Hello,
I noticed no one is selling Verizon V50's on ebay but they are selling sprint ones. I know on cdma phones in the past since there was a slight difference in the cdma range that Sprint used vs. verizon that you could only use some of the bands if you switched carriers. Is this phone 100% compatible if I switch carriers? It has been a decade but I think it was something like 1950 vs. 1900 mhz or ghz and two bands per carrier and only one worked. It has been very long since I looked into this sort of thing.
I'm not sure if this is true but there is a youtube video where the reviewer says that 5g is carrier specific so you can't take a Sprint 5G phone and use 5G on verizon. Not sure about the other bands/frequencies.
Have a sprint version bought it because it said it would work on verizon. Put a working verizon sim in and have full bars but only get lte can not make or recieve calls or text. Wondering if you've had any luck with it. I cant remenber which site i was on but a lady claimed to have it working with VOLTE. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes we are all a bit confused about the 5g, but the rest will work because Sprint supports all bands.

You can try going to ##3282# by dialing it, going to apn settings, 3 buttons at the top, reset to default
Thanks I tried it and samething when I make a call it says I'm roaming any help would be appreciated
I updated mine to android 10 and it works like a charm. I cant say if 5g works as there are only a few areas in Denver that are live.
Works on Verizon?
Yes. Not sure if android 10 beta has something to do with it but I have been using it for a month now.
Is it a beta from LG or did you do it through another source?

It's from lg and Sprint but it's leaked by someone because LG did not release it. Final will be out very soon though
Here's the issue I'm having at any help would be appreciated. I can not get my Verizon sim to work it gets lte but that's it. I've tried suggestions in this thread with the exception of installing Android 10. I checked the UICC unlock and it says can not authenticate that's without a sim in it. With my Verizon sim in it it just spins. Bought it from that yy store off eBay and they claim it's unlocked. I've never had an issue like this before with an unlocked Sprint phone. Again any help would be appreciated.

I have a hunch it's gonna be a simple setting somewhere but not sure where. I have mobile strings to automatic so that should be good?
Any luck or others that have been successful? Thinking about getting a sprint unlocked to use on Verizon

You'll have to bootloader unlock and modify some files in the OP partition; join the telegram group please and make sure to NOT update (disable the auto updates and disable the update center package).
Have you guys tried going into the Data settings by dialing ##3282# and editing the APN and MMSC settings to the below? After I made those changes I can get group messages and LTE. The problem I'm running into is that I can't get VoLTE (HD Calling) enabled. I don't see the advanced calling option withing Network & Internet settings.

Hi all. Anyone knows if a european model will be usable on 4G in Scandinavia or is this just a plain 5G phone/model (LM-V500EM)?

You won't see a model that only has 5g capabilities for many years, so I think you're in the clear xD. You should check the band compatibility though

Thanks.
It's the LTE I'm a bit worried about.
In Norway LTE is on band 38 / 2600Mhz but this band is not mentioned on GSMarena specs for LG V50 (I do have it on LG V30 European model).
However, band 38 is mentioned here:

I bought my HTX One X online, took it to ATT, they had to do a sim card upgrade for $25. I took it home and realized that I was only getting 1G speeds. A lady at the ATT store said it's because I bought it online so it's not compatible with their 4G LTE. She said I would have to root/unlock it. What do I need to do?

That.. what..
When you say "One X" do you mean the One XL (AT&T branded) or the international One X. If it is the international, it isn't 4G/LTE Compatible.
Check your Mobile network > Access Point Names
and make sure "ATT LTE" is listed
Also, are you running 1.85 or 2.20?

If you bought international version, you should still be able to get HSPA+, just no LTE. No way you would be on "1G" speeds.

Yup. APN settings for HSPA and HSPA+ are completely the same. Its the same network. The improvements done to upgrade to HSPA+ don't affect how your phone connects to the network, they are done in the background (fiber optic backhaul). The only thing that determines whether you get HSPA versus HSPA+ is whether the backhaul has been done in your area.

