Review the Guides Forum. SIM unlock is
being done by a TMO rep, did mine, took 2 days to happen. There is also a thread regarding switching phone to international software, at which point you can unlock without needing token from OnePlus.
Yes ....u just need to get sim unlocked otherwise if u go to flash intl version stock rom, oem unlocking will be greyed out still.....ask me how i know so you first get sim unlocked then go into dev options and tick "oem unlocking" NOW if u want to stay on tmobiles fw and unlock bootloader u have to get the bootloader token from one plus takes 7 days.... alternatively u could do what i did and instead of waiting now u can flash to international rom. Update to 9.5.8 then unlock bootloader without needing token (because device thinks it is overseas variant) then you are good to go to install TWRP and magisk

Do what this guys says, I did all that and I'm SO happy I did. Plus TMOs fw didn't have the fanatic gaming mode just gaming mode which is totally freaking awesome. One thing I didn't do was install TWRP, I just did magisk, did I screw up by not installing twrp?

Sidenote: Fnatic gaming mode is now enabled on the T-Mobile firmware (9.5.8).
I just talked to t-mobile chat, they were able to do it for me in less in 5 min. I said that I was going out of the country for a couple months(which is true), there was no other questions asked and my phone is unlocked now. One payments btw.
Hey guys! Thanks for the info, planning to do this once I get my code but out of curiosity, what are the main differences between the international and T-Mobile Roms? Pros and cons? Thanks in advance!

I'm not too worried about it I don't really care if I can see when someone is typing or if they have read my message LOL also I am getting faster.... speeds way faster on international

I mean personally if it was me I would have done it just because I made a backup after installing twrp and rooting..... This way I always have something to go back to if need be.... you should always make a backup future reference

Thanks for the detailed information! I really appreciate it. I was reading on other threads about losing RCS on international but is that all we would be losing in terms of seeing someone typing? I mean we won't be missing texts or MMS right? I don't mind missing the ability to see someone typing.

No that will just freeze apps or backup apps such as system apps or downloaded apps.....u would need twrp. .... I mean if your rooted You should definitely have a backup because obviously you are going to tinker with things and if something goes wrong and you go in to a bootloop what are you going to do ?you would have to start all over with the MSM tool versus just booting into TWRP and restoring your backup..... I'll give you one instance I was messing with the "mixer_paths_tavil.xml" files in my phone to make both top and bottom speaker louder . And if I did something wrong, like didn't give it to correct permissions or simply screwed something up in the file it would have bootlooped ..... But I would be fine because I have a backup so I would just reboot recovery and restore my backup in twrp. So save yourself the headache and always make a backup of your rom that your on in future :good:

First back all of your data up, if you do it with Google or OnePlus switch however you do it back your stuff up. because switching over to international will wipe the device so will unlocking bootloader....now flash international ROM.... login what's your Google account.. then go to settings, build number tap seven or eight times then you will have developer options go in and enable USB debugging. Make sure oem unlocking is also on..... go to system update and check for 9.5.8 .. (so you can beyond latest update rooted) install 9.5.8 .....Now you can unlock your bootloader with the fastboot command, you can find guides in the forum....after bootloader is unlocked it will wipe everything......this time you can log back in and restore all of your settings on the ROM boots up you will be on 9.5.8 and now the bootloader is unlocked. also go to dev options again and tick usb debugging and enable advanced reboot ...From this step what I did was grab the latest TWRP image and TWRP installer I also grabbed the latest magisk. I downloaded twrp installer right from phone, magisk apk, and magisk zip. This is a big deal because these files need to be on your phone in internal storage (i left them in downloads) so now that the files or on your phone that you need to flash from twrp....u can install twrp img now (use guides on forum) flash twrp img, root etc.

