SOLUTION! Fix SIM Lock, and Google Apps error on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (SM-J7109) - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

(My first language is Spanish, I'm sorry if the translation is not perfect).
Device: Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016)
Model: SM-J7108
Firmware: J7108ZHU1APC3
TROUBLE:
I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) Duos, I thought it was SM-J7108, because in "Settings", the software version said "108", and behind the battery, it also said "108".
But when I was planning to update it to a new version of Android, I saw in the "Download Mode" that said model "SM-J7109", which caused me intrigue. I thought the device was actually "109" model, so I searched and downloaded the latest firmware of that model. And I proceeded to flash with Odin the firmware “J7109KEU1BRD1” of the "109" model.
When I turned on the device, I found the big problem that the device DIDN'T READ THE SIM CARDS of my country, it asked me for a SIM card from CHINA. Apparently the only firmwares for the "109" model were from China and there is no agreement with Google, so the device had NO GOOGLE APPs, nor Play Store. :crying:
I looked for solutions everywhere. And I never found a solution to return to the "108" model, it did not allow me to flash firmwares of the "108" model. I tried solutions for several days, until I succeeded in finding a new global firmware (J7109KEU1APC3) for the "109" model. I flashed it and fortunately it was perfect, without any of the above problems. :highfive:
SOLUTION:
Note:
· Make a backup of all your files because a factory restore will be done and everything will be deleted.
· Have “USB debugging” activated in the developer options. For this we go to "Settings - About the Device - Software Info" and repeatedly touch "Compilation Number" until the developer options are activated. We return to "Settings - Developer Options" and activate USB Debugging ”.
Required Files (download both on the pc):
· CROMService.apk
· Global New Firmware (J7109KEU1APC3)
Xda-Developers doesn't allow me to post links because I am a new user. You can find the apk and firmware easily if you google them. Otherwise, I can't think of any more solution that you write to my email "[email protected]" asking for the links with the title "Fix SM-J7109 Problems". (Only messages in english and spanish).
Steps:
1. Download the “CROMService.apk" and copy it to the device.
2. Install and open the app. A message will appear indicating an unlock.
3. Turn off the device.
4. Start “download mode” by pressing and holding the “Power, Volume Down and Home” buttons at the same time until a blue screen appears.
5. Press the “Volume up” button.
6. Open Odin on the PC.
8. Connect the device to the PC via USB cable.
9. In Odin it should appear colored blue in the “ID” box.
10. In Odin, click on “AP”, search and select the new global firmware (J7109KEU1APC3) that you downloaded on the pc. You need to select the ".tar" file. You have to extract the .rar file that you downloaded and you will get the .tar file. Then you select it in the "AP" box.
11. Go to the "Options" tab and make sure the "Re-Partition" box is empty. "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are the only boxes that must be activated.
12. Go back to the "Log" tab and press "Start" and the new firmware will start flashing.
13. When finished, disconnect the cable. (The device will begin to loop without being able to turn on.)
14. Just remove the battery, and put it on again.
15. Start in "Recovery Mode" by pressing and holding the "Power, Volume Up and Home" buttons at the same time, until the samsung logo and text at the top comes out. Release and wait.
16. Using the “Volume Up and Volume Down” keys, move to and select “Wipe data / factory reset”, and then move and select “YES”.
17. Now move and select “Wipe cache partition”.
18. Now move and select “Reboot system now” and the device will turn on, without any SIM card problem and with all Google services and applications installed.
I hope it helps you and that you have been able to succeed by following the steps. Don't forget to click the "Thanks" button. :fingers-crossed:-Diego Rivera Campi-

Guide [Root]ing the [T230NU] for DUMMIES (Galaxy Tab 4 7.0)