Anything is better than the 1G I'm currently getting..
When I moved from my iPhone 4 to the galaxy nexus I was unable to get HSpa+ , only HSpa. Your plan has to be provisioned for hspa+ or late to use specific apn's. The hspa+ APN is "phone" and lte is "pta".
The imei for the international hox is not going to register as a "4g" phone so they don't have the option of putting you in the right data plan.
I fixed this by searching YouTube for a video of someone showing their imei of a att 4g phone. I called att had them switch my phone imei to that and then they were able to put me on a lte plan. My gnex didn't support lte but the pta apn is faster on hspa+ also. If your still on an unlimited data plan you also have the added bonus of being throttled at 5gbs instead ofn3

The APNs didn't work for me. Are IEMIs not unique per phone? Could you provide me with the correct one?
what does it say in the boot loader? Evita or endeavor, even easier go to settings about and then hardware information what does it say under Processor? Quad core or dual core?
Picked up htc 8x international to use on at&t 3G u.s.
having issues
1. At&t 3G data doesn't work well. Seems to have issues keeping connection
2. Search doesn't work well. Again on at&t 3G, can't use voice search but voice search works on tmo and WiFi
3. No mms even after manually setting apn
4. Manually set apn for both data and mms
5. Tethering checks for provisioning
6. This is 3/4G device, but doesn't work well on at&t
any suggestions?

KJ, what APN settings are you using? I went through half a dozen before I finally got the right ones. Also, any idea what the exact model of the phone is?
I used the more popular ones, I think.
apn
wap.cingular
[email protected]
Wireless.cingular.com
I've found by selecting the other carriers in the connection setup some things start to work.
How do I get the model #?
It's is sim free from UK. No branding but behaves as if its branded
What apn worked for you for windows 8 and at&t 3G?
Search doesn't work consistently on mobile 3G on at&t. Not happy with purchase.
T-mo works well but using 4G t-mo service. No issues.
Try this one;
MMS APN
Access Point Name: pta
WAP Gateway (URL): proxy.mobile.att.net
WAP Gateway port: 80
MMSC address: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
To find the model number go to Settings>About and it's under phone information.
The problem with the unlocked phones is that even though they are unlocked, they still have the original carrier firmware and as far as I know, there are only a couple of models that you can flash with a stock HTC rom. You may be in luck since it is a European model. You can take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137556.
Anyway, good luck to you. It's a great phone.

T-Mobile and AT&T LTE bands can be VERY different in certain regions, if that is the case I doubt that is easy/possible - look around in the T-Mobile and AT&T Note 3 forums (there are like 5 Note 3 forums in total on xda) and you will see pretty large bounties for converting certain versions from one to another. If the bands are the same you also need to check if the APNs are automatically set correctly when you change the SIM.

OMG, do you mean if I buy a canadian version of Note 3 SM-N900W8, it can be used with US AT&T network? Can you please confirm that? I am looking to make such a purchase. Many thanks.
After several long calls with Verizon and help from Motorola insiders, I have been given to understand that:
1. Droid Maxx if not activated on Verizon, before leaving US, cannot be used on other carriers (say in Europe or Asia).
The reason is the SIM unlock cannot be done by the customer support since they won't see the device in their network if it is not activated first.
2. The activation cannot happen outside US, since Verizon does not have a network.
So bottom line is get the device activated before you import it from US.
Now, my Droid Maxx is locked to Verizon. I know the boot loader can be unlocked. Will this help me in flashing something that can get rid of the SIM lock that Verizon has in place.
My device is an employee edition so perhaps there was some extra protection added there by Verizon.
Please help.
I do not have a Maxx, but I'm replying because you PM'd me asking to take a look at this thread..
It has been my experience that Verizon's 4GLte phones are sim unlocked (on the GSM side) out of the box. I thought that was a condition of VZW's 700Mhz spectrum auction win? One potential issue is does the phone support the needed bands out of the box (think Bionic where a hack was needed to enable bands needed for T-mobile).
That being said, if your Maxx is truly SIM LOCKED, then unlocking the bootloader wont help you SIM unlock, nor will flashing a 3rd party Rom after unlocking the bootloader.
where are you located, and who is your carrier? Do they use CDMA for voice, or GSM? What happens when you put a non-VZW sim in the phone?

