Can't install any twrp on Redmi Note 7 pro - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I've been trying to set up twrp all day, but after almost every attempt, I gave up. If i put official and last twrp, the phone goes to bootloop and has to be flashed through MiFlash global ROM, after some custom twrp or Peter's twrp, nothing happens, if i try to enter recovery mode after some old twrp's, the phone automatically goes to bootloop.
What am I doing wrong, friends? Plz help.

Unlocked? I know stupid question but...
Fastboot, flash recovery, don't reboot and but ur finger on vol+ and power button?
What for steps u made and adb plus driver? Maybe some can help u.

So, i did like yoy wrote in instruction, when was first reboot, i pressed button to enter into fastboot, then flashed twrp, then again restarted for finishing process of instalation. When all is completed, tried entereing into recovery, there's not twrp, just factory recovery was.
So doesn't work this one.

Then flash the recovery.zip with the booted not flashed recovery.img

I suppose, maybe something bad with adb drivers? Coz i didn't update it since i have RN5... But in console seems everything is ok, the device is connected and see.

And again not one time

I don't really understand asking you not to rebooting the device until I flash twrp. My steps: If I'm flashing through MiFlash, then the device automatically reboots, I tried to enter fastboot mode at the moment of reboot, and yeah I entered and flashed recovery(at least seems like that), but then when the device rebooted manually , again I see that there is not a custom recovery, maybe I missed something and your devices do not do automatic reboot during the flashing, or your instructions are wrong. Sorry man.

[Q] "No command." error while trying to access recovery?

I have unlocked the bootloader on my Moto G.
I have also flashed ClockworkMod Touch sucsessfully, but it did not boot after the first reboot, even when I said yes to "Disabling the stock recovery reflashing".
Now, whenever I enter fastboot mode (POWER + VOLDOWN) and select RECOVERY, it comes up with "No command." and a picture of an android lying down, with its front open, with warning symbol. (See attached)
I have tried reflashing the recovery using fastboot, but the same problem happens.
Any help?
Press volume up for 10 seconds and then just tap power button once and release both.

Get the same issue after flashing a recovery with fastboot...
how i fixed it :
Flashed another one (CWM swipe on the cm11 thread) through fastboot mode
once recovery flash is done, go in the recovery RIGHT NOW (volume down to scroll, volume up to select ; don't touch power button)
once in the recovery, flash supersu if it has to be done, then reboot
Worked for me
Left it overnight plugged into my laptop, now my phone isn't turning on.
So yay, I have bricked my first smartphone!

That said, it has been unbricked.
Whenever I flash a recovery, I still get "No command.", Phenom.
Thanks
That new step above is the thing to do: hold Vol Up for like 15 seconds and then just tap power. It should work, but kinda tricky to get the first times.
I got the same "No Command" screen when I flashed TWRP recovery. Then I went back to bootloader mode and flashed it again. This time I noticed a "Mismatched partition size" error (it's probably there before but I didn't pay attention). Then I flashed CWM recovery & got the same mismatched partition size error. Then I flash TWRP again & again got the mismatched partition size error. At that point I searched xda forum & found someone said it's OK. That error message just means the new recovery size is different from the old one. So I tried going to recovery (vol down then vol up) and magically it worked!
Get the normal CWM, then
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then right away enter in it, vol down to highlight it, vol up to select/enter.It should work

If your flashing CWM, flash it then select recovery and press volume up, if it ask for something choose yes, if it still shows no command press UP + POWER button if nothing happens just keep pressing up + power until it boots into recovery.

What is this supposed to do? It gives me some commands but doesn't look like clockworkmod recovery. I think it is default android recovery but I thought cwm was supposed to replace that?
When I first flashed CWM and booted into recovery it worked fine. Then I chose 'Reboot Now' and selected 'Disable system recovery' and 'Enable root'. However now when I reboot into recovery CWM doesn't work and I can't tell if I have root.

I'm assuming you mean to do this through CMD prompt? when I try to put that in it just says < waiting for device > and it sits there. (regarding to the fastboot erase recovery part)

If your phone is XT1032 try to install this TWRP instead of CWM using the same procedure (of course in fastboot mode)
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Replace your zip with this SuperSU zip and copy it in SD Card
Then
- go in recovery mode
- INSTALL
- select SuperSU zip
- swipe
I think it should work

[Q] Stuck in TWRP Recovery Mode

Hi there!
I just had a go at flashing my new HTC One M8, and I'm stuck in recovery mode.
I followed these instructions:
androidcentral.us/2014/04/root-att-htc-one-m8/
But got the TWRP file from here because the original link was overloaded:
androidfiles.org/?developer=M8&folder=Recoveries
I essentially just ran:
Code:
fastboot-mac erase
cachefastboot-mac
flash boot recovery.img
fastboot-mac reboot
Then installed the SuperSU update zip. Now every time I try reboot into the Android system, it boots into recovery mode. If I boot into the bootloader, I get the option to boot using fastboot but that appears to fail (it returns me to the bootloader after a second). If I select hboot, it says "No image or wrong image!" after trying to load a .nbh file.
Any ideas?
BTW, I got the unlocked version from Amazon: amazon.com/HTC-One-M8-Unlocked-Warranty/dp/B00J3554KE/

you flashed recovery to kernel partition! The guide is wrong as i read.
To flash recovery:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
BUT you will also need to flash the kernel again as you just messed it up!
Ouch! Ok, that sucks that steps I was following were wrong. :/ But at least I feel less like an idiot.
So I found a boot.img from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51580259 and flashed that. Now I'm not returning to the recovery screen, but to the bootloader always and it gives the same message about wrong image.
Here are the commands I ran:
Code:
./fastboot-mac erase cache
./fastboot-mac flash boot boot.img
./fastboot-mac flash recovery Recovery.img
./fastboot-mac reboot

