Has anyone got similar problem, that windows can't recognise P30 whet it's connected by any other cable than original from the set? I tried on 3 different cables such as original from P9, Original from Honor and cable from UGREEN. I didn't have such problem with my P9 ever.

No, but developer options keeps resetting my choice of USB connection, when I choose "MTP media transfer" it resets back to "Charge Only" after some time

Hi there !
I saw that something is wrong with my Honor 6. Even time I plug the telephone to USB in computer, the telephone only charge the battery.
I check it in a few computers.
Does it mean that my connector of mini USB in Honor is broken ? Is there any possibility to repair it ?
Enable USB Debugging in the Developer option
Hi,
I got my phone yesterday set it all up and it refuses to connect to PC. When I connect to PC it charges the phone but cannot transfer files. I don't get the popup asking me to charge MTP Mode etc.
I don't even get the option for usb debugging enabled. I've tried 4 different cables all still the same. It won't even let me select MTP, PTP etc in developer options. It just goes back to charging.
is there something I can try before I do a factory reset.
In using windows 10. I've also tried different USB ports but same result.
Thanks

Try installing this driver:
https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-xz-premium-driver/
If it does not work try Sony Mobile Companion:

Did you unlock (I mean entered the pincode/password/etc) the phone before connecting it? Sony phones refuse to connect when locked.
Also, does the companion ask you to put your phone in MTP mode? Normally it should display a notification with an option to use MTP (File Transfer) if you click on it.
On my side everything works as it should.
As already said, did you unlock your phone while connecting?

Yes I did that. Also just did a factory reset. That hasn't helped either.
can you connect other devices to that usb port?
it could be, that your port doesn't work right.

My Z5 Premium connects and works fine. I have 10 usb ports on my pc and I have tried them all.
Does your PC have a USB 3.0 port? Maybe that's a problem, because the phone has USB 3.1 and all the previous Sony phones had USB 2.0. But USB should be backwards compatible, so this might not be the problem.

My PC has 4 USB 3.0 ports and 6 USB 2.0 ports. I also can't boot into flashboot mode.

So the phone acts like you just connected it to regular charger, not a PC.
If so, I can suggest you to connect it to a different PC or to your Z5 Premium via OTG cable to see if the PC is a problem.
When I connect Z5P to my Z3 like that it shows a notification with MTP mode selection. (Z3 doesn't see Z5P in any way, just charges it, but it is recognized not as a regular charger by Z5P, but as a PC.)

Yeah the phone acts like a connected it to a regular charger. I will try troubleshoot again tomorrow as I have to go to work now.
Thanks for your help.
Ive fixed the problem. Looks like the charging port was dirty. I stuck a toothpick in to clean it and it seems to have worked. My device now fully charges in under 2 hours.
It also connects to the computer everytime properly.
Thanks for your help everyone.
i have the same trouble as you... xperia xz, connect to 3pc, with 3usb cables, on 2.0 or 3.0 USB ... it take only the charge, cant transfer any files...
The title was supposed to say C-C
As in the title really; When I plug the phone into my laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad L450) with a C-C cable, the following happens.
Some key points in trying to diagnose the issue:
Used three different C-C cables including the one that comes in the box
Tried a USB 3.0 A-C cable on the same laptop, works perfectly
Plugged a HTC 10 into the same port with the same cables, allows fast charging and 3.1 transfer rates
I have been into 'Developer Settings' and changed 'Select USB Configuration' to 'Charging',
Can anyone help, or is anyone experiencing a similar issue? I really don't want to have to RMA this.
for charging i cant really help but for data transfer try enabling usb debugging and getting the right drivers for the pixel 2. also connect as MTP for data transfer.
havent tried any of this myself as i dont need to transfer my files yet and theres no roms either but let me know if it works.
good luck!
I have kind of the same issue - while mine charges, it doesn't recognize the phone for MTP at all. Tried both the cable that came with the device, and the 5x cable I've been using since February. My husband's 5x is recognized, my Pixel 2 isn't. Have to use a USB-C to USB-A cable to do any data transfers.
This ticks me off, because I have 2 USB-C ports on my laptop. One that's a USB-C/Thunderbolt port (which always worked with the 5x), and the other that's just USC-C with USB 3.0 capability, which has my USB hub plugged into it. The hub won't work with the C/TB port, and now neither will the Pixel 2. So I either have to grab my C to A cable to load music and use ADB, or plug into the hub's port, losing my external keyboard, mouse, external HDD, printer, and Wacom tablet.
vido.ardes, is your C port Thunderbolt as well?

