Waterproof hard case for K20 pro/ Mi 9t pro - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Accessories

Hey Mi users,
I have been on the lookout for a waterproof hard case for the K20 pro / Mi 9t pro, but haven't managed to find one. I'd like to use my phone in combination with a QuadLock for running and cycling and would like some weather protection. An universal waterproof pouch won't work because the QuadLock system needs to attach to a hard surface. Maybe a universal waterproof hard case could work, but I didn't find any.
Open to case suggestions and other waterproofing tips.
Thx
Kaï

I doubt there will ever be a waterproof case for the K20 Pro because of the pop up camera

yeah i was worried at first about waterproofing but then i have seen some vids showing testing it after being dunked under water for over 5mins and came out fine but who knows with editing but i also i watched JerryRigEverything take it apart and even though its not been certified by xiaomi for a waterproof rating it still has rubber around most of the seals where water would get in so a little rain or sweat is not going to damage it, i wouldn't take it underwater diving to take photos but any case should be fine for some weather protection
i actually went with a rugged case off aliexpress the Rugged Armor Mi 9 SE 9T Case For Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 6 Pro 7 Case 6A 4X 4 7A S2 Mi A1 6X A2 8 Lite Pocophone F1 Cases Silicone
as it has dust caps for the ports too which was another issue i thought might be a problem, and has added benefit of abit of front lip so dont have to worry about screen touching surface either, yet to get it so can't tell you how much it adds to the bulk of phone or if blocks cameras in any way. will let you know once i do get it

My device did fall in water few days back and came out working fine like before.

I think there is some water protection, it just isn't advertised, I watched jerryrigeverything breakdown video and there seems to be a few rubber gaskets around ports and what not

Right, it's not advertised as water-proof, because manufacturer couldn't attain IP certificate. If they did advertised it as such, they would only ask for unneccessary issues with authorities. But some form of water-proof is indeed in there. Diving is not recommended, but it certainly will survive much more than some random splashes.

Probably would have made the phone cost more too as they would have to pay to get the certification.

List Accessories (Case,...) for Kate Version (Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition)

Hello Guys!
As you might know the RN3 Pro SE is now available but dimensions are slightly different from the standard RN3.
What does that mean?
Screen protections and cases don't fit with the new RN3 pro SE dimensions and we have no info about compatible items.
The goal here is to post ALL related items (case, screen protection,...) which should perfectly fit with the Redmi Note 3 Pro Special Edition called Kate .
Thanks!
Really? Are the dimensions really different from standard RN3? I doubt this.

Yes. The "Special Edition" (Kate) is 2mm longer than the "regular" Version (Kenzo). 152mm vs. 150mm.
Cases for Kenzo don't fit Kate.
I am also interested in knowing where to get cases for the special edition. Preferably the original Xiaomi transparent silicone bumper.
Found this on reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/5050vx/xiaomi_redmi_note_3_pro_special_edition_cases/
He claims that if fits ok except camera & figerprint that are 2 mm lower.

Maybe could be a good start^^.Anyway still looking for an official case.
Already ordered a kate device.
i will test once i get the device. i have 4 cases for my kenzo.
i think only the drop proof case with the big bumpy corners (that came with my phone when i ordred it by dreami) will fit its pretty large.

in a german community it was told that the buttom part is longer then the kenzo. he applied a tempered glass which fittet perfectly fine on top, but at the buttom there were 2mm not covered.

I'd like to hunt down a good case for this phone as well. I have a Pudding TPU case for Kenzo and it doesn't really fit well. If I could find one for Kate that would be ideal. A generic clear TPU case doesn't fit well either. Would be interested to see what people find.
I can't believe they did not release any cases with "kate" official or unofficial.
still not received the phone... ****ing long wait..
We're all in the same boat...
No one got a right case to fit with our wonderful Kate
Anyway, I am checking everyday on various websites/forums but no news...
I hope chinese providers from AliExpress and Xiaomi are working on it!
ALL Kate sellers such as GeekBuying, Xiaomi Authorised, .... have a strong demand on this smartphone!
I only have my KENZO for 7 days now and gearbest had a great offer for the KATE... Well now i ordered a Kate. As I already have the ipaky cover I will test it with Kate... But already now it's so snug that I already can tell that it won't fit or even break the cover. I will report too.
Hi Guys!
I Found this :
Covers:
buy.mi.com/tw/accessories/53-12433
Tempered glass:
buy.mi.com/tw/accessories/55-12433
It is fully fit the Spec. Edition. (Kate). One problem, it is not possible to order outside, only Taiwan.... Now i try to find a reseller....
at least we know cases exist.
the backcover is fine, but i would prefer an original slim silicone bumper which also covers the buttons.
tempered glass seems to be available for kate:

