Before I begin, I would like to point out that I have no connection with Spigen, except being one of their customers.
This morning I had the good idea to cook while watching a series on my phone, on my electric stove.
I turned on one of the hot plates but by mistake I turned on the one on which the phone was placed. I only understood my mistake a few minutes later, alerted by the smell of burnt plastic.
I'm a total jerk, and on this one Spigen completely protected my Pixel 3a. The outer part of the case partially melted, but the inner part was only slightly deformed. The phone was hot but without any visible damage.
End of story, next time I'll make room on my work surface rather than on the stove...
This is the same case I use, this is good to know.

Yes, Spigen makes one of the best cases actually. It was protecting my original Pixel XL, now the same Rugged Armor is on my 3a.
I'm impressed and disgusted at the same time lol
Another [emoji16][emoji106] for the Spigen Tough Armor case. Two drops on a concrete floor... No issues.
And I'm waiting for my 4a and have bought another Spigen Tough Armor with the Shieldbrainz screen protectors. Waiting on the phone which just shipped today.

Hi everyone, i am looking for a case that doesn't cause any sort of scuffs, scratches or damage to the delicate and inferior quality aluminium chassis of nexus 6p. I have earlier used spigen rugged armor that caused the initial damage. Thereafter i started using nillkin nature with a skin.
But now i want to get rid of the skin and get a case for it. Almost zeroed down on supcase but saw a review on amazon. See attached images.
Pls suggest a case that doesn't cause this.
Been using the supcase for 8 months and the phone is pristine! just my experience
I have 4 Diztronics and 3 Rhinosheilds,...No scuff or damage.

I might opt for this one how's the fit, does the phone slide inside it?
Not on my Diztronics.
I use a Seidio CONVERT with a tempered glass sp, and my 6p is pristine.
No issues with my Diztronic voyeur, Cruzerlite or Rhinoshield.

I've had mine in a spigen ultra hybrid since the day it arrived in December 2015, no damage.

Interesting you had issues with the spigen rugged armor. I've used the same case for the past 9 months, and not only is the phone in 100% flawless condition, so is the case. I wonder if you received a defective product, as mine is so perfect that dust doesn't even get inside. And, its compatible with my glass screen protectors as well.
Unfortunate, but I don't believe the case itself has any issues in general. Its actually one of the nicest ones available to be honest.
Does anyone have input on the UAG cases? The Amazon ones are mixed and I don't want to burn $30.
i have the ash uag case for mine and my wife's pixel xl since the beginning of December.
was looking forward to this case. when i first got it i liked it alot, but then other people got theirs and made me start to look at mine again. the one issue is that the lip at the top and bottom seem to show a little bit too much metal. it's almost like as though they rushed the case. i thought the case from uag would have been similar to the uag case they did for the galaxy note 4, in how it wrapped the phone and you knew it was protected.
since getting my uag case i have ordered the presidio grip, didn't like it, not that much screen protection and that case felt lose on the phone.
ordered the seidio dilex, bigger case tab the uag in feel making the phone feel bulkier but the headphone jack cutout is too small, unless your headphones have a skinny plug. will be sending that one back.
received the vrs design high pro shield. same thing not that much lip on the screen and button feel was not that great.
was going to order the LifeProof fre but read people having flash issues at night with the case on. still thinking about giving the caseology case a try.
so after going through those cases determined the uag case will work and get the job done with a screen protector. just ordered the full screen glass protector from spigen through Amazon, presently using the yootech screen protector.
thought about going back to the diztronic but just a little too plain. and the uag has taken a few slips out the pocket already and has survived so will stick with this one for the time being.

I have been using UAG cases for years. As soon as the version for the XL came out I had it. I used it for 2 days and hated it. It did not fit quite right and was very heavy compared to the Spigen Rugged Armor. I threw my UAG in a drawer and have no plans to use it again.

LMAO. thought about giving the rugged armor another try, just concerned about the small cutout for the autofocus sensor.