For tmobile yes.....once sim unlocked u can either stay on tmobile simunlocked but will need bootloader "token" from one plus...takes 7 days but then u can unlock bootloader on tmobile ...or u can do it the easier way and as soon as u sim unlock just flash the intl version and u dont need the token ....u can just unlock bootloader with fastboot command

Hello big bro, did you later use this method to SIM unlock

so per xda rules i cannot post where to go to unlock your bootloaders on the nokia 6.1 but if you google search you will find it. it's $5 and you provide your IEMI and i had the code and was unlocked within 10 minutes.
im not a dev but id love to start a discussion on how to build twrp and achieve root. i wanted to extract my boot.img and try to patch with magisk but im positive you need twrp to see the partition scheme and temp root to make a system dump. since this is an android one device its possible it follows the pixel scheme and has a/b partitions which makes it even harder for development of roms. but root should be possible if we have someone with the knowledge how to achieve it.
i just wanted to start a discussion and see where this takes us. this is a nice budget device and it deserves root.
im still not sure why its against the rules here to pay for a unlock when jcase used to promote the sunshine app to s-off and unlock bootloaders for $25 per phone.
ive attached a screenshot of my unlocked bootloader so people don't think im full of it. i have the USA 32gb / 3gb ram model from best buy.
let the fun begin! :fingers-crossed:

its a gsm unlocked phone but I use it on tmobile. yes its works fine. once you unlock the bootloader it does factory reset and wipe data.
it seems the only way to do a system dump is to buy a edl usb type c cable since we have no temp root or official firmware from nokia. if anybody has one of these cables and gets their bootloader unlocked we can get a system dump including the recovery.img to build twrp and the boot.img to patch with magisk.
I succed to unlock bootloader. I pay for it. I want to back up rom and find way to make custom recovery to flash magisk
why your bootloader ui is different ?
there's a word "one" after "android" ?

In almost every thread is link how to unlock (because people needs to talk about that everywhere), for now no option to root, unless we have TWRP or the boot image. And you need to wait for Android P, it should be out in August, I think...

I don't think I would have the knowledge needed to do it and would have had to do some research to learn about it. Thank you.

How us P compared to Oreo ? Speed and fluidity .?
I think oreo has better battery. P never stuck very quickly Rom and stable. Now that on holidays I found a new add. You can use phone and Google maps can run in.small window! Usefull .. the ROM came with the basic stock Google tools. I like it. I don't like that I can't make modifications like xposed remove some Google apps like player and add others. I don't like that Nokia hasn't software that you can unbrick your phone (lg has the lg bringe). I don't like that Nokia isn't official unlock the bootloaders.
I posted a thread on this, commented on a couple other threads, posted on Reddit, and I simply cannot get straight answers across the board. All the feedback I'm getting is different. I am willing to PayPal friends and family $5 to the first person that can answer my questions with links to sources just so I can ensure the information I'm getting is correct. I haven't rooted a phone since my 1st Gen Moto X so I'm out of the loop, but have a understanding of everything.
I have a GM1915 OnePlus 7 Pro that is T-Mobile SIM unlocked. I followed the tutorials HERE and HERE to flash the global firmware and all went well. Only issue I had was my SIM was being detected but no service, so I did an OTA update to 10.0.3 and my service is working fine now. Here are where my questions begin:
1. Now that I have installed the international firmware I don't need to get a bootloader unlock from T-Mobile/OnePlus, correct? I can just use the OEM unlock option and unlock via fastboot?
I have had people tell me I am good to enable OEM unlocking and use fastboot oem unlock, others have told me I still need to request a unlock, others tell me to downgrade to SP3. I just need a straightforward answer: Can I use OEM unlocking or do I need to request an unlock from OnePlus?
2. I know bootloader/root can sometimes cause certain applications to not function, but I've also read Magisk has a setting to correct this. I'm mainly just concerned with Google Pay, is there a method for it to still function with root?
Again, I've had some people tell me I can't use Google Pay, Netflix, or anything like that at all, others tell me Magisk Hide and SafetyNet will fix this issue. I also had an individual state "However, recent changes coming might thwart this.". Again, can I use Google Pay or can't I?
3. Part of me would actually like to use the phone stock for a week or so to see if I even feel like I need root access. I am currently on OS 10.0.3, if I update to the newest OS (looks like 10.3.1 is the newest) will I still be able to root with Magisk and flash TWRP? I would assume yes since you can do an OTA update and keep Magisk, but I just wanted to verify.
So if I update to 10.3.1 can I still follow the same tutorial listed under question 1 and it will work? Doesn't the most recent version of TWRP/Magisk support 10.3.1? Or will I need to use MSM and go back to 9.5.X (can't remember the exact version, but it's the OS it puts you on when you follow the steps for international firmware flashing)? Can I even go back to 9.5.X after updating to 10.3.1? I see release notes for TWRP that state is now have Android Q support but I just want to ensure it's compatibile with 10.3.1 or whatever the newest OS is.

