25W charging with 3rd party charger? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

I know a lot of discussions are going on around the custom nature of the 45W charger, but has anyone noticed that the 25W charging is also custom? From what I can find there is no 25W profile in the PD spec, and the phone/charger uses 12V, 2.1A for achieving 25W charging and any PD charger will only charge at either 18W or 15W?
Am I missing something?

Yes it is custom and here is the test I did today. I will do the same for the 45W when that comes out (ordered it a while ago)...View attachment 4810060

I'm curious to see this same test done with a standard PD charger.

Mind if I ask, as i'm not really into this.
Does it 'damage' anything, if using 2.1A, as I already have such a charger?

I have a Maxboost car charger that I bought from Amazon (US). And it has two USB ports. One 2.0 amps and the second is 2.4 amps. I've used both on my iPhone 6 and Note 4 without any issues.

It's not like the charger "pushes" current into your phone, but rather how much current the charger is able to provide if a device tries to "pull" that amount of energy from the charger. A charger rated at wrong(to high) voltage will on the other hand damage your device.

So shortly, Amp doesn't matter, but Voltage do?
Voltage should be 5, right?
Choetech makes a 4 port CLA. Works great on my GS6.

5V 3A Charger?

Currently I am using both N6P and M8.
N6P supports 5V/3A but no QC2, and M8 supports QC2.
I don't want to carry 2 chargers all the time, so I did little bit search and found this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0122P71FC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
It seems to be a good one, with 5V 3A, 9V 1.67A, 12V 1.2A, so now I guess I can use it with Zaptip.
Anything similar to that?

On 5V 3A?
If that's what it's actually outputting then the nexus doesn't see it that way. I suppose it may be my cables. I don't have a USB-C to A adapter to try the C to C cable that came with the phone.
FYI I have this charger and it registers as fast charging with my Nexus 6p:

Can't say for sure if it charges exactly the same power/speed as the stock charger, but did notice it was definitely charging very fast..

Possibly but it did say rapid charging and it did charge plenty fast to me.
Honestly the stock charger doesn't seem very fast to me
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
When I plugged in my 6P's 5V/3A charger at 19% it said it would take 1 hour to charge. When I tried my iPad brick(5.2V/2.4A) and a USB C to USB A I got from amazon and it said it would take 1 hour to charge from 18%. Both said charging rapidly. It seems as long as the wall adapter puts out 5V and 2A or more it should charge rapidly, regardless of the wall adapter being USB A or C.
This charger situation is a nightmare. But....
I bought one of these awhile ago for $12 on sale, and I didn't expect for it to quick charge the Nexus 6p, but it does seem to register as quick charging.

The charger listed in the first post will register as quick charging when using a USB 3.1 certified A to C cable.

Wall charger

So I'm looking to buy the K20 Pro from Aliexpress. I'm aware that the phone is going to come with a European wall charger, I plan to buy a couple of Xiaomi 20W wireless chargers that come with a cable and no wall plug. Can anyone advise what UK wall charger will fast charge the phone and run the fast charging wireless pads? Thanks.

Wireless charging
Well, I double checked the spec's on Aliexpress and it does say wireless charging:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Glo...528.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2c854c4dtlxg5S
So either there are a couple of variants of this phone or (much more likely) the description is wrong.

The pd port delivers 30W max, so should charge the phone at 27W.

Thank you. I saw 2 port charger from BaseUs (which is a solid brand on AliExpress). I think I will order that one.
Regarding this Xiaomi single port 27W charger. I don't know... The reviews for it aren't that good on AliExpress. Even in description it says Quick Charge 3.0 and output of 5V/3A which is like 15W

If you look on the photos on the Xiaomi charger description, there's a clear photo of the specs printed on the charger, which show that it goes to 27W. Whether that's what is delivered is a different matter.
I looked at the BaseUs chargers, knowing they are a more reputable brand on AliExpress, but thought I'd go with the gamble of the cheaper brand, as it had decent reviews.

