There seem to be a few apps that allow a wii, ps3 or xbox controller work with Android devices. Anyone got one of these working with the P920 yet? I don't have a console so just wanted to buy a controller that will work on my phone. I've see a few youtube vids of phones connected to the TV and using a game controller and it looks like a great idea.
Pete
bluetooth stack not great on official ROM, hoping CM7 will sort that out
I have a PSXAXIX console but we need CM7 Rom which adds the needed Bluetooth protocol to get that app working.
Could anyone have one of these devices: Zeemote JS1, MSI Chainpus BGP100, Phonejoy and iControlPad (iCP), try this app and see if it works on our Optimus?

I think this will work, and iControlPad looks a good choice.

I've ordered a zeemote off eBay to use with this app. I'll let you know how I get on. There is a YouTube video of one working on a LG 2X so it should work on the 3D. Search YouTube for "LG zeemote"

I can try MSI BGP 100 gamepad I'll write back if it works
The Sinaxis app does not work on stock Rom. Tried it out.
CM7 Supports the needed modules though.
The sinaxis app works on CM7 with Optimus 2X.
The app in the link is bluez IME and its getting rave reviews because its working on lots of phones without root!

Bluez IME doesn't work on my O3D... It installs detects my MSI BGP100 BT gamepad but when I try to set Bluez IME as input method phone shows missing UUID error.. and gamepad doesn't work (But it works on my Milestone with FroyoMOD.2.9.2)
Well, then we just have two choices:
1. Either we keep sending messages to LG to release an update that have the required blutooth protocols.
2. Or we just wait for CM7 ROM.
IT WORKS!
You need to pair with the device BEFORE you disable the keyboard or you can't type the access code. Also mapping the keys is a bit confusing. It works, just needs a bit of setting up.
Edit.....Seems a bit iffy. It lost the connection once on restarting it, and it took a bit of buggering around to connect it again.
Seems that you need to disconnect the device by selecting a keyboard again BEFORE you turn the device off? Apart from that it seems to work fine.

any one get a bgp-100 to working yet?
this is what i have (ic:5413a-bgp100)/(fcc id sjp-bgp100j)
what about a wiimote?
mad_sunday
do you have the exact steps? youtube video does not explain any real details.
do you only have a zeemote js1?
if you have a wiimote can you try that?
I post my bluez issue here

I understand the Logitech Revue runs Android, it has a Netflix app installed. Would it be possible to pull out the Netflix apk and try it on the Evo?
hmmm.... posting to check later. This could be interesting.
I sure wish that it did, hope to hear something.
No. The Netflix app for the Revue is most likely a shortcut link to the actual Netflix website/player. They already brought this up in another thread before and I remember reading that this was the reason why it wouldn't work.

When trying to play movies on the revue from the website it simply fails. The app opens a gallery type view of your queue. It just seems like more of an app than a link. It also has it's own GUI for things like pause ffwd rwnd etc...

Also netflix runs silverlight, I really doubt microsoft whipped up a special version of it just for google tv.
It might be a link in the sense of how skyfire runs flash. They process the flash on their servers and stream it to the phone as a mp4.
GoogleTV rocks. My 2 year old son runs it like its a toy! But I doubt until we get root that anything of this nature can be attempted. We do not even have access to market yet
If such an app already exists, I would appreciate the help tracking it down, but does anyone know if there is a way to use the EVO as a DLNA reciever?
I have a xoom, and it would be kind of cool if i could 'beam' media from it to my EVO connected to my TV. Also, it would make my EVO useful after i upgrade and get a new phone down the line. Maybe it is more complicated than something an app can provide?
Anyway, if anyone knows of a way i could accomplish such a feat, you would become my new hero! <3 !!!!!1!!!1!!!!
Sounds like you'd need an infrared transmitter /receiver...

The best thing I have found is vlc stream and convert but it requires a PC running vlc and it works with hdmiwin. I've been waiting for something that works with ps3 media server, but haven't found anything...