I know regardless my phone is going to get wiped, I just want to be prepared on what I need to do if I decide to root.
I don't need links to tutorials, there are plenty of them and I understand how flashing TWRP and Magisk works, I just need my above questions answered with sources. I have searched around for a couple days and cannot get straight forward answers for any of these. First to answer every question with sources I'll send $5 PayPal.

Firstly I can't give you a reputable source, and I don't want any money. I actually recently bought a Renewed Oneplus 7 Pro from amazon when it was 420, its the Black 8GB 256GB T-Mobile GM1915 model. So here is what I found out , and currently running Ill post some pics to show you
1. If you followed the guides above exactly and everything went smoothly your pefectly fine to use OEM Unlock, it basically installs a version of the firmware that doesn't check for a boot loader unlock token. I had originally requested one as well than found this nifty guide and it worked amazingly.
2. Yes it will work perfectly fine with Magisk, just use the Hide Magisk , it will resintall under a new name. Than you can even go further and use magisk hide to hide it from each app independently. As for google pay I have mine setup and it worked fine. I haven't actually been able to go into store and use it as we are very closed off in home now, but It allowed me to add my card fine, verify with my bank and all that good stuff. As for netflix yes it will work but since you unlocked bootloader you lose the Widevine DRM L1 certification and thus can't watch in HDR anymore. It still works fine though and honestly looks alright to me.
3. I had updated my T-Mobile OS all the way to latest version forget what it was at the moment, and than I did the tutorial to unlock the bootloader and flash twrp/magisk/rom. It worked out perfectly fine so you should be fine as well. What I would do is use the tutorial above unlock bootloader, because that version of the OS doesn't check for unlock token, than flash a stock Global rom 10.3.2 is avaliable now. and enjoy it for awhile and when your ready install a custom rom and magisk.
I'll add some pictures of things you asked about. Sadly I can't show my model number in system due to rom but i showed it connected to my pc.

When you say this, did you update your firmware OTA on the T-Mobile firmware, or the Global/International firmware using OTA? I don't want to skip any incremental updates and cause issues so I might update using OTA to the newest it provides than use Oxygen Updater to get to 10.3.2. As long as I can be on the newest firmware and still unlock my bootloader and flash TWRP I'm fine. I mainly got this phone because it ticks every feature box I want and it can be rooted, but I'm up for using it stock for a while to see if I even want root.
Edit: I reread you post and think I looked over something about unlocking the bootloader. So the specific version of the firmware you flash to to swap to the international firmware doesn't require an unlock token, so if I wanted to use the OEM unlock I'd need to be back on that version, but if I wanted to unlock after I update to 10.3.2 I'd need to request a token. Am I understanding that correctly?

It was the T-Mobile firmware. 10.0.3 version. I had done it before I was even thinking about unlocking bootloader and flashing. Than when I saw the custom ROMS + Kernels where you can gain massive performance gains or optimize battery like mad I was sold on it. Plus the ugly t-mobile boot screens annoyed me. It is an amazing phone and prices can be had at its a steal. Also their is a TWRP that lets you dual boot and use shared data partition. So you could have one boot as a custom ROM, and another as stock and have the data shared in a common partition. Get a little of both ^_^
Like I have two profiles and one is more performance / battery Optimized
This other was more for fun on seeing how far I can push scores I am bored during this lockdown lol

Thanks for all the replies. Would you care to answer this question below? And if you do not want the cash what charity would you like it donated to?
Edit: I reread you post and think I looked over something about unlocking the bootloader. So the specific version of the firmware you flash to to swap to the international firmware doesn't require an unlock token, so if I wanted to use the OEM unlock I'd need to be back on that version, but if I wanted to unlock after I update to 10.3.2 I'd need to request a token. Am I understanding that correctly?

