can i install this update directly? i am currently on nougat 7.0
Will the carrier still unlock if I installed on my S8 active?
Still no 9.0 for S8 Active T mobile, G892U
Any ideas guess when 9.0 will arrive for T mobile S8 Active, in my experience At&t were the slowest to roll out the update, turns out whichever phone I switch to becomes the slowest.
Worst update cause when I Open any game my phone goes hot :/

NOT WORTH
I have to re-install Oreo yesterday. Too many issue, unstable, even after 3 small updated of Pie, the same issues had not resolved.
Android 9 had removed many good things from Oreo. I swear, not worth!

How do I update my phone?
I'm new to Odin and Samsung updating, I have done some Lineage OS builds in the past though. I have an SM-G892A that is stuck on android 8.0.0 G892AUCS3BRG1. How do I update it to a recent version without bricking it using Odin? I am willing to hard reset and clean any caches as necessary.

I'm still on Android 8.0, so Android 9 is not worth installing?
Purchasing an S8 Active that is arriving tomorrow 3/12/2020 cob, and I'm curious what OS to install using Odin, from what i'm reading i should just got to Oreo OS8.0 ?? I just want the best performance for the battery and basic features overall. Thanks!!

I cannot compare, because always used it on Pie, but there are a few bugs on Pie, that possibly does not exist on Oreo. 1st, USB audio streaming to car does not work, it is a common PIE problem not only on Samsung devices. 2nd, you cannot use bixby button as camera shutter, I don't know how is that on OREO, but on s7 active I can use the button as a camera shutter or whatever I want. Battery life i OK, but cannot compare as I have only PIE. Some says, that on Oreo there is a specific game mode that reduces heat during a heavy game, but I cannot neither confirm nor deny it, I don't use it for gaming. If you are not going to use the phone for streaming audio on your car by a usb cable, I recommend you to flash directly PIE. If you intend to listen to spotify by a usb cable on your car, stick with OREO. Good luck.
Does anyone have the latest G892AUCU5CTA2 from att, please?

Yes, for sure, I forgot about 7.1
Major OS 7.0 for S8 - A, 7.1 - B (skip for S8), 8.0 - C
R - 2018 year
A - January
0-9/A-F - build number
Knowing samsung if its released to some european country today it'll hit america in around a month, and canada in 2 months, then a month later the s9 is released... thanks samsung.
I wish Samsung would fix their update scheme. There is Android Fragmentation, then there is Android Samsung Fragmentation. Why is the Galaxy Tab A 2016 getting the January security update and my unlocked S8 is on November...
Also the latest Oreo Beta is on December, I know security updates are only small but as has been seen on the January update with the Pixels they can cause issues, so I would be sceptical to an Oreo release even being up to date.
Samsung needs to stop carriers turning their phones into bloated messes. My phone, before I debranded, came with 17 applications installed by the carrier, none of which I have any use for or have used!
It really isn't that hard to get this right, and it's what we are all asking for! Simplification and transparency, not waiting and waiting and waiting! Some customers with Note 8's in the UK are still on August Security Patch. That's what £800 gets you, negligence.

I just downloaded it from here (Snapdragon only!) : https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48927/1488/SS-G950USQS2BQL1-to-U2CRA1-UP
Boot into recovery and install update.zip.
I haven't flashed it yet as I don't want to lose root.

Do you know if the version.xml (not version.test.XML) update in real-time? Thats mean, would I be able to see a new firmware when Samsung pushes a new update to my device?
I see they have jumped back to CRAB version from CRAL in the test server. Wonder if that is in prep for the release to beta testers.

Whole set of Bixby got updated. Is that a sign to prepare the phone for an Oreo upgrade?
Which OS will be wise to use on Nokia 3 by Nokia, Android Oreo 8.0 Full Version or Android Oreo Go Edition?
I say Oreo Go as it is lighter and since the January security patch update my phone has been extremely slow.

IDT nokia 3 would get 8.0 update
first they postpone the o update date
then even at 7.1.1 phone extremely lags and hang a lot
then they skipped 7.1.2 update
and still open beta lab is not available

Yes why don't they directly provide us with the Android 8.1 Go Edition which would increase the battery life and performance of Nokia 3.