yeah that seems like a decent charger don't forget you have to use the USB C port to get the QC 4.0 27w speed, the other USB port only does quick charge 3.0, also don't select the dual USB port one either as both only do QC 3.0.
i wanted an AU plug so i ordered this one BlitzWolf BW-S12 27W QC4+ , will report back once i get it.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494610 , good price with the discount code, but the code will only work if you order from desktop browser.
only issue now is i guess i need a USB C to USB C 5A cable, as the cable that comes with the original charger in the box with phone is just standard USB to USB C, i do have an OTA adapter to usb C though so i might just try the cable i already have with adapter before i rush out to buy another cable.

How to get Turbo-Charging with other Chargers ?

Hi,
Is it possible to get the Turbo-Charging (30W) With other PD Chargers?
I got a 30W Blitzwolf charger (20V1.5A) with PD3.0 protocol, a 60W usbc to usbc cable,
and I only get 18W "Fast charging" in the phone. Where's the problem?
This phone is 10V3A. 30W may not compatible with pd.
as writen on gsmareana (SEE PIC) the mi note 10 uses the usb PD standard.
https://ibb.co/k5fp9tk
So why isn't PD chargers working at full speed ??
Also,
Where Can I buy the original Charger and Cable?
Again, PD's 30W is 20V1.5A, but Xiaomi's 30W is 10V3A. They are not fully compatible.
I guess PD support is limited to 18W or 27W.
Does anyone know if Xiaomi has a car charger that is 30W 10V3a?

Yah, you're right ... (I'm getting 18W MAX)
Weird thing is I can't find the original charger anywhere online !
I checked the original and PD charger. Original gives you 20 watts and PD 17 watts, so the difference is quite marginal. Interesting enough the only difference is amps, they both give out around 9 Volts but from PD it only draws 1,9 A even though it can give 3A (mine is rated 20V/3A). Also most USB PD chargers out there support 5-20V output with stepless adjustment but I don't think they take advantage of that.
I would have pictures to attach but for some reason can't on this forum.
so any way to get that 30, or at least 27W charging?
like even buying a new charger
or maybe flashing a custrom ROM/kernel?

Bet it would be possible but requires action from xiaomi or at least custom rom at the moment. I don't get why they advertise it falsely. It would be even possible to get more from USB PD as they don't draw the same power as from their own charger, even though it would be completely possible by the specifications.

I suppose you could look for reviews or discussions on those particular adapters or search for detailed specifications. Or search Amazon or generally for adapters with keywords PD 3.0 and PPS. Most modern power adapters usually specifically point out PPS support in their specs.

The links above do not include any information whether these chargers support pps, although they are good gadgets.
I have had issues with trying to find a 45watt charger which will charge the S22u at the Super Fast Charge 2.0 rate. I probably ordered 5 different chargers and none of them would work @45 watts even though they supported the PD 3.0 PPS standard. When I contacted one company support team they said Samsung tweaked the PPS standard for the S22u.
As it turned out, I had an Elecjet 65w charger that charges my S22u at the 45w Super Fast Charge 2.0 rate. While they no longer sell that charger, they have a newer 45w version that does support the S22u (several Amazon reviews confirmed this).

Anything from aukey, ugreen, ravpower rated for PD 3.0 and Super Fast should be fine. Samsung has a conservative charging system compared to the Chinese brand phones from Hauwei, Xiaomi, and Realme.

The reality is a 100% fully supported charging brick and cable will only get you a < 10 min decrease in charging from 0 - 100%. With most of the speed gains in the 0 - 50% time being reduce by like 6 minutes and then being pretty much negligible after, as the phone throttles to protect the battery from overheating.
To get everything you probably would need to go with the Baseus.
https://a.co/d/17Oxq7U
and
https://a.co/d/7OIbSPf
or get the most purchesd (implying some reliability) 100w PD 3.0 charger and use the cables you have and get 90% the same results with Superfast Charge vs Superfast Charge 2.0