Good news! I hope the next step is the cover on resellers!
Good start... although I feel it might be a few weeks until we something like the Pudding TPU one available from somewhere like Aliexpress
I bought this one because i needed one fast so i didnt want to wait from china : Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/351633550681
But it doesnt fit quite well.
If i put bottom first, then usb is ok but not micro phone. Jack is ****ed and IR and mic on top also.
If i put top first then all in the top is ok but not bottom mic and usb. So i'll try to melt the bottom part to make the holes wider but i feel like the case is too small.
Now i least its protected a bit so im waiting for some good links and i order again
A rep from GearBest replied to my question on a FreakTab board saying that they will have covers/cases for kate. So just a matter of time.
Hey,
How do I tell if I have a Kate or a Kenzo model? I know the cpu in mine is a SD 650. I ordered a case for the Redmi Note 3 and it seems to be too short... about 2 mm too short to fit on my phone. Because of this I believe I may have a Kate model because of that but how can I know for sure?
Thanks

Simple case for Mi 5 that you can attach a lanyard to?

Hi,
Is anyone aware of a simple and reasonable looking (not cute or covered in decorations) case for the Mi5/s that you can attach a lanyard to. I'm after two cases, a waterproof one, of which there are a numerous generic ones on Amazon (very few Mi5 specific) but also just a simple case that the phone sits in, to which a lanyard can be attached, as I work outdoors and would like to use this phone to replace my compact camera.
I've been searching on Google and anything vaguely like what I'm after is either leather, covered in cartoons or made to resemble melting ice cream.

Ringke Fusion for Mi 5 might right be up your alley. In my country, it came with a note to leave an honest review on the item and they sent a high quality handstrap worth $11. Sorry can't link yet.
+1 for the Ringke Fusion. I have it, not the best on "preserving the look", but it definitely protects very well the phone.
And obviously you can attach a lanyard.
Thanks, I've decided to go for a Mi5s, for which there seems to be even less accessories and cases for. If anyone knows of any suitable ones for the Mi5s, please comment below. Otherwise, I think I'll need to modify a standard Mi5s case.

Just cracked my screen

FYI, get a case for your phab 2 pro.
I got my phone on Wed. It fell out of my pocket jacket as I was getting in my car. Normally it would be in my back pant pocket if I'm walking around. No case, and now cracked screen. I'm guessing no gorilla glass on this phone?
I'm coming from a Note 4, that I dropped numerous times without a case, and have yet to crack my screen. Only scruffs and scratches. I was debating between the phab 2 pro and xiaomi mi mix. The mi mix looked so delicate, and the phab 2 pro is built like a tank. I guess the heavy weight doesn't help if you drop your phone.
I liked the phone. huge screen. good battery life. almost stock android experience. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted.

Me, too. But Lenovo is not making my "usual" easy. No accessories (case, screen protector, etc.) offered with the release of the phone! I was looking at Lenovo tablets and they offer cases and screen protectors at a discount when ordered with the tablet!!! Seems like any accessories I could find (on Amazon) are available either November 30th or 17th...
I'm so sorry that you're phone already broke! That shouldn't happen to anyone! I am sure that it's too soon to get anyone who can fix it... But I hope that you can soon...
Lenovo warranty wouldn't cover drops and spills... Well, the SquareTrade Warranty I have on my Note 3 doesn't either... Only mechanical problems...