I noticed while shopping for my used XL that a lot of them had definite places where the finish was worn off due to a case. I just bought mine a couple of days ago and am actively hunting for a case, but don't want to buy one that wears off my finish.
So if you have had a case that has done the deed, please post below. Pics too if you are inclined to do so.
If you have had a case for a while that hasn't, please post below.
Thanks.

I bought the Spigen Slim Armor Case and love it. I take this case of at least a couple times a week ( when going out in the town) and have had zero marks of any kind show on the phone. I've had the case on it since day 1 and after 6 months phone still looks new. Here is a link, although when I bought it I paid 12.99 on Amazon.

I've rocked a Ringke Fusion case since the week I bought the phone (December 2016) and the phone still looks flawless. It's been dropped onto concrete floors multiple times too, a testament to its protective abilities.
I used a Spigen Rugged Armor case for the Pixel XL, I lost an inch paint on the left side starting from 1.5" from the bottom to the center. I didnt take the case off for a while and noticed the issue after using it for a week or two. I still use the case and while the paint loss isn't that bad, it's sure noticeable.

I'm using Case-Mate Wallet case and no regrets since I've brought it.

I've used some others in the past that the card slot wore off quite fast, but the only flaw in this one is not having a magnetic "lock".

I also use the Spigen Rugged Armour case and I have had a very different experience. I've had the phone and case since December and have used that case exclusively on my Pixel XL. I rarely remove the case (maybe once a month) and there is no damage at all to the phone or its finish. Looks practically out of the box new.

besides that loss of paint on the edge, it has looked brand new. I tried talking with google about this as a QC issue but they were so unhelpful. thanks for confirming for me that it was my phone and not the case :crying: lol
How about lining the case with something to ensure this doesn't happen? I've escaped so far but I feel like this may be an issue with the Pixel more than the cases so maybe we should protect ourselves anyway.
I've always thought the best way to deal with this is either to apply a skin or tape around the edges and friction points. The problem is several cases don't fit well with a skin applied first.
I am coming from a Pixel 2XL and I was using a Pitaka carbon fiber case for the past year. That was one of the best cases I have ever used. The carbon fiber seemed to have a grippy or rubber coating over the case and I never dropped that thing. The TPU cases that claim to have grip are still nothing like what the Pitaka case had. I have reached out to Pitaka and it sounds like they won't be making a case for the Pixel anymore. Bummer.
If you're looking for a slim, non-tpu case check out the Spigen Thin Fit. I had one on my LG G7 and got one for my Pixel 4. No problems with grip and definitely better than a TPU or glossy plastic case that gets slippery when you're wet, sweating, or have greasy fingers or something.

The grip on the thin fit is good, but beware that the edges stick up past the screen, and they're sharp. They make using gestures really annoying. I stopped using mine for that reason. They didn't think that one through for the Pixel 4.

Yeah, I haven't had that issue really, I don't use the gestures too often, but I can see where you're coming from. I'm hoping they release a Thin Fit 360 in the future, which would correct this issue entirely (at the expense of having a two-piece case design). I had it on my G7 and it was perfect. The only problems I see with that type of case now are they hug the outside of the screen just a tiny bit and tempered glass screen protectors can interfere with installation.
I'm using the black Speck Presidio Grip case. Very grippy, doesn't slide easily on slick surfaces, good drop protection, and not bulky at all.

Same here, it's a very nice case. I had the same on the S10 plus and Pixel 3XL and they were great as well. Can't really go wrong with it but it's a bit pricey compared to others.

They can be found cheaper on Amazon. Usually half the price from carrier stores

I just checked Amazon and they are the same price as local stores here. Give it a few months and yes Amazon will be cheaper but not today.
EFM Aspen Case
Check out the EFM Aspen Case. I've got it and it's super grippy. I've posted pics of it on another thread, but here's links for you:

Take a look at the imak TPU cases. They have a Metal Black (rubbery) and a rough texture one. I use the Metal Black one on my Pixel 1 and it has lasted almost 2 years. Good grip even for the non rough one, but has started to peel after 2 years. No biggie, it's $5.
It's on Aliexpress, I may try out the rough one this time as well when I get my 4.