Download this rom please --> LINK
The rom includes stock kerne. Just download it and we'll try to flash just the included kernel file as it should get your device back working.
Otherwise you'll have to flash full rom via twrp.
Please tell me when your download is ready. And this time do yourself a favor and DON'T act on your own as long as you don't know what you're doing...

Try another way here, for entering twrp.
After you flashed the recovery successfully. Do not type the command of "fastboot reboot".
On your phone, press and hold the POWER and UP VOLUME buttons together until you enter the TWRP recovery. (It will power off and boot up recovery)
Note: Do not let it boot to normal system startup. This this case, you need to reflash the recovery via fastboot and follow the steps above again.
After you have root the phone successfully, you can enter the TWRP recovery without flashing via fastboot already.
Hope above help you.

If the touches screen doesn't work, It might be the TWRP recovery issue. You can try flash other version to solve the problem.
Anyway, great to know everything works for you now.
I've this issue.
TWRP is installed but:
- if I boot via [power]+[vol+] I enter in old stock recovery
- if I boot via fastboot using command "fastboot boot recovery.img", TWRP is loaded correctly

If the touches screen doesn't work, It might be the TWRP recovery issue. You can try flash other version to solve the problem.

on my mi4c, when I boot TWRP 2.8.7.1, touchscreen NEVER works at first time.
But if I wait 2-3 minutes, leaving phone running TWRP, after this touchscreen start working

Yes very first time after I flashed and entered the TWRP recovery successfully, I need to wait for few minutes and the touchscreen only start working.
Then I have flashed a few other versions of TWRP, I have forgotten which one I have flashed already, my TWRP recovery works immediately without any touchscreen issue.
Is twrp available from flashify?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify
I just created a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/development/flash-twrp-using-flashify-app-pc-dev-rom-t3230355

This is out of control

can someone explain to me why all the recovery options i try in the flash process of custom rom installation lose touch capability at some point in those steps after rebooting?
i have tried all releases of twrp older and newer for ocean.. i have tried orange fox.. they all work until about halfway through the flash process when a reboot to recovery is needed.. the recovery comes up just fine and then loses touch functionality and i cant recover it unless i flash back to stock and start all over again..
the phone is x1955-5 and is brand new and was just taken out of the box. theres nothing wrong with the handset and theres no way i can be the only one having this problem. this has got to be related to this bull**** a/b partition scheme.
god what a stupid idea to create this trash.

All steps in the guide you shared were followed exactly as printed.. After step 6 and before step 8, when booting back into twrp, i lost touch functionality and could not proceed forward (unless i sideload)..
which I havent tried again because even sideloading in the past doesn't give me success in installing the rom.. next comes to the bootloops.. tried the following recoveries..
twrp-3.3.1-1-ocean.img
twrp-3.3.1-2-ocean.img
twrp-3.4.0-0-ocean.img
OrangeFox-R1.2-Stable-ocean (3) .img

I cant even get to that point because the loss of touch function occurs earlier in the process than rom installation as printed in most guides..

Then boot into the recovery from adb comands put the recovery img in ur adb folder then put phone in fastboot mode then fastboot devices to make sure phone is seen then type fastboot boot (the name of the recovery u chose) then hit enter bottom then ur phone will be in the choice of recovery u booted into . now some roms come with there own recovery's so after u flashed rom then don't reboot jus go back and flash a recovery now make sure u follow the flashing guid I sent after phone has butted up shut down put phone in fastboot mode then boot in to recovery using phone keys if it freezes or no touch u can go at it two ways . 1st is if no touch is manuly restart phone in fastboot then phone keys into recovery might take 3 times or more then works .2 boot into fastboot boot into ur recovery to finish flashing . This recovery zip I'm sending is ofox recovery flash it while ur in booted recovery then ur touch should work if any problems go to the tellagram group motog7 power support group

Hi, I have a friend who comes around 9am this morning, I have already tested all the methods to try to root this model redmi 9a dandelion but there is nothing to do, you need a TWRP no choice, I want to test the holds if you have one. But I can test that when my friend is there, he is the one who has redmi 9a and I confirm I have unlocked his bootloader

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot recovery.img (Here we replace "flash" with "boot" so in case recovery does not work, we don't have it flashed in system)

magisk don't work because of encryption. Magisk installed right under twrp but it doesnt work. I also formatted the data it boots but because of something it reboots even though it writes well to unencrypted data. Maybe rom miui does not accept. Need maybe rom other
Just flash vbmeta
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot and hold volup
wait some
in last version works better with graphic but now need correct fstab to mount correctely partition
