Have you changed the animation to 0.5 or is it pure stock?

If you think that's smooth, then you haven't seen nothing yet... (Android Q Beta 6)

This right here. I had the sound issue on P where the sound would randomly switch from clear to bassy/muffled ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3-xl/how-to/semi-perm-fix-patch-random-sound-change-t3919626 ) , so I said enough since it's going to be almost a year, and Google still can't figure out how to fix it (and probably won't since Q is so close to release), so I went to QB6. P was 99.9% perfect for me. Just the sound issue I mentioned. It was buttery smooth, and worked flawlessly. Well being on QB6 for a full day, and using the phone for well over 12 hours, I can say QB6 makes P feel like Android version 5 or lower. Not only does it work flawlessly, but it's even smoother, better battery, better looks, and just overall a better OS. I feel like I just got a new phone.

Its loads better, sleep mode is better, although it takes a bit longer for the phone to fully wake up, and battery is excellent.

Guys, 2 days after the latest August security update my device can't connect to mobile internet. I have already declared it as connectivity interruption issue to my provider, but I was curious to know if someone else is dealing with the same weird problem. I already tried to reset network settings without further success. I could try to factory reset it as a last effort to solve this problem, but somehow I doubt that it will eventually help. Stock device, unmodified.

[Q] Is Lollipop still a dog?

Or should I install it on my Shield Tablet LTE?
Nope, it's still Lollipop. Google has pushed two fixes that kinda fix things but also create new problems, only one of which the Shield has gotten.
Also, if you like your current Gallery, remember to kiss it Goodbye as Lollipop uses the bloated Google+ for it. :/
Thanks for the prompt reply!

Damn, I didn't realize the gallery was gone until now. The new gallery doesn't seem to be too bad, but you're right in that it's bloated kinda.
Other than that, Lollipop seems to be an improvement over KitKat with regards to stability OP. I haven't had nearly as many issues with it. I'd say go for it.

On the bright side, Nvidia actually went out of their way to compile the email app... my Nexus sorely misses that. But hey, I've been using QuickPic for a while too, which is sufficient where Gallery is meh and Google+ just hurts.
Meanwhile, I'm pretty pleased with the direction the camera and its aftereffects editing have gone. It's not Picsay (or insert favorite editor here), but it's serviceable enough to not require an extra app.
So I'm beginning to see more reasons to upgrade to 5.0.1(?).
Is the only reason not to do so because of the aesthetics of using Google Drive for image storing?
I am thinking about going back to KitKat until there is a update to Lollipop which fixes the slowdowns I and others have.
Otherwise my main problem with Lollipop is that new volume control. To change the media volume you have to go to sound settings in settings menu. It's also too easy to turn of alarm sound by mistake with the new volume/notification control.
I remember reading an article at Android Central ago where they listed all bugs/missing features/problems with Lollipop. Well worth reading before updating.

Too late.
Just as well, so far it seems more stable for what I'm doing. I haven't seen any of the slowdowns you and others mention.
Thanks for pointing me to the Android Central article, I'll have to see if I can't find it. Feel free to post a link if you stumble across it before I do.

Since people are complaining about the gallery going away. Here is the old one. It also installs the old camera.

Just install the apk.

I use Quickpick as a replacement for the stock KK camera and it works really well. As for upgrade to 5.0.1, poeple is complaining about battery life and some miscellaneous thing, that's why i kept 5.0
5.01 is significantly smoother... Especially when you disable HW Overlay (Force GPU rendering).. I went back to KitKat due to the wonky battery stats / life of 5.01 and KitKat was a dog in comparison --- So I went back to 5.01. ANd its butter smooth in comparison - even Chrome is significantly improved on 501. The battery life / stats are still wonky but with my clean load of everything (reflashed everything) and rooted (removed all the ATT bloat) I have to say... I am loving the tablet much much more..
So my suggestion is to load a fresh version of KitKat (1.2 Nvidia Image) then perform a clean upgrade from there...
>even Chrome
With a fresh install approaching 80MB, that's a pretty impressive benchmark.
Yeah, Lollipop elsewhere might be trouble but I think Nvidia pulled it off.
Thanks for all the feedback.

