Downgrading U5 to U2 or U1 on G930F - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I have a galaxy s7 SM-G930F which is currently on U5 Oreo Firmware, i wanted to downgrade it to Nougat U2, tried flashing it with Odin 3.13.1 , the flash failed and i ran into an SW REV error (Device:5, Binary:2), tried several fixed but no solution .
i have 3 questions:
1. is it even possible to downgrade from U5 to U2 (i assume the answer is no but i need confirmation)
2. is it possible to install a custom rom with TWRP that is based on U2 (if yes - how, if not - why)
3.when flashing stock firmware i read that the bootloader version of the firmware must match the current bootloader version, how do i check my current bootloader version and the downloaded firmware bootloader version?

1. No it is not, once a bootloader is updated it cannot be downgraded
2. No not anymore since S6 because boot files reside on the EFS partition which is not altered when new firmware is flashed. The boot program is written to only allow upgrades to it, never downgrades (thats the easiest way to explain it.) The primary reason for firmware and thus bootloader upgrades is due to security vulnerabilities.
3. It only has to match or be higher. Within the firmware itself the bootloader version is represented by either the letter U or S, for example G930FXXU5ESD2. = U5, firmware is on bootloader version 5. It could have read S5, it would mean the same thing.
In the settings of your phone, tap >about phone>software infomation>baseband version G930FXX......

Odin flash failed, device 3, binary 2. Help needed!

Hi,
I have a G920F, I was rooted and want to go to stock again. I have restored the device with Smart Switch, but now I am unable to flash any other rom. I have downloaded 3 different roms from Sammobile and get sw. check failed device 3 binary 2 at everyone. The current rom is form Italy Wind the latest OI9. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, probably you trying to install oldest firmware 5.0.1, download the latest firmware and try again. You are with 5.1, right? This error on odin happens, because you cannot downgrade the firmware. Hope this helps.
I think you can not downgrade even if it is the same Android version.
If it detects you are on a newer bootloader it will give you that error.
What I belive you can do is to extract the bootloader (sboot) and modem from the .tar file and flash ONLY the system through Odin.
Don't know exactly how to do that because I haven't done it but I think that would do; you will have to search and read my friend.
You will have the stock firmware but with latest bootloader and modem.
Hope this helps.
Note: As far as I know this will work if its the same Andorid version; you can not have Android 5.0.2 with 5.1.1 bootloader.

Hi,
I have tried what you said, but no succes. The firmware was already recovered with smart switch so the bootloader is the latest.

But did you try to flash without the bootloader and modem?

unable to flash

hi
I have 5.0.2 firmware now, but the main problem is hot spot not working and even I can't use "shareit" app.
I want to flash 5.1.1 firmware on my phone
my phone is factory unlocked (knox warranty void: 1 (0x0000))
but after 1 sec the process fails.
I cant attach it's photo. I don't know how to attach image in XDA.
It has been rooted easily
but the twrp recovery touch didn't work and I installed sprint version and problem solved.
If I flash the wrong firmware it will not be flashed or flash will complete and the phone won't work?
because I didn't know to flash 920v or 920r4. and finally I choosed the 920v
my phone build info is: ( I used "root checker" for this information)

Try to install the firmware for the G920V with different versions of Odin, starting from the latest.

Modem needs to be downgraded for ZX3 unlock box to unlock s7 phones or 6.1 OS
Hello I was just wondering when i go to unlock a new security Samsung running 6.01 or higher
I always encounter error saying try to downgrade modem if possible
I know how to flash phone to downgrade OS to 5.1
But problem is most of these flash files for newer phones do not have flash files for downgrading to 5.1
My question is i read somewhere you can just temporarily downgrade your modem only
Where can i get these downgraded modem files and are they different then full flash 5.1

Galaxy S7 G930F - DBT / Downgrade from Android 7.0 to Android 6.0.1 possible ?

Hello,
Is it possible to downgrade from Nougat back to Marshmellow without triggering Knox ?
I upgraded my S7 via OTA Update. Now i have big trouble with the GPS indoors while playing Pokemon Go. The location via wifi seems messed up in 7.0. On 6.0.1 i never had problems.
Can i just flash the latest 6.0.1 (G930FDBT1BPH2) via Odin ? Or can there be a problem with the Bootloader which could be upgraded during the 7.0 Update ?
Does this procedure trigger Knox ? I want to keep the phone on Stock Firmware without rooting oder custom Firmware.
I downloaded the 6.0.1 from updateo with the following files :
AP_G930FXXU1BPLB_CL9689434_QB11912457_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
BL_G930FXXU1BPLB_CL9689434_QB11912457_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CP_G930FXXU1BPJJ_CL9519568_QB11350220_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC_DBT_G930FDBT1BPH2_CL8887037_QB10698583_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
HOME_CSC_DBT_G930FDBT1BPH2_CL8887037_QB10698583_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Can i just fire up Odin and put these files according the first letters in the fields ?
Greetings,
Chris
Yea just flash with ODIN
CSC = Reset (You'll need to choose this one to downgrade as 7.0 apps are not compatible with 6.0)
HOME_CSC = No reset
Only flashing custom will trip knox, flashing stock with ODIN will not trip it

Thank you
Just for my safety
I need the first 4 files. Put em into the 4 fields in Odin 3.11.1 including BL - Bootloader (This part ist the most fear for me ) and flash them with "F-Reset Time" and "Auto Reboot" selected ?
After rebooting the phone a Full wipe is a good thing, i think.

Use ODIN 3.12.3 or newer, that version is too old
3.12.7
Code:
https://mega.nz/#!jUgRiTSa!fnAVwr7yFi4dlPk4V0oQ5DuoFe3iiG0jH-ws91IHOPc
Flash AP, BL, CP and CSC
The phone will automatically factory reset after the flash so no need to wipe again
DO NOT change anything in ODIN, leave everything as it is

Thank you for your Help. I´ll do it exact this way
Hello I am very new to this and like to know if i can downgrade too from android 7 if there is a security path already applied to the phone? Can I also just flash it with Odin stock rom?
Do I need the exact build number or just model number? And does model number needs to be the same so I got SM g930v? Can I flash from different country that is not G930V but G930F
And would the PDA number also need to match? Thanks for helping!

You cannot flash a G930F firmware on a G930V device. They have different hardware. You need to flash G930V firmware

The USA variants use a qualcomm chipper, the G930F (international model) uses an exynos chipper. You will end up bricking it by trying to flash incompatible firmware

Are any custom rom available for this device? Or at least I can installa another offiial rom with less blootware?
Read to remove these bloatwares
: https://us.norton.com/blog/online-scams/bloatware#
There is no custom rom for you device to date. Please, read the post above.
The problem is that you are using an old firmware. Your phone is up-to-date. I think the only solution is to unistall the bloatwares.