You know I am honestly not sure on this part, I did the bootloader unlock right after I followed that tutorial with the MSM tool. I am pretty sure its just the t-mobile firmware that blocks you from doing OEM unlock with out token. Not the global. But one way to find out be enable OEM unlock in developer settings, and run the fastboot oem unlock cmd. See if it works. If not you have your answere and will have to go back to other version. If you want you can always relock bootloader. I would test this but as I've already unlocked , re-locking and unlocking probably not give proper answer. But if you want I can install 10.3.3 lock bootloader and try to unlock it again lol.
EDIT: a test in sues.

So I tried fastboot oem unlock after updating to 10.3.1 and it asked me if I wanted to unlock without prompting for an unlock token. I didn't choose the option to unlock, I kept it locked, but I think if I can get that far I should be able to unlock without a token on 10.3.1

I can confirm now officially. After locking my bootloader, using MSM tool to go back to T-Mobile updating to 10.0.3 and trying to unlock bootloader it wouldn't work as I thought.
When using the MSM tool to go to international version and updating all the way to 10.3.2, it worked perfectly fine. So you can be on global rom and not worry about being able to unlock bootloader later due to updates Very awesome can get on global rom and not compromise bootloader so can have all security in place

If you follow the main guide on xda exactly you're going be fine. Once on global your essentially done because than you can flash a twrp through fastboot and install any rom, kernel you want. As well as magisk. The most important part is that msm guide. Now if you want to be more official get an unlock token and do it the regular way through fastboot with the unlock token. It took about a week in a half to get mine. But the msm guide works perfectly. Also I've gotten my device stuck in multiple fastboot loops and stuff their is always a way back.

Once you follow this you will be off TMobile stock and on global stock. Here you can choose to unlock bootloader or not. You don't need to root and install twrp to be on global rom. Just basically do the msm guide than. Update through the oxygen updater app to latest.

strange all you really need do is hook it up to pc, enable usb debugging which u've done. type adb reboot edl, wait for it and have msm open and it should connect. My only thing to suggest would be try another cable or another port on the pc. sometimes i've also noticed fastboot can be odd for me and I have to reboot the computer for it to notice my phone . I'd suggest try those things. Did you check your system model and see if it was the 1915 model with the GM31CB?
dont know if you got it or not but heres link to the commands https://droidfeats.com/unlock-bootloader-oneplus-7-pro-t-mobile/
Howdy all,
I'll try to keep things brief but informative.
Yesterday I got the unlock bin for my T-Mobile Oneplus 7 Pro. I unlocked it, flashed LineageOS (latest 17.1), Magisk (19.04 but then updated to latest after install), DM-Verity, and TWRP (unified Q version).
I have installed Nethunter, F-Droid, and some other basic apps.
I just got a new SIM Card from T-Mobile and activated it last night, however it shows the same as the empty SIM slot (which my phone doesn't have a physical second slot) and on the lock screen at the top left rotates between saying: "No SIM card" "No SIM card - T-Mobile" "No SIM card - No service". In the phone the top right does not show any bars, x'ed out or otherwise, however one time after taking it out, googling, then putting it back in it sis appear x'ed out until reboot.
I cannot send texts as it says no preferred SIM card selected, and I cannot make calls due to a lack of service; however, I can receive texts and calls and even answer calls and speak to the calling party just fine.
I was getting nothing, then I saw where someone received a text and it fixed it for them, so I texted myself, got a backlog of texts, but nothing else came of that.
I have no idea what to do from here and only vauge idea of why it may be like this but no understanding of it.
I found this reddit post seeming to detail the issue, but I do not know if it applies to me (presumably does) and I do not understand any of the information in the post, nor do I know what to do with this information:
reddit.com/r /oneplus /comments /gb5jlk /factory_reset_no_sim_card_detected_oneplus_7_pro /
(sorry for the spaces, can't post outside links until after I've posted 10 posts)
and with that I'm all out of idea and knowledge. My background is in Offensive Security, but I know very little about SIM Cards and smart phones so all help is greatly appreciated!

I didn't do it so I'm going to assume it is not. I've only unlocked the bootloader (obviously). How would I go about unlocking the SIM?
Also, the original carrier was T-Mobile and the SIM is also T-Mobile, I assumed this would be ok but is there an issue since I didn't unlock it yet I installed custom stuffs - or what would be causing an issue by not unlocking it? (just trying to learn more )

How did you root?
Did you grab a patched boot image or did you boot with the TWRP image and install Magisk yourself?
Grabbing the wrong image is the number one thing that causes WiFi and SIM issues.

