alternative gallery. - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I hate the **** gallery on this phone. Love basically anything else about it and being one takes tons of this and loves organizing them is there a better gallery app without ads? Missing my LG G6 cause it's gallery was perfect.

Try this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-gallery-quickpic-based-4-7-4-t3790425

Ive just come from using galaxy phones. The stock app on that is way way better than the one on the op7p. I'd love to be able to import it over somehow. I'm currently using F-Stop gallery which is pretty good

I have Google photos app along with my Amazon prime photos but I still miss the simple gallery that was LG even Samsung's is better on my old gs6. I'll pay $5 for a decent app but all on play store seem to be bad

I'm using Simple Gallery Pro

Only Google photos here, actually i disabled stock gallery and even stock camera app opens Google photos as default.

Doesn't disabling stock Gallery prevent you from viewing photos taken in the camera app?
I use both Gallery and Google Photos, to reply to OP.

No, it opens whatever gallery app is set as default

Just paid for memoria app and it's a decently made app. Seems best I can find at moment. Since the gallery ICS app doesn't work with pie

Oh I see, maybe that's why I was dealing with issues when I previously disabled the stock Gallery (didn't select a new default).
However I noticed slow motion videos don't properly play on my iMac unless I edit and save the video with the stock Gallery app, so I may have to keep it for that one reason.
Unfortunate because I was wanting to freeze the app now that I know the issue I previously mentioned can be resolved by setting a different gallery app as default.

Do you guys know of any gallery apps that allows printing from the 3 dot menu? I use Piktures because it has the option, but the UI bothers me a bit so wanted to see if there were other alternatives.

Ah, that's good to know. I'm not a huge fan of Google Photos though, it's why I use piktures usually. Would like to know what other alternatives there are out there besides Piktures and Google Photos.

[Q] 2D Gallery?

I really hate the 3D Gallery and all the 2D Gallery apk's i've tried won't install.
I don't mind having both if installed rather than replacing if this is easier.
Any ideas?
Thanks
JustPictures!. Awesome gallery app that you can also view your Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, etc. Fast and smooth. I hate the 3D Gallery.

Just tried Justpictures!
The app is not bad... but the thing hogged my processor until I had to uninstall and eventually reboot (despite killing it, the thing rises from the dead!)
Awesome thanks, i do prefer the standard 2D gallery but this will do just fine for now
*EDIT*
Actually now i've changed some of the settings so it looks less "cartoony" ... i love it!
Cheers
Wow, JustPictures is awesome
Annoying issue's i've found no i've had a chance to play with it ...

Actually it does both.
1. The main Gallery app doesn't see the change, I have a widget on my desktop that's "reload media" and it forces the phone to re-read media on the "sd" card, so when I go back to the gallery, it will "see" that it's gone. You can normally do it by force closing the Gallery app or relaunching it a couple times for it to see changes.
2. tap and hold a picture, or while viewing a picture press menu, then select SEND PHOTO, then it'll open up the "Share" menu.
Ok thanks.
Ahh i see ... thats why in the main gallery when i choose the photo that should have deleted it's blurry.. because the main gallery app has just stored/zoomed in on the thumbnail
Try this

Go to the market and download Launcher Pro. It's free and will kill the 3d drawer and revert back to the old school 2d instead. There are a few other benefits to using Launcher Pro. Hope this helped!!

[APK]QuickPic on ICS. Really faster than stock Sense Gallery

For ICS users :
I have about 3'000 pictures on my SDcard, and each time I scroll on gallery, I have sometimes 3-4 seconds lag before thumbnails appear.
See screenshot :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So I tried several Gallery applications and found this one : "QuickPic".
First time you scroll, thumbnails will lag to appear, but once all thumbnails appeared once, you'll have then instantly, like old gallery on Gingerbread, but a lot smoother.
So try it and tell me.

I've Been using quickpic for a few months now and love it. You can hide folders and set it so the new pics are on top. Great app. Plus like you said it loads way faster.

Yes, but you can also choose another application to read videos.
QuikPic really is the only way to fly. Its infinately better thab the stock gingerbread gallary. And the stock ics gallary is just awful the way it presses the pictures up against one another.

Tried one that before its nice but when discovered this JustPictures also nice, not only browsing pics from local sd it also allows browsing photo from you social network sites (Flickr, Facebook, Picasa and others) nice interface and does have slideshow. And best of all its free and no Ads.

