Lately I've been frequently using the "Power saving mode" on my Huawei P Smart (2018) updated to EMUI 9.1.
I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to make a quick shortcut, but I can't find a solution. I've already searched on Google, on Youtube, on Play (via some shortcut creation apps), but nothing found.
From the drop-down menu I did not understand why Huawei has provided only the Ultra power saving that, objectively, how many frequently use or how much it requires a fast connection?
The only way seems to have to go into settings->battery->power saving mode.
Do you confirm that there is no other way?
[sorry for my bad english]

I didn't know those shortcuts: but were available on EMUI 8, not on EMUI 9.1 (I checked now on two different devices).

Hi all,
I just bought a S7 Edge International version and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to activate certain apps by pressing the home key 3 time or other methods?. I didn't root the device.
My main goal is to activate Privacy mode or hide apps before letting someone use my phone. I really don't want to use the drop down then have to toggle. Takes to long.
I replied to your other post. How often do people use your phone. Doesn't everyone have their own phone these days. I can't remember the last time someone asked to use my phone. HaHa.
For now u can always block certain apps from opening requiring fingerprint scan.
U can hide them in app drawer and use a slide in launcher to reach them quickly. Edge panel or app called swipe pad.

I actually use my phone for work and they flip the bill. There have been several times someone from work wanted to see my phone so they can look at drawling schematics on the job. I don't want them looking at my pictures of my family or going through my cloud service apps or seeing my Facebook apps which I don't use my real name. I don't even want them to know that I have these apps.
The cool thing about having a jailbroken iPhone with Protecti+ is I can hit my home button three times and it will make the apps I don't want to share disappear.
Maybe I can hide those apps on my SDCard or something.

How to add and remove files from Private Mode on the Galaxy S7
Private Mode supports several different media types including photos and videos. Follow these steps to add supported files to Private Mode:
After you enter Private Mode for the first time, a quick walkthrough will be given and you’ll need to enter a pin code. (The Pin Code will be required every time you enter Private Mode)
Turn Private Mode On. (Settings/privacy and safety)
Go to the photo or file that you want to hide and only make viewable in Private Mode.
Select the file (s) and then select on the Overflow menu button in the upper right.
Select on Move to Private.

Thanks for the instructions. I was in private mode yesterday but I wasn't walked through anything but putting a password in.
Are you able to hide apps in private mode? Is there a easier way to activate / deactivate private mode instead of hitting the toggle every time?

When activated you'll find it when swiped your hands from the top
How to disable Private Mode on Samsung Galaxy S7
Using two fingers from the top of the screen, swipe down to find a list of options.
From the list of options, select Private Mode.
Now the Galaxy S7 should go back to normal mode.
You can hide picture and files but to hide installed apps and more you’re probably going to have to resort to third-party apps, I'll recommend Hide It Pro which I've used for years. You can protect or hide individual files including media files like videos, audios, notes etc... but small plugin need to be downloaded

