

It's the main app, if you go in to Titanium backup and search Netflix you should see two things and those are the things he says to uninstall. I however still couldn't install that netflixlatest.ultrahdwithdolby5.1.apk :/

Just got to know from Netflix customer service, there was never UHD support for any phone. All phone plays only in HD 720p with HDR (Only supported devices). For unlocked bootloader 480p.
Check below link for list of HD and HDR supported phones and tablet.

This is unacceptable in my opinion. HDR for mobile devices? Hell yeah! But limiting resolution to 720p is a joke. I pay the full subscription fee every month to watch 4k content and still don't get above 720p movies on my smartphone/tablet. HDR 720p does look nice, maybe a good compromise in comparison with 1080p, but definitely not as good as 1440p non-HDR!
you can scream all over, but it will change nothing. such is netflix
Yes. I need free petrol too.
