Galaxy S7 G930F - DBT / Downgrade from Android 7.0 to Android 6.0.1 possible ? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello,
Is it possible to downgrade from Nougat back to Marshmellow without triggering Knox ?
I upgraded my S7 via OTA Update. Now i have big trouble with the GPS indoors while playing Pokemon Go. The location via wifi seems messed up in 7.0. On 6.0.1 i never had problems.
Can i just flash the latest 6.0.1 (G930FDBT1BPH2) via Odin ? Or can there be a problem with the Bootloader which could be upgraded during the 7.0 Update ?
Does this procedure trigger Knox ? I want to keep the phone on Stock Firmware without rooting oder custom Firmware.
I downloaded the 6.0.1 from updateo with the following files :
AP_G930FXXU1BPLB_CL9689434_QB11912457_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
BL_G930FXXU1BPLB_CL9689434_QB11912457_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CP_G930FXXU1BPJJ_CL9519568_QB11350220_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC_DBT_G930FDBT1BPH2_CL8887037_QB10698583_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
HOME_CSC_DBT_G930FDBT1BPH2_CL8887037_QB10698583_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Can i just fire up Odin and put these files according the first letters in the fields ?
Greetings,
Chris

Yea just flash with ODIN
CSC = Reset (You'll need to choose this one to downgrade as 7.0 apps are not compatible with 6.0)
HOME_CSC = No reset
Only flashing custom will trip knox, flashing stock with ODIN will not trip it

Thank you
Just for my safety
I need the first 4 files. Put em into the 4 fields in Odin 3.11.1 including BL - Bootloader (This part ist the most fear for me ) and flash them with "F-Reset Time" and "Auto Reboot" selected ?
After rebooting the phone a Full wipe is a good thing, i think.

Use ODIN 3.12.3 or newer, that version is too old
3.12.7
Code:
https://mega.nz/#!jUgRiTSa!fnAVwr7yFi4dlPk4V0oQ5DuoFe3iiG0jH-ws91IHOPc
Flash AP, BL, CP and CSC
The phone will automatically factory reset after the flash so no need to wipe again
DO NOT change anything in ODIN, leave everything as it is

Thank you for your Help. I´ll do it exact this way

Hello I am very new to this and like to know if i can downgrade too from android 7 if there is a security path already applied to the phone? Can I also just flash it with Odin stock rom?
Do I need the exact build number or just model number? And does model number needs to be the same so I got SM g930v? Can I flash from different country that is not G930V but G930F
And would the PDA number also need to match? Thanks for helping!

You cannot flash a G930F firmware on a G930V device. They have different hardware. You need to flash G930V firmware

2. I will need to flash the same model number to root it? And not a different model number?
Thanks!

And with Flashing using ODIN do I only need the model number and nothing else?

The USA variants use a qualcomm chipper, the G930F (international model) uses an exynos chipper. You will end up bricking it by trying to flash incompatible firmware

You don't need to be rooted. And I don't think knox will be tripped since you aren't flashing anything that's been modified, only flashing unsigned/modified images via Odin trips knox. But since you are flazing a signed modem you should be fine.

Hi,
Thanks for the guide. Very helpfull. I have a few Noob questions...
1. Do I have to do a full wipe/ cleam install after updating modem, or will the OS remain intact?
2. Where can I find the latest modem for N9005?
3. Is the latest modem always the best, or should I only update if I'm currently experiencing problems with the 'old' modem
Thanks...

1. No need. Just follow the guide, nothing more..
2. Check the modem thread that's in the general section, if you can't find it there then you may have to pull it from the stock FW. Also some roms devs have the modem in their OTA/OP so may wanna check there as well.
3. New isn't always better. Update if you have issues, if something isn't broken then there is no need to fix it.

If I use a modem from an other rom, will I have LTE as well and still have my Knox intact?
Thanks a lot guys

Are you Flashing the Full Firmware to update the bootloader?
Are you Flashing the Correct Firmware for your Carrier and Device?
Your Device is in Download Mode?
USB Debugging is enabled?
You Have the Samsung Drivers installed on your pc?
If the answers to the above is Yes - Try a different USB cable and Port on your pc

[Q] How to change CSC to branded 920F

Hi, first flashed french 5.1.1 and now that vodafone has released the branded 5.1.1 want to back to stock (ATL) but when flash the sammobile package the csc changes to SIM (vodafone slovenia) and there´s no way to change the csc.
I´ve reading a lot and seems the ATL package is multicsc and flashing defaults to SIM. and there´s no possibility to change csc because cant root 5.1.1
Im totally stuck. Why want the branded? the operator customization and VoLTE activation.
Thanks to all
Do a factory reset in the bootloader, boot up and then flash the operator rom again
*#272*IMEI#
Tried flashing, boot, wipeall twice, flashing wipe data and cache but the multicsc stays as SIM csc...
*#272.... doesnt work in this devices.
tried to downgrade to 5.0.2 and root to change manually csc but the bootloader is upgraded keeping downgrades.
the only hope is pingpongroot or anyone can root 5.1.1 without tripping knox
Bring your S6 back to Samsung for official ROM flashing back to stock.

Yes it is True. Please read the 1st post. OT described his problem as flashing the French 5.1.1 from his previous 5.0.2 ROM. When the 5.1.1 version of his country came and he flashed back using the ROM from Sammobile his CSC was changed. I encountered this same problem. My S6 is unrooted. Only way to change CSC on unrooted device is to root. I tried the methods above and did not work also.

