Hello fellas, I bought my TMobile Oneplus 7 pro on a payment plan yesterday. I already have it bootloader unlocked, rooted and twrp installed, volte works, Netflix works(480p). Running an international version OOS 9.5.11. My question is..... Since i already did all that, can I sim unlock it in the future, after 40 days, without having to revert back to stock tmobile?
As far as I know, you only have to wait 3 days to request a permanent sim unlock. @mobbdeep can do it for you with just the account holders last name and the phone number the OP7 Pro is currently on. You will need the T-Mobile "unlock" app so you can select "Permanent Unlock" in the app though, so you *may* need to temporarily reflash stock for that, but if you ask around, someone might be able to pull the apk from theirs for you to try on international.
Also out of curiosity, how well does T-Mobile service work on the international ROM? I've been thinking of converting mine and buying a dual sim tray since mine is unlocked.

If you're already on the international firmware and have stuff flashed, you will need to revert back to the stock T-Mobile firmware in order to truly unlock your SIM. If you try downloading the Device Unlock app via Play Store or APK, it will give an invalid network unlock reading. If you have a T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro, PM me your phone number and the last name of the account holder of your T-Mobile account and I can unlock your phone in seconds. You can then use the Device Unlock app to unlock your SIM then flash the international firmware if you'd like.. that is what I did myself.
Anyway, the international version firmware is good but there's no significant difference except it's used to unlock your device but not your SIM. I have SmurfKernel and xXx NoLimits ROM module installed and my device performance has increased greatly.

I'm a new and proud owner of 2 Ph-1s, both purchased from Sprint.
While I was browsing XDA i noticed that there are two specific variants of the phone one SPRINT and the other OPENUS.
I know that one of the difference between the two variants is that Sprint is able to lock and unlock the SPRINT variant at will.
(I got the phone unlocked by paying off the lease for it and buying it out. I checked the IMEI and it was all green and good. After a few days, the IMEI was flagged as not met financial responsibility)
Do we know if there are any other specific differences between the two variants, and if there are none, can the bootloader from OPENUS be flashed on the SPRINT variant to remove any connection to Sprint.
I was looking at: https://www.essential.com/developer/current-builds
There are Kernel and Wifi drivers. I see that there are separate ones for Sprint and telus and one for all other carriers.
Would flashing the latest build for OPENUS variant also flash the kernel and wifi drivers?
Sprint variant is two updates behind. Try flashing the latest nougat here.

I did a bit more digging around the Phone apps/system apps and found the following and would want to know if folks with the OPENUS variant (non Sprint) have the same things on their phone:
Settings>Apps>Configure apps>Opening links>Carrier Hub (Open deviceservices.sprint.com)
Settings>Apps>...>Show System
[no name] 112 KB version sprint_05.07.00.02
running
Code:
adb shell pm list packages -f -s
to show all system packages shows the following sprint associated packages:

Thanks for checking friend, I appreciate it.
Regarding ADB, you dont need to be rooted to run this command, just make sure the phone has Deve settings enabled, and enable USB Debugging. Then connect your PC to the phone and use minimal adb and fastboot to run the command. You can do lots of other stuff to this way keeping your phone non-rooted and with locked bootloader.
When I look at the variant for my PH-1 (which came from Sprint, is UICC unlocked, and works great with my t-mobile SIM) it doesn't show Variant - Sprint or Variant - OPENUS. Instead, it just shows Variant - .
It doesn't list anything after Variant.
Does anyone know if there is a way to overwrite both of the A/B partitions? I think the sprint variant is reloading something from the install/backup partition that keeps the phone sim locked even if you flash the openus variant.

So, we did the same thing as you. I purchased 2. The black one was unlocked out of the box. The white one isn't (yet). Both are paid off as of yesterday, they gladly took my money, but then didn't want to issue the unlock for the white one. I may just install the NMJ32F build, and see what happens.
Where did you look to check the IMEI unlock status? Swappa? I would be on the phone ripping Sprint a new ass if they are flagging my paid for device as "not met financial responsibility". I would blow them up on twitter, facebook, etc, until the problem has been rectified.
*UPDATE* I flashed NMJ32F and it works fine. Still locked to Sprint which I figured it would be. Otherwise, it has the latest November security patch now and should get all the other updates.
Hi, I am in Ireland and got a PH-1 which was locked by Sprint but i contacted them and they told me they have unlocked it for me and i can use it in Ireland but i am actually not able to use it on any network here, it just says Invalid Sim every time i put the sim card in.

Invalid sim means that your phone is still locked to Sprint.
If your phone is unlocked then the UICC unlock will show this message:

If they have unlocked it, you still need to put a Sprint SIM in it and run the UICC unlock before you can put another SIM in it.

