Hello everyone
Here's my problem and my idea:
I bought T-Mobile Galaxy S7 on ebay about a week ago (Stock QC1 firmware) and now I'm in need of sim unlock, which I can't, my device's unlock fails every time through Device Unlock app
I've searched through the web past two days and found no solution whatsoever. Every service is down for now and I cannot find any ways to unlock my phone.
So, here's what I thought: Maybe here's someone who can actually develop or figure out a solution for this since many solutions are available for S6/S6e and many other t mobile phones, but not for S7.
I can be tester and provide any files/dumps if needed or anything you guys ask.
I believe I'm not the only one with this problem and if we try hard enough, we can do this. Many people can benefit from this also, so let's be useful.
To mods, if you believe this is a wrong place to post this thread, please move it where it belongs.
Thanks to you all.
So your idea is just to look at other device solutions? [emoji1]

I guess that's the part of it
Cheers
We probably wont see a direct unlock solution on these T-Mobile/MetroPCS QUALCOMM based Galaxys for some time. The older models you mentioned are Exynos based CPUs, they are being unlocked all the time. Unlock app or trusted server for imei unlock is our only solutions for now.

I stand with you. I think a bounty would be appropriate. I go loads of s7 and s7 edge to unlock. I may be at a huge loss if no unlock comes

I believe of we have alot of people working toward it something interesting would come out if it. Considering s8 is also there, more people Wil be requiring unlock. It's only a matter of time
Factory reset your phone, then try to use the device unlock. You can select temporary unlock or permanent unlock. Once you are done you will have a sim unlocked device.

Actually, MetroPCS s7 & s7e device unlock is available for $20 and Qualcomm S6 and below is also unlockable, there are many remote unlock services on ebay/various websites for those devices.
I've been* trying to unlock my S7 since April but no luck.
I know this issues with t-mobile Quallcomm Galaxys are about locked bootloader but that's the only thing I found out.
If someone can make bounty pool or something similar, I would gladly participate.

Yup. I'm on android 7.0. I could go back to 6.0.1 too. Why do you think this is a method to unlock? You need to connect to Tmobile database to unlock. Merely factory reset won't do anything. It's all in the cloud

I know, however when I had issues with the device unlock app a fresh install of the latest version worked and I was able to temporarily unlock for a month.
I did it just now after a factory reset, rooted and running no BS Rom...
T-mobile
I went through the same ordeal. I had to actually call t-mobile and get a representative to unlock it using the phone's IMEI number so it could be used on all carriers. Call them, I'm sure they will unlock it for you. That t-mobile unlock app doesn't do anything. Also under developer options, you need to check OEM unlock before you call t-mobile.
-Just my two cents, Bob

My device asks for active cellular connection in order to get temporary unlock, but I can't get carrier signal since phone is locked.... are you T-Mobile customer and were you using their sim card? I am not.

Called them maybe 10 times, even used their facebook page. Every single customer representative said phone is fully paid and nothing is blocking it but they can't help me because I'm not actual / original phone owner on their database, and person I purchased this phone from has no idea what unlock is, he's impossible to deal with. Maybe you have any tips for me?
Thank you everybody for taking your time and helping us.
Just a quick update, I just flashed latest G930U firmware and after SIM card insertion, phone asks for unlock code, which of course I have no idea what it is

I think you and @boobteg have a paid off devices eligible for unlock. What you need to know ow is that the device unlock app doesn't work on custom roms. It requires a stock rom. There are some of us who are not eligible for unlock.
Any progress?

^This. You need to sim unlock before converting to international, or you will be unable to unlock the bootloader and have OEM unlocking. At least until they fix the MSM to be able to skip sim unlocking.

Yes, you can try it that way. If the device is already fully paid off you can also simply contact Tmobile and they will be able to sim unlock it for you already as well, or if you haven't paid off and want to chance it, you can try contacting them on twitter or through the tmobile app and try to get the customer service rep to unlock it. Though if you haven't paid it off it's probably easier and faster to DM the OP from that thread.

