The A20 surprised me when it can to specs, features, and it's proformance for the price. Compare this to the standard Note 10 and it has a few things it don't. Stack it against the 10+ and it holds it own. Maybe not on paper but in real world feel and use it doesn't disappoint.
MOD Edit:- Links Removed
Galaxy A30 is also a great choice. Cost slightly more with some spec bumps to go with it.

Sorry, not sure where this thread should go.
I am looking at getting a tablet. My choices are down to Asus Infinity tf701t (The new one) or Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. I am not a fan of TouchWhiz. I am looking at support right now because I will be rooting and more then likely installing a different ROM onto the tablet. That is the reason I am looking at support. Which one will more then likely have the most options for future ROMs. I am also looking at overall quality of the tablet.
I figure that if I go with the Note I can buy a bluetooth keyboard. I can deal without a pen on the Infinity.
Thanks,

Too bad you didn't get a reply to your question in about a month. I currently have exactly the same question. I like the style of the Asus, the materials used, the "on screen buttons", but the Note is quite a bit smaller, a tad faster, more memory, a better screen and better wireless capabilities (801.11ac + BT 4.0).
I suspect the TF701T will have better support from XDA, since its Tegra SOC is better supported. Samsung's Exynos SOC is closed source as far as I know. I remember the Exynos 4 was poorly supported... So I'm torn between two choices: either the Samsung with more memory and a better screen or the Asus that might start out slower, might run out of memory in a few years, but will most likely get better support. I don't like to base a decision on "most likely" assumptions

General consensus is that the TF701T has a better screen than the Samsung Note 2014. Having seen them side by side I agree.
I will be building a rom for the TF701T over the Xmas / New Year period as I have 2 weeks off and nothing to do :good:
Unsurprisingly, Samsung has much bigger market share than ASUS (or any other OEM for that matter), and with Samsung’s marketing prowess, the Note 10.1 2014 edition is more likely to outsell the tf701t by an order of magnitude. As such, there are likely more developers for the Note because it is the more popular device.
As a point of reference, you can compare development support for the Note 10.1 (original version) and the tf700, two previously competing flagships from Samsung and ASUS. A quick look at their respective xda forums will show:
1. Note 10.1: 117 threads in the Android Development section, 18 threads in the Original Android Development section
2. Tf700: 108 threads in the Android Development section
Obviously the numbers can’t tell the quality of the development community, but if you go purely by size, the original Note 10.1 surely has an advantage.
At the moment if you have no interest in the S-Pen there's no point in paying the extreme markup for the Note 2014, especially if you don't like touchwiz. Most AOSP built roms do not support the S-Pen. You might as well hold out for a Nexus 10 for 300 if you're interested in the screen resolution.
Own TF700t and Galaxy 10.1 2014 version
Had the TF 700 for two months before the screen just started to crack and became non - responsive. No abuse, no drops, in a case. Asus would charge 265 + shipping to replace screen. Contacted credit card insurance, collected the money and bought the Galaxy 10.1 2014 edition. BEST DECISION EVER! Still exploring the uses of s pen and awesome functions. I also had the tf 201 and did drop that one, tried to replace touchscreen...but, didn't quite turn out. Go with the Galaxy - much better quality, features, support and access to accessories. Read other blogs/forums on the cracked screen issues that Asus has and complaints with bbb.
Asus is very good about releasing updates, for the first 2 years, asus does not allways put the most current version of android on their tablets at release though. Samgsung does not have as good of build quality. TF701 is metal, Gaxlaxy Note 10.1 2014 is all plastic. I would go with the tf701.
by the way you are not stuck on touchwiz, you can install clockwork mod, or install GEL and switch the font to a better font then samgsung's defualt.
good Afternoon all,
just need a bit of help and reviews on what people think, i am looking at getting a new phone ..
but i don't know what to pick from Samsung Note 3 or Note 4 or S5...
i read a bit what they say the Note 4 going to have - is the Note 4 basically the Samsung S5 but bigger?
what do you people think, if you own an Note 3 or Samsung S5... what are the benefits over each other, i like to take camera photos as well
thanks in advance
Both cameras are great on the note 3 and s5. I don't know the specs on the note 4, but comparing s5 to note 3, it's all about screen size. I personally don't want a phone that big but some people love it.
The note series has always been a step ahead of the galaxy S series though. So I would assume the note 4 would probably be a bit better specs wise than the s5, specifically the ram and probably the processor speed and series.
If you like the bigger screen, go for it. But I own an s5 and love it. Very responsive, no lag like the s4 had.