Oh no, I feel sorry for your loss
Hopefully this doesn't mean the lp2p has a poor design for robustness
Gorilla glass is very hard to scratch but can be brittle. Metal frames don't absorb impacts like a decently thick plastic body.
My Plan B is a Xiaomi Mi Max 4GB 128GB phone. They have some really good cases for it but no good screen protectors. The only reason I am hesitating is because I had a Huawei Mediapad X2 7" screen which I loved. Except that I got horrible MMS service from... So yesterday I read every post on my Plan B and one person posted that his phone was doing things with MMS that my X2 had done... I think that would happen to me with any non-USA released phone... So I HAVE to get this Phab 2 Pro!

They have some cases. Sucks the screen broke. Screen protectors don't help for falls. Damage happens to the frame of the phone so the glass breaks.

P2P does not have gorilla glass, according to this comparison with Xiaomi Mi Max. I hope that's wrong. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Xiaomi-Mi-Max,Lenovo-Phab-2-Pro/phones/10044,10108
edit: Then, this site says gorilla glass, just gorilla glass, not 2, 3, 4 or 5. http://www.gsm-specs.com/lenovo-phab-2-pro/ or this site http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/smartphones/phab-series/phab2-pro/ Would expect GG 4, like other phones right about now.
the phab 2 pro is so darn heavy, that any fall is probably detrimental to the huge glass screen. Just unfortunate that it was in a parking lot and not a soft carpet to land on. It's still usable. I'll just get a glass protector and tape over it so the pieces won't fall off. I hate using cases because it makes a huge phone even bigger. Oh well, lesson learned. I doubt a mi mix would have survived the fall either.

The P2P cases they show on Amazon are not for the P2P. You can see in the pictures that the holes do not match up in the back. There's only ONE case on Amazon that looks right - and it's not available until November 17!!!
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
this site also says gorilla glass, just not which type
http://smartphones.specout.com/l/6402/Lenovo-Phab-2-Pro
I bought this, but it really only helps with the slippery body of the phone. It wouldn't help the phone survive any drops that would damage a caseless phone. I'm looking forward to something a little more substantial, along the lines of a Seidio case.
It's just a straightforward TPU case. Nothing much to it.
THAT is the only case I saw on Amazon that looked right. I don't think that it would offer much protection from anything but scratches on the body of the phone and make the phone feel less slippery. I am hoping some manufacturers feel like there is enough demand for an Otterbox style case for this phone!

Falls are always tricky. I dropped my Nexus 6 several times, including a 12 foot drop from a ladder straight flat onto the screen, and no cracks. I let my wife borrow it until her new phone came in and it fell 2 feet from her hands and cracked the whole screen.
This case fits the P2P well, just ignore the photo on the auction.
http://r.ebay.com/F4T7oF
It has nice raised edge around the holes for the back cameras, a hole for the back mic and a flat hole for the fingerprint that makes it easy to distinguish from the wide-angle camera by feel. It adds a very little bulk and just the right amount of protection. My phone has already survived one fall 2 hardwood floor from the bed.

Poco F1 Gorilla Glass Version

So, today I spoke to Xiaomi customer care and asked them what version of Gorilla Glass does Poco F1 have.
To my surprise, they said the device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. I asked them repeatedly if it's GG3 or GG5 and the rep kept saying it's GG5
I am not sure if he was bluffing or if the device really comes with GG5
Even on Corning official website, they didn't mention anything about the version of GG used on Poco F1
Maybe someone can ask them if there is anyway to display from the USB port WITH A CABLE (not wireless) to an external monitor/TV?
What is the USB spec?
I think it's just USB 2.0 data & charging with a Type-C Jack.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/help/poco-f1-mhl-hdmi-t3842287
At its price range, 3rd version is more reasonable

Even I am confused. And even Corning didn't mention the version GG that was used on Poco F1. But on other devices, they mentioned it.
Link: https://www.corning.com/gorillaglass/in/en/smartphones-with-gorilla/xiaomi/poco-f1.html
Anyway, I have sent an email to Corning. Let see if they responded back.
Update: Okay so I got a response from Corning and this is what they have to say.
Now this seems to be highly suspicious to me. Why doesn't Xiaomi want to release the version of GG used on this device. I got a call from customer support team yesterday apologizing for giving me incorrect information. Poco F1 doesn't have GG5. But the guy who called me couldn't tell me what version does the device have. He said he only knows it has 2.5D GG. Anyway, I will now tweet Xiaomi India CEO with this screenshot. It's our right to know what we are using.