Honestly, don't... I have been running lollipop since launch on my SHIELD LTE and now with 5.0.1, the number of minor bugs this has is simply mind bending. I have tried blaming it on pretty much everything but in truth all the stuff i use works heaps better in KitKat. Not to mention the Power drain, intermittent wifi, broken power control, rendering artefacts and so on and so forth. FYI none of this was an issue in kitkat for me and i have run it rooted and unrooted and with both locked and unlocked loader and pretty much anything i can think of, since I use EU/RoW software there is no bloating but even so i have tried removing anything and everything i could, to no improvement at all.
If you think nVidia did a good job on lollipop then i really don't want to see a bad job...
I agree... Other than performance Nvidia 2.1 (5.01 Andorid) has been a very poor quality build . However, Performance improved significantly (Antutu I gained 3k points just by going from 2.0 Nvidia to 2.1)
You can fix the artifact thing by Disabling HW overlay in Developers Options... pretty much all video glitches go away... WIFI is no better... I think they have a poor hardware design and wont be able to fix this with software. Battery Life is definitely worse and the battery stats are FUBAR. Regarding power control... I cant tell - honestly I dont see much difference when optimizing and not optimizing thus I guess they are broken.
I went back to KitKat and then went back to Lollipop - that tells you something right there

If i disable the overlay i get quite bad stuttering in animations in the places i had artefacts so between two bad things... I hate redoing a good setup but I will go back to kitkat & wait a good while for nV to sort out lollipop before going back.

I had the memory leak issue on 5.0.0, but 5.0.1 remedied every issue I had. I have no regrets about the update (except that I'm still unhappy with how the OS handles folder permissions because app developers are taking WAY too long to adapt to it).

Similar experience here, no issues on latest firmware.
I'm running 5.0.1 and I'm having battery drainage issues and major throttling when waking the device, even if my power management settings are set for max performance. Need to wait 10-20 seconds for commands to register.
I get one day of use out of the Tablet, would have to bring up the battery day for actual on screen time. I do use Chromecast quite a bit and play a lot of Hearthstone so... a day may be correct lol.
the biggest issue for me are the slow downs and random crashes though, just painful. Nothing angers while I'm having relax time than having Hearthstone crash while I'm laying down the hurt..... oh well, just a game.
I had the lovely memory leak issue pretty recently, and my tablet is definitely running 5.0.1. The OS is mediocre generally, with the processor still doing impressive heavy lifting, but when the system grinds to a total halt and not even the Home, Back, and Recent keys are disappearing or unresponsive, it's a bummer.
How about those software keys, huh? Twice as prone to failure in tight situations. Deciding to not register touches, being frozen, disappearing, etc... a brilliant choice.

[Q] Slow performance on Lolipop

Hi everyone,
So i've tried 2 lolipop roms now (currently on the resurrection remix) and i'm experiencing very slow performance on all of them. Typical scenario i'm in an app (lets say chrome) i hit the center home button and then the app drawer button; its taking forever to show the apps and sometimes i will just get a black screen. Just earlier i went into settings and after clicking something it took a few seconds to actually register. I dont remember experiencing this slowness on kitkat or jellybean for that matter. Is it just me?

No you are not.
I am experiencing the same and i am thinking everyone is experiencing this.
I would guess it's a Ram problem, cause thats the reason for all performance problems i had on this Phone, it has always been Ram/Ram-Management.
Take a look at the develpoment Page of CM12.
On the last Pages it seems like C has found a way to make this Rom really really Snappy, but he is still in testing.
Let's hope he will publish it soon.

its as good as the CM versions were a month or so ago. It seems the lollipop performance has dropped off lately as they've added in additional features. I'm on that rom right now because another one became unusable, but its got the same issues as other LP roms, namely multi-tasking and occasional awful performance (but yes, its probably the best of the bunch right now today as far as current roms go).
I'm seriously considering dropping back to KK

The memory leaks are to blame. Its not even device specific. They are trying to work on it. Word is CM12.1 should fix it, but i've heard mixed reviews on that. But yes, CM11 might be the best bet.

5.1 fixes this
I just installed 5.1 by epinter and I have to say it runs amazingly fast, smooth and stable.
Everything that bugged me out is gone.
You can keep Whatsapp, Chrome and Maps in Memory - it's just awesome.
It's also very snappy and apps start a lot faster.
And keep in mind this is the first attempt at porting 5.1.
Did I mention the battery lasts almost 50% longer as well at my first day of usage?