1. To start off, make sure your tablet's battery is fully charged.
2. Download the 'T230NU Root Kit' & 'Samsung USB Driver' files to your PC & extract them.
3. Locate the 'Samsung USB Driver' file and install it on your PC.
4. In your Tablet go into Settings/General, scroll down and click on 'About device'. Look for where it says 'Build number', you need to TAP that continuously until it says 'Developer mode has been turned on'. You should now see 'Developer options' on top of 'About device', click it and checkmark 'USB Debugging'.
5. Connect the tablet to your PC with the USB cable.
6. In your PC locate the 'UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46' file and copy it to your Tablet (Root directory of your tablet is fine or place it anywhere you want, remember the location and DO NOT EXTRACT IT, just copy it as it is).
7. Disconnect the tablet from your PC & power it off.
8. Put your Tablet into 'Download Mode' (push all these three buttons at the same time; Power/VolumeDOWN/Home) As soon as you see letters on the screen IMMEDIATELY hit the 'VolumeUP' button while letting go of the other three buttons). If you did it right, it should now say 'Downloading...', if not then power it off and try again.
9. Connect the tablet to your PC with the USB cable.
10. In your PC locate the 'Odin3 v3.09' file, right click it and choose 'Run as administrator'. Once the program opens it should automatically detect your tablet--it should say 'Added!!' under Message. Now click on the button that says 'BL' and locate the 'openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-degas' file, select it and click open. Make sure to uncheck 'Auto-Reboot' and then click 'Start'. When it's done you should see the word RESET in blue on top & it should say 'RES OK!!' under message.
11. Disconnect the tablet from your PC & power it off by holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds.
12. Now that your tablet is off, go into 'Recovery Mode' (push all these three buttons at the same time; Power/VolumeUP/Home) As soon as the Samsung logo comes up let go of ONLY the power button, then as soon as you see the 'Teamwin' logo IMMEDIATELY let go of the other two buttons. If you did it right then you should now be inside the 'Teamwin' program, if not and your device booted up normally then you need to try again starting from step #7.
13. Click on 'Install' and locate the 'UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46' file--depending on where you saved it in your tablet on step #6, now at the bottom where it says 'Swipe to Confirm Flash' swipe it to the right, wait until it is done flashing and then choose 'Reboot System'.
14. Before you start jumping for joy, lets first check for Root status (once your tablet boots up, go to the play store and download an app called 'Root Check',
install it, open it & it should say that your device is 'ROOTED').
15. Congratulations! You now have full control of your device.
Are you aware this is now the third how-to-root guide thread made for this exact method, for this model?

You can check the uninstall option in superSu app or Re-install your firmware(or install any rom). I also think there might be some kind of superSu-uninstaller script/app somewhere in forums.

Here are simple steps for upgrade/downgrade stock rom for the 1st time;
- Backup all your personal information for keeping it safe by using Samsung Kies
- USB Debugging should be enabled on your device. To enable USB debugging go to Settings > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging. ( If it's not visible in settings, go to, Settings > About Device > Software info > Hit 7 times to ''Build number'')
- The USB drivers for your device should be installed on your computer so that your computer can detect your device when you plug it in. (See attachment)
- Download Odin from this link
- Download the right firmware for ur model from sammobile site.
- When downloading is done extract it.
- Run Odin as administrator
- Click the "AP" (or "PDA") box and browse for the extracted firmware file. (wait till it successfully loaded)
- Turn off ur phone
- Press and hold the following buttons in order: Volume Down + Home + Power. Keep holding them until you see a screen that says "Warning!!" at the top.
- Press the Volume Up button to continue.
The next screen will show the Android logo and say "ODIN MODE" at the top left.
- In Odin Under Options, only "F. Reset Time" should be checked. (Uncheck"Auto Reboot")
- Now connect your phone to your computer via USB.
- Wait until you see your phone plugged in.
- Press Start in Odin.
- When Odin is successfully finished, you will see in the Message box "All threads completed" (it may take about 5 minutes to complete so be patient).
- Don't turn on the phone.
- Press in order: Volume Up + Home + Power until you see an Android screen.
- Use Volume Down to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it. (Make sure you have backed up your phone! It will erase everything)
- On the next screen, scroll to Yes, select it, and your phone will reset.
- When it's done, select reboot system now and it will reboot.
- Restore your data using Samsung Kies. This will restore most of everything; you may need to re-setup the home screens and some of your settings. (Optional)
If you are having any issues while downgrading, feel free to ask to clear your doubts.