I don't think it's GG3 as I have used GG3 on MI A1 and Nokia 7 plus without any screen protector and didn't get a single scratch. But on Poco F1, I already got 2 scratches. Not only me, but a lot of people have reported that the glass on Poco F1 is very scratch prone. I know I can avoid the scratches by using a tempered glass. But I don't like using another layer of plastic sheet on the screen that affects the touch response and reduce the vividity of the screen.
It's most likely a version 3 or newer. It also might vary depending on whether it is made in India/China.
Why is it so important for you to know what version it is anyway?
If you're worried about scratches just take more care of your device or use a screen protector.

Agreed and this thread is completely pointless imo
Gorilla glass or not...it wont avoid any scratches, a little sandgrain in your pocket and its done
Maybe marketing reasons.
You hope to have GG5 installed over GG3, but ask yourself, what's the difference? Is it really more scratchproof? I guess not, just look at scratch tests online of different phones.
Gorilla Glass is a trademark and a selling argument, therefore phone manufacturer most likely have to pay money to promote their products with latest GG5, instead of simply GG.

What are you even doing here if you find this post "Completely pointless"?
You should be ignoring it rather than wasting your time on commenting. And F.Y.I, I think I know what can be posted and what not. If you got any problem (which you shouldn't since I didn't violate any XDA policy), report it to the mod rather than being sarcastic. Do you guys always have to intervene everywhere to divert a simple conversation into a hot argument? When you do something, that's fair. And when others do it, it's pointless and stupid?
Thank you!

It is important for me to know because I feel so. It's not about being worried, it's about having complete information about the device that I am using. I paid for the device and I have full right to have my doubt cleared. Is there a problem if I want to clarify or create a thread on XDA asking others about their opinion?? If YES, then would you mind guiding me to the XDA section where it is written so?
Thank You!!
Hey brother relax, would be nice to know anyway. But i believe the only differenc between 3th and 5th gen of GG is the resistance against cracks isn't it? Like drop and impacts.
Btw our poco is pretty unresistent against random drops, you can check it from youtube tests

True! Thats what I an saying. I have used GG3 on Mi A1 and Nokia 7 plus and J know how good it is. But the glass on Poco F1 is not that good. I already got a scratch, I don’t know how and from where. J don't remember dropping it or placing it with something else. My other device Nokia 7 pmus manages not to get scratched in the last 3 months.

Didn't intend to offend you.
I just dont understand how it makes any difference knowing the answer.
It's a glass screen. It will scratch. Just take better care of it. :good:
Scratch happen due to tiny dust particles not because of key or knife which youtuber shows because iron and other metals have hardness lower than Gorilla Glass which is 6 but dust particles has hardness of 9 so they will easily scratch any kind of Gorilla Glass whether it's GG6 or GG3. Only sapphire glass has hardness equal to dust particles that is 9. That's why they are used in expensive watches but it is too expensive even apple doesn't use it except on camera lenses. For proof you can watch "Jerry rig everything's" video on poco f1 where he scratches its screen with different grades of hardened materials it gets scratched on level 6 like every other smartphone (even note 9, Apple 10s also gets scratched on level 6). The one who has greater hardness than other will scratch it. Hardness is measured on scale of 1 to 9 where 9 is the hardest material on earth which is Dimond. This is why Dimond is very difficult to cut but it can cut everything. Iron has greater hardness than wood that's why it is able to cut it.
So if there's any dust particle on your screen and you just slides your fingers on it or just rubs your screen against anything like in pocket then it's done. They are so tiny that you can't even notice them. They are everywhere in your pocket, on your fingers everywhere.
The deference between GG3 and GG6 is of only thickness. GG3 is two times thicker than GG6. You can experience this by looking at your screen, you will notice that screen is not touching the glass and there is slight gap between glass and screen because glass has some thickness but if you have ever used GG6 glass phone then you will feel like you are just touching and typing on the screen itself (which feels amazing, like in Samsung Galaxy s9 or note 9) there is no difference between screen and glass, It's that thin but also having same hardness and strength as GG3.
If you hate tempered glass like me but also don't want scratches at the same time then you can use film like screen guards. They don't add any thickness plus doesn't reduce any touch response and don't get bubbles on edges. They are also very clear, you will forget that you have any kind of screen guard on. Here is the link of clear screen guard that I'm using its one of the best film type screen guard available bit expensive but worth it. You can search on youtube "ringke dual easy" to learn how to apply it cause it has four layer and bit tricky. It is self dust removing type of screen guard. If you get bubbles after applying it then don't worry they will vanish after 2 or 3 days. Trust me I'm not promoting anything I'm using this product. There are two screen guard in ane pack. Hope i helped you.

