I am not able to stream Netflix in HD since the latest update, my device is not rooted or anything.
Does anyone know what's going on, reinstalling the app doesn't help, also the launching of the app takes hell of a time
Late, but test another version

When it work, disable auto update.

Hello all,
I'm running stock FroYo on my TB, and haven't updated at all since I got the phone in April (waiting for the official GB release before giving up free, legal 4G hotspot). Until the last update was pushed out to everyone else, Netflix worked fine.
Now, however, the app from the market loads, but won't let me play anything. I see this error pop up, instead:
"Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit the Netflix website (11000)."
This error occurs on WiFi and 3G/4G. I have tried the following to no avail:
Rebooting the phone
Signing out and into Netflix
Uninstalling and reinstalling Netflix
I did search the forums for similar issues, but didn't find anything. If I missed a thread with a solution, please let me know.
Is updating a requirement to get Netflix to work? Is there an alternative APK I could try?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Its probably related to the fact you haven't updated and possibly the app has. If the hotspot is that important to you, just root and use wireless tether....
If you dont want to root then get PdaNet and thether that way
Thanks for your response, Jrocker!
Verizon may start cracking down on unauthorized tethering, per this article (although there may be workarounds), so I'm wary of rooting, and PDAnet doesn't create a wireless hotspot, so it cannot be used on my tablet.
Anyone on these boards not yet updated, and still able to run Netflix?
Same error message from me. I have a custom ROM and have access to the queue, but am blocked from actually watching any shows.
Update
I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it via the Market and the shows will once again stream. Give it a try!
so ive downloaded the huluplus modded app from xda to use on my unrooted transformer (i have the latest US update).
whenever i try to play a video it loads the ads perfectly but then tries to buffer the show unsuccessfully and gives me a message telling me to check my connection and try again. afaik my connection is perfectly fine. i can stream hulu on my laptop just fine and this problem still happens even on the lowest quality.
any ideas?
hello...
I just upgraded to ics and rooted it
I tried every method mentioned here and still was unable to get hulu to play. GF really likes it so I had to try everything!!! anyway the only way I was able to get it to work was through www.playon.tv . I don't like that you have to pay for it but I don't see another way right now. They have a 2 week free trial so that might get you to the point to where you can find a hack that works for you. If you do please post a how to reply!!

that happened to me even on HC. did it not happen to you back then? I thought it was a normal issue. I would always end up using the modded flash player, now i'm having trouble getting THAT to work lol

Heres what I do to get mine working

My Razr M has been rooted for several months now, and I've noticed since being rooted two services no longer work like they should. The watch espn app no longer loads anything I try to watch, and hulu+ now has a problem loading the adds, which consequently stops all playback. Also, the hulu+ app on other devices(Roku, PS3, tablet) that are connected to the Razr M hotspot act the same way.
From what I can tell it's only these two apps that don't like the root... Is anyone else experiencing these playback problems? and is there a way to fix it?
Hi folks, my apologies if this is a known issue but i'm asking as the amount of info is monumental. Have been having a playback issue for a while now but i need to get to the bottom of it and was hoping someone here may shine some light on it. As the title says youtube play back is pretty poor. I have a rooted Tf101 running KatKiss 4.4.4 with the latest youtube version and constantly get stutters freezes and buffering. Thought it might be my Wifi but with my phone (LG G3) i have no such problems. Have tried clearing cache and app data, reinstalling and even older versions but with no luck. I have also tried overclocking with no luck, so am i wasting my time and this will never work properly or is there something i am missing. Again thanks for any help offered.
You need to lower the quality to 480p or use an older version.
Search forum for the latest version that works.
Will try it at a lower res first, thanks. Seems to do the trick but noticed that the 480p setting has gone. It's either 360p which is terrible or 720 which appears to be to much. 480 was good middle ground, (still shows on my G3) which is the same YouTube version. Any ideas on how I can get it back?
Was present a few days ago but now its gone.
Hello,
I have a same problem on Katkiss 5.1 (23).
Any idea ?

Decided to go back to KK because its still faster then Lollipop and after formatting data and system YouTube is working great in 720p.
Pretty odd, no?
Hello all
I have the (e)xperience, that I always need to restard the phone, before the Netflix app starts without failure. Anyone else this behavior?

No problem with Netflix on my phone.
Delete data and cache and try again.
I'm facing the same issue. Haven't found what's causing it or any workaround to avoid restarting the phone. Deleting data & cache haven't helped. Even reinstalled the app.
I have the same issue not only with Netflix but also with Disney Plus. I think something is messed up with how the phone manages DRM.
I have the exact same issue, and it concerns Netflix, Disney+ and HBO.
same problem here also with p.v and d+, only restart fix the problem temporarily, i noticed also that the cromecast works , so its a minor problem for me because rarely i watch netflix on phone, i hope sony fix this with the next update, its absurde that the app come preinstalled in the phone and works bad ?
Just found the same issue on the first week I was using this phone on early October. I told with the Sony CS and reported this bug to them but they didn't think it's a bug as they told me not so many users reported to them. They won't try to fix this problem....
I had this with the old firmware, with the security patches of August. With the latest firmware, patches of November, I don't have it.
Same annoying problem here with Netflix and Prime Video, even after the firmware update including December patch.
Same problem here. I wasn't even aware of it until reading this thread as I always use a Chromecast.
Same problem here. First time Netflix after restart no problems. After having used the phone for a while and going back to Netflix, videos refuse to start. Red circle keeps spinning, eventually resulting in Netflix error 5.7.
Only a phone restart will fix this. Very annoying.
Any solutions?
I'm having this issue with Netflix as well. Just got the phone, it's on the latest software version. I haven't tried Prime video yet. Not a huge deal, since I only watch videos on my phone when I travel, and well...yeah, that won't be happening for a while. Agree it needs to be fixed.
Dear all - so I am not alone with this problem. (I didn't receive any updates on that threat). Especially, as it is a preinstalled app, Sony should get this work. How can we contact them?

It really is pretty poor having a pre instilled app not working properly.
It looks like I no longer have the issue with Prime, only with Netflix. So it could be an issue with the app itself. Has anyone tried to contact Netlfix support?
For me this is solved since my Xperia 5ii was updated to Android 11.
For me, too, with the update, it is gone!
