Looking a the picture of the V50 on verizon's website, it doesn't look like it has the three pins for connecting the external display. Does anyone have a Verzion V50 that can confirm that the pins are there? The V50 seems like a decent phone, but what really sets it apart is going to be that second display option. Just want to make sure it still exists before looking at getting it.
I really didn't think or care about a second display when I purchased it so maybe it works different but definitely no pins on mine.
My 4G signal isn't that impressive either if that might matter to you. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I keep it. I want something larger than my V30 but there isn't anything else out there that interest me.

From what I understand - the socket to hold the front camera is indeed on our beloved HTC Fuze units.
My question is this:
1. Can we order the part from HTC?
2. It looks like it would be easy enough to install (just cut a hole where it should be) - but what about device drivers and such?
I see that there IS indeed someone out here that has a unit with a front camera - perpahs we can get the drivers off his unit or extract them from a ROM that uses this?
Thoughts....suggestions...???
Thanks!
Not worth it if you ask me..... finding the part is going to be a btch....
better off simply buying an unlocked Touch Pro and enjoying a nicer keyboard layout while you're at it
hmmm...well interesting thoughts. My only issue with that is a) I'm on ATT so a touch pro isn't going to help me out and b) I thought the sprint version of this unit didn't have the front camera either???
I haven't had the guts to actually take my fuze apart yet - I wonder if that camera is acutally there and just simply covered up by the case. My guess is that it's not so they could save the 20 cents on the part..haha.
Tell ya what though - I'm getting sick and tired of these USA carriers ripping us off. The sprint one doesnt have the FM radio - none appear to have the front camera - the verizon didn't have the gps until recently...like WTF they keep selling us these bull**** crippled devices for? Blow 100's of bucks on these units and then the damn carrier turns off or removes all the cool stuff in em? geeeze! Its enough for me to sit down and write a letter to my senator and complain about these unfair practices....
Edit: Ok I just sent an email to HTC asking for the part number and if they would sell me the part - so we'll see.
Also - can anyone clear this up - which versions of the phone actually DO have the front camera? I've seen some websites that compare specs but they seem inaccurate as the website also said the sprint one had an FM radio ability and the fuze did not....
no american phone will have a front camera. they restrict whatever they can to save money. most notably the amount of stuff on the iphone limited to wifi only because att says so. att does do video share but since it takes it from the wrong camera, they hope people will buy the service and never use it. if they put on a front facing camera people would be doing anything they could to use it for free on their network. they would have to pay extra for the bandwidth used by their customers and get nothing back. that doesnt sound very american. the unlocked touch pro doesnt work on american gsm 3g so it would be useless to try to do video with it. and cutting apart your fuze will probably do alot of damage to your touch screen. you will break it, dont try.
"... that doesnt sound very american...."
No it does not. But guess what! I'm willing to trash 3 or 4 units to get it to work..and belive me I will. I have the part # now and have 6 front cameras on the way. ($56US) and they will be here next wednesday.
What DOES sound "ameican" is gettin the **** to work! arrrg!

lol I must say that this man is a true american ... I in no way condone what you are doing though.
actually i am surprised they dont have mini usb camera's that we can just plug in to the phone yet. That should be cheaper and less work
Explain me please....
Can anybody explain which are the models that allows video calls. I leave in Argentina, bought my touch Pro in Paraguay and as long as I can see this one does have the front camera. When I try ta make a video call a Warning say to me:
"The 3G network is not available. Do you want to make a voice call instead."
A this time I have a beautiful "G" icon showing at the top off the screen and the Wap conexion icon also Showing the "G" letter and full five bars strong signal meter. Thank you.