Thanks Mark.
The phone Droid Maxx does support these bands since there are others who are using the same phone on GSM networks in the country.
The networks in India are:
2G capabilities GSM 900, GSM 1800
3G capabilities UMTS 2100
4G capabilities LTE 2300 (this one won't work with the phone, plus my carrier does not have it either)
The CDMA is CDMA 2000 - but I have not been able to try with a CDMA SIM, but that one has a higher probability of working.
When I put a non-VZ SIM, and set to Global mode, it does not detect any signal and the search network does pretty much nothing. The automatic mode tries to connect but then throws an error saying "can't connect to this network at this time"
I am using a brand new nano SIM card (which now is back in my Moto Defy with an adapter.)
Earlier I had a normal SIM converted to a nano SIM and that one did not work, but after I put in APN manually, I was able to access data.
I tried another user's cut-nano SIM and that one worked for data out of the box (another GSM provider).
Ditto for me, but I am using DroidMini... I also have DroidMAXX which is working great (even unlocked its BL and rooted it)...
I am also from India... Using it in GSM networks... I may get one Nano CDMA SIM to test later and will report here for sure...
Thanks...

Well, we have interacted on Rimweb recently.
The radio on the Droid series is the same. The difference between the mini and the maxx in your case is that the mini has never been activated on VZ network and hence it is SIM locked. Whereas, the Maxx would have been purchased as a used item (perhaps just activated and then sold off?). So that takes care of the SIM unlock part.
Yesterday I spend around 60 minutes with global support, VZ.
I escalated the issue to the supervisor.
He checked and said that the IMEI is clean and not in any sort of negative list. So there is nothing else that they can do.
He also said, the phones are unlocked by default for global use.
Obviously they don't want to dig deeper into why three phones are not working on GSM in India.
I am now running out of avenues. Does anyone have some debugging tool which can log what is happening when the phone tries to log on to the network?

The current Droid Maxx that Verizon sells supports the following..
LTE Band 13/4 700/1700
EDGE/GSM: 850/900/1800/1900,
HSPA/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100 (download speeds to 42.2 Mbps, upload speeds to 5.76 Mbps
From what you listed, the Maxx should get GSM/Edge/HSPA/UMTS coverage there. And of course, no LTE.
The CDMA side of the Verizon phones is still "locked" so I also would not expect CDMA to work. In other words, if your carrier NEEDS CDMA, stop trying.

I've been through this with some trying the Moto X in India, and I've been through it while trying my T-Mobile and ATT sim's in my Verizon Moto X.
From what you are describing, it sounds like your APN settings for your carrier on the phone are not set right.
Example... When I put my T-Mobile SIM into my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4, I get "unknown sim" and bars, but no network connectivity. Nothing works. By going into the mobile network settings on the phone and adding an APN with the T-Mobile settings, features like calling, SMS, data, etc. start working. I have had occasions where I thought I had the APN right, as calls and data worked, but MMS only partially worked (would send but not receive). When I do have the settings right, everything works. Similar thing happens on my Moto X with T-Mobile SIM.

Unless you have an active account with Verizon, and are trying to use their service when traveling, Verizon wont help you. In other words, unless you are trying to get your Verizon phone, working on Verizon's Global Roaming service, on your currently active Verizon account, they wont help you.
Even if you are a Verizon customer who is just traveling and popped out your VZW SIM in favor of using a local prepay sim to save data/voice costs, once you pop that VZW SIM out, they wont assist.
But you have received confirmation of what I said.. the GSM side is unlocked.
The SIM you are trying to use is from a GSM India carrier? As long as they only use GSM (no CDMA required), your only hope will be working with them. Telling them your phone is SIM Unlocked and going from there. Or finding a local message board for the carrier, and hope people are discussing use of "3rd party" phones, and you might get some help there.
I really think it will come down to the APN settings for the GSM carrier not being correct on the Maxx.
I can't offer any more than that. Sorry.

I have now put in a CDMA SIM card, but run into another problem with that. I will activate that SIM on another phone and then pop it in the Maxx again and check. But CDMA should work fine as reported by other users.
But the problem is the GSM part, because that is what we need to get working.
Unless you have an active account with Verizon, and are trying to use their service when traveling, Verizon wont help you. In other words, unless you are trying to get your Verizon phone, working on Verizon's Global Roaming service, on your currently active Verizon account, they wont help you.

That is bad on the part of Verizon. I have purchased a Verizon device off-contract and that device is a global one. So I am entitled to some support from them even if I am without a service plan.

Yes. Local carrier. And for now, there are three such XDA members who have been facing the same issue. In one case, a member was able to make calls and receive calls and also use data. Then after a few minutes, the SIM invalid message popped up.

