My wife is having a crisis here with her new note 5, the long story short is that she was away at Disney world (we live in Michigan, not sure if the geography had an impact) and she had her phone locked with the retarded finger print scanner. She tried to unlock it while her finger was wet and not only did it not unlock but it also continued to register tries and locked her phone and requested google account password. She apparently had two google accounts synced to the phone and she had no idea which was primary, add to that that she has a terrible memory, well, she waited until she had one try left to call and ask me if I could get it for her from her planner in the house. For whatever reason this password didn't work either (even though I could log into her gmail with it) and the phone did a forced factory reset. Ok, no big deal, right?
Phone reboots, starts the setup wizard, goes to what looks like a google screen which says this phone experienced an abnormal factory reset and you must sign in with a gmail account which was previously synced (it defenitely say "a gmail account" not "the gmail" or Primary gmail). So she signs in with the gmail that we know we had the right password for. The phone reboots and comes back to the same screen. Her gmail gets a message that SM-n920V signed in with this account and I went into the android devices and verified that "it was me". By this time I was at work and the only thing I could think was that it must need the proimary and that must be the other one, so in order to get her other gmail account working and I had to reset it's password (one gmail was backup to the other), ok, so I get both gmail accounts working. She tries to log in with that one and the it behaves exactly the same.
I was at work by this time and I start trying to research this and I find it's probably tied to samsungs FRP. I try to log into the samsung account and neither gmail is tied to it. I finally find it and it is tied to a yahoo account that she also has no idea what the password is. I manage to reset the yahoo account, and then the damned samsung account and now I can look at everything.
The only mention I can find about FRP on the samsung site is in a FAQ that I find and I find a little tidbit in there that says that if you change your google password you have to wait 72 hours to log back in with it. I have no idea how the samsung account would know the google password reset, but also, there are no prompts on the phone that mention this. it just asks for the account again and again.
So, my wife calls Verizon, they are clueless but they transfer her to samsung. Samsung support was apparently horrible with her, but regardless, they tell her it's googles fault and transfer her to google, google says it's a samsung bug and sends her back to samsung. Samsung finally tells her what I found about the FRP in the begining, that there is a 72hr cooldown, but FURTHERMORE, they tell her that she can't try the account until 72hrs are up, that just by trying to log in means she has to RESET PASSWORDS AGAIN and then just sit with her thumb up her butt for "up to 72 hrs" they tell her this time. They also said she would get an email when she can log in, but we still have no idea to which account...
So, all parties involved are fully satisfied that this is indeed her device but they claim there is no way to expedite this. I also know that this is 99% her fault, but come on, this is ridiculous. I also am not convinced that after 72 hours, which is really up to 96 now because it took until the second night after all of this to get an answer from tech support. Meanwhile my family is clear across the country and now with minimal communication capability. They got home safely today, and tonight would have been the initial end of 72 hours, but apparently she will be waiting for tomorrow night because they made her reset again. When she got home I tried to completely reflash the phone with odin, and it was 100% successful, but as soon as it boots it goes to software update does a really quick update (which I suspect is the FRP thing leeching onto the setup wizard) and then it boots, goes through until account sign in and then says the phone was reset... blah... blah... blah... I didn't try to log in, I don't want to make this drag out any longer, but WTF!!!!
There used to be a loophole to get out of the wizard, it's patched. Is there any way around this? I mean, tomorrow is not that much further away, I'm not trying anything risky this close to the end of the cooldown, but I highly doubt that it is going to make any difference tomorrow. It feels like a bug, I would expect that it would give some kind of warning, flag, or message that this was going to take 72 hours and there is nothing, its like a sign in bootloop... Added to that google themselves says its a sammy firmware bug, well I'm not hopeful.
Anyone else experience this? Any resolution? I will report back tomorrow one way or another, but I suspect we will be getting a new device from Verizon.
Thanks,
Jason
We had two customers who reset their password and it made them wait 72 hours before that password could be used again for the verification. Now those phones both worked after the 72 hours but they only had one Gmail on there. Only thing I can think of is to absolutely make sure both accounts have the password. And try each on the phone after the 72 is up for both of them. Google locks the phone believed to be the IMEI of the phone after a reset on 5.1.1. Something new we ended up running into