I applaud your detailed description of how to do things. I spend hours last month to root my phone until i realized that almost all guides were flawed... One comment. You can optimize the description for easier reading cause there is a lot of excess info but other than that Well Done! This topic should be pinned somewhere
PS: Works fine with Magisk as well btw

Update Samsung Galaxy On5 SM-G550FY (non-Pro) to Nougat Pro firmware - Detailed

As one of the previous threads in this section mentioned the same (that On5 Pro firmwares work on non-Pro On5 models also), I can confirm that it works on Samsung Galaxy On5 SM-G550FY (2015 non-Pro) model. The downloaded firmware was a latest On5-Pro Nougat version that I could find on https://updato.com but works with old non-Pro On5 model as well.
This post is "only" meant to chalk out the complete process.
Detailed instructions for people who've not rooted their Samsung devices before:
Steps to replicate the process:
Preparation for rooting first:
Make sure your phone battery is charged to 70% or more
Backup your device data
Make sure you install Samsung's Android USB Driver for Windows on your PC, if you haven’t already. >> Official link
Download the latest .tar image of TWRP for Galaxy On5 (it is compatible) >> Official link
Download and Unzip the latest version of Odin version >> Official link
Download the latest Super SU >> Official link
Now follow the instructions:
First you should enabled Developer options. If Developers Option is hidden, go to Settings > About Phone > Built Number (tap on it for 5-8 times)
Enabled USB Debugging and OEM unlock.
Install Android USB Drivers on your PC.
Connect the phone to you PC using the USB cable and copy the SuperSU.zip file into any directory of your internal storage.
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy Boot the device into Download Mode as follows: press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together.
When a warning triangle appears on screen, press Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Launch Odin.exe by click right and run as administrator on computer.
Connect your phone to the computer. Odin will automatically detect your phone and show the “added" message.
In Odin, tap AP button and find the TWRP Recovery file you downloaded earlier and select it.
Uncheck Auto-reboot in the options tab in Odin
Click Start in Odin.
Once the root installation is done, your phone will reboot and soon a PASS message with a green background appears in the left-most box at the very top of Odin.
Remove the battery and then re-insert it again.
Boot into “recovery mode”, by pressing and hold Volume Up + Home +Power buttons simultaneously
In the TWRP mode Swipe to Allow Modification
Tap ‘Install’
Select Storage and scroll to location of SuperSU.zip file.
Select the .zip file and swipe the bar to confirm. This will start flashing the .zip file.
Once the flashing finished you will see the ‘Reboot System’ option, click it to reboot your device.
After reboot, if the SuperSU App exist on your Application Menu on your smartphone it means you’ve successfully rooted your device.
Can take further help from here (works for this On5 model as well) >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...nt/updated-root-instructions-samsung-t3747435
After rooting:
You can remove the bloatware first using any "root uninstaller" app from the Play Store. Be careful as to not uninstall any vital system apps.
Now go to >> https://updato.com and download the latest On5 SM-G550FY firmware (>1GB) by searching "On5" and sorting firmwares by date and selecting the region (for my model make the region was India (INS) >> You can use this Working link directly, as well
The above version is an On5 Pro Nougat version but works in old On5 models as well.
Final Steps:
Now again launch Odin.exe by click right and run as administrator on computer.
Connect your phone to the computer. Odin will automatically detect your phone and show the “added" message.
In Odin, tap AP button and find the firmware file you downloaded earlier and select it. You might need to first extract the firmware file.
Click Start in Odin.
The phone will reboot and you'll have updated your Lollipop/Marshmallow device to Nougat.