I think true wifi calling and Visual Voicemai is a provider based as for Samsung Pay (BTU Firmware) which is UK may support it but I don't really know. You can create a new thread and someone who may have the same problem can help you
The "users" feature introduced in android lollipop (though not perfect) would solve your problem, every user has their own password and setup (they even don't share apps installed), like an user for a pc/mac, sadly samsung get rid of that feature with touchwiz
Knox (downloadable from play) should get what you want: all apps you want gets in a secure workspace and require fingerprint to be used. For photos and videos you can use private mode or some apps like keepsafe
I read a few threads here..the following are my queries...
hi all. im a new user of a huawei handset and a bit confused with few things..
1- notification sounds for telegram/whatsapp are inconsistent...sometimes i hear the notifications other times they dont sound off..the other important point is, my messages dont appear until i open the app (or click on it to open)....( there a few threads on this issue here and it seems like the problem has not been solved as i tried some of the offered solutions but didnt work)...
2- in the app drawer mode, how can i get the google voice command widget (ok google) on the screen? the widget disappeared when i went to the app drawer mode and it was not available in the widgets section.
3- there is an app called notepad which is huawei based i assume but its mainly for reminders. is there another app by huawei dedicated for taking notes which synchronizes with outlook??
4- does the app store close when downloading a large file? it happened to me everytime with certain large apps. anyone experienced the same? maybe a bug.
5- a HTC related question as someone may have tried it. is it possible to install the APK for blinkfeed on the mate 9? i tried but didnt work...anyone tried it with any success?
6. the final question i have... how do you get to see message notifications on your lock screen like on HTC phones for example??!! Is a similar function available ala HTC??!!
in general, the phone is very good. it has some nifty gestures which are actually handy and can be great in reducing time needed for doing things like the double knuckle action for screen freeze. also, the split screen and cut. very useful. didnt even know about it until i bought it!!!
as opposed to samsung gimmicks those are useful on the mate 9.
i ordered the Chinese version as i wanted 128gb + 6 gb ram.
thanks and advance.
> 5- a HTC related question as someone may have tried it. is it possible to install the APK for blinkfeed on the mate 9? i tried but didnt work...anyone tried it with any success?
I think theres an HTC launcher floating around. Have you checked apkmirror.com?
For Blinkfeed you'd need HTC Sense's framework. I found this, https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...blinkfeed-plugins-devices-08-03-2015-t3049438
Edit: It's post #2
Thanks for the HTC tip. Will try it afterwards
I found a solution to my second query. I deleted and reinstalled google now and somehow both google widgets appeared so its all good now.
However, the two with my highest concerns are queries 1 & 4.
I installed the apk for blinkfeed but the one for the social media were not available from mega!!
How do i actually use the sense/blinkfeed now i installed it??
App Store crash when downloading a large file
This is due to you didn't turn on storage access for google play store.
I don't know why the default permission for storage was off, but apparently if you turn that back on, it will fix the app store crash bug.

Thanks. I forgot to update the above post. I have done that and it was fixed.
Also the OK Google thing seems to be working after tweakings in the permissions etc.
I couldn't get the HTC blink feed to work. It seems like I have it but I don't know where to go to activate it!!
The big problem seems to be the notifications.
Hello, i'm not sure if this the correct section where to ask, and in the case i apologize. Anyway i've a huawei p9 lite where background apps does noit work properly. I tried every single possible change in the phone setting, but it did not solve anything. Since those apps are really important to me i'm considering buying a new smartphone.. So i am asking wich brand of smartphones does not have this type of problems? thanks

Hi, i already did this, as i said i tried every single possible change of the phone settings, followed tutorial on internet and so... but it's probably a bug of EMUI 5.0, so i'm going to change phone.

I'm a bit confused, you mention on the title your phone doesn't kill background apps, "doesn't" so it keeps them alive, running.
Then your posts describes your background apps not working properly, sorry sounds kinda confusing to me. Do you want to keep them alive? or kill the apps so your phone saves memory, battery and resources and thus your currently running app has access to all the power?
Check battery settings.
Many Huawei models allow you to specify background apps (based on energy consumption).
Developer options > kill activities, it eliminates activities as soon as the user leaves them.
Limit of background processes (also on developer options) lets you specify how many running processes you want to allow.
Also, many phones have a quick access option (you can call it via diff ways) my Huaway uses the square shape (on some phones it's the "home button") anyway you can press it and a list of running apps will show, you can kill them all there.
Another options to kill them if that's what you want is using the Huawey phone optimizer or phone/device manager, it lets you "optimize" your phone, free some space and also choose some energy plan from ULTRA (dumb phone mode), to smart (default) and also full mode increasing cpu speed.
Good luck.
I've changed my main browser from Opera to Kiwi but still retain Chrome for certain functions that I like on it but don't use it often because it's a battery killer. However, every day I have to reset my default because Chrome keeps on opening links even though it's not set as the default in settings. This morning was the most annoying as it now showed up as the default even though I didn't change anything. How and why is this happening and how can I prevent it reoccurring?

