Not via manufacture unlock code but rather software unlock. My Note 8 is still being paid off so AT&T won't give me the unlock code and I'm headed to Germany next week. I'd rather not go the eBay route.
Don't know about the software unlock on this phone, but I got my unlock code from a vendor that I used multiple times for $25. Unlocked mine a couple of days ago.

What vendor did you use for the unlock
Yeah, what vendor did you use? Message me please to share. Thanks
I don't know if it is against the rules to post vendors here. If it is, I apologize ahead of time.

I ended up using a guy off eBay, he seemed reputable and had his WhatsApp contact info in the eBay ad so that made it easier to reach out to him. Cost me $13.99 and my AT&T Note 8 is fully SIM unlocked.. problem is I tried to activate it on Sprint and since it apparently still has a balance on it they couldn't add it to inventory.. quite the pain in the ass.
Does AT&T unlock the phone for free after 14 days of ownership?
I had bought my s8 from Best Buy and completed the unlock form on the at&t site 15 days after purchase and got the unlock code within 2 days.
11 days to go for my Note 8, i will let you know
As far as I know, you have to pay off the phone first before they will unlock it. I unlocked my previous AT&T phone that way.

If it's an AT&T phone you can go on the att site and do the unlock after 14 days of ownership. At least if you paid the phone in full

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get my Note8 on September 12th. I put in my unlock request at around 10am today and got my unlock code at 1pm. So they were at least super quick doing it.
Here's a bit of a tip:
If you don't have another carrier sim to put in after you get your unlock code you can just dial this #7465625*638*# and it will ask you for the Network Code. Type in the digits AT&T gave you and it'll say unlocked once successfully entered.

If you have a SIM card from another provider put in your phone and it will ask you for the unlock code.
If not, look at the thread just above, someone was explaining that you can do it by typing a combination of numbers on you phone dialer

Thanks for that info. I haven't had my note 8 for the 14 days but it is paid in full. ATT provided the code within the hour.
I have a T-Mobile OnePlus 7 pro, is there a third-party unlock service that can unlock it, I haven't had 40+ days active service.
Hi,
I used cellunlocker dot net and they got it unlocked in 7 days. It's about 45 bucks I guess

Thank you
I didn't see this clearly posted anywhere, so I figured I would share.
In the past with OnePlus devices on T-Mobile you were able to call and request OEM unlock even if the phone wasn't paid off. Typically, as long as you were a long time customer they would provide the unlock if the phone wasn't paid off yet. Which got me to thinking, I should try the same thing for my new Pixel 4 XL.
After a few minutes with T-Mobile support chat I was able to get T-Mobile customer support to allow me to unlock my Pixel 4. It took about 24 hours and a restart for the OEM unlock in developer settings to appear. But after that I was able to unlock the bootloader via fastboot with no problem.
Tmobile's policy is that the phone must be paid in full and wait 40 days to unlock. Now you can get lucky with customer service or tmobile on Twitter (this is actually the best way) and get it unlocked sooner but it's just getting lucky. Not everyone will get it unlocked sooner.

At least it worked for you. There's another thread already started with this same conversation only the phones still can't be unlocked after getting an unlock from t mobile
Worked for me, I received the phone early called them and was unlocked in 10 mins. I'm about to return phone though and roll with iphone 11 pro max and note 10 plus. Pixel isn't cutting it.
Really don't need to be unlocked anymore

Sorry bro, he closed that thread a while back. It was legit, he unlocked both of mine. Keep a look out to see if he will do it again. Otherwise you may have to call TMO and persuade them to help or tweet the help desk. Happy modding!
So maybe I can give some help with information. T-Mobile will not allow you to seamlessly network unlock without a full payoff. You can typically contact T-Mobile's Twitter and get them to unlock it if you have a specific reason. According to someone I know directly in their support, they will typically unlock with minimal hassle if you have at least three device payments. However, you can typically get an unlock earlier if you give them a valid reason. A lot of people reported network issues with an OTA. Referencing this, and informing them that a bootloader unlock is necessary for repair, they unlocked mine with literally a single payment on file. It took a bit of persistence (and even referencing the XDA thread), but they did unlock it for me. Give it a shot. Worst they can say is no.

i'll have to give it a try. this is my first tmobile OP variant and i'm already upset that i didnt buy unlocked directly, i just didnt have the full amount up front and really needed a new phone. went with the 8.
Look in the 8+ forums. I just got my 8+ unlocked a few days back. I messaged the person and she got back within about two days. After that I sent her my info and I was unlocked in a couple hours.