If you didn't use the msm tool to get you back to the T-Mobile firmware, then you probably aren't on T-Mobile firmware. I had the same issue trying to get lineage to work, and was able to get back to stock and have data.
Since you probably don't have the bootloader unlock code, you need to convert to international firmware, and fully update to at least 10.3.2 before you flash lineage. If you don't, you won't have service.

I did use the MSM tool, it's locked, has the T-Mobile boot animation and everything.
I do have the unlock file & code, I had to wait a week to get it.
Has anyone been able to get any information? I checked the Oneplus site and the tmobile phone has an unlock .bin page but no mention of sprint. Now, I know Sprint has merged with Tmobile so im not sure if this changes things..
Any thoughts/information?
I'm not 100% sure on this as I haven't confirmed it however, I did get the OnePlus 8 5g at their discounted deal due to the merger and can say without a doubt that it is a T-Mobile phone with T-Mobile branding on the box and in the phone the only thing that it is currently using is a Sprint SIM card. Therefore I would assume one of the many methods that are listed over on the T-Mobile side should work I will check into it tonight and get back to you with my findings. I can also say that all of my roaming issues that I was having at my house with my OnePlus 7 pro 5G have been corrected and resolved with just this phone alone. No need for an airrave or any other device to get internet at home. I'm not sure if you live in a 5-g city or not however they have not officially activated it where I live it just recently came on line a day or two ago and that is through T-Mobile's Network only and I'm actually able to pick that up now to. (Just not at home )

They are the same phone but you need a Sprint sim if you're using Sprint for your carrier. There is an 8 Pro but it's not available through any carrier in the US. You need to buy it from OP or Amazon. I don't think it'll work on Sprint as it's not an approved device. It will work on t-mobile This will all change after August when they begin merging customers.
Edit: The OP8 is the exact same phone, IN2017, on both networks.

Yes. I am fully rooted, xXx rom and smurf kernel
You need to network unlock (sim unlock) permanent in order to make available the toggle for OEM Unlocking in settings.
Once sim unlocked, enable oem unlocking in settings and get the unlock from phone and then from OnePlus.
After unlock_code.bin is provided from OnePlus you need to flash that via fastboot. This will wipe.
Then download latest stable twrp from mauricio (thread in xda OnePlus forums)
Only BOOT twrp. Backup boot partition. Install magisk manager app once phone fully reboots.
Patch boot.img backup you made using magisk manager app.
This creates the file "patched_magisk.img"
Move that to ADB folder.
Test patched boot by <fastboot boot patched_magisk.img>
If successful, open magisk manager and press Install Directly.
You will be rooted.

this is the first post in probably 5 years i hit the Thanks button for
can you please confirm if this is supposed to be the method for all carriers, or specific to certain region models, or excluding certain carriers?
i'm emerging from a 1000 year slumber after becoming satisfied with a previous phone, and finding it ridiculously difficult to find a new haven for rooted phones lol
Once you are rooted and unlocked, I'd suggest switching to the Global rom for future proofing the device.
I just did this last night and it was fairly painless.
There's a thread on switching to global. In that thread there is a reply to my post. That reply is a very concise guide to flashing over to global and updating to A11. Regaining root is also simple. Use Magisk Canary and download the stock boot image for global. Patch that stock boot using Magisk Canary.
Reboot to fastboot and flash patched_magisk.img to boot_a AND boot_b
Reboot.
Enjoy root and Magisk.
I also recommend flashing the xXx Magisk rom. Will re-enable VoWiFi and VoLTE for global rom!

Yes. I'm on exact same thing as you.
5g works great after A11 update!
I just got an IN2017 model now and still trying to apply for a SIM unlock, do I need any services enabled for that process? Or can I disable/wipe out any crappy bloatware that my system has, and if so then what's safe to uninstall from sprint?