APN settings are pretty easy. I did that with my earlier SIM and I got data working. There was no voice, so I gave that SIM back to the carrier and got a brand new nano SIM. Now, nothing works. The old and new SIM are for the same number and same service provider.

Right, you got just DATA working with the APN settings, but the correct APN settings are also needed for SMS, MMS, Phone calls, etc.
I've had an issue where I had voice but no data, and it was related to APN. I've had an issue where I had voice, SMS, data but no MMS, again, it was related to APN settings for the carrier you are using.
So good luck!
the problem we sorted out to get gsm working in india first the phone must be activated on usa to get it work on india so can anyone help us > @s_u_n
So, after using the phone for a week on GSM with all application updates installed, I can safely state that
1. Verizon activation is not needed for non-VZ networks to work (at least outside US).
2. A full FXZ was installed and it probably solved the modem configuration mess that the phone might have been. Perhaps it unlocked something?
3. Four corner activation bypass method was used (as described in earlier Motorola phones).
Either 2 or 3 solved the problem
There was nothing to do with APN. Data works even without any APN settings out here, just like on my Motorola Defy.
I have rooted and s-off. Used the guide to enable additional bands. I used NV values 65626 and could get LTE in some areas but not in others. I'm starting to think it's radio related. Any suggestions?

what bands, specifically, did you enable?
Bands 2, 4, 5 and 17. I'm located in the Raleigh Durham area of NC. When it was connected to LTE I used the LTE discovery app and confirmed the uplink and downlink freqs. 1900/2100 if memory serves me correctly.
Currently using the VZW M8 on Cricket. I'm getting HSDPA but no LTE.
But I have no complaints. Phone is awesome and mobile data is working flawlessly.
Yes it's radio related. Verizon and ATT do not use all the same frequencies and bands.

Hi,
I tried to read any info about it. But I don't know....
Here is my theory: The Google Play edition (GPe) is open to any LTE channels. I know that you can turn the verizon M8 into GPe M8... (I don't know if the phone can operate on Verizon after all :S )
So hopefully that can work, but I NEVER TRIED IT!
So If some GURU can help us that would be grate. And also a "How to" -from the very beginning ( Stock rom, s-on, non rooted, etc) would be nice too.
Thank you
Ps.: I was only modifying Samsung, Sony, Motorola, Zte before. This HTC "magic" is totally new for me

You totally missed OP's point. He already enabled the require bands for AT&T LTE.

I am in Virginia. Right now using a stock Verizon M8 and I do get AT&T LTE signal( download speed is around 10M, upload is 7M. Phone info said the network is LTE).
I guess my area using band 4 for AT&T LTE.
I am considering enable band 17. If you are available, maybe you should share some thoughts of your Band-unlockin process and your LTE signal situation.
Thank you.

Your speeds are better than my VZW speeds here.

I went to an ATT store inquiring about moving from VZW. They said my M8 would NOT work on their network. Who can i contact at ATT to get the straight scoop and move? I am in Wilmington NC.
Very competitive Verizon MVNOs are starting to emerge, have you compared coverage in your area? I'm on ROK Mobile and it's freaking awesome.

Most of the ATT guys are clueless, not matter they are in store or over the phone. Just ignore them.
All you need is get an att nano sim card, put it in your verizon m8. Boom! You could text and call now!
And then you need to edit APN settings to get data working. Go to settings, Mobile data, Network settings, GCM/UMTS Options, Access point names, and add a new APN:
Name ATT Phone
APN phone
Proxy Not set
Port Not set
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication Type None
APN type default,mms,supl,hipri
APN protocol IPv4
Bearer Unspecified
save this APN and select it to use. Wait 30 sec to 1 minutes, Boom, you would have H+ or 4G LTE depending your location. For most area you would get H+.
You don't even need to root !
im on edge slow slow slow
I get HSPA+ on my stock M8. My APN is "phone"
I have GoPhone account with AT&T and I get LTE in some areas, nothing done to my phone, stock Verizon m8, apn set to nxtgenphone , I get HSPA most of the time, but I do get LTE in some locations here

I did not miss the OPs point. Reread my post. he's trying to enable bands on a phone which radio does not support it. He asked if it was a radio issue. YEP.