How To Guide [NOT WORKING] UNLOCK A536W (CANADIAN) BOOTLOADER

THIS GUIDE HAS BEEN TESTED AND HENCE PROVEN TO BE INEFFECTIVE ON 05/12/2023. I AM LEAVING IT UP, HOWEVER, IN CASE SOMEONE USES IT TO DEVELOP A METHOD THAT WILL WORK.
IF YOU KNOW A METHOD OF UNLOCKING THE A536W (CANADIAN MODEL) OR KNOW HOW TO FORCIBLY FLASH DIFFERENT MODEL FIRMWARE ONTO A536W, PLEASE CONTACT ME!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKED DEVICES, LOST IMEIs, OR WHATEVER ELSE THAT COULD COME FROM ATTEMPTING TO FOLLOW THIS GUIDE. YOU SHOULD KNOW THE RISKS BEFORE FOLLOWING ANY GUIDE - ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING AS SENSITIVE AS FLASHING FIRMWARE AND UNLOCKING A BOOTLOADER.
GUIDE:
1. Download the attached files (Odin PatcheD 13.3.4 and Samsung Drivers).
2. Download the following firmware files: A536B & A536W (FOR THE A536W FIRMWARE, SELECT WHICHEVER CSC MATCHES YOURS. TO CHECK YOUR CSC, GO TO THE STOCK SAMSUNG DIALER AND PUNCH-IN "*#1234#". If it says "OYV", I'm pretty sure it means it's carrier-unlocked. Just use Google to see what CSC your carrier uses. Mine, for example, would be "PMB" because I use Public Mobile. MAKE SURE WHATEVER TWO FIRMWARE FILES YOU CHOOSE BOTH HAVE THE SAME BINARY NUMBER. You can flash-up binary numbers and side-flash, but you can't go down, so if your CSC hasn't released a firmware file with binary "5" and you manage to flash a binary 5 file, for example, you won't be able to revert until a binary 5 firmware is released for your CSC.)
3, WHEN ALL FILES ARE DOWNLOADED, USE RAR OR 7ZIP TO EXTRACT THEM. MAKE SURE ALL ARCHIVES ARE EXTRACTED TO THEIR OWN SEPARATE FOLDER FROM THE REST. Make sure Odin gets its own folder, the A536B firmware gets its own folder, and the A536W firmware gets its own folder. The Samsung Driver is a quick, one-time installation, so, it doesn't matter where it goes, really, because you can delete the executable-file right after the next step.
4. INSTALL THE SAMSUNG DRIVERS. Should be pretty self-explanatory. DON'T DO THIS IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM INSTALLED: it's a waste of time.
5. REBOOT YOUR PC. You can skip this step if you already had the drivers installed, though.
6. MAKE A BACK-UP OF ANY FILES YOU WANT TO KEEP. AFTERWARDS, POWER-OFF YOUR PHONE, WAIT 60 SECONDS TO ENSURE FULL SHUT-DOWN, AND REMOVE THE SIM-CARD AND/OR SD-CARD JUST TO BE SAFE. ONCE REMOVED, POWER YOUR PHONE UP AGAIN. YOUR DATA WILL BE COMPLETELY ERASED BY THE END OF THIS, SO, THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT.
7. SIGN OUT OF YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT, AND SIGN OUT OF YOUR SAMSUNG ACCOUNT. DO THIS FROM WITHIN THE PHONE'S SETTINGS. REMOVE ANY AND ALL FORMS OF SECURITY: FACE-RECOGNITION, FINGERPRINTS, PIN, PASSWORD, OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU USE. IF YOU DON'T REMOVE THESE, IT MIGHT BLOCK YOU OUT OF YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU RESET.
8. TURN YOUR PHONE OFF. WAIT 60 SECONDS TO ENSURE FULL SHUT-DOWN. AFTERWARDS, INSERT YOUR CHARGING CABLE, WAIT FOR THE VIBRATION AND CHARGING-INDICATOR, AND THEN HOLD THE POWER BUTTON AND VOLUME-UP BUTTON TOGETHER UNTIL THE STOCK RECOVERY SHOWS UP. CLEAR YOUR CACHE, AND THEN DO A FACTORY RESET. THEN SELECT POWER OFF, AND WAIT 60 SECONDS.
9. POWER THE PHONE ON AND WAIT FOR IT TO SET-UP. DO NOT SET ANYTHING ELSE UP BESIDES WI-FI SO THAT IT CAN DO ITS THING. DO NOT PUT A FORM OF SECURITY, SUCH AS A PASSWORD OR PIN. DO NOT INSERT YOUR SD-CARD AND/OR SIM-CARD. IF THE PHONE HASN'T ASKED YOU TO SIGN INTO ANYTHING (LIKE GOOGLE) IN ORDER TO PROVE THAT YOU OWN THE PHONE, THAT MEANS YOU CAN CONTINUE WITH THE REST OF THE GUIDE.
