Mind if I ask, as i'm not really into this.
Does it 'damage' anything, if using 2.1A, as I already have such a charger?

I have a Maxboost car charger that I bought from Amazon (US). And it has two USB ports. One 2.0 amps and the second is 2.4 amps. I've used both on my iPhone 6 and Note 4 without any issues.

It's not like the charger "pushes" current into your phone, but rather how much current the charger is able to provide if a device tries to "pull" that amount of energy from the charger. A charger rated at wrong(to high) voltage will on the other hand damage your device.

So shortly, Amp doesn't matter, but Voltage do?
Voltage should be 5, right?

Choetech makes a 4 port CLA. Works great on my GS6.
I can't post links yet but if you are Jedi material you can figure it out.

Car charger 650mA

sorry for English not perfect. I am translating with google.
I have a car charger that marks OUTPUT 5V --- 650mA (max)
if i use this charger with the nexus one I run the risk of ruining the battery?
Or can I use it safely?
I think you will be alright in terms of damage, but you may want to look at a 1a charger or like a 900ma charger so that when you are using the GPS and all of that it can continue to charge instead of not being able to keep up with the draw from the device(what I am thinking will happen with the power output from the charger you mentioned.
I can try and better explain if I was too confusing, hope this helps

Where have you guys been able to find an adequate charger for GPS and normal phone use? Ive had trouble with this.
manual, in specification, is written:
Charges at 480mA from USB, at 980mA from supplied charger
What does this mean?
So my 680mA working? or not?
It will charge. Just slowly. And if you are using gps or streaming audio it may not keep up.

Hope it works better than the Belkin "Quick Charge" USB car charger my wife has for her iPhone, I don't get a quick charge on it on my Nexus One. Middle pins aren't shorted I presume.

Anyone know if there are any devices like this that has 900mA output (or know what output the linked one has)? Seems that's the minimum needed to charge the Charge via USB. My current one rated at 700mA does nothing when plugged in the Charge.
My friend has one something like this and I was using it for my Charge and it worked fairly well. I am not sure if it is the same one but they look the same size, I just used the usb that came with the charge to plug into it and it worked. It also works well with his iphone 4 if that helps at all.

IDK....I'll find out I guess...I ordered it.
I just ordered 2 off of eBay. Will see how they work.

I ordered this one, if it doesn't work or isn't small enough I will prob try the $2 one from eBay. Thanks for all the suggestions.
I bought a dual usb car charger (it has 2 usb ports) that says its for ipads or tablets, and supplies 2A. It does seem to charge faster than my other car chargers, but I think it also triggers USB mass storage mode, because apps stored on the SD card aren't usable when its plugged into this. Is this because of the USB cable i'm using (a generic USB to micro usb cable)? or is it because of the charger?
this is the charger - although Amazon's pictures don't exactly match - the one customer supplied picture does, though.

I'm not interested in the usb plug kind. I'm looking for wall and car chargers that aren't usb and just charge (hope that makes sense).
Thanks.

car chargers

I know this is a bad subject to bring into discussion but notice the S4 charger for the wall charger charges faster I bought a generic car charger for my last phone and it couldn't even keep up with the charge if I was using the GPS...... Any idea what a good car charger brand is or even Samsung makes for for the S4? I really would like a nice car charger that won't screw things up with my phone thanks all if you can just put your input if not thats ok too...
i bought this http://www.amazon.co.uk/MOFREDĀ®-Mic...sr=1-1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+s4+car+charger should be good
The Motorola with the blue light, pn SPN5400A.
I am also looking for a car charger that quickly charges the battery like the stock wall charger. I went from 1% to 50% in around 45 minutes with the stock wall charger the other day.

get at least a 2 amp charger @ OP
I agree 2Amp tends to be the way to go from what im learning but still looking for a great car charger lol
Is there a way within the UI to see how much charge the phone is getting? I have a generic USB car charger and I want to know if it's .5, 1, or 2 amps.
Generally I'm happy if I can use Google Maps navigation on a charger without losing any battery % but it would still be nice to know if I'm getting the fastest charge possible.

Generic car chargers, usually offers 700mah or 1000mah for the most.
It seems that getting 2000mah charger is the only good solution.

I have the same one. Works great.
Just keep in mind battery monitor widget does a best guess calculation on Samsung devices because Sammy refuses to put the code in that reports the actual current. Back on GB on my Captivate one of the roms had the code and it was nice but Samsung in its infinite wisdom deems it more important to include 500MB of bloat and omit this tiny important driver.

Can someone recommend a car charger that I can buy in the UK that can charge the S4 reliably at 2A? I tried a few so-called 2A chargers, but they are only able to deliver 1.1A (as measured by the Galaxy Current App), while the wall charger delivers 1.9A.

Pleomax is apparently a subsidiary company of Samsung, so I'm expecting compatibility/functionality to be good.
I ordered the following holder to go with it too, from the same manufacturer and seller, its currently in the same shipment as the charger:

Just to point out.... While you do need a 2A+ charger, the cable also plays a huge factor. I've measured anywhere from 460mA to 1900mA depending on the cable plugged into it.

Rapid Charger Recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a rapid wall (not car) charger? I got the one directly from Verizon but I'm hoping there's a good one that'd work for this phone that I could get from Amazon for cheaper.
Any recommendations?

The standard one it probably the fastest, and the charging current is limited by the phone, and not the charger. Even the standard charger at 2A, the phones does not charger using the full 2A.

I don't know about that - I see a huge difference using the rapid charger. With it, I can charge my near dead S5 in like an hour and a half to a full charge.
I get around that figure with the supplied charger.
I get the same results with the stock charger.. Why is there need for a "rapid charger" when the one that came in the box works just fine?

[Q] sm-p905 Charging with non genuine charger

Gday All,
I realise that this topic has been mentioned in a few threads, but from what I could find, there is no definiteve fix.
Is there a way to disable this so that a non-genuine charger will work once the screen turns off, or if I was to root the device, is there then a way to do it.
Please dont flame me, I'm a total newb to android, and I dont mind admitting that.
Bit dissapointed that Samsung has sunk to this.
TIA!
Not sure what issues you are having but I have been using a few different chargers without issue. Which exact charging method are you trying to use (cable type, charger type, charger rated output voltage and amperage)?
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
The problem isn't that the charger is 3rd party.
The problem is that the device requires a 5.1V 2A charger or higher.
Anything lower than that is simply not powerful enough. You can find these specs in small lettering on the charger. Most cheap 3rd party launchers are 5V 1A.

I was one of the ones having problems with it needing to have the screen on to charge. It was a problem with the charger (yes, it was marked as a high amperage charger), changed to a different one (Anker 40W 5 port) and it's working fine.

Huge second on the Anker. I love that charger by the way. With various devices I would get irritated with some refusing to charge on certain chargers (my BlackBerry Bold in particular). I've since switched to the Anker 5 port 40 Watt and no longer worry about which cable I'm reaching for. Every device gets the power it needs with no fuss.

This seems logical, but it does work when i use the genuine charger from my sgs3 which is a 5vdc 1a charger. Takes all night to charge, but charges non the less.

That's because the retention rate of the S3's charger is higher than that of a generic cheap 3rd party one. Where the S3 charger actually delivers 0.8-1A, the cheaper ones usually average around 0.5A.
This is why charging over a usb 2.0 port without any power boosts also (usually, there have been some exceptions) doesn't work.
I usually charge mine with my Note 3 or S5 charger, as the three are all the same charger.