I have the international version and am also stuck with the greyed out OEM Unlocking option. My bootloader is also still locked. Any help would be very much appreciated. I have tried using fastboot to oem unlock but I get this error
FAILED (remote: Please enable OEM unlocking in developer options first)
finished. total time: 0.007s
It was on a Chinese ROM before and I did use https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/Fulldowngrade_wipe_18821_190425_0253_user_fix_revision_MP_release.zip to downgrade so I could switch to the English ROM.
I also have a one plus 7 pro. It has been carrier unlocked but still the OEM unlock is greyed out. It is running Android 10. Is there a way to 'ungrey' the OEM unlock option? Thx
Do a search for this "The T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro’s bootloader can be unlocked by flashing Android Q" and fallow the instructions. Instruction are on xda.
There is no need to unlock the sim on the T-Mobile phone to unlock the bootloader.
Phone needs to be on the international firmware. This can be done with the patched msm tool. Then downgrade to android development preview 3 using local upgrade on phone. Unlock via fastboot and finally root and install a working rom or do the rollback to android p via local upgrade. Search for the guide and fallow the instructions. It really simple.
Kind of related. I converted my t mobile oneplus 7 pro to the international version and am eligible for a sim unlock. I tried to do it over chat but they said since it's not their version of android I would have to do a factory reset (which wouldn't convert it back to t-mobile stock) in order to sim unlock it, does anyone know how to sim unlock it on the international version with t-mobiles help. I would have thought t-mobile could just do it on their end but I guess not, and I guess they are kind of idiots over there to, because initially they had no idea what i meant when i said i converted it to the international version (heck they still didn't understand that I changed the firmware/ROM) so resetting it wouldn't make it a t-mobile phone again.

Yes. The bootloader can be unlocked, device can be rooted and custom ROMS can be flashed.
You need to get your sim unlocked. From there you can boot loader unlock...
Here are the exact steps to your question: https://support.oneplus.com/app/ans...-to-unlock-bootloader-for-oneplus-smart-phone
I think its going to be pretty much the same as the OnePlus 6 and 7 on T-Mo. I had the 6T. I wrote a guide for unlocking and getting around boot loader. Not my work, just compiled everyone elses work in a central location. But yeah, here are the steps to unlock, convert, and go back to stock for T-Mobile 6T: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/guide-sim-bootloader-unlock-root-t3921795
Based off other peoples posts, I think the 8 will be the exact same steps. I just need to get my SIM card unlocked. Once I do I go bootloader unlock then custom ROM.

I'm going to chime in here in regards to the unlock code process.
It took exactly one week to receive an email from oneplus.com. don't bother calling t-mobile for help on this because they have zero access to those unlock codes.
In addition, you will need to do a sim unlock. mobbdepp is the person who can do this for you. He has an OP devoted and dedicated to the sim unlock process, guidelines and whatnot. He helped me get my sim unlock for my oneplus 8.
Now, I'm going to step back and wait until you receive your unlock code from oneplus first.
I and the XDA community are here to assist you! :good:

I'm fairly comfortable with fastboot. I've rooted and unlocked bootloaders on devices before, just not in a while. I have the MSM unbrick tool for the Tmobile Version of the OP8 and I've already used it a couple times. I'm pretty comfortable. Device is on 10.5.7.IN55CB.
My sole reason for rooting is to fix the fingerprint scanner from relocking the bootloader after realizing a lot of my apps wouldn't work.

Now that you mention the fingerprint scanner, have you/did you make a backup of your persist.img? NOTE: From what I've gathered, persist.img are unique to each phone and cannot be shared. If you didn't, your persist.img must be lost forever. Again, this is from what I gathered through these forums and posts.
Hello,
I'm seeing quite a few different "methods" or instructions for rooting. I just picked up my Oneplus 8 today with T-Mobile, it's on a payment plan if that matters for SIM unlock, etc.
What's the easiest method to rooting the device? I use Adguard and want it to run using the "root" method which is better, per their support (which is why I bought this phone). My current build (which reports up to date) is 10.5.10.IN55CB
Thanks to all in advance
P.S. Any negative effects? I'm reading mixed reports of loss of LTE/Wifi.
You can only root after sim unlocking the device. After that you would apply for an unlock token from OnePlus, and after a week you'll be able to unlock the bootloader (which will wipe your data) and then you will be able to proceed with any of the root guides posted here.
There is a sim unlock thread in the guides section here, though the person offering the free service is heavily backlogged at the moment. You may have better luck asking TMobile on Twitter for a permanent unlock, though they are very stubborn.
Once your device has been permanently unlocked, you would toggle unlock bootloader in developer options, enter fastboot and enter a command (follow the OnePlus unlock bootloader guide somewhere on Google for this)

TMobile will officially unlock it after paying it off in full (and I think be on the network for x number of days) but there have been cases where they have unlocked the device prior to it being paid off, ultimately it depends on the representative you speak to
