Serial number changer not working - Xposed - General Questions and Answers

Hey everyone,
I am using the Xposed serial number changer but it will not change my serial number. I entered the serial number and clicked update/apply and it said that the serial number was saved and will be updated upon reboot, however when I rebooted my device the serial number had not updated. Is there any way around this? I am running android 8.0 oreo on an SM-G950F (but I used buildprop to change the phone to an SM-G975U).
As always, any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rifts

since exposed is pretty old and not really made for android pie i would suggest you to move on and look for a magisk module that can do the trick

[Q] Where is the OS version number stored?

Hello, I have a Samsung Taylor (developer device) stuck in version 7003, and I'm trying to force-update it.
So far, I have patched ChevronWP7.Updater to apply the update if it detects that the phone version is 7.0.7003.0 (by default it only works if version is 7.0.7004.0). Everything works well, the program says the device was updated successfully, but when it reboots, it's still stuck in 7003.
So, I was hoping if anyone knows the registry key/system file where the current OS version is stored, to try and change the value there.
Sorry, there is literally NO WAY to update the Taylor or the Panther. Changing the OS version, unbranding or even changing the model number (i've changed mine from GW910 to LG-C900) through the registry won't force the update.
But to answer your question the key is "ROMVersion" (string) which is located in
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the version number in the registry to force an update? I'm stuck on 7003 on a Samsung Focus and want to try anything that will remotely give me a chance to upgrade this phone.
I've googled all over the place but haven't found a dump of hklm\system\platform\devicetargetinginfo or any other relevant areas of the registry. Hard with the SamsungRegistry app too, as you can only find/write to keys that you know the path to.

I found the WP7 Root Tools app, and I'm using that now to poke around the registry.
I gave up on this last night after poking around in the registry for 2-3 hours. There was nothing that specifically identified my OS version as 7003.
your in the wrong section , go to the developers section and look around there , no need to google, all the info you need is in there!good luck!

[Q] Wild Puzzle ROM

Hi All,
I installed "0001_WildPuzzleROM_v0.8.zip" in my HTC.
i have following doubt on the same.
My doubt is when i go to software information it says : Android verson 2.2.1" instead of "Wild puzzle ROM v0.8"
I followed the same steps given here and it's booting with transparent lock screen and battery icon changed to round type and also ROM manager is there under all apps and also super user icon also there.
Can some one please tell me why in software information it's not showing as wildpuzzle rom please.
.
How can i cross verify wildpuzzle rom is installed and working ok...
Thanks in advance...
It's some field below "Android Version" which will show you the WildPuzzle name(Don't really remember the exact name of that field, I think it is "Software Number").
Another easy way to verify - Load up any Live Wallpaper within the Sense Launcher. If it does load, it is WildPuzzle.
I am getting the following information:
Android Version:
2.2.1
Base band Version
13.45.55.24H_3.35.15.31
Kernel Version
2.6.32.21-g8f75634
[email protected] 18-2 #1]
Tue Dec 21 00:48:06 CST 2010
Build Number
2.34.75.1 CL306462 release-keys
Software number
2.34.75.1
Browser Version
Webkit 3.1
But when i tried loading LIVE wallpaper - "Liquid Particles Live Wall"... It's loading fine without any issue.
Then I guess danne forgot to implement this in v0.8. Shouldn't matter though, because you do seem to have the ROM installed properly in any case.

Google is your friend. Let me google that for you. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=android+change+build+number
However, you need to be rooted and modify build.prop. BE CAREFUL, you may damage your installation. Check these threads:

Hi,
AFAIK it could be done via Xposed Module named SIM Number Changer. I use that module to apply my phone number to my SIM card.

AOSP N - Jiayu S3 (Empty IMEI)

Hello all.
I've installed the 7.1.1 ROM on my Jaiyu S3 phone, as described here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/jiayu-s3/development/rom-unofficial-aosp-n-jiayu-s3-t3451923
(I also root it via SuperSU)
The ROM works great (thanks team M.A.D!), but after flashing it my IMEI is now empty (and as a result I can only make emergency calls).
I've installed MTK Engineering Mode (hoping to edit the IMEI through it), but it says "Cannot find EngineerMode App" when I try to use it (I understand that this is, perhaps, due to the ROM not including support for engineering mode yet).
I've tried using Chamelephon (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cryptotel.chamelephon), but it also doesn't work (it resets the phone after setting the IMEI, and when it reboots the IMEI is empty again).
I thought about editing the IMEI via one of many available Xposed extensions, but Xposed itself isn't available for 7.1.1 yet (see here - http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xposed-android-nougat-7-0).
So... I am at a bit of dead end at the moment. Can someone help?
Thanks!