The way I understand it, you need to put a Sprint Sim in that has service activated on so it can connect to their Network to be unlocked. How you can do that overseas I'm not sure... You could buy service and have it sent to you, then you can connect through roaming. Sounds extremely tedious and expensive to do though...

Not sure if it confirms it or not. I asked essential, but they said it wasn't a big deal / not a problem.
I bought a oneplus 7 pro without paying much attention to the fine print. The phone apparently has an IMEI issue and it locked to T-mobile. I want to use it in UAE, is there any way I can unlock it and use it here. It has already been shipped and I can't cancel my order.
PS: Can I unlock my bootloader and install custom roms.
Dinner... You should be able to unlock the bootloader and root it, but it will remain Sim-locked to t-mobile. There are services online that will unlock it from the t-mobile network.

I think there might be a way actually. Haven't personally tried it, but many have said it works. It looks like on the the Android 10 Developer Preview 3, you can actually bypass the token, and unlock the bootloader! I'm not sure if the phone would still technically be SIM locked to T-Mobile (if you wanted to use another carrier), but honestly have no idea. But at least from what it sounds like you should be able to unlock the bootloader, and flash custom roms.
Check out these posts, and the main XDA article that has instructions:

You still need an unlock token from OnePlus to unlock the TMO model, even on global firmware. It takes about a week from request to processing. You can get around it by flashing the A10 DP3 OTA, and it won't check for the token.

Has anyone been able to get any information? I checked the Oneplus site and the tmobile phone has an unlock .bin page but no mention of sprint. Now, I know Sprint has merged with Tmobile so im not sure if this changes things..
Any thoughts/information?
I'm not 100% sure on this as I haven't confirmed it however, I did get the OnePlus 8 5g at their discounted deal due to the merger and can say without a doubt that it is a T-Mobile phone with T-Mobile branding on the box and in the phone the only thing that it is currently using is a Sprint SIM card. Therefore I would assume one of the many methods that are listed over on the T-Mobile side should work I will check into it tonight and get back to you with my findings. I can also say that all of my roaming issues that I was having at my house with my OnePlus 7 pro 5G have been corrected and resolved with just this phone alone. No need for an airrave or any other device to get internet at home. I'm not sure if you live in a 5-g city or not however they have not officially activated it where I live it just recently came on line a day or two ago and that is through T-Mobile's Network only and I'm actually able to pick that up now to. (Just not at home )

They are the same phone but you need a Sprint sim if you're using Sprint for your carrier. There is an 8 Pro but it's not available through any carrier in the US. You need to buy it from OP or Amazon. I don't think it'll work on Sprint as it's not an approved device. It will work on t-mobile This will all change after August when they begin merging customers.
Edit: The OP8 is the exact same phone, IN2017, on both networks.

Yes. I am fully rooted, xXx rom and smurf kernel
You need to network unlock (sim unlock) permanent in order to make available the toggle for OEM Unlocking in settings.
Once sim unlocked, enable oem unlocking in settings and get the unlock from phone and then from OnePlus.
After unlock_code.bin is provided from OnePlus you need to flash that via fastboot. This will wipe.
Then download latest stable twrp from mauricio (thread in xda OnePlus forums)
Only BOOT twrp. Backup boot partition. Install magisk manager app once phone fully reboots.
Patch boot.img backup you made using magisk manager app.
This creates the file "patched_magisk.img"
Move that to ADB folder.
Test patched boot by <fastboot boot patched_magisk.img>
If successful, open magisk manager and press Install Directly.
You will be rooted.

this is the first post in probably 5 years i hit the Thanks button for
can you please confirm if this is supposed to be the method for all carriers, or specific to certain region models, or excluding certain carriers?
i'm emerging from a 1000 year slumber after becoming satisfied with a previous phone, and finding it ridiculously difficult to find a new haven for rooted phones lol
Once you are rooted and unlocked, I'd suggest switching to the Global rom for future proofing the device.
I just did this last night and it was fairly painless.
There's a thread on switching to global. In that thread there is a reply to my post. That reply is a very concise guide to flashing over to global and updating to A11. Regaining root is also simple. Use Magisk Canary and download the stock boot image for global. Patch that stock boot using Magisk Canary.
Reboot to fastboot and flash patched_magisk.img to boot_a AND boot_b
Reboot.
Enjoy root and Magisk.
I also recommend flashing the xXx Magisk rom. Will re-enable VoWiFi and VoLTE for global rom!

5g works great after A11 update!
I just got an IN2017 model now and still trying to apply for a SIM unlock, do I need any services enabled for that process? Or can I disable/wipe out any crappy bloatware that my system has, and if so then what's safe to uninstall from sprint?