Is beta 3 stable enough for daily use

It's been out for a while now, was wondering if it is stable enough for daily use. I've tried to search but there isn't a tread on actual stability for daily use. Thanks
beta 4 should be out in a few days, may as well wait.
I had beta 3 on my 3XL, but reverted back to Pie. Phone was always running uncomfortably hot and the battery seemed to drain fairly quickly. Last night, I shut my phone completely off at 30%. This morning, I tried to power it on and it was completely drained. I placed it on the pixel stand and it showed that I had 0% battery. After reverting back to Pie, the phone no longer runs hot.
It is for me.
It ran very smooth for me but I couldn't live without root, so I went back to Pie.

I was getting FC with a high amount of apps
It's been running fine for me. A few little glitches such as the display not turning on when I lift the phone, but that is more of an irritation than a reason to not use it. Although as stated earlier, beta 4 will drop in a few days, so might as well wait for that.
For the most part it's good. The real big issue I've had is the snapchat/camera bug. I'll take a snap, and it'll turn all pixelated and everything, close it, then try again and it says the camera is not responding, and if you go to the camera app it doesn't work either. Great camera, but its glitchy as all hell.
ok its been a day since I installed beta 3 and yes its running fine , battery life seems better as well. I use my work for work with work emails and I don't feel like reverting back. Android Q is pretty awesome. I have noticed Netflix working but there are screen jitters.
My honest suggestion is to wait for beta 4 which should have completed most of the errors.

This is the one thing I agree with so far. A LOT of my normal apps just either won't run or randomly close. Just basic apps and the known issue with having syncing issues with banking apps is really hard to take.
Been on since the 1st beta, been stable enough for my usage this far.
I have come back on foot, it is slow, there are many failures, especially with Google services, etc ...to see beta 4 that will come out soon
I have been running the Beta and no issues works fine for me as daily driver.
I've never had any force closing of any of my apps on beta 3. Then again, I did do a clean install of it.
Works pretty much perfectly for me. No FC of apps, very fast and the battery life is great. I DID wipe on P before taking the beta 2 update, then took the 3 OTA. I think going dirty from P to Q is what is causing so many problems for people. I would definitely wipe either on P or when you grab Q. Normally I would say on P, then setup all apps since that helps a ton with them working correctly on early betas, but, 4 should work with most apps at this point.
The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the full gestures. The partial swipe up and hold for recents kind of sucks. I have to turn it off then on again daily to keep it working. Also, I think full/quick swipe up should be for recents, and either a second swipe or the swipe and hold for apps. The former is how it works on 2 button and it's soooo much better.

I updated to beta 3 before installing any applications or even restoring from the play store
I get numerous force close on many applications repeatedly some not even starting at all.
Banking apps by and large fail to work.
I've just received the beta 4 update ?
Been on the beta since the first one was released on my daily driver. No serious issues at all. Beta 4 is almost the final version (final API:s) of Android 10.
It's snappier than Pie ever was and the gestures are great.

Did OP abandon this phone?

This is my 2nd OP phone, first was the OPO. Couldn't believe how much life I squeezed out of that phone, and by most accounts OP has been good about keeping their old phones updated and usable.
Instead we've had broken Android 10 on the OP6 for months. Did something change at OP? Between this, unstable TWRP on the 7t, and unlocked bootloader issues with the McLaren, it seems like they DGAF anymore.

Im on OP6 beta channel.. OP has provided 4 updates till now and all of them have been pretty good and stable. So its hard to believe that the stable channel is broken and not addressed for a long period.
Its always a good practice to factory reset after a major update. My brother's Galaxy M30 was lagging after the recent Android 10 update but factory reset made it fine again. So maybe it might work for you as well

I'm rooted but did a full wipe incl. data when I upgraded. Had the same lag, battery drain, brightness and keyboard issues people have been complaining about with the latest stable release. Toughed it out for 2 weeks before reverting back to 9.0.9. It sucks because I don't want to give my headphone jack or my rear fingerprint sensor, and definitely won't be sticking with OnePlus if they cannot be trusted to keep a 2 year old phone properly updated. You cant blame OP if you have rooted the phone. Once you mess with the original rom then its on you. I have clean beta official ROM and it works like charm.