galaxy note 5 confirmed to be announcing in 13 august this year and it will sure having a new interface touchwiz skin of course it will be much better than the s6 many features it will add like
1-enhanced pen applications
2-updated camera application
and many things enhanced but with removing deal breaker features like sd card and also a fixed battery
q1- will u upgrade to note 5 all the way without caring about removing features ?
q2-or you will just find xda note 5 roms and flashed and staying in note 3 ?
i will not update simply because the newer phones dont give me more usability than my note 3. i dont need more power since my note 3 runs pretty fluently with costum rom/kernel and the only things thats get better are the cameras buuuuuuut not as much as they have to make me changing my current phone.
for the rom ports. lets wait and see. devs doing a really awesome job so far porting newer touchwiz versions
Even if i would buy a note 5 i would flash an aosp rom ? So i gonna stick another year with my note 3. Android M will come for sure (cm13)
The deciding factor for me at least will be which battery rumor turns out correct. We still don't know if it's a 3000 mAh or a 4100 mAh unit (we ALL hope it's the latter, I guess ).
If it's a 4100 mAh, with the Exynos 7420 inside the thing will be able to last two days and I'll really consider it.
If the 3000 mAh rumor turns out to be true, well, I'll keep my Note 3 till the Nexus 5 (2015) comes out. There was a leaked AnTuTu bench result which downright smashed everything else on the table which suggests the Snapdragon 820 inside.
So, if I have to have a crappy battery life, I prefer it in pure AOSP package.
Wether I upgrade or not depends on three things:
MicroSD slot
CPU/GPU combo
mAh.
If it comes without a MicroSD, everything else is irrelevant. I will not buy it. I have a 128GB MicroSD that's completely full with films and series.
Spare me the mentions of the cloud, try living next to the border for a while, or use public transport in a mobile deadzone for 6 hours a day, see if you still think the cloud is an option.
And anyone who mentions that the MicroSD is slow, and how 'amazingly fast' internal memory is: It's not meant for apps, you muppet.
If it does come with a MicroSD slot, then an Exynos is still a no-go for me. Ditto for any mAh rating below or on par with the 3200mAh of my Note 3.

God I hope so... Exynos is pure crap wrapped up in a layer of sheer rubbish. Especially the Mali GPU that comes with it.... I will never buy an Exynos device again.
An S820 would be perfect.
But then there's this.... IF this is true, then anyone buying the Note 5 is an idiot, when the Note 4 is a far superior device that is far less expensive.

My bad, I didn't complete my sentences.
The Note 5 will have Exynos only, the monstrous AnTuTu bench had the name Nexus 5 (2015) in it.

Bummer.
I did spot a report on the S820 being tested, though. Note 6, anyone?
It's bad note 5 doesnt had sd card slot and removeable battery :/
I would rather buy saygus v2.... Then note 5 or s6 edge +...... Samsung going down in mobile....
Its either note 6, or no note user further... Looks like samsung took note users for granted.... Let samsung face it.. Bye bye samsung...

Aparently they're also releasing a dualSIM Note 5 where the second SIMslot doubles as a MicroSD slot. (According to Sammobile). And that's just for China.
I'll keep saying it, chances are we'll see a Note5+ with a Snapdragon 820 and MicroSD slot for Europe once the S820 becomes available.

Hi fellas
i need some suggestions from users of s7 edge and one plus 3t. Now the year has passed and s7 edge is around 600 bucks for pearl black 128gb in my town and one plus 3t 64gb is 460 bucks.
Which one should i get for next 2 years to keep?
My prime requirement is the phone's battery and not much slowdown in performance after two years.
Camera for clear scanning of some documents and other office related tasks plus some occasional family photography and selfies etc.
Is it worth spending a little extra for s7 edge.
thanx in advance.
S7 edge is a good phone, buy the 3t is also. It has a higher benchmark. I was going to buy a 3t or P10 plus, but I chosen the P10 plus after using both devices. The 3t is newer than the S7 running stock Android with some nice tricks. The S7 is a solid phone but personally I think the 3t is the better choice, it definitely out performs the S7 regarding speed in my opinion. Antutu benchmark is 160.000

Nice
Overall, this phone is nice. Im using it since November and it's awesome.
IMO Samsung has some real issues with bloat and optimization. Aside from the phone being so generic (aside from 90hz and exynos 850 which might as well be another MT G35), I always hated and still hate Samsung's software especially for dumb limitations like no more than 3 fingerprints (this is true for any samsung phone with a fingerprint since the S5) and no adoptive storage (This was the case since Android 6). I can't run it at 60Hz even with a GSI without the phone feeling like it is chugging for CPU. I will say that the enormous battery is amazing but at the same time everyone else is offering a battery of this size. Also while 90Hz at this price point is amazing, I hate the pointless notch that they have and would much rather have a proper and symmetrical bezel instead or at least a hole punch.