There's a few dlna clients on the market. Search for DLNA client

i could be wrong here, but i think it's a hardware thing.
There are apps to do this on the market place. But the only thing I don't like is that they don't transcode.

I know there are plenty of dlna apps I can use with my computer/Xbox 360 etc, but are there any that function between two android devices?
UPDATE!!
Anyone with an Experia Play and Minecraft Pocket Edition running on it, please put a list of controls on here, or message me them so I can make a video with full controls.
Managed to use it, move jump etc on my HTC desire.
Enjoy!!

Your phones needs to be rooted for this to work, and possibly an ASOP ROM
Download Sixaxis Controller from Android Market, and use it to find your bluetooth address
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroll...
Goto this website and download the program, connect your controller to it, and enter your bluetooth address in it
http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
Start the app, connect the PS3 controller to it, then change input method from app to Sixaxis controller
Run minecraft Pocket Edition, enjoy
This is not a full working control for Minecraft and only certain elements like, jumping and walking work, as the video shows.
I do not hold the rights, of any of the two apps mentioned above, and neither of the program, and will not be held responsible for anything, if anything goes wrong.
Nice apk would be cool

Video posted guys.
Maybe some modders could work out a way to work the other controls based on this.
I actually am laughing at the simple fix to this.
Please could someone with an Experia play message me the control list and post it here. Example what does the triangle button does in-game
sweeet , will try this on my desire ;D
Again, please if anyone has an Experia Play and Minecraft on it, can they put a list on here so I can make a full video with full controls outlined
Got it working on my Desire HD. Would love to mine and actually do something

A contoller less version of this game would be quite bad. Unless it is maybe a tablet the controls on screen would not help at all.
Other than that, I have everything working except the camera movement, i can put blocks in jump, delete blocks select blocks etc, but somehow cant yet use camera control

Can someone who has the Player and an HDhomerun give this apk a try? This looks promising for live TV on the Player...

I tried this last night. It does not work - it just searched for channels indefinitely. Also in the thread there is talk of it not working anymore even on the ADT1. I guess changes to lollipop broke the app.
Sent from my Nexus 5
Well hopefully they get this worked out this is my main reason to buy this so I can ditch comcraps cable boxes
That was broken with changes to Android TV by Google. But give Silicondust some time, they are probably working on a fixed version.
As someone who got to play around with it a lot on my ADT-1, I can say it worked pretty good for a test app on a test build of android tv.

You can still do that without this. If you have an pc you can use as a pvr then there are xbmc addons that will enable you to watch/record live tv from the nexus player. Even better since you get pause/rewind as well, which I assume this app did not have given the lack of storage for live tv buffer on these devices.
Sent from my Nexus 5
I got mythbutnu set up I'm just not a fan of the xbmc style channel guide. Seems like they were working on a lean back style interface with this app that I was interested in
SiliconDust VIEW app works outside TV Input
The latest update to SiliconDust's HDHomeRun VIEW app hit the Play Store on Friday. While it doesn't tune properly from within the TV Input Plugin on my Nexus Player, I can access my channels perfectly by launching the VIEW app itself (which has the same interface as on a tablet). While it's not showing up in the Play Store on the Nexus Player, you can install it from the web version of the store and it will show up properly in the leanback launcher.
The activity on their development forum for Android TV makes me hopeful that they'll have it sorted out soon. The changelog listed support for Android L and Android TV, but only stated support for the ADT-1. I assume some of the remaining issues may be having to do with ARM vs x86, but I don't have an ADT-1 so I can't be sure they don't have the same problems at this stage.
so if the apps works can you tell us does the video stutter when viewing hd channels?