Uninstall the thing! Microsoft's mobile edge browser is excellent.
or
try Settings>More settings>App Manager>Chrome>Storage> clear data and clear cache.

I don't want to uninstall it and I don't want to use Edge. I use Chrome for specific tasks so can't clear data. Opera is my main browser. The question is why is this happening on Funtouch 9? I don't have this problem on my P10 with emui 9.1.

You haven't done what they told you too, it's normal the problem persists....
Although you don't use it, it might be causing some problems that you cannot anticipate.
Try the following:
-> go to acessibility settings and see if you have any of them "off" that should be "on"
-> go to the battery consuption ranking and enable the browsere that you like, disabling the others
-> go to default browser and change it to what you want
-> restart the phone and see what is your default browser

-I haven't done that because he's talking nonsense.
-Accessibility isn't relevant to this issue.
-Battery consumption isn't relevant as Chrome isn't there since I seldom use it.
-Default browser is set to Opera both within Opera and the phone menu but Chrome somehow changes to the default on its own.
I don't have this problem on any of my other devices. It can only be a bug with Funtouch.

If you work in the area you understand that sometimes unrelated pieces cause bugs and software problems that you can't anticipate...we are just trying to rule those out
Accessibility might be relevant if you have some app that has the permissions to change default launchers (such as NovaLauncher, etc) and might be able to re-default your browser app. Check it
Every app is on the background power saver definition until you choose otherwise. Just go there and check Opera and uncheck Chrome, try it ffs...
if you want some help don't just post reasons not to try it....try it and then report the results so we can help you further...if you knew the stupidities that I had to do in my NEX to get some softwares going wright (Button remapers, cursor controls, automate,...) you wouldn't be arguing that "that is stupid or unrelated"

I'll answer your last statement first.
-I'm using the international version so any hoops you jumped through on your Chinese version don't really apply to my phone.
-Chrome isn't in my background power saver since it's regarded as a system app. I've forced stoppand cleared data on it and stopped auto updates but it still rears it's head again.
- None of my current accessibility settings can do this, so that's ruled out.
I have most of my devices set up identically and have used similar setups on all my phones ranging from Asus to ZTE (A-Z), I've used a lot of phones with my default browser being Opera mostly. This started after the Pie update.
Whilst I appreciate the help, the other guy told me to uninstall Chrome when I explicitly said I don't want to get rid of it. So yeah, he was way off the mark.
Well I think I've found a workaround but it's not really a solution. I've kept Opera locked in recent apps and it defaults there now. This is despite Chrome still showing up as the default on it's own. Very strange behavior.
Thanks for the input but if anyone has a solution or explanation it would be much appreciated.

I think your problem is specific to your device, I have been using Opera as my default browser since few days and it's still my default browser and I let chrome auto update and also use it regularly but it does not effect Opera.

I think you're right.
Hi,I was using the AndroidAuto app on my OP8 (my car has bluetooth but no AA compatibility) it started as soon as the phone connect to the car bluetooth and everything worked great.
After updating to OOS12 I knew that AndroiAuto app for smartphone would be gone, but it should be replaced with the driving mode of Google Assistant: problem is, I can't find a way to start it up.
I read tons of article, all of them nearly identical, on how to start the driving mode, but nothing work for me.
Most "interesting" thing is I don't have the exact menu as found in those articles: I don't have some specific voices in GoogleAssistant menu or GoogleMaps menu.
Any suggestion???
Since there is a way to officially add a shortcut to GoogleAssistantDrivingMode (this is what I'm talking about: https://9to5google.com/2021/12/02/assistant-driving-mode-shortcut/ ) is there a way I can ad the same shortcut using Nova for example?
I tried add NovaActivities widget, pointing com.google.android.apps.gsa.staticplugins.opa.morris2.drivingscreen.DrivingScreenActivity but it only open the support web page https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/10217503
