Hey guys,
I'm trying tog et my PS4 controller working via an otg cable it works just fine in the Steam link app, however it doesn't function at all in OOS or any Android games.
I'm running OOS 9.5.8 and rooted as well. Anyone have any luck? I'd prefer not to use Bluetooth as I use a wireless Sony adapter for my PC and wouldn't want to have to reconnect everytime :/ was thinking maybe there's a kernel that maybe has a built in driver?

Dang 54 views and no replies? Lol. I even tried using the Remote Play app of course it gives me an error in regards to root even though I have Magisk set to hide it.
Someone out there has to have used their PS4 controllers via an otg cable not bluetooth.
Been Googlibg for literally an hour.

ps4 remote play actually does work. just a little bit of work to get it to work.
Download the magisk module to enable support for it (search ps4 remote play in magisk)
when you install that then install the apk for remote play.
go back to magisk and hide the app and all use the option to hide magisk manager(4th one down in settings)
after that clear the ps4 remote play app data and it should work after that. although controller support isn't there.

I'll give that a try. Though the main reason I wanted to install that is some said it enabled the PS4 controller to work. Though if it doesn't work like you said then that might not be for me as I don't own a PS4 ?

I gave it a shot anyway just to see if it would enable the controller to work in Android and it still didn't work.

Sweet thanks! I'll have to try that out once I'm back on OOS. Sucks we can't dual boot roms yet.

There seem to be a few apps that allow a wii, ps3 or xbox controller work with Android devices. Anyone got one of these working with the P920 yet? I don't have a console so just wanted to buy a controller that will work on my phone. I've see a few youtube vids of phones connected to the TV and using a game controller and it looks like a great idea.
Pete
bluetooth stack not great on official ROM, hoping CM7 will sort that out
I have a PSXAXIX console but we need CM7 Rom which adds the needed Bluetooth protocol to get that app working.
Could anyone have one of these devices: Zeemote JS1, MSI Chainpus BGP100, Phonejoy and iControlPad (iCP), try this app and see if it works on our Optimus?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hexad.bluezime
I think this will work, and iControlPad looks a good choice.

I've ordered a zeemote off eBay to use with this app. I'll let you know how I get on. There is a YouTube video of one working on a LG 2X so it should work on the 3D. Search YouTube for "LG zeemote"

I can try MSI BGP 100 gamepad I'll write back if it works
The Sinaxis app does not work on stock Rom. Tried it out.
CM7 Supports the needed modules though.
The sinaxis app works on CM7 with Optimus 2X.
The app in the link is bluez IME and its getting rave reviews because its working on lots of phones without root!
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
Bluez IME doesn't work on my O3D... It installs detects my MSI BGP100 BT gamepad but when I try to set Bluez IME as input method phone shows missing UUID error.. and gamepad doesn't work (But it works on my Milestone with FroyoMOD.2.9.2)
Well, then we just have two choices:
1. Either we keep sending messages to LG to release an update that have the required blutooth protocols.
2. Or we just wait for CM7 ROM.
IT WORKS!
You need to pair with the device BEFORE you disable the keyboard or you can't type the access code. Also mapping the keys is a bit confusing. It works, just needs a bit of setting up.
Edit.....Seems a bit iffy. It lost the connection once on restarting it, and it took a bit of buggering around to connect it again.
Seems that you need to disconnect the device by selecting a keyboard again BEFORE you turn the device off? Apart from that it seems to work fine.

do you have the exact steps? youtube video does not explain any real details.
do you only have a zeemote js1?
if you have a wiimote can you try that?