I"d leave it all for now. Once you unlock, i'd recommend switching to global rom anyway. It receives updates faster and modem is better than tmo. even without standalone 5g.
And when you do that, you'll eliminate most of the bloat.
Thinking of buying one of these and want to clarify the process of unlocking the bootloader. From the ebay seller he says it is a T-Mobile phone but is sim unlocked already. He says I will have to contact oneplus to get the bootloader unlock code/token. I don't really want to wait the forty days or whatever I heard it was but it's ok as long as I can definitely get it unlocked eventually and won't be stuck for some reason with a locked bootloader. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I've ran across two of your posts asking the same question. I had done the same thing as you. I bought an eBay sim unlocked op7p. At first I flashed the international firmware to just bypass the whole tmobile bootloader unlock. It worked in the sense that I was able to unlock the bootloader, however I had no service and the phone would not detect my sim (Cricket). I tried another sim with the same results. I had to use the msm tool and flash back to tmobile stock firmware in order for it to work with my sim.
I sent in my request for an unlock token and received it in 7 days. I think the 40 days is only for brand new phones. I would submit the unlock token request and go that route. YMMV, you may very well be able to flash the international software and just bypass it. I didn't have that luck. The 7 day wait wasn't so bad. Hope this helps.

I have not flashed back to international because I couldn't get the phone to detect my sim even after updating the international firmware.
I would however recommend that once you flash back to TMobile (using msm) that you do the OTA (settings>system>check for updates)
Currently I'm running unlocked and rooted via magisk. I'd like to flash a custom rom (looking at resurrection) but they say to flash the international rom to both slots first (via recovery like twrp) and I'm not sure if that would cause the sim issue again. I haven't had time to ask about it (if I can flash straight from tmo stock rooted to a custom rom like resurrection). So unfortunately I don't have the best answer there. You may ask around in some of the custom rom threads about just flashing straight from the TMobile stock firmware with unlocked bootloader. If you happen to find out an answer, please pm me and let me know.

Do i lose unlock after convercion
How do you back up the T-Mo modems without going thru the T-Mo bootloader token unlock? I want to try going back to the T-Mo modems to see if they resolve the issues, and then back them up when to reflash when I go back to the EU load.
Thanks!

But will it work without root?
I have partition manager.

Root is needed. Also, you have to be unlocked to flash any partitions to your device. A locked device doesn't allow flashing.

I'm not talking about flashing. Just backing up.
I was hoping to get temporary root with a Maoism boot image, back up the modems, and then convert back to European

You need root to back up critical partitions. Oh I see what you are trying to do now. Temp root to back up, convert and temp root again to flash.

Yeah, that's it. I guess I'll have to try it and see. If I still end up with problems, I'm going to have to figure out how to debloat it.

No dice. Won't boot to another image unless it's unlocked.
Waiting for the T-Mo token.

Yep. Any critical partition flashing has to be unlocked. There is no other way around it. I've bricked my 9,the one before this one,by flashing the wrong modem on it. Tried MSM and it locked it and I couldn't do anything else to it,meaning flashing anything through bootloader or fastbootd.

Well, I guess it ended up not mattering much in the end. At least for what I was trying to do.
I'm finding T-Mo's service to just be complete crap, and I've determined it's not the phone. I moved 8 lines over from AT&T. Half were BYOD (all unlocked AT&T Samsung devices, and my son's unlocked OP9), and the other half were Samsung and OP phones bought from T-Mo. Everyone's experiencing bad call quality and coverage issues. Both my family and in-laws live within a mile from known T-Mo towers where we live. I live in a major metro area, my in-laws in a rural area. My parents live in a medium sized city. It's gotten unbearable, and at times, my wife and I have had to resort to texting due to the call quality just being so bad. Cutting out, garbled, etc.
In-laws also have T-Mo's home internet and are having issues with that.
I don't get it despite everything good I've read about T-Mo. None of us had these issues with AT&T.
I'm going to try to work it out with T-Mo, but at least for the time being, I'll just go back to the European ROM. There's no difference in the call quality anyway, and at least there I have root again.
If i flash the T-mo firmware to a global model, will I be unable to unlock the bootloader simply with the adb command, or will I have to go through all the hoops as if I bought the phone directly from t-mobile?

Yes, but the phone has to be SIM unlocked first.
There is someone who can SIM unlock on here for free, with donations encouraged.

I'm gonna use the T-Mobile sim card on a global version of the phone. So theoretically the phone would already have been sim unlocked out of the box. What I'm asking is, if i choose to use the T-Mobile msm on the unlocked global model, will it carrier lock me in? If not that means all i have to do is go to developer options and use the unlock command, right?

No that won't happen to you. You should still be SIM unlocked as flashing software doesn't deal with SIM Locking but it May Lock the Bootloader that I am not Sure of

Who's currently doing sim unlocking? I'll gladly donate. I've unlocked my bootloader, flashed Magisk and have root access but I'm still sim locked to TMobile.
