Hi I'm looking for advice. My new oneplus 7 pro will arrive later today, I live in China so it will ship with HOS. I plan to update to Android 10 OOS but I have a reservation. If I update, when I factory reset will I have to input a Google account on startup? Obviously being in China the Google servers are blocked, so I'm worried the phone won't be able to connect and will get stuck on the Google login setup screen.
Thanks for your advice

There's a magisk module to skip startup, I believe. After that, you should be able to set up a vpn, if that'll work at all.

Thanks for that I will take a look, although it requires me to root before updating right?
Do I need to factory reset after installing the update? If not, I could just set up the phone as normal with HOS then update to OOS using the method that doesn't wipe the phone?
You can skip all these settings(connection, account login etc.) at the left(or right) corner of screen when startup, and finish them in system setting at any time.
Wipe everything in stock recovery affer switching system, this is the only thing you need to do.

anybody seeing uncertified device in google play after upgrade firmware B225 in mate 9 Chinese version? it was certified in B213
Interesting. I have the same for B225. What does this mean?
not sure, maybe because of the integration of GMS into the FW but so far all gapps work fine without any issues, v8.X supposed to come out yesterday or today so hope it will update without any issues.
May be its a reason that Android pay stop working on this firmware.
Anybody know how to fix this?

haven't tried it yet but you are correct, some gapps will only work on certified devices
This is a bug of Google or Huawei? Google support can't tell me anything about it.
I am think that firmware not official.
Perhaps you can contact Google support for help. Good luck to you.
anyone got this fixed? been thinking about doing a factory reset and reinstall gapps from scratch but not sure if will work or if its better to wait for a new fw update from huawei whenever that happens
This has been the case for me on the last several releases. I have not experienced any difficulties or even change whatsoever. I don't use Android Pay though.

i did in b213 but now I cant also photos and contacts dont sync automatically in the background unless I open the app other than that everything works as expected
I have the same thing installed on the MHA-L29C432B193 via FunkyH, I have had it several times before and over time, and no problems in the applications or their updates have caused it.
Same here on 193. It is because firmware is not certified by Huawei jet.

I had just rebranded from C567B190 to C432B193 (for the frequent security updates as it seemed like it was getting updates every month), and now Playstore says uncertified and Google Play is refusing to work, stating:
"Android Pay can't be used on this device
This may be because your device is rooted, has an unlocked bootloader or is running a custom ROM..."
I hope you're right about this, arminbih, I'd hate to lose the ability to run Android Pay because of what I did and I'd hate to have to do another factory reset.
My phone's bootloader is locked after the rebranding script finished flashing the official B193. Did the recommended steps, 2 script runs and factory reset, but I hope nothing was messed up during the process. I should've backed up the original partitions in TWRP before proceeding with flashing. Oh well.
Anyone else have a clue?

193 is unstable, force closes some apps, and camera does not work in RAW mode. I suggest going back to 190 or before, they are certified.

Thank you for your reply. Off-topic question, would you know if it's easy to go back to 190 without losing data?
(I certainly should look that up myself, I know, but I literally just got the phone yesterday so it's still much of uncharted territory for me)

Search "firmware finder" on play store and forums. You can upgrade downgrade as much as you like via official upade changing dns.

I too had B193 installed, and Android Pay wouldn't work. SafetyNet basic integrity passed but not CTS Profile, and probably because of B193 being uncertified. Went back to B190 now that it's certified and Pay works again and SafetyNet passes on both checks.
I have previously used updates the day they were released on hwmt.ru and they have worked fine with SafetyNet, even when it said uncertified. So this might be something new.
That's great to know. Thank you.
Were you able to downgrade without a wipe, and if so, what method did you use?
I've been messing with FF and the proxy method but no dice so far.
When I set up a new phone, usually I get a prompt to sign into google account and restore apps and data.
But in colour OS, I didn't get that.
However is there any way to manually get that ?
( I lost my previous phone (moto g4 plus) and I am hoping there is someway which will help me restore as much data as possible into this new phone (realme 5 pro) )
Settings>Other accounts>Google>Add>Sync now.
I can do this without issue. I'm from Hungary btw.

Hi.
I can add the google account, but when we set up a new phone that has an experience close to the google's android, we get prompted with an option to restore the data that was backed up on our old phone.
Here I am unable to do that.

Hm. Yes. I remember now. I don't think we can do that on this device. I'm sure though it almost does the same that I described. Although I'd not be looking for that new device setup prompt for in China Google services isn't available. I'd say we're lucky that play store is pre-installed for devices outside China. Sorry but I don't think I can help. I'm still trying to get used to Color OS.
have you try reset to factory setting? because in my case, the first time i boot the phone, there is the option to restore data backed up on google. I dont use that tho, so i can't tell if it work or not.
but there is an option to backup or restore right above reset to factory setting, so maybe that is what you are looking for..