Hey I just got the nexus player and side loaded kodi and figured some people might be wondering how to do it.
1. Set up nexus player on wifi and sign into google account
2. Go to play.google.com and install two apps: es file explorer and Chainfire's sideload launcher
3. Go to settings menu on your nexus player and then go the security and restrictions menu at the bottom. Enable unknown sources.
4. Download the x86 Kodi .apk from here: http://kodi.tv/download
5. Now you have a choice of how you want to load the apk on your Nexus player. I chose to upload the apk to my drive.google.com but you can also use USB on the OTG or transfer it over your network.
Edit: as suggested by Peef below, you can install chrome via play.google.com to your nexus player and then go to the link on your nexus player and download it directly onto your nexus player and go from there.
6. If you're using your google drive, upload the apk to google drive. Then go into ES file explorer and on the left hand side choose the "cloud" icon, then google drive, and then you sign into your account and you should see your google drive files and you can select the apk wherever you saved it.
7. Go through the install prompts to install Kodi.
That's it, you're done. If you want to set up your Kodi with some good plugins, check out the fusion installer here: http://www.tvaddons.ag/install-addons-kodi/
I was able to install it by downloading Chrome (Beta) via play.google.com, launch it with Chainfire's Launcher, then directly browse to kodi.tv/downloads
Use a bluetooth mouse/remote/keyboard for best results.
Thanks alot! Just got it installed, your instructions were perfect. :highfive: I didn't know about fusion and haven't used XMBC in a while. Glad to finally have it back.
Now I can get rid of my apple tv that had to always be jailbroken to get XMBC on there. Woowhoo. :silly:
Same thing I did. I have yet to get it to run though. This is my first time messing with this. Can I install fusion from XBMC?
figured it out...
I downloaded xbmc/kodi on my phone and sent it to my NP using es file explorer
Sweet! My NP arrives today and this will be my first step to do.
Thanks for the guide. I had trouble figuring out how to get the context menu to open with only the remote control, but I figured it out and thought I might share. If you install the Keymap Editor Add-On in Programs, you can map any button on the remote to the context menu globally. I chose the play/pause button on the remote.

interesting idea. That to me was the biggest down fall to the NP remote and xbmc. I had actually ordered (it is at home waiting on me) a fire tv remote to see if it will work with the NP since it has a menu button. But your solution should work just fine and you can use the center button to just bring up the onscreen menu to play/pause when needed.
Update: I just got home and my fire TV remote came in and it works really well with the nexus player and since there is a menu button it works great with xbmc with no fuss or remapping keys. I got the fire stick remote so I don't have voice on it so that is the only thing I don't know if would work on the voice fire TV remote though.
Im finding it pretty much unusable. Movies just stop amd buffer constantly. I have a fast connection too. Had the same problem on my Appple tv over wifi. Only remedy was ethernet which the player doesnt have. Ill probably be returning mine.

If you really want you can get a USB ethernet adapter I had one from a previous android box and it works on the nexus player,
- settings -> about, go to build on bottom and click build multiple times until it shows that you unlocked developer options
- settings -> preferences -> developer options -> debugging, turn USB debugging ON
Anyone having problems with the app exiting in the middle of watching something? Not like buffering or exiting to the XBMC home screen but the app completely quits and exits back to the NP home screen. It's happened to me a few times already I'll be in the middle of watching a video and after maybe 5 min it just stops and goes back to the home page, other times it plays the whole video fine. I turned off daydream in settings but it's still happening so Im not sure what's causing it.
Ive had it happen a couple of times. I still prefer to use Kodi over Vimu on my older GoogleTV
Yea I've had it restart a couple times as well but still more stable than my apple tv i think
XBMC has been crashing on me a lot. It just goes to the main menu (NP). Anyone else experiencing this?

Mine has been pretty stable when streaming over smb from my nas, but I have seen it crash back to the NP menus a few times when installing or playing with other kinds of services. I was having many more crashes on the 13.2 TV addons version, but the 14.1 beta has been more stable (with only a few select TV addons that I use enabled instead of the whole shebang.. don't know if that makes any difference).

To clarify, i want any sound coming from my PS3 to output through my phones speakers, and any sound i make will go to my PS3 through my phones microphone.
Anybody?
Here is how I got to work Spotify via vasting on my razer forge since even newest app would not detect it,new chromecasts and old ones are ok with it.
If you have amazon fire tv or fire tv stick or can use friends either device then all you need to do is log in with your amazon account and then extract spotify connect from fire stick or fire tv,then sideload it to your nexus player/shield/forge or sony android tv.
You also need to sideload amazon appstore (underground now) and log in with your account.
You will then be able to use spotify via casting from your phone tablet etc.
Take a look at my post on Razer Forums:

Enjoy!