Yes you can but not officially.
I got android 8.0.0 from beta labs and we can say that there is some improvement in performance....but there are also some issues like Camera app not capturing the vedio even it was not switching to vedio mode but i fixed it and now the camera app is also updated and working fine. Some issues like battery is draining a little bit faster than on 7.1.1 but we can say that there is surely an increase in performance than it was on 7.1.1 which was toooo lagy?
Please me too i want to unlock my bootloader too on my device NOKIA 2 TA-1039 ? I WANT SO MUCH PLEASE ANY ONE HELP ME
Samsung started rolling out the much-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ last week. As promised, the update was first released to members of the beta program before it was rolled out to non-beta devices earlier this week. The update had only been sent out in a handful of markets but in a rather unexpected turn of events, Samsung has stopped the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update release..

yep, that was rather weird, almost felt like the finger to the community or users,
not sure what is all behind this rather unconventional name though
Well, it looks like anyone on Carrier Branded firmware (me) is in for a long wait, if a problem has been found in the firmware, it will set everyone back.

What abot people who have already updated to oreo? (Like me)
I've used the method with odin (from aql5 to crap and flashed update.zip on sd). Mine it's fine, i've only some lags in volume panel

According to the post, it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who has already updated. It would be ideal if they let people know why though.
Well, ive already flashed trough Odin the Spain PHE version into my Portuguese phone using the tutorial to make the necessaries workarounds.
So far im very happy.
The phone is very stable and much more fluid and quick than Nougat
Nothing to complaint so far!!!
Now I know the reason why it is lablled as CRAP.
They probably want to prevent rolling back to nougat bootloader for those that use that loophole to root and not have to wait 7 days for oem lock to appear.

it's a shame to samsung, we consumers pay a fortune for a mobile phone, and we have to wait 2 years for an OS update
i missing my nexus´s my father phone (nexus 5x ) have oreo 8.1 ...unbelievable lolllllol

The last 5 characters of the firmware version are: numeric for BL version, alphanumeric for the phone’s Samsung Experience/major update (C means third major update to the initial release of the phone), alphanumeric for the year (Q is 2017, R is 2018), alphanumeric for month (technically alphabetic, A to K), and alphanumeric for non-test-build of the given month.
So 1CRAP is: bootloader v1, third major release, 2018, january, P release.

Apparently the only reason they stoped the rollout of oreo was that it was causing some devices to reboot. That's what I've been reading has anyone had that problem?

It's been more than a week and I have zero issues here. Funny to see so much whining.
I really want to root and I am searching online since 4 days but couldn't find any clear information that i can fallow (or because of my lack of knowledge)
I don't care if i need to downgrade, or give up from "fancy" features. All i want a control on a device that i pay thousand $.
So my s8+ has:
One UI version : 1
Android Version: 9
Baseband Version: G955WVLU5CSC1 with BELL
I am new to rooting but big supporting of Open software, and idea of meaning of actually owning a device.
Please help, or any direction.
Thanks.
I have been dreaming there would have a rooting method since 2017 ( I got the same phone as you but from Telus - I paid off and now switched to Rogers). As far as I know, since our phones' bootloader can't be unlocked, we can kiss goodbye for rooting. I told myself that being a two years old phone, if there would have a method it would have been surfaced. This S8+ would be my last Sam**** phone, I am preparing to sell it on eBay and switch to something like OnePlus ( they are the most easy phone to root).

After you get safe strap you can then do some magic a hacks and acheive a rooted nougat system. Again you cannot root oreo or pie with this method. But it does allow you to do 1 of 3 options. Root with nougat and rev 5 combo bootloader , install a oreo system and rev 5 oreo bootloader, or install pie with rev 5 bootloader. As of right now all 3 systems have a rev 5 bootloader

Yeah, I'm in no rush. I've tried out Android 10 on other devices and liked it, except for the utterly stoooooooopid way they f'd up recents!!!!, although I'm not sure about OneUI 2. Mainly, I still need to be able to use XprivacyLua, thus EdXposed, thus Magisk, so...
I was kinda hoping that there would be some updates to DeX....I enjoy using DeX, but it can sure use some refinements.
Can this firmware be flashed onto a currently XAR wifi only model? Or is it only workable on the Lte model?
tab s6 WIFI android 10!!!
For Samsung Tab s6 WIFI version NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where to download?
Will the Tab S6 support up to Android 12, or should we just expect til' Android 11?
If Samsung keeps his policy of two major updates only, then definitely 11.

Question, I just got the Tab S6 (t-mo) variant, but have it running on a VzW mvno. I'm pretty sure I won't get any official updates so wanted to know if this update can be applied? I'm concerned because mine shows SM-T867 and this shows 865. I've done adb updates on other devices just not too sure on this since I just got it a few days ago.
Hi
Is anyone able to share the zip file, I have been trying to download on frija for last 2 days. Download always stops halfway through or finishes prematurely.
Thanks