I"d leave it all for now. Once you unlock, i'd recommend switching to global rom anyway. It receives updates faster and modem is better than tmo. even without standalone 5g.
And when you do that, you'll eliminate most of the bloat.
Prerequisites:
Your G 5G/One 5G has bootloader unlocked
LMSA installed
ADB is up to date
Your phone battery should be at least 60%
Your phone is wiped during bootloader unlock process
It's recommended to run LMSA rescue in order to have build version up to date, and you will get required boot.img for patching. Observe the ROM download process, and when it's close to finishing, go to the folder link on the bottom right, and go to ROM files. It's recommended to copy entire .zip file to download folder, and make sure you get boot.img and copy to the phone (set USB mode to file transfer) Download folder, and set USB mode to charging after it's done
Install Magisk Manager and update to the latest, and patch boot.img.
Change USB to file transfer and get patched_boot.img back to host computer
Open command, and go to ADB folder
Reboot the phone to bootloader
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash boot
Press spacebar once, and drag and drop patched boot to command window and press enter
Before doing restoration, make sure you do the following
1. Setup Magisk Manager and enable Magisk Hide and Systemless Hosts. You will be prompted to run "environmental setup" and the phone reboots during process. Check CTS and it should pass
2. Wipe Google Play Store
3. Reboot and install AdAway
4. Reboot again
5. Restore your phone
You should be able to install Netflix but you will lose L1
Update: you need these additional steps in Magisk to pass
1. Install latest riru in Magisk
2. Download and install Safetynet fix https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix
Your phone will reboot twice
Apparently the us version is not able to be rooted as the bootloader cannot be unlocked . Device not supported for bootloader unlock according to the portal.

You can not trust the official supported unlock list, it's never been complete.
You can check if the device's CID is eligible for unlocking, and if the OEM unlocking is greyed out you cannot.
If the CID is good and OEM can be toggled, you need to request the unlock code to be sure.

Mine is US unlocked version and rooted
Okay so I have been down the road and back again folks. I now have my Moto one 5g ace fully bootloader unlocked as well as Magisk root installed and my root explorer and titanium backup are being granted Super user permissions. Yes Finally. Now If anyone and I mean anyone needs help or has a issue please message me. i have created a list of fastboot commands in order specific to the Moto one ace 5g that WILL RESTORE THE FACTORY IMAGES IN PROPER ORDER FOR THE ROM. FORGIVE ME i AM STILL NEEDING TO MAKE A FLASH ALL.BAT FOR THIS. HOWEVER, IT WORKS FLAWLESSLY IF DONE INDIVIDUALLY TO RESTORE YOUR ONE ACE 5G BACK TO STOCK. So I am a very happy One ace 5g owner with unlocked bootloader and, Root privilege's. Now awaiting some further development for the Recovery image and some custom Roms from some Developers smarter than Me. Ha Ha Ha. So for now I wait. I will update if i get the Flash all.bat file accomplished.
Thanks to XDA for their years of instruction and direction.

That's why you have original ROM or boot in order to revert.
Should everything get messed up, you can fully restore with LMSA rescue (data will be wiped during process)

Could you please post the CA combo data for your variant?
Went to try out this phone, had no idea would be able to root it, was just looking for a basic phone with a decent display and battery. Thanks for the guide @mingkee! My first device borked on the LMSA update, it broke the wifi on it. Returned for a new phone, unlocked the BL and this one working just fine. Nice and rooted and no more ads.
What's the CA combo data exactly.?

Its the carrier aggregation configuration for the different bands supported by the hardware and ths software of the phone. It usually differs by region for the same phone model.
The following site is a good reference point for this information.

Reporting that bootloader unlock works PERFECTLY on the MetroPCS variant. But don't format the string yourself, use the Moto Data Scrub Tool they have on the unlock page. If you do it yourself it will come up error.

Please Post the Commands for the Restore from Factory image as they are slightly different than the G series prior to 2019. Thanks.

The flash commands are included in the flashfile.xml, which should always be referred to because the commands do change from time to time.
I suggest using the online flash file convertor.
Then copy the commands to a text file, save, rename the file extension to .bat
done you have your own flashall.bat
only exception is if your device uses the new fastbootd mode.

Well I definitely have an issue since I can't use the touchscreen I can't boot into fastboot right now or reboot the phone manually.
Update for the challenged: Hold the power button with the up volume rocker for forced reboot.