There is a thread about JustPictures actually. I used JP on my nexus one and was flying so I can only imagine on sensation. The only negative is that it wasn't able to view the vids, because it was...duh...justpictures lol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856791
BTT: I haven't tried Quickpic but I heard it was a good pic viewer as well. Because of the ability to actually "view" the vids is a plus IMO to pretty much replace the gallery3d which is my fallback app lol.
Been using quickpic for ages. There is simply nothing better if you want fast.

JustPictures seems interesting, but when scrolling, thumbnails are not so immediate as QuickPic, and after going to Picasa pictures, I was unable to return back to local pictures.

Agreed, works well! Thanks
Not sure why, but I just noticed that the sort-by-month is working, but seems to be a little strange. It's grouping a bunch of pics I took within the past few days at the bottom of the roll as December 1969.
I assume this is because they weren't time stamped correctly in the EXIF by the camera, and that date is the earliest possible by default. It would stand to reason that the file name order *should* also be the chronological order in which the pictures were taken - but since it groups by month, it uses the EXIF date instead of the file name to order the pics.
The point is this: make sure the camera is correctly tagging your pictures or the order of your pictures in the gallery will be all messed up.

But about the "online" option I can't acces my picture in google pictures or picassa web, is that a bug? There is no place (that I found) where I can configure an online provider.

I'm sure the developer doesn't mean any harm. Hopefully he'll be able to explain why. I'm not a dev, yet all I know is that a lot of apps that enable you to share things on facebook and other sharing sites, like to have access to your accounts. Maybe this is why this app wants access too?
Either way, I think it's a fantastic app. If only I could wind back the clock by 3,5 years so I could start making pics from the day my son was born

In the Play store it states that it will backup your project to your Google Drive account. This would be why the app needs access to accounts.
There seems to be a bug with recent CM10.1 builds and this app. It worked fine before, but now whenever I take a pic it just freezes on the camera screen (although the app itself is still responsive) it doesn't proceed to the preview screen to confirm the pic. However I noticed this only happens when my face is actually in the middle of the image. If I take a pic of something else it goes on to the preview screen just fine.
This makes me think it's something to do with the "slow and buggy" face detection, but I get the same results whether it's turned on or off.
Any ideas?
Great App!
Just became a dad 2 months ago and I love this app. However, it will only create an SD video. If I try to go 720 or 1080 it gives an error something like "failed to create video, try changing video settings".
I have tried a few different video settings to no avail. Has anyone got any ideas?

[Q] Change Default Camera Preview App

Hi Guys,
For some reason I didn't want the Google+ App, so I removed it with Titanium Backup. Now this also removed the new Google Photos app. However, whenever I capture an image through the default camera, the image preview (slide from right) opens in this app. (See below)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Firstly, I'm not sure how it ended up remaining partly in the system. Secondly, when I press the circled icon, the app force exits to the homescreen instead of taking me back to the gallery or camera. Not only that, the photo that is currently being previewed gets deleted. I mean common Google, you can't force me to use an app, if I don't want to!
Having said that, I would like to know if it is possible to change the default preview app from the photos app to the android gallery app? Or if thats not possible, is it possible to install only the G Photos app and not the entire G+ application?
TIA,
Cheers!:good:
Anyone?
I do not have "photos" installed nor google plus. Removed a bunch of google bloat via clean master. When I go into my camera and then slide right it goes into what you have posted the little google photos thing. But I use gallery as my photo app. I have this same deal as you posted it just doesn't bother me.
Download the picasa tool, that is just strictly photos and you can manage them on the cloud.
Hope this helps I will check back if this isn't clear.
I believe this can be resolved by going to your app list, and choosing "Clear Defaults" on Google+.

Can you confirm this, since you have Google plus still installed. It would be much easier for you to check it. Would be really helpful if you could check whether the gallery app can be set as the default previewing app by clearing the Google plus defaults.

I am simply ignoring it because it does not really bother me. I never actually view my photos this way versus just hitting the gallery app and since I have some in the cloud I use the picasa tool. I am pretty sure that once photos are removed gallery becomes default because I remember when looking at a photo in SMS it asked me for photos or gallery.

I thought I would respond to this because after flashing to lollipop this is really annoying me as well. I prefer quikpic but I cannot change the default viewer from the camera. I can verify clearing defaults does not resolve the problem.