What I can suggest that you make amazon account, download their appstore and download the spotify connect to your device and then you will be registered (at least add click to cart and purchase it for free) then hit me up and I will post APK for you.
It will work this way.

why not use Spoticast in the first place?
Anyway, this is all annoying and those are just cheap workarounds. We need this to work directly from the official Spotify app without any tinkering. As far as I can see, the Android TV Google Cast functionality has now been degraded to something you could call Google Cast Light ...or Google Cast 2nd Class. As both, a Spotify Premium and an Android TV user I hate to say I'm disappointed, especially since e.g. Deezer has been working without issues on Android TV for ages. Either I've missed it or neither Google nor Spotify have mentioned Android TV compatibility at all in this case. This is the beginning of Google Cast fragmentation...

Spotify Connect APK attached. Amazon Underground can be obtained from here.
works for one song and then fails. Songs play but no audio

Apparently upgraded. Do you have the apk for 0.2?
Why not just use the Spotify add-on in Kodi?
I´m also interested in latest APK.
Could someone please upload the file, I cannot download it "You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions. "
So far I've found two music players besides Google Music and Spotify that sync with Android Auto. They are RocketPlayer and JetAudio. I uploaded 5 gig of music to my phone in case I'm out of data range for Spotify. Spotify is my preference since the audio streaming bit rate is much better than itunes backups.

My favorite for local music is Sony Music. It takes a little work to get it installed and working though. First you have to find the app on XDA that has been altered to not check your build.prop for a sony device (there are several). I'm using the app from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps/app-xperia-app-stock-rom-t3263403
Then the problem is Android Auto will not work with a sideloaded app. To fix that you need ADB shell:
adb push Sonymusic.apk /sdcard/Download/Sonymusic.apk
adb shell pm install -i "com.android.vending" -r /sdcard/Download/Sonymusic.apk
adb shell rm /sdcard/Download/Sonymusic.apk
Skip the first command if its already on your phone. You need to use the phones package installer for this, so the apk needs to be on the phone somehow. Change the file paths and file names to suit your install.
This works with other sideloaded apps if you're into that sort of thing (Pandora, Spotify, etc) ahem
It's 2 min of work from a computer, but it's the best experience for me. I tried every Android Auto compatible music player I could find. Sony did it right IMO.

It should. In mine, spotify over usb (through Android Auto) sounds noticeably better than spotify over bluetooth in the same car. When you connect to Android Auto, my oem stereo also makes a bluetooth connection to the phone which confused me. Apparently bluetooth is still used for the HFP (hands free protocol ie phone calls) between the phone and headunit. All A/V traffic is supposed to be handled via USB.
Not sure about AOA. I haven't used a stereo that I could get usb audio from android phone to headunit successfully. Too bad iPhones work great with lots of radios via Lightning...
One HQ option to consider is Astell&Kern's aptX HD BT receiver.
https://www.worldwidestereo.com/pro...le-bluetooth-amplifier-with-dac-4vb100-cmbl01
My car's head unit is decent Pioneer, but bt audio sucks. I used to use a wire from iphone, but that does not work well from Pixel 2. So I got one of these and plugged it in to aux input. Way better sound quality than iphone wire ever delivered, despite it being BT. (Same goes for with headphones also.) If you are not familiar with them, A&K makes audiophile-quality sound gear.
Android allows you to have two BT connections at the same time. So I have one direct to car stereo for phone calls, and separate one for audio.
I use the Spotify app from phone to control it. (Tidal sounds a little better, but it's app is not nearly as car-friendly as Spotify, which lets you change songs without looking.)
Is it possible to modify any .apk to work to work with AA, I'm disappointed because I wanted to go give it a try after hearing good things, but If I can't use the player I desire it's kind of silly. I can handle trading in waze, but I'd like to find a way to get the n7player.apk working with it.

Cool man. Yea you will have to use adb for the beta as well. Assuming the beta contains android auto (I would think it does) everything should work.
The whole point of installing it this way is to fool your phone into thinking the app was installed from the play store (com.android.vending). Installing any other way will make it a sideloaded app, removing Android Auto capability.
If you have any trouble installing, uninstall the original Sony Music, then install the beta with the adb instructions.

Thanks ... what I thought (but was hoping wouldn't be the case ....).
I use Plex. It can play local or stream from your PC. And it can sync your PC music to your phone.
Since our phones support multiple Bluetooth codecs, it's possible to get decent sound through BT. It depends on your car's available codecs. My BMW supports AAC, so my Pixel 2 connects to my car with AAC. I just bought the i.tech H2 earbuds that supports Aptx-HD and LDAC. LDAC sounds amazing! When cars start using these new codecs, bye bye wires.