It may have been an idea to also purchase a new TOUCH pro flex cable for the screen aswell?
I haven't personally opened a TP up but my understanding is the front camera fits onto the same mebrane which connects to the front speaker/light sensor and the screen and as such, it is likely the Fuze may not have the socket soldered on for the camera?
good luck!

not to sound rude, but the ones that allow video calls witht he front camera are the ones that has the front camera. Just take a look at the actual product, if there is indeed a camera on the top right of the screen (where the ATT logo would've been), then you should be able to do video calls (again, considering that the network you're in has the capabilities.) Good luck
if you get it in, good for you. i wonder how much support there will be though. if the device hasnt removed the ability to use that from a bios-ish point. but if you get it in and it doesnt work, you can pretend you have a non american touch pro by looks alone.
i wonder how much a mirror costs...
Over 9000! pennies.....
Hoping one of you might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have a Nexus One that I would like to use a MicroSim on. I have tried two different brand of adapters, and found that both of them are too "think" to fit into the Nexus. What happens is, after getting about 1/4th of the way in, it gets really tight. At that point, it can be forced in, which I did up to about half way. When I tried to take it back out, I had to use pliers afterward.
So, obviously I am worried about breaking the Nexus is I try to go further with these ones I have bought. The Nexus still works, and is wonderful with a normal Sim. But I would really like to get this Micro working.
Also, just as it is important to note, I have made sure I am inserting it the first direction, the notch is in the right place, etc. It is really coming down to how think the adapter is.
What I think I need here is as thin an adapter as I can find. Anyone have any suggestions on one to try, and where I might be able to buy it? Also, if anyone has successfully used a microsim adapter I would love to hear it.
Thanks
Jim
Why dont you just cut up a plastic card? just print out a stencil and cut yourself an adapter

Thats not a bad idea, but frankly I suck so bad at making anything by hand it is normally easier, and higher success rate, to just buy something most of time.
On the other hand, based off of the amount of information I have been able to dig up on this (in other words, next to nothing), I might just have to give that a shot.
Thanks
Jim
Why do you want to use a micro sim card, can't you just ask your carrier to give you a fullsized sim card?
Well since there are only about 2 devices that are popular which use micro sims, hes probably sharing a plan between his nexus with an iphone/ipad.
Both of these are tested and working on my Nexus One. The Amazon one being a more secure fit for the card. The links are to the stores actually purchased from so should be exactly the same.

http://negrielectronics.com/mini-uicc-microsim-adapter.html
I switch the SIM back and forth with my IP4 and Nexus One all the time and both are solid. No flames please. I'm still an Android guy. The IP4 was purchased cheap from someone who didn't like it.
If its too think maybe try some sandpaper on the adapter? It really shouldnt take much sanding to get it to fit

That should be your first plan. Sand it a little then if that doesnt work spend the money to get the other adapter
+1 on the Amazon one.
I use it myself and it works perfectly. Much better than others I've used.
FYI - I bought a total of three of the adapters from Amazon. The one linked earlier in this thread is the only one that would fit.
So thanks for the link to it!
And yeah, I was lazy and never sanded anything down. Sorry, but my luck I would screw that up. I am not handy in anyway at all.
Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone.
Hey all,
Quick question here... Firstly, yes, I am a noob. I have an HTC One X on AT&T. My brother actually helped me root it and I'm running the Xi40 ROM I found in these developer forums.
Anyway, about 2 weeks ago, I dropped my precious One X, and cracked the screen. The LCD underneath was fine. I was considering replacing the screen/ digitizer myself, but after plenty of reading, it was just too much for me. So I had a local repair shop replace it. When they replaced the screen/ digitizer, they broke my original LCD, so they replaced the the whole combo (being screen/ digitizer/ and LCD). Well they actually put a international version of the digitizer in my device, and I know, because instead of saying "AT&T" at the top, it says "HTC"...
The replacement doesn't sit totally flush to the device, but I can push it in and it seems like there's space for the screen to fit it. Basically was the repair done wrong, or is the international screen actually different from the US version that's disallowing it to fit flush to the device?
I'll try and get pictures up later if anyone is interested.
Cheers.
I dont think the screens have any differences between the international version and the ATT version so maybe they just did the procedure wrong

Thanks for the insight. Currently I'm just trying to push it into place or something, hoping it will snap in. Any cases you guys would recommended that wraps over the sides to maybe help the screen stay flush?