Which thread is it in I'm having trouble finding it.
I just called T-Mobile and they approved the unlock for my OP8 (purchased in August 2020). My reasoning was T-Mobile is paying half of the phone (50% off deal) and told them I will be paying my half early (around $230 left). So they said yes to unlock my phone. Give it a try.
What if you buy a T-Mobile locked 8 on ebay? I thought you could still unlock bootloader with msm, am I screwed?

Yeah but I bought the phone off of eBay so I don't think they will unlock. I am thinking of paying for an unlock service that costs around $80-$100 (I don't know of any legitimate ones) or returning the phone and buying the n10 5g. The only thing preventing me from getting the n10 5g is the lcd screen, that is a major issue for me.

though you bought it, are you a tmobile customer? I think if the phone is already paid off, and you use the phone on their network for at least 40 days straight, then you should qualify for an unlock.

I got my TMo OP8 off Swappa and just requested the unlock code from the OnePlus website the day it arrived. It took 7 days literally to the minute to get my unlock code, which I hear is the norm.
But also note that we're all talking about 2 different things: a bootloader unlock (which is what I did) and a carrier unlock (which is what OP was after, I believe).

when i checked the oneplus website for bootloader unlock it required an unlock code from tmobile. can you link me to the page where i can request the bootloader unlock?
edit: I am an idiot, disregard that.
Can you help me with getting the unlock token? what exact commands did you use to get unlock code? I followed the oneplus guide but get the response-
"C:\platform-tools>fastboot.exe oem get_unlock_code
FAILED (remote: 'Please enable OEM unlocking in Settings first')
fastboot: error: Command failed"
my understanding is that you need to sim unlock before you can oem unlock.

this is what i had the ebay seller i got my phone from do, and apparently they are going to unlock tonight; the rep said the phone needs to be used for at least 48hrs on tmo network, but preferably 40 days before unlocking. It seems they have an official policy on carrier unlocking and then another policy which is only used on twitter; all very confusing. my concern now is that custom roms will not work correctly on tmo op8t, as verizon owner have reported crdroid not working for them.
Ok mobdeep is back in the game of unlocking TMO phones. Head to his thread and read the info. Happy modding!

If you guys are wanting to root your Tmobile/Sprint phone here is the guide, i unlocked my phone, unlocked my bootloader & rooted it. To get token it took exactly a week. Here are the guides: Android 11 how to root T-MOBILE OP8 5G
TIP: Go into Settings>Wifi&Network>SIM&Network:> Network Unlock. This should get your phone unlocked which is the first step. Then head over to unlock token - OnePlus (United States) and apply to get your token, which took me 1 week exactly. Here is also a tool incase you brick your phone: Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS
My sister purchased one from OfferUp. Turned out to have a device (SIM) lock by MetroPCS. Since we use TMO, she assumed that the phone would work. No bueno. I've already rooted with magisk and flashed stock firmware (MILANF_G_S1SDS32.56_22_1_5_2_subsidy_TMO_UNI_RSU_QCOM_regulatory_DEFAULT_cid50_CFC.xml) with no luck. Perhaps an international firmware (if that's available) or some assistance in unlocking the SIM would be most helpful.
Thanks
Only practical way is to wait about 6 months (maybe less if the previous owner activated it several months ago) for metropcs to officially unlock it.

So does it unlock automatically even if it was activated for a month only, then wait for 5 months or more?
I called metro today, and they said it wouldn't be eligble for unlocking until 1/23/23.
So I guess it's a paperweight for 2mos.

6 month after activation, you need to manually click on the "permenate unlock" button in the built-in unlock app. You only need to have one month service.

Of course not.
You only need to have one month service to unlock 180 days after activation, no need to have 6 months active service.
Sure, you can have 6 months active service to unlock the phone, but that is not a requirement.
Official unlock policy is 180 days after activation, no matter how long you have active service with metro.

Hello @googlephoneFKLenAsh
I'm having trouble unlocking my MetroPCS Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 (XT2215-4).
I've had it for about 45 days now. When I tried to unlock it, it says Status: Locked > Your device is locked and can only be used with Metro SIM and network at this time. Device must be used on this phone number for 180 days.
At your earliest convenience, could you please shed some light on how to unlock this phone? Thanks

You can't. He already said 180 days since the activation. You don't need MetroPCS service after the activation, however. You've had it for 45 days. You need to wait additional 135 days until you can unlock it. The MetroPCS phone deals usually requires the first month of service, then cancelling the service and wait addtional 5 months until the unlock becomes available.

Hello! Okay, I read it wrong. I'll have to wait for another 5 months or so before the 'device unlock' becomes available.
Unless anyone could shed some light on unlocking my phone sooner than that somehow with a work around? Thx