Thanks for the reply! It is good to know that it is possibly going to work. I'm surprised that it is baked into lollipop-- Google claimed that it was all Samsung's fault. I checked my Tab S which is running some spin of CM on lollipop and there is no FRP options in the settings like there are in my note 4 on official firmware. I did run across a few other references to it being a lollipop thing, but all I can say is what google tech support told us.
I have to say that it really surprises me that with the fact that all three of the corporations with some sort of power with the device having been satisfied that she is the actual owner, can't just remotely restore access.
I'll update when we find out more... I'm trying to figure out which account might be primary by looking back in her google device history, oddly enough they both show this device as a "new device" trying to sign into her accounts on the day that all this went south. I wonder if there is more going on here-- I have completely wiped and flashed different roms and still had google recognize the device as my previous one.
Thanks,
Jason

Well, she got it unlocked. Apologies to you Jacob, but the Verizon tech who made her reset passwords a second time was an idiot. She was in a chat with a Samsung tech today and told him she still didn't have an email and 72 hours was almost up and she didn't want to try to login and end up reseting her lock out again. He told her no email was coming and that the only way she would know if it was unlocked was if she tried... Smh... It may have been unlocked for days now. Lol. It did her some good to go through withdrawal.
Fwiw I blocked updates and am still on Kk with my note 4, the frp thing is in my security menu. I have it turned off on hers now too, but the option was buried in developers settings and is listed as "OEM unlock". Maybe this post will help others before they get in her position. Thanks for the info!

Jason

Had the same problem only I gave up, and pulled out my old phone for the holidays, but just last night I tried it aging putting in my gmail account and it worked. But I had none idea their was a cool down wait time, this is stupid you would think they would give you a warning.. good luck to you all I can say is that it did work after the cool down.
I do not own the phone but my friend ad work is in the same situation I have been helping her the only thing is it has been more then 72hrs and it is still not letting her in she has been trying to log in the whole time not sure if that will re set the wait time also the phone was forced factory reset after the failed password scenario any help would be great she just got it 2 weeks ago
Hi. Just a tidbit of information here. This isn't really "Google" locking out the phone. It is in fact a bug on Samsung's newer phone models. If you do some searching you will see that mostly people with samsung phones get locked out. It appears that there is some spotty coding in Samsung's customization of the Android OS which interferes with the FRP. I played around with it on my Nexus 5 and don't get this problem, only on my extra phone which is a core prime
lockout
my phone is on a lockout which really sucks! my question here is by trying to log in multiple times because no one told me this was going to happen either at the store where I bought the phone or when the idiots reset it without telling me this, will it reset the timer again? my lock out started on Wednesday afternoon and I kept trying to log in and even changed my password but nothing until yesterday that I was told about the lock out did I stop. I really hope it does not reset because that is the only means of communication I have.

The 72 hours is a Google thing. If you reset your Gmail password it is not valid for use on the locked phone until 72 hours after reset. That being said their is a work around and I believe it might still work. I have method to try and an app I made to get it bypassed. Just let me know if you need the steps with an otg cable and a USB flashdrive

Okay, so I have a Samsung Galaxy J1 (SM-J100VPP Model) and it's been sitting in a drawer. When I used it as a main phone, a friend of my little brother came over and stole it and my headphones. I got them back, with the added effect of it being hard reset and the SIM thrown away. When I tried to set it back up it asked for a samsung account, which I did not have. I never entered a Samsung account, although I have one. I tried that one and even tried deleting and remaking it. Nothing seems to work. At this point I'd like to try a linux mobile phone or just have it as a storage device with a screen. I have looked and looked and looked some more but nothing is working. I'm hoping you guys can help me. I'll never use it as a main phone again, so some functions being removed doesn't bother me at all. I just want WiFi and for it to work.