This is a stock ROM. I never mess with custom ROMs on OnePlus devices. And the mere fact that I'm using TWRP and Magisk should not break the UI. It never has on any other phone I've had going back to the HTC Evo 4G. On every other phone, stock performs the same whether or not it's rooted. If that's no longer the case with OP then that's another reason to reconsider paying $6-700 for their phones.
Not sure.. But Oneplus literally screwed this device with their Android 10 update.

You might add that TWRP doesn't have anything to do with the ROM, and Magisk is fully systemless, so without active modules, this shouldn't be able to break anything ...

This. Bump!
I even didnt try update to 10...
Rarly came here due lack of interesting new things....except Gcam....
Happy with 9.0.9 and period. Root + TWRP + xXx rom for ViperSound.
Everything works, don`t touch more.
But i really feel OP already left this device to abandon......such a shame.
Or, due to many models, the team is the same with lot more work, anyway we all suffer lack of confidence in them. Or at least me.
Camera, sound =piece of crap
I think all you cant complain about Op support. Say me which brand dice you Active and fresh support on devices older than 2 years.

I don't understand what is your expectation when you say OP has abandoned this device? They worked towards providing Android 10 update, but it was your choice to not to install it. People reported bugs and stability issues in Android 10 update, and OP has worked and fixed many of them, and they are still working on it (been using Android 10 since beta and at current state, very much satisfied with it). But is not beneficial as you have chosen not to use it. If you like using rooted ROM with mods installed, and if your expectation is that OP provides you the mod functionalities in the ROM (if that's what you expect), that doesn't mean they are not working at all on this device. If you are happy with older ROM and do not wish to upgrade, then I don't understand why complain about OP not providing anything new?
Camera and sound are not up to the mark, for Camera, even with GCam I don't find the image quality satisfactory. And this is a major drawback of this phone, and only solution is to buy a phone from some other manufacturer, like Samsung which is better in these aspects (at least that's what I could think of for my next purchase)
Apologies if I sounded rude anywhere.
I'm running the first version of Android 10 that was released and the only issue I have encountered is the black screen while trying to unlock the phone. That's easily circumvented by just pressing the power button to turn the phone off and then back on and done. I've had this phone since launch and it has by far had more updates than any other OnePlus device that I have owned. I have been a faithful customer since the OnePlus 3 and I have owned every device since
OP here. 10 3.1 fixes nearly every issue I was having with Android 10. I'm rooted and running the latest TWRP and having no issues at all except for the space under the keyboard, which is an easy fix. Furthermore it looks like a lot of the issues I was having were with Android itself, not OOS. In any case I hereby withdraw my criticisms of OnePlus' handling of this. Great work, team.
I will also add that I recently acquired a OP7Pro, and while it is a great phone, Android 10 is just as glitchy and 98% of the time it does not feel any faster than the OP6.

Have for 4/5 days. Camera crashed once. But, to be honest, there is a app to restart the camera that... just worked.
I've tried at least 7 ROM's. No other gets near this one in my opinion.
Flashed Pico Gapps for Android 10 and then build it from there to match my needs.
Granted I tried several ROM's in the last 8 months, some may already taken care of some problems, but to my knowledge other ROM never took care of the echo problem in the calls, camera crashed much more often and no app worked to restart it, this one works as I already said, face unlock works like a charm, some of the ones I tested didn't even got it, battery consumption is better than original ROM (again, to be honest, after ROM flashing battery drained a bit fast, but made a reboot, since then, just a breeze).
To me is THE perfect ROM to this phone.
Again a big, enormous, thank you to the developer(s) that made this available.
And one more thing, all this just works!!! You do not have to patch anything, add anything, just flash the ROM. Simple as that.
Ho! And it REALLY IS light weight. No bull**** in that sentence!
Superb, tomorrow I'll test it

Well, all those fixes come from tlmlbreakdown who maintains LineageOS.
You'd get the same fixes by installing LineageOS 17.1.

Wow, really? I need to try this then, I'm sick of all the half-baked ROMs on here.
A few questions if you're willing to answer them: Which model do you have? How fast does GPS lock? What's your SOT? How is the camera quality? Does dual SIM work without issues?
I am facing issue with incoming calls sound not playing on phone when bluetooth is connected. I get beeps in my bluetooth headset but there is no sound coming from phone. I have checked and all settings look ok. Any solution for this?

That's a feature, not a bug. Really, every Android behaves like this. If you have a BT headset connected, ringing your phone too is pointless.

Any way to disable this? I keep my bluetooth connected and miss the incoming calls.
