Is there a WiFi sharing option with the OnePlus 7? Where you can share your WiFi connection with other devices rather than your mobile internet? Almost like a WiFi extender.
Thanks

I wonder the same.
I've come from the Xiaomi Mi 9 and by default you could be connected to WiFi and enabling hotspot it would remain connected and share that connection.
With the OnePlus 7 Pro so far, so the above disconnects the WiFi connection and shares only the mobile data.
I'd be keen to see if there's a workaround here!
Yeah, I discovered this is missing from the OP7. The Pixel 3 does it even though it's not mentioned anywhere.
Pixel 3 only, not the earlier versions. Mate 20 Pro. All the more recent galaxies up to the S7 I believe. It's nice to not have to give out my wifi password to everyone that comes to visit. Also nice when you're in a hotel that limits you to one device per room. I hope it becomes an OS standard eventually.
I think we only have the usual, where you create a WiFi hotspot everyone else connects to your device and shares your LTE connection?
They have added wife sharing support from oxygenos 12 now for oneplus devices. Working fine for me now on OP7 PRO

I bought a nexus 5 to replace my galaxy s4 which died a couple of days ago.
My home router is a Netgear D6300 and everything (pc, tv and phones such as iphone, samsung and nokia can connect just fine).
My nexus 5 was delivered today and i spent the last 5 hours to get it working with my wifi but NOTHING worked (and, i'm not joking, i got to the point of almost throwing it out of the window).
I tried enabling SSID broadcasting, changing "security options", changing channels, disabling 5ghz network, i also enabled the guest network with no protection but nothing worked.
The only thing i noticed was the when using particular channels (5-6-7) the phone would say "connecting" for a few seconds but then it would go back to "saved, protected with wpa/wpa2".
I also changed some wifi settings on my phone (i disabled wifi optimization and i forced the phone to use the 2.4 ghz network only)
Sometimes it stays on "saved....." and doesn't even seem to try to connect.
After a while i tried creating an hotspot with an iphone 5s and my nexus connected in a second and everything was working.
So the problem should be in my router settings but i already tried everything (and besides everything else but the nexus works just fine).
I'm really desperate because i use this phone for work and i need to get this working asap.
I also managed to update to android 4.4.4 using my mobile network but i can't update to lolipop because it would use all my remaining 3g network data.
Btw i did some heavy modding on my galaxy s4 so i'm not a newbie to android.
I'm also willing to pay for support but to be honest i'm really disappointed that such and "acclaimed" phone has problems connecting to a wifi network that works with basically everything.
Sorry if I missed it in the post, but did you reboot the router.

Yes but it didn't help.
I've had 4 N5's in my possession over the past year or so, and not a single one had any issues connecting to any WiFi network, including Netgear routers. Your problem is either specific to your particular device or your router and not with the N5 in general. I assure you, the N5 deserves all the praise (and criticisms) that it has received.ave you tried a different router? I know you used it with your iPhone's hotspot but I mean an actual router? Also, have you tried resetting your router to defaults?
Are you using MAC filtering on the router?

I just tried a dlink router on my home network and everything works!!!!!
But i want to understand why my D6300 doesn't work with the nexus (its configured the same way as the dlink).
Any suggestions???
In the meantime i'll reset the D6300.

If your router is handing out DHCP addresses it may have run out of addresses if you have many wireless devices connecting infrequently. But I would thing a reboot would have cleared that up.
Using a verizon note 5, marsmallow, with metropcs. ALL works as should. Excellent service, sms, mms even the my metro app. Hotspot works but with a weird problem... so I can connect every device in my house to my hotspot, except one connects and then says no internet. I can connect an Xbox 360, multiple laptops, 2 smart tvs, wiiu, tablets, and then the problem child, Amazon fire stick. It says connected, shows full bars for coverage, then it shows not connected to the internet. I've tried the old lollipop dhcp, I've tried 2.4ghz and 5ghz. To no avail, I cannot get it working for the life of me. I've tried tmobile apn and metro apn... now the weird thing is I can use my wife's note 5 from Verizon with verizon service and it connects and streams just fine. Just my Verizon note 5 with metropcs service, won't connect to that one device. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Any help or insight would be appreciated thanks
verizon hotspot app is limited to 10 devices.
Are you connecting more than 10 devices?

No it was only the fire stick by itself. I came to the conclusion that even though metropcs works on a Verizon unlocked note 5, it doesn't have all the LTE bands so therefore my LTE speed wasnt fast enough to run the fire stick. Needless to say the note 5 has found another owner and I've moved on to the Nexus 6p. And now I have full LTE speeds and the fire stick works again. Thanks for your insight
Hello everyone, with the problem on my previous thread I decided to wipe the phone and restore it to the rooted L29 ROM. Everything seems to work great except for one thing.
When WiFI Hotspot is activated the 3G/4G doesn't work - Chrome would say "you are offline - your device is offline."
Any insight on how to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Just to clarify, when the hotspot is on. The device connected to the hotspot has internet connectivity. However, the internet ceases to work on my actual phone that is hotspotting
um, aint that supposed to be that way....? since all traffic is router through wifi to the connected devices....just guessing though, ive never tried to use internet connection on my phone while using its wifi hotspot with another device
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10
Nope, before I flashed it I can hotspot my friends while using the internet on the phone. Not anymore
huh, ok.... weird then!
Can someone tell me a reliable way of getting Wi-Fi sharing that is available on samsung s9 and some other premium devices working on a phone without that option?
Actually some mid-range models have this option like the lg stylo 4 in broken functionality working in 2.4ghz only but I want it to work in both 5ghz and 2.4ghz.
Thanks for any info.

I know the chances are slim, but if the laptops are older, they may not have a 5ghz wifi card. How old are the laptops? Any chance you could try with a usb wifi dongle and see if it works on that.