Greetings and welcome to assist. First of all try using kies/smartswitch emergency firmware recovery, this will return your phone to its original state. If you then come across FRP there are several guides on how to bypass it on xda

That should work

Hey guys, So I purchased a S7 on ebay after clearing the IMEI through Verizon's Fraud Department. I then made sure the Imei matched the Original Phone Box, Receipt and back glass. All was well so I was happy with the purchase. It had a broken front screen and I went through the repair and fixed it!
Was really happy to save money by repairing an S7.
Only issue is what I have no learned to be FRP. She reset the phone before sending it to me which is completely understandable.
I've emailed her in ebay about it and she said she would get back to me with the gmail account but hasn't responded regarding giving me the password.
I fully understand and don't expect her to give me their password. That's a bit ridiculous of me to expect that. All I want is the clean clear phone I bought from her and be able to use it.
So A few things, Im not just here for this. I also want to get into rooting which is why I registered, I hope to be of help in the future as I learn more and more about getting those
terrible factory apps and stuff that comes from verizon.
1. Which is the best method about doing an FRP Bypass. I see people on ebay that will do it for like 20 bucks remotely over team view. Others send a usb drive.
2. I absolutely can provide proof of purchase through screen shots on ebay, as well as the item number to show you who bought it. (Same Username of course)
I totally understand frp is to prevent theft, which is great. It just sucks that the owner didn't know she was selling me her locked phone. Shes the original owner. She didn't have insurance so when she broke the screen she had to buy a new one and thats why she sold this one on ebay. She's been super helpful and nice
as we exchange emails on ebay. But short of driving 5 hrs each way to meet in person frp bypass is my only option. I gave her the option of me driving there, I would spend the time/gas to meet at her local verizon store so i dont have to do this mess.
I did attemp a frp bypass on albviral but I must have done it wrong, and it seemed a bit complicated. Again, I can provide proof that I did not steal this phone. Whatever I need to do to
not lose even more money from the purchase and repair.
If any help, I'd be super appreciated.
thanks
Well they changed their password because she couldn't remember it so I can only assume theres a 24hr lock out period or something. It wont log in. And even using a recovery email and her sending me the verify code it wont let us into the phone.
Update:
Lady changed their google password and it still wont log in. I tried clicking forgot and it sent a code to the recovery email which she logged in, got and sent me.
After I tried that it just kept kicking me back to the start of frp by saying "Log in using an account that was synced to this device" and taking me to a screen to put in the gmail.
When I try random passwords it says wrong password. But when I try the one she made today it just kicks back. 24hr period? I really hope that's all it is.
I even put in their names to confirm account and it kicks me back saying that isnt correct. She said he can't remember anything and has to get new passwords all the time much less knowing what was used when they orginally go the phone. So I guess i'll try in 24hrs and if not then I'll try someone on ebay? idk.
Flash an older firmware with ODIN that has an FRP bypass tutorial on YT
It's been done. Now I get a security notice that unauthorized changes have been detected, restart phone to undo.
Obviously im not going to do that but will it ever go away.
I'll shortly install sim card and activate phone. I appreciate the help.
Now for me to research rooting!
Wow this is terrible. The prev. owner called verizon tech support and had the phone cleared off her account but it still won't let us activate it. They said wait 24hrs and see if that takes care of
it and if not then the phone is useless. Doesnt even make sense that the original owner contacted them, cleared her and the phone and still may not be usable.
Alrighty, all is fixed and new sim card and im activated and everything. It wants to update to 7.0 but im hesitant to do it.
Updated to 7.0 nagout. All is well. There's an additional
System update that includes some security measures.
Since updating to 7.0 went smoothly I guess I'll go ahead with the additional system update.
Glad you got it working!
Thanks! This newest security system update has me a little worried but I guess I'd the 7.0 update went fine I shouldn't be worried about it. Having done the rep bypass just has me on edge even tho the original owner is great and told tech support it was hers to clear it and let me have it and all.
I still want to look into rooting, there's just a bunch of junk on here. Even games! I don't use it for games.
Hey everyone, so I recently purchased an a10e second hand, thought i did my due diligence, checked the black list for the imei, registered on samsungs site , when i finally got to play with it a day or so later when i was going through the setup it asked me for the original owners information. had attempted to contact the owner but dude is litterally a ghost, I have attempted everything i can possibly find here and on the forums about frp unlock tried several apk tools which get **** blocked by debuggong not neing on, tried hrs worth of adb commands to no aveil, and redonculous amount hrs trying bad combo files and firmware files that fail. ive been at this daily for a month now. I realize i can eat my pride and pay to get it dealt with, but ive been at it for so long at this point. I NEED TO SEE IT THROUGH. PLEASE HELP THANKS
