i just bought a used XT1955-5 in excellent condition but it has been freezing and rebooting. 0 apps installed, tried different sim card, factory reset, upgraded to latest android version available but no luck on fixing the problem. i guess it just needs to be returned. i googled a bit and have seen some people with this problem. just wondered if this is common for this phone. anyone else has had this happen before? maybe i should just get a brand new one. is Motorola good about their warranty?
Probably water or fall damage, I'd return it if flashing full stock firmware doesn't fix it.

Hi All
I updated to the new Mango last Friday. All was well initially but after a few hours I noticed the screen colours were all wrong with distortion and random pixelation.
I have tried several reboots and removing the battery. Sometimes from wakeup it appears ok until I open the keyboard out.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Did you find a work around?
The speed and functionality of the new update is fantastic. I would prefer a fix than a rollback but in its current state it just looks horrible.
Regards,
Steve.
hmmmm.... only what i can suggest is hard reset.... if not helps take phone to service, maybe is hardware malfunction....
no problems so far 24 hours after mango upgrade
Hey, I'm sorry you are having this problem, it must be annoying and troublesome. I have been using my Arrive full-blast since I upgraded it to Mango yesterday (forced it) and have not experienced any problems, and certainly nothing like you describe has every happened on my device.
However, having worked on countless laptops, notebooks, netbooks, etc. that exhibit your symptoms, it would seem to me to be a hardware problem with near certainty- possibly a cable or connector has worked itself loose. Good luck, and let us know what happens!
Factory reset unsuccessful
Hi
Thanks for your replies...
I am afraid it is looking very much like a hardware issue. I tried a factory reset. I tried a restore. I tried reapplying the update - all to no avail.
Thinking back on it, though, I first noticed it when opening the keyboard after updating to Mango. I assumed that it was to do with the update but it was most likely coincidence. The issue has gradually got worse no matter what I do. Frustrating after hanging out for Mango for so long!
Regards
Steve.
The Moto G is prone to all sorts of little problems, most of which gradually grow into system instability and performance issues. Generally these are fixed with a simple factory reset, but for some reason that sometimes fails to help. I was having a lot of trouble with my phone, overheating, aforementioned performance and stability, etc... and a factory reset seemed to help, but as time went on and I used my phone, they would return.
My last problem, about 4 or 5 days ago was that my phone just constantly kept resetting itself, in addition to the UI crashes I was having before that. After desperately trying to factory reset and clear the cache and all sorts of stuff, I got nowhere. It would hang up at the factory reset process and just keep going forever. I eventually decided to use the reformat option in TWRP and now everything is great. Time will tell if it holds, but it seems solid.
The major concern I have right now is the root cause. I think that many Moto Gs were shipped with bad memory, which I will test when I look for/find an app for it, which as anyone experienced with computer repair would know can lead to all of these issues and even data corruption, which I think is what might be causing these weird issues. So if anyone has anything to add or correct me on, please be my guest. But for all of you out there struggling with these bugs, give it a try and see if it helps.
Hi All,
I am wondering if you can help me troubleshoot my Samsung Galaxy S7. I am open to any suggestion, even installing non-stock firmware or any other ideas you may have.
I bought the phone (on contract) around 5 months ago, For nearly 3 months now the phone has been freezing 5 - 6 times a day, restarting 2 or 3 times a day. It works for a little while, maybe a week after a factory reset. So my brain is telling me its a software issue as a hardware issue would surely be there from the first minute it reinstalls?
There is nothing obvious as to when it freezes, mostly when loading an app, So I imagine some corrupt kernel call. I would have thought a factory reset would have fixed this though but I guess its just reinstalling the same software and if this is corrupt.
Anyway, my provider in the UK or Samsung are not providing me with any suitable options other than we will "repair" it but will not RMA it and you will be without a phone for 2 months or so. well, this is just not good enough to me as when you pay £600 for a device (which even though I havnt paid as of yet, I am contracted to pay) You dont expect it to break after 2 months. Legally all they have to do is offer a "repair". I just know this is going to be more pain than its worth.
If anyone can help me at all with any possible solution, third party firmware to try and what steps I would need. I would appreciate any help.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S7 32GB
Model: SM-G930F
Android: 6.0.1
Kernel: 3.18.14-9113173
I don't know buddy, I would wipe the phone clean, install the newest nougat beta and maybe install only a bunch of apps a day and see when you start having problems, maybe one of them is the cause. But that honestly sounds like a hardware issue. I hope this somewhat helps. Good luck
Same problem here. Its a faulty battery and/or power circuity. There is no software fix for that. Thats why it hangs or reboots while opening apps - that needs more amps to be drawn from the battery. Like loading thumbnails in gallery and so on.

Thanks for both replies.
I have tried to reset, still happening, cant install nougat as it freezes as soon as odin recognises it.
I guess I have no choice but to send it to them, I just know I will have problems now for months.
Hey friends. I posted here a few weeks back saying I was having issues with my Pixel freezing and restarting itself. I've already factory reset and reflashed. No dice. My warranty is out by a month so I can't get it replaced.
I have a friend who said he could replace the battery for $35 USD. It's a great price but I don't know that it's 100% the battery. I was hoping you all could maybe chime in and let me know what you guys think. It's very intermittent. It can happen when I'm watching a YouTube video or during a phone call. I've seen a lot of other people having this issue and I think it's crazy Google won't back there problem when it's a known issue. Any advice is appreciated.
Also, an unrelated question. I never seem to get the current security patches until the end of the month. I still don't have Feb. patch and my wife and a friend of mine have had it for a while.
Thanks!
Edit: More information
If the battery is charging and discharging properly, I don't know that I would attribute the freezing/restarting to the battery at all. The Pixel microphone defect could be one possible cause. It's a small crack in a solder joint that can intermittently cause the phone to freeze or reboot when it attempts to use audio. Just do a search for the issue and you should see some articles about the issue.

This has happened to me on a few sparse occasions, I've not found any particular trigger, but can confirm it is not the battery. I also highly recommend against doing a third party battery replacement on any phone that lacks a removable back honestly. I would recommend fully reflashing using the flash all file with the -w intact (back everything up obviously) a couple times. As far as the security patches they are released on the 5th of every month I believe. Manually checking for system updates may resolve your problem as the ota signal might just not be pushing to your device properly. If this doesn't work then you can always grab the factory image on the day of release and manually flash it (without the -w obviously).
Hi. I got my ROG Phone 5 in April 2021, but since the last month or so, the device keeps rebooting randomly for no apparent reason. This happens at least twice every week under different conditions (in use, idle, charging...).
I recently updated my firmware to WW-31.0810.1226.128, but the issue persists. It's worth mentioning that the issue also happened on older firmware.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? Did anyone experience something similar with the ROG Phone 5?
P.S. What's with System Update never finding any updates? I always have to download updates manually from ASUS.com in order to install them.
send to repair it, my phone also got that problem before. ask them to reball cpu, ram and ufs. dont believe if they ask to change to new motherboard.