Works on my hd homerun prime.
Sent from my Nexus 5
Do you have an AC router
I have a trebdnet AC 1900. Still stutters om HD from time tv time. It may be that the quad atom processor have more power than the amazon fire processor or it may be that it takes advantage of the AC speeds.
Yeah forgot that I have a usb ethernet adapter. Maybe that's why mine doesn't stutter.
Sent from my Nexus 5
I have a HDhomerun Dual. The View app works for me on Nexus Player. Seems like there's a little stutter in picture every now and again (unit is about 1 foot from an asus 68u). But may just be my imagination. Def better than on my Nexus 5 tho, which is practically unwatchable even 10 feet from the router.
Turns out the View app works for my Prime as well. The TV app only gives audio, and only on some channels.
Another app to try

If you can not get it to load email the developer and see if he can give you a beta so you can try it on the Nexus player. It is better than the HD homerun app on the market. It is called Tune N View it works if the Mysterious Nexus box plays MP2, MP4 and AC-2 audio if it does not support natively it does not work. It works on Minix 8 and other boxes that support those video and audio formats. If this does not work I will place my order of this box on Ebay and just return it and work with what I have. I called Nexus support and they could not tell me which video and audio formats this device supports, really? That's like buying a car and the dealership not knowing what engine it has. I am trying this although I have a fully rooted amazon fire tv which works great. I am hoping this device can deliver with this app and the following:
Root to install external hard drive
My nexus 4 has 16 gigs whats up with 8 gigs?
XMBC (just in case Tune N View does not work)
xbox 360 wireless control support
Hdhomerun App
Finally I was able to compare Nexus Player vs Fire Tv for usage with my homerun prime. I can say that it most be the combination of the Asus AC1900 that I got along with the processor which makes it work alot before with much less stutter then with the fire tv box. The one gripe I have with Nexus why provide much less video codecs support off the bat compared to google tv boxes like my sony box. Tune N View works great on Google Tv (one of the few apps I love on Google TV). Basically less stutter device has less power put they have the needed video and audio codecs. The developer is always involved and did I already mentioned that is better than the official Hdhomerun App. Nexus next time don't be cheap and have those video codecs you know that your getting a geeky crowd to buy these type of devices. Overall I believe I will keep this device now that the Hdhomerun is working better on this device. You can also use the DLNA support on Xmbc for viewing channels as well, FYI.
Can anyone make the Tune n View apk available.
With root & running LolliRock, the "No Carrier ASUS FUGU" aka Nexus Player, is not eligible to download the app via web, and I cannot seem to locate a legit apk to sideload.
Looking for this APK as well...

My NP is unrooted but I'm sideloading apps to try them out and I would love of copy of this apk as well. Can't seem to install or download from the Play store either. Thanks.
I'll be curious to see once the VLC for NP is updated to work with streaming over network. That could be a solid option as well.
Thanks.
Dan
I purchased an HDHomeRun Prime and it worked great for wired devices on my network. But it didn't work so great in my dualband 5g wireless setup. So that translated to an awful experience with my Nexus Player. I wonder if it is because it seemingly doesn't compress the Live TV cable stream out of the HDhomerun (mpeg or transport stream 'ts' output).
Instead of trying to load a usb wired network connection on my NP, I just sent the device back and got a refund. Great in theory, not so pretty in real world application.
So I bought a vr headset.. A third party one, made by kevler(from italy,it was 19 euros) and I having very big problems. The headset doesn't have a controller so I decided to buy an OTG cable and "voilla!" After nearly a day of hard trying.. A managed to get my x360 controller to work. I also have a dualshock 4 and some third party dualshock 3 from game stop, but I can't make them work. Anyways the x360 is just fine, but the official google cardboard app doesn't work with the controller, neither homido app. I'm new to this forum,a friend of mine told me to post here. What I actually want is my x360 controller work with the vr. That's my first big problem, second one would be bsplayer. I had a G3 and the free bsplayer form market worked just fine, any mkv opened, subtitles automatically downloaded, but with my G5 it won't work.. Every time I want to open directly the mkv video it says error opening file. If i first open the app than select the video from the bsplayer file manager it work but no sub.. I like bsllayer a lot,I also tried a version from apkmania, same result..still on my G3 works just fine, I'm opened to a new app with capability of automatically downloading the sub. My phone is not rooted and I don't want root.