Did you let the phone boot completely after flashing the new firmware and then do the wipe from recovery?
Yes I did. My unit is G920FD from Philippines. Downloaded 5.1.1 Globe Philippines (CSC:GLB) from Sammobile. After successful flash via odin with Full wipe at recovery the CSC defaulted to THL (Thailand). I tried all Phillipine-based 5.1.1 ROMs from Sammobile and flashed them all (3) with full wipe at recovery each time but sadly still CSC is still THL (Thailand).

You could try without a simcard (flash, boot up, wipe in recovery) or a different simcard. I never manage to change csc either in 1 go and the results can be different, eg sometimes I get Vodafone apps installed and sometimes not....
Will try it without a SIM card. Thanks.

I have had managed the csc change also with odin, fw flashing. BUt it took at least 10 flashing, but did it.
please note, that I have had issues after ANY of XEF firmware flasing. After XEF fw, I was very difficult to do this odin flashing method succesfully. BUT it did.
but I cannot rememe what was the sequence of this procedure. I was using 5-6 different ZIPs from sammobile.

i have flashed the XEF. and that was wrong. esspecially it broke the spo2, and stress measuring... I would go back to another, BUT after XEF, I always had flashing interrupt in the HIDDEN file stage.
But after I have found a flashable FW again ( maybe SER or SEB) I was able to flash XEH, or BTU. and it was changing the XEF to SEB OR SER after wipe in recovery.
The only rom I will never flash againt is XEF.
ps: i never root this 920F

Now I was able to reproduce it twice!!! :
How it works : on devices where dialer NOT shown up CSC changer (e.g.: GS6920F) :
Go to recovery, Dial up, Home + Power
wipe cache and perform a factory reset
next is important : power down the phone. NOT to reboot.
Power on in download mode: volume down+home+power buttons
FLASH for example : BTU :
G920FXXU3COI9_G920FBTU3COJ1_G920FXXU3COI9_HOME.tar
after reboot, it will be English, and If U go to recovery it will apply BTU.
Hope it helps
p.s.: It wont works with EVERY Firmware. don't know WHY. For example :
I wanted to flash after succesfully changed the CSC from TPH to BTU, so I wanted to flash XEH....BUT that resets to TPH after XEH flash.
So at least to BTU it works specially if you are in TPH CSC !

Flashing only AP File

Hi guys
i got S7 930FD XSG,
Rooted using this Method [Recovery][Exynos] Official TWRP for Galaxy S7 (herolte)
Somehow mistakenly Turned off OEM
Device locked, Reinstalled Stock ROM using "Smart Switch"
Again rooted by above method.
Now OTA updates aren't available.
So I have two question, actually one confusion and one question.
As when i reinstalled ROM using Smart Switch, in Smart Switch it says "930F" instead of 930FD, while is device info it say 930FD.
1. are there same or single system/OS for both version ?
If yes, then can i install ROM of 930F XSG, with same AP and CSC of My device, i am attaching screenshot to share more info...
View attachment 4057525
View attachment 4057526
2. If answer to 1st question is yes and safe, then can i just Flash only AP file, leaving BL, CP, CSC etc ?
I just want to get latest update (either via Odin or OTA)
Regards
No help ??
Have a look in download mode what it says the device is, flash all 4 part of the ROM using ODIN 3.12.3
CSC will reset the phone
HOME_CSC will not
If you are upgrading or downgrading Android versions, use CSC to avoid problems
G930FD uses the exact firmware that G930F uses. So yes, they're the same.
Flash BL, AP, CP and CSC file (not HOME_CSC) if you want to return stock and have OTA updates. Remember this will format your phone. It's later up to you whether you want to root again or just remain on stock.

Flash Oreo on Samsung S7 with odin - how to change CSC from XEO to BTU?

Hello,
last days I flashed the new Oreo firmware for my SM-G930F, available now only for UK (BTU CSC code). I used the last odin version 3.13.1. When the firmware was flashed, after factory recet I received my old CSC code (XEO). I wrote in forums, that if I want to changthe default CSC I have to set in odin settings Repartition. So yesterday evening I decided to reflash the firmware, but now with ticked Repartiotion. When I cklicked on Start, afer one two seconds red Fail windows has been shown. Why I can't flash the firmware with set Repartition? Does somebody have an idea what went wrong?
Reasons why I want to change the CSC code by default from XEO to BTU is that BTU receives the updates at the earliest!

BTU contains XEU as it is Multi-CSC, you cannot switch between them directly
You need to flash a different region CSC not included in BTU first, then flash BTU

One with the same bootloader version as you are running, probably version 2
You can tell by this number in the firmware version
G930FXXU2ERD5
Have a look in download mode for B:2 or whatever number it says and match to the firmware
Downgrade the same way you upgrade, but use ODIN 3.12.7 for Nougat
Do not flash the VOD (vodafone) Oreo, it is bricking devices, very broken, only flash BTU Oreo

What about flashing the same firmware with odin 3.13.1, but with ticked repartition in the option? This, regarding the comments in sammobile forum works. But for me doesn't. Maybe for Oreo it doesn't work or there is something specifically to do?

ur csc is bad, had the exact same thing a year ago,
just install twrp again
flash csc pack (if there are csc packs for snapdragon variant), flash any csc u want , i did it twice just to be sure
and after that go flash stock firmaware with same csc code
so if you install btu csc then flash the btu firmware with odin afterwards,
dont flash the home_csc .tar in odin just choose the normal csc thats in ur firmware folder
hopefully this works for you too mate