I posted my problem on the Google Product forums, and got this answer. It worked for me.

Hi all,
I just faced this issue. Connected my Pixel to my PC, no indication of connection either on PC or on Phone, except that the phone was charging. Even the file explorer on Windows 10 wasn't displaying Pixel as a connected device.
I found a solution, I hope it works for you all,
Go to Settings->Apps & notifications->App info->Tap 3 dots in top right corner->Tap 'Show system'.
Then find 'External storage' and 'Media storage' apps in the list and clear cache and data for both these apps. Restart your phone and wait 5-10 minutes before connecting the phone to your PC.
After connecting, the phone should now show 'USB connected for charging', as it did in Nougat. You can tap that notification and select file transfer."

These are the exact steps I did on the Pixel 2:
Settings>Apps & notifications>See all 125 apps>3 dot menu>Show System>Media Storage>Storage>Clear Data (this got the cache, as well)>Back>Back>External Storage>Storage>Clear Data.
Then I plugged it into the C/TB port, and the computer made the "USB Connected" noise, and "USB Debugging" came up in my phone's notifications (yes, I've enabled developer options and USB debugging there.) I'm then able to go into Settings>Connected Devices>USB and choose Transfer Files.
I just cleared the cache, not data for both and it worked.

Now that you can connect to your PC, is there any way I could get you or some other kind soul, to pull the system/framework folder and system/priv-app/SystemUIGoogle folder for me? The system.img files cannot be unpacked at this time. Every method tried gives "List index out of bounds" error.

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately no change for me. I fear I may have to RMA this, which I really don't want to have to do.
I have found on my other devices, that if I reboot to recovery mode, my computer can then read the file folders in my device.
This appears to be an issue with the laptop, not the phone, as it works on another PC with a USB-C port
When i connect my 1+8T using 1+cable in the box to pc, the pc cant detect it . However, when i connect it using 3rd party cable, the pc can detect it, what's wrong with the cable ? Or the 1+ cable doesnt support usb trasnfer by default ?
I tried connect another phone using 1+ cable , it works. Is there anything wrong with the setting in the phone ? How to solve this ?
Anyone can help ?
In short, oneplus cable + oneplus phone doesnt work, oneplus phone + 3rd party cable can work, other phone and oneplus cable can work. How to resolve this ?
Could be that the OnePlus cable is paired with the 8T for use with the fast charger only. The fact that the OnePlus cable works for transfers with other phones might be because it recognizes that it is not connected to the 8T. So I guess you should just use whatever other cable you have when transferring files from the 8T to the PC. Silly question but: Are you going into developers options and adjusting the USB configuration for file transfers on the 8T?

Hi, i have big problems connecting my P50 PRO to windows computers. Windows 10 and 11 only opens HiSuite but device itself is not recognized, showed only as MPT device (with yelow triangle).
I tried several drivers not to mention windows update but no luck. Only with installed HiSuite it works.
Why P40 and P40 PRO+ works perfectly in MTP mode, but P50 PRO doesnt?
It is global version with HDB Enabled and EMUI 12.0.1 (Snapdragon)
Have you tried it with another Data cable because it's most of the time a faulty data cable, or go to Developer settings, go to Networking and under "Tethering Hardware Acceleration" you'll see "Select USB Configuration" you can change the device options in there.
Yes, i have tried multiple data cables. It doesnt work...
maybe something in the phone that i am missing?
Hi, still the same after factory reset phone, different computer
Is it normal for P50 Pro to needs "special care" with connecting to PC?