My Dbrand Grip case came in last week. I put a orange carbon fiber skin on the back so I could remember that I have the orange Pixel 4 XL. So far, so good. I haven't got anywhere near dropping it. I had the fabric case from Google before. It was a fine case but it attracted stains.
using moment photo case and yes the sides are grippy like the pixel 4's sides.
If I remember I'll report back when my Dbrand case arrives, it is literally called 'grip' but who knows if it is nicer than the Spigen armor with kickstand, it is quite grippy.
ESR cases are very grippy and also has a kickstand
I'm actually loving my moment case for the 4XL, the walnut wood really sets it off, the inside has soft suede like material to keep it from scratching. I used to have the pitaka on my 2XL and forced it on the 3XL, it was way slimmer. But I've come to accept a little extra bulk for protection and the ability to add lenses is really special, it actually transforms the ability of the already fantastic camera.
Anyone know of a case similar to the ones from smartish? The kung fu grip cases have a rough outer edge and have a grip to them that i like very much. Only for iphones though. Anything similar maybe?
I had purchased a case from the Google store with my phone since I was so pumped about it. It was 40 bucks that I never should have spent. Their case is a piece of molded cardboard wrapped in felt. There wasn't even any protection on the bottom. Not only that, but the case was really slippery; always felt like it was going to slide out of my hands.
So, I purchased a Spigen Tough Armor case from Amazon and could not be more pleased. It fits better (still not as grippy as I'd like) and feels much more durable.
Dbrand has sale running .. Grip case $15 ..

I noticed that Urban Armor Gear (UAG) had available P7P cases on their website, so I ordered one when I ordered the phone on October 6th.
Received the phone on the 12th, but the case had not yet shipped. I sent them an email that they replied to with, "We have 8-10 days to ship orders." A little standoffish, but ok, maybe that person was just tired of answering emails.
Received the case today October 20th. 14 days? Not too bad if I stop comparing everything to Amazon, but a long enough time that I ended up getting a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case from Amazon cause as you all know, the phone itself is quite slippery. It fit and worked just fine but the cutouts in the bottom felt a little sharp, as per usual with Spigen.
Anyhow, when I was looking at the UAG case on the website it looked fairly bulky and I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to use wireless charging but I can confirm that it is charging wirelessly as we speak on a 1st gen Pixel Stand.
The case is a little less rugged than some of their previous ones. As far as back and corner protection, I think it's fine, but what concerns me most is the screen. The older cases (for phones without beveled edges) had a raised lip all the way around them to help protect them but with how the P7P is designed, the case is designed with the curved screen in mind and so it is only protected when placed on an absolutely flat surface.
The corners are slightly raised while the sides of the case thin down below the bevel, which makes sense, but also causes me anxiety because if I drop it, it's basically a coin flip on whether or not the screen survives.
The case itself feels ok. Not great, and definitely not secure as the edges will sometimes lift or push away from the side of the phone as you handle it.
The extra bevel around the camera ribbon is great, and all the cutouts feel nice and smooth.
A picture they don't show you on the website is the top of the case. There is no window or cutout for the antenna area and only a small hole for the mic.
I don't use a screen protector but as far as I can tell, I doubt you would be able to get one to stay on this thing with how flimsy the sides of the case move around and don't really hold tight to the phone. Even the cheap Spigen case held more securely.
I'll give it a few days but as someone who used to love UAG cases back in the Pixel and Pixel 3 XL days, I'm pretty disappointed in this new one.
I noticed they had that case and I thought about it but I stopped buying UAG cases when the Pathfinder for my 8 Plus literally fell apart. Switched to Spigen Tough Armor since and have had zero issues.
EDIT: Actually I think it was my HTC One (M8). Either way, it split at the bottom and I had to toss it.
Everything they said and more. Had it on my phone 1 day....and that was because I was at work with no backup case. Promptly sent it back for a refund. JUNK! Cuts off the screen corners, peels up screen protector, etc. NO THANK YOU!
FWIW, I got this case today: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBFXYPQ2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
It feels like the GOOD UAG cases felt when I used my Galaxy Note 20....much better than the actual UAG case for the P7P. Just wish it also came in other colors....