He didn't do the best job putting it in, then again a lot of us got our phones with the screen not sitting flush as well.
and it isn't necessarily the T3 international version, the Rogers version (which is the same S4 variant) also says Htc on top. Either way though, you're fine.

That may not be true. The Teg3 One X uses panels from Acer and Sharp whereas the XL uses Sony panels exclusively. It seemed kind of odd but if they are actually sized differently it makes sense.

Ohhh, well in that case maybe that actually is whats causing OP's problem
hi,im from dominican republic.
I bought an AT&T One x as-is, with a partial-green screen. this screen supoust to be the factory screen for this model as mentioned in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164760
but my phone doesn´t show anything in the screen. all the other functions works : the phone turns on,vibrate, sound, charge, and when i plug it on the pc, the pc shows:: htc android device---ready to use. but i cant get into the storage(i think it is something about phone config, not an issue..) even made a touch digitizer test. and it works too.
the seller said me that the phone came from factory with the green flex screen(sharp version) but in the thead say that at&t screens are manufactured by sony(partial green screens)
i tested the partial grenn screen with other at&t one x and it worked perfect.but not in my phone. T.T
conclusion question:
Is it possible that some at&t one x´s has been manufactured with sharp screens or is just a hardware issue from my htc?????
sorry if bad english. if you don´t understand something i would try to make you understand xd..
Simple answer, not all at&t One X models have the same screen.

well mi housing say model: pj83100
The model doesn't really matter, there are up to three different screens that came fitted to that model. To be honest I think you've been duped. I think the previous owner has possibly fitted the wrong screen to the phone. Unfortunately the only way to know which screen to install is to know which screen was originally installed, which you don't.

ok, thanks again man..
but for example if the htc was manufactured with green flex screen.... does it will work if i intall partial green or full yellow? are these screens compatible one each other?
No, you can only replace the screen with a screen with an identical flex cable.

and what about the usb connection. can it be a configuration on the phone that makes it only accept charge?
It can probably be done, I'm not sure how, or why.

Sorry, I know this is a developer site, but I'm at a loss here.
I have a Verizon M8 for Windows that had a dodgy touch screen. Everything else worked fine. I purchased an LCD/digitizer and installed it. LCD wont come on. Phone powers on, syncs to PC, I can navigate around by taking screen shots and viewing on the PC, so I know the phone is working ok.
So, I purchased a 2nd screen, thinking the 1st one might be faulty. Same thing. No LCD. If I plug the original LCD in, it lights up fine (I cracked it removing the digitizer, so can't re-use it).
Next, I purchased a good, tested 2nd hand motherboard (Verizon, For windows) thinking I may have damaged the LCD connector. Still no LCD display.
Does anyone know if the screens are specific to either the Verizon or Windows Phone versions? Or anything else I might be missing? I've been repairing phones for years (mostly iPhone, Samsung, Lumia) so I'm not new at this.
Regards.
I think you might have bought bad quality screens. Have you bought them off the same seller? you might want to return them. From my experience, the M8 lcd digitizers are interchangeable across carriers and OS versions(win/Andro).
I have not had any experience with other variants like M8s etc but screen from verizon sprint att fido chatr windows android are interchangeable

Thanks for your reply.
I purchased the screens new from two different suppliers. One was a chinese knock off, the other was a high quality OEM screen. Both were full LCD/touchscreen and front frame assemblies.
I can't believe that both are faulty. As an update, I bought a second hand screen from another Verizon WP M8, and it works perfectly. I'm going to purchase an android version M8 with damaged screen and see if either/both of the new ones work on that.

I replaced my M8's display twice. Bought them from Etradesupply.com. The parts that are rated S+ are original OEM parts direct from them. No third partyish crap going on.

Thanks. I'll give them a try.
I have tried to install even original (stock) LCD from ANDROID phone to WINDOWS phone - it does not work.
But screen from WINDOWS phones works perfectly on any ANDROID phone.
I have an idea that maybe hard reset or flashing RUU will make it work, and I tried: after hard reset even native LCD stopped to work.
Friend, did you tried to flash phone with new screen installed?