10. WHEN IT'S DONE DOWNLOADING WHATEVER AND DOING INITIAL SETUP, GO TO SETTINGS, "ABOUT PHONE", "SOFTWARE INFORMATION", AND TAP "Build Number" UNTIL "DEVELOPER MODE" HAS BEEN TURNED ON.
11. GO BACK TO THE SETTINGS' MAIN-MENU, AND SELECT "DEVELOPER OPTIONS".
12. SCROLL DOWN TO "USB DEBUGGING". TURN ON "USB DEBUGGING", "3GPP AT COMMANDS", AND "DISABLE ADB AUTHORIZATION TIMEOUT".
13. SCROLL DOWN A BIT FURTHER TO "DEFAULT USB CONFIGURATION". MAKE SURE IT IS SET TO "TRANSFERRING FILES".
14. CONNECT THE PHONE TO YOUR PC VIA USB CABLE (MAKE SURE THE CABLE IS MTP-COMPATIBLE), AND ALLOW YOUR PC TO LINK WITH YOUR PHONE (MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE'S SCREEN IS ON WHILE DOING THIS AND THAT IT DOES NOT TURN OFF).
15. UNPLUG PHONE, WAIT A COUPLE SECONDS, AND PLUG IT BACK IN JUST TO MAKE SURE IT'S PROPERLY HOOKED-UP. ACCEPT ALL PERMISSIONS.
16. REBOOT PHONE AND PC.
17. START ODIN.
18. USING THE A536B FIRMWARE, MATCH THE CORRESPONDING FILES AND FIELDS (BL FILE IN BL, AP FILE IN AP, CP FILE IN CP, AND CSC FILE IN CSC [NOT "HOME_CSC" FILE]).
If you want to watch a video to help with this step, this one shows you exactly what to do.
19. TURN YOUR PHONE OFF, WAIT 60 SECONDS, AND THEN PLUG IT INTO A POWER SOURCE (NOT YOUR PC). IT WILL VIBRATE. AFTER IT DOES, HOLD VOLUME UP AND THE POWER BUTTON TO ENTER RECOVERY. WHEN YOU'RE IN THE STOCK RECOVERY, SELECT "Reboot to Bootloader". YOU SHOULD NOW BE IN DOWNLOAD MODE. NOW, CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO YOUR PC VIA MTP-COMPATIBLE USB-CABLE.
20. IF ODIN DETECTS YOUR PHONE, IT SHOULD SAY "Added!".
21. IF ALL IS A WELL, SET YOUR PHONE DOWN IN A PLACE IT WON'T BE MOVED OR KNOCKED-OVER, MAKE SURE THE CABLE IS PROPERLY IN BOTH ENDS (PC AND PHONE), PRESS "START", AND DON'T TOUCH YOUR PHONE UNTIL IT'S DONE.
22. IF ALL GOES AS THEORIZED, YOUR PHONE SHOULD BOOT UP AFTER AWHILE, AND IT SHOULD BELIEVE THAT IT IS A A536B (because it technically is: the only difference between models are the bands they use for cellular-reception).
23. SET UP ONLY WI-FI, AND DON'T SET-UP ANY SECURITY. DO NOT SIGN INTO YOUR GOOGLE OR SAMSUNG ACCOUNT. GO TO SETTINGS, GO TO "ABOUT PHONE", GO TO "SOFTWARE INFORMATION", AND TAP "Build Number" UNTIL DEVELOPER OPTIONS ARE ENABLED.
24. SAME THINGS AS LAST TIME: TURN ON USB DEBUGGING, DISABLE ADB AUTHORIZATION TIMEOUT, ENABLE 3GPP AT COMMANDS, AND SET THE DEFAULT CONFIGURATION TO "TRANSFERRING FILES".
25. REBOOT YOUR PHONE.
26. GO BACK TO DEVELOPER OPTIONS, AND SCROLL UNTIL YOU SEE "OEM UNLOCK". IF ALL GOES AS PLANNED, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TURN IT ON. AFTER TURNING IT ON, BOOT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE BY POWERING OFF, WAITING A MINUTE, HOLDING BOTH VOLUME BUTTONS (DO NOT HOLD THE POWER BUTTON) WHILE PLUGGING IT INTO YOUR PC VIA MTP-COMPATIBLE CABLE. IT SHOULD BOOT UP IN DOWNLOAD MODE.
27. WHEN IN DOWNLOAD MODE AND CONNECTED TO PC, HOLD THE VOLUME-UP BUTTON TO ACCESS THE BOOTLOADER-UNLOCK MENU, AND THEN HOLD VOLUME-UP AGAIN WHEN PROMPTED TO UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER. PROCEED EVEN IF IT SAYS ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE ERASED: THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED. WAIT FOR YOUR DEVICE TO REBOOT AND WHATNOT.
28. SUCCESS! (HOPEFULLY!)
29. IF YOU DO GO BACK TO A536W FIRMWARE (I don't think phone-calls and whatnot will work on an incompatible CSC, so you might have to), I HAVEN'T LOOKED INTO IT MUCH, BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND FLASHING THE "BL" FILE, AS THAT'S THE BOOTLOADER FILE AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A HARDBRICK OR CORRUPTION OR SOMETHING. BE CAUTIOUS. WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO DO IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH.
