I have just bought a head unit and I have to say that the Launchers out there are nothing but a total waste of time.
My needs are quite simple I want google maps displaying and I want apple music controls to change track etc as I drive.
The launchers with car logos, speeds (i already have one of those), 15 million screens with a hundred different widgets..I'm driving for gods sake all I want is music and maps on the same screen.
I have not managed to find what I need anywhere...does anyone know if such a thing exists because I am losing the will to live out here. (btw Google maps for some reason does not display the apple music controls probably because it is android, and you cannot have a split display as Apple Music does not support this).
Rant over if anyone can help it would be sincerely appreciated.
Have you tried just getting a CarPlay dongle and using Apple CarPlay?

Carplay screen
Just had a look at the Carplay for IoS 13 and this is exactly what I was looking after - if anyone knew if this is available on Android only without an iphone that would be perfect.

No problem.
buit I have to say that carplay with ios 13 is exactly what is required. Navigation on one side of the screen and musci controls on the other -p what else does anyone need?? I can do the same on android with split screen with Google maps on one side and tune in on the other but it disappears when you witch off the car and restart which is a bit of a pain.

Haha it's more like the Blackberry Storm, though. But I guess the Captivate is pretty like a Storm itself
Without that annoying SurePress feature

Wonderful Chinese do it all phones... They imitate look of almost every phone, and all tout: dual sim, wifi, TV, FM radio, touch screen. Hell the specs aren't bad just always bad interface, that iPhone wanna be OS.
Wonder if they built Android to work with their phone if people would give the Chinese knock offs a chance
Oh yea how long before we all have Wrist Watch Phones w/ Camera & Bluetooth.
Also noticed on that site, knock offs that are running android, even capacitive touch according to the site.
That looks like the new Blackberry lol
i had a friend that got a chinese iphone
it had space for 2 sim cards and made an unchangable barking sound when you got a message
lol

Hello guys!
The Screen On application was a success and we thought it could be a great idea to expand the abilities of this application. We developed a new application called App Auto Settings, that works exactly as the Screen On application but let's you take control not only of the screen, but of WiFi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, GPS and volume!
We have tested the app in as many devices as we could and it works fine, but please try it and report any bugs, suggestions or ideas, we cannot test it in all those mobile phones...
AppAutoSettings @ Android Market
Thx for share.
Not seeing option for GPS on SGSII.

So is this a beta limitation? or a limitation of GB where programs can not call for GPS on without user request like Tasker?
well, that's my bad...
at first, we wanted to take control of the GPS, but unfortunately for security reasons (good in my opinion), Google decided that only the user will be able to enable and disable the GPS, so we removed it from the application.
The screenshot though is old, and I will replace it!
Thank you for noticing it!
OK, I'm confused. No offense, but it is not very intuitive. I just downloaded it, and I cannot tell the difference between Red and Green on the Screen Timeout in the On Charge profile, and either way I set it, the screen timed out! Also, on WiFi and such, what's the difference between Red, Green and the white box? I also don't see my Navigation app.

this is good? 5 year old and outdated libraries? open your eyes...
There is this good program called QQ HD in the market, its Chinese chat program that takes after the desktop version..
Reason I am posting about it here is I use it a lot of work and for social here in China..but also this new Android version is killer.. its a model plenty of other apps could follow.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS50ZW5jZW50LmhkLnFxIl0.
Its got a handle on the sliding windows and multi functions with in itself so as to give it a multi tasking feel..
As you will see via the screen shots.. you can chat and listen to music or go to Video..
plus opens panels to see the social pages of your contacts.. kinda puts Facebook and Skypes app to shame

+1 Yes please haha. Looks amazing. So we just need a language port?
+2
What I really like is resource use.
It uses way less battery and data than any other chat program.
It's based on the old ICQ I used in the 90's
I'm sort of used to the language thing now. There's an English language version for windows, but not Android or Apple.
Yes, the copy paste function works well, so most of my conversations are in Chinese using Google or Bing as a translator..
Then most of the commands know now..
but a English version would be nice.. understanding that they are geared to the Chinese Market so I don't hold my breath for this too soon.
We are lucky to have the English PC version, but there seems to be times I have to resort to the Chinese version for video chat as it seems the English version is going through different servers and sometimes the bandwidth sucks..
But the use of PtoP for TV, music, social all in one makes for a nice hub if you are this region.
bit scary thinking about how many people are logged in on their servers if you take into account mobile and hardwired.

Since the interface seems draggy on the Tablet HDMI stick builds/hardware for 2.4ghz wireless control devices or bluetooth keyboards and mice, I am looking for something with a remote, so the lady has "ease of use", and "less complication...
Think one-trick-pony for Netflix.
Has anyone used the AndroidTV's that Roku seems to be based on such as something like these:

I want to know if these remotes function in Netflix, as I know their app really sucks with a pointing device such as mouse, mainly due to their foreground popup, not actually being a popup and when using arrow keys it scrolls the background... Do remotes on devices such as this work in the old Android (4.0) builds of Netflix, or has someone tried any of these AndroidTV boxes/sticks that work well with an IR remote and Netflix (assuming that it is IR)?
OR what is the cheapest functional stable Roku-like, or Netflix streaming device with a full remote (4-way cursor, back, home, and maybe power button)?
Are Netgear streaming players a good alternative to Roku?
Mainly because Roku's 90 day phone-support, and the remainder of the 1 year support all via e-mail (unless you pay an extra $12 fee) really pissed me off, not to mention having to activate EVERY DEVICE for a Roku sucks.
Bumpity-dumpity for input...
Does anyone have any RJ45-wired AndroidTV devices?
Hey guys,
I recently made an app that is quite different from the other ones regularly posted on this forum, which are usually about changing your phone's behavior, so this is a nice change of pace from modifying your phone!
What is it?
Some of you might be familiar with the Delayed Auditory Feedback effect originally research by the Ig Nobel winner Kazutaka Kurihara. If not, check out this video:
To put it briefly, the effect occurs when you hear your own voice at a slight delay. Many people tend to start mumbling, and therefore "jamming" speech. SpeechJammer is an app I made intended to replicate this odd effect from your own phone, unfortunately due to limitations it can only work through headphones, because using it on the speakers would generate a lot of feedback noise.
It's simple to use, just put on headphone and start the app. Hopefully it should impede your speech while you talk. The app also includes a nice holo design inspired from the recent Google Play Store refresh.

Thanks! It's a shame we are still missing so many apps from iOS, really.