Best bulky protection (screen and case) against drop

Hi,
I just bought a note 9 and I need your help to protect really well.
I wanted to buy the otterbox defender but it's screenless now...
I need a case and a screen protection. I don't care if it's bulky.
I don't know if I need a full body case with glass screen proection and a glass screen protection.
I drop often my phone so I need something really good. It will be great if I can buy it on Amazon.
So can you give me advice to protect this phone ?
I live in France so I can buy it on Amazon France or other Amazon european country.
Thanks for your help.
Armor-X or one of the knock-offs/sources.

Knock-off, from Amazon US:
https://www.amazon.com/XBK-Samsung-...erproof+case&qid=1550074734&s=gateway&sr=8-11
I don't know if Armor-X copied them, is using their product to make theirs, or what, but there are a bunch of cheaper versions of the Armor-X case without the glued-on "thingy" on the back out there, which oh-by-the-way, prevents wireless charging.
I've had these cases on my Note 8, and they did a better job of protecting the thing than the $275.00 milspec Juggernaut case did, which due to the physics of the whole thing, was actually more damaging to the phone than protecting. Inertia inside that heavy case is an issue that they didn't account for, in the design. Also, with the Juggernaut, the glass screen was horribly fragile--I had two breaks from dropping it on its corner in less than six months. Company did stand behind the product, though, and took care of it. I think they were used to the old-school plastic-fantastic designs Samsung had, and did not account for the metal bezel or buttons on the new phones.
Bottom line--Your best bet is one of the Armor-X knock-offs. Especially for the money, as I have had my phone in that XBK post since I took it out of the box. As well, if waterproofing is an issue, seal the ports with silicone, use wireless charging alone, and get a Note 8 stylus to use, and leave the Note 9 where it belongs--Slotted into the phone.

Thanks for your reply !
Wow those case are really slim... compared to an otterbox case.
Are you sure it will protect well against drop on the face part ?
I've dropped mine in that case on more than a few occasions, and it's done fine. I work in construction, so it's not an uncommon experience for my Note 9. Or, 8...
Key thing is, I think, using the wrist loop as appropriate, and a belt case. Looks unfashionable, but hey... It's a thousand-dollar phone; I can cope with looking like I'm behind the times.
I think that just the addition of the bumper protection around the edge is enough to keep the Note 9 safe--The majority of the time, it's going to hit edge-on, not flat. Running it into something while it's in your pocket...? Yeah, I could see breaking a screen that way. Keep it on your belt, screw fashion.
Decent case for it is available here in the US:

No idea about availability in France, but that's what I'm doing with mine, and it's been getting along just fine. I did improvise a stylus holder for the thing so I never have to open the case, which consists of some heavy-duty black duct tape, a sleeve of heat-shrink tubing, and then some black stainless-steel fishing lead wire crimped around the base of the Note 8 stylus and then the other end crimped into a loop that goes into the little lanyard-loop thingy on the case body that's meant to have the wrist loop attached to it. About 10cm of wire allows the stylus to be used, and then you're living large with what you should have had in the first damn place--I love the stylus on the Note series because it makes it sooooo much easier to use in the outdoors during inclement weather.