No.
It only allows to back up from this phone
but doesn't restore the data from a different phone.
Topic says it all. I REALLY didn't want to upgrade. I think it downloaded on its own and I had system update on reboot checked.
Can I reflash the factory image for Android 10 without losing all of my data or am I screwed and stuck with 11?
Yeah I just got forcefully upgraded to Android 11.
I turn my phone off every night and when I turned it on this morning it took a lot longer than normal and then I had Android 11. Very annoying
I'm not happy about it and didn't know that Google actively pushes OTA updates as background downloads. I had the update services that I know of disabled and it stealth updated anyway.
I had to flash factory reset and wipe all data to get back. Now I'll be paranoid every time I have to reboot.
The new screenshot system is weird. I used to screenshot from the menu by holding down the power key but you can't do that anymore.
Android 11 is better than 10.
The new way it handles notifications.
Media controls.
The Google Pay, and home shortcuts on the power button.
Android 11 is one of the reasons I bought the Pixel 4a

Ugh. This isn't a debate thread. There are perfectly valid reasons to stay on A10. I will not engage in the debate though.

You could flash the A10 factory image through the Google flash tool if you don't mind also wiping data.

You can unlock your bootloader and flash-all the last a10 factory image.
I'm on superior os and it's android 11. Give it a try before you roll back.
This is in no way a deal breaker but man the Pixel 4a has issues with firmware updates.
I shutdown my phone every night and upon every boot up it checks for newer firmware but despite this, I didn't get a notification for the November security update. I had heard it was out but kept waiting and then I manually searched for firmware updates and it was there....
Get it together Google.

You can go under developer options and disable automatic system updates and it won't install updates.
If your phone is not the google store version with unlockable bootloader than you CAN NOT flash images and go back to previous versions. If you are able to unlock bootloader, than you can go back but you can't save your data. It will result in phone being stuck at animation screen if you do. You can however, use swift backup like I do, and backup your apps and data with rooted phone, and restore them later. Titanium Backup hasn't been updated in so long that I don't recommend that.
Got this second hand google pixel 2 from a seller yesterday while setting up and connected to internet .until I started receiving a notification saying "Device managed by admin - Automatically resetting soon." When I tap on it, it gives me an error saying "Device setup keeps stopping". I checked the phone's IMEI but it doesn't classify as lost/stolen. If I try to factory reset the phone, it asks me for a "@google.com" adress. My question is, should I be worried? Is there any way to fix this?
You basically got a phone from a student who sold it to make some money and this is the property of a school. You could try to flash the whole OS again, but the choice is up to you
i can reflash the OS but i guess , the imei is saved in the portal of the school/company , so when i connect to internet it will again show the same message.
Just try it, maybe it's just a software solution
Ok thanks
Will clear the current image and install factory image

I guess the shorter version is to just set it up offline and turn on usb debugging from the settings.
I don't think you even have how to proceed entering the work email by providing a simple gmail.
Anyhow,
This is what I've tried and done and it works great on Android 11 as long as there is no factory restet.
But this does not work on Android 12.
Do you have any solution for that?
Thank you!

normal Gmail account you can add quickly before the phone gives this error. Like within 1 minute after resetting the phone
I also got a pixel 3 XL phone with this issue as it accepted only google.com email and said it was managed by IT Admin, and I got this post and few others on this topic, followed the instructions given with my phone, I got a success on the last window. and my current android version is 12.
sannanthetraveller,I wanted to ask what should be followed now to setup the phone so to avoid this issue coming up again.
and any other suggestions while using the phone, whether to disable anything like auto update check or?
Please let know.
Hello all
My ROM: MIUI Global ROM 13.0.5 (SLAMIXM)
I have a strange issue with my 12S Ultra using Spotify or a Browser of any kind. When connected to WLAN Spotify has no connection to the Internet and I noticed that when I tap on a sponsored google-ads link (on the top) on any browser on the phone, I get a "Connection Failed" message, Spotify on the phone on web works fine, Browser link on the PC work fine too . This happens to two completely different Internet environments at different house's too. I posted my issue to the Spotify Forum https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/No-Connection-with-WLAN/m-p/5476052/highlight/true#M195356 but nothing helped. It seems like some kind Firewall on the phone is blocking the lines, but nothing is activated and I don't have an Antivirus either. Factory Reset didn't work, reinstalling the app didn't work, I even reset my router didn't work, but it's obviously a phone related problem I think. Do you know how to fix that or if I should install something to get it to work?

afaik the ROM is a custom one from the XIAOMIUI community, so that Google Play Store can be installed as it's restricted in china. So you think updating would help? Its only this two issues so far, I set a whole smart home configuration on Google Home, and it works fine over WLAN. The problem is, Google Backup doesn't work either, that would mean that I have to configure the whole stuff again, because the Xiaomi Backup doesn't backup app settings it seems

By flashing the latest version and erasing the data, your phone will be as it should be.
On Xiaomi Eu roms, the play store is certified without root.
I understand that reconfiguring everything can take time but normally you will have a working phone with updates.
