I really hate the 3D Gallery and all the 2D Gallery apk's i've tried won't install.
I don't mind having both if installed rather than replacing if this is easier.
Any ideas?
Thanks
JustPictures!. Awesome gallery app that you can also view your Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, etc. Fast and smooth. I hate the 3D Gallery.

Just tried Justpictures!
The app is not bad... but the thing hogged my processor until I had to uninstall and eventually reboot (despite killing it, the thing rises from the dead!)
Awesome thanks, i do prefer the standard 2D gallery but this will do just fine for now
*EDIT*
Actually now i've changed some of the settings so it looks less "cartoony" ... i love it!
Cheers
Wow, JustPictures is awesome
Annoying issue's i've found no i've had a chance to play with it ...
- When you delete a photo it doesn't delete it from the main gallery
- No upload/share options

Actually it does both.
1. The main Gallery app doesn't see the change, I have a widget on my desktop that's "reload media" and it forces the phone to re-read media on the "sd" card, so when I go back to the gallery, it will "see" that it's gone. You can normally do it by force closing the Gallery app or relaunching it a couple times for it to see changes.
2. tap and hold a picture, or while viewing a picture press menu, then select SEND PHOTO, then it'll open up the "Share" menu.
Ok thanks.
Ahh i see ... thats why in the main gallery when i choose the photo that should have deleted it's blurry.. because the main gallery app has just stored/zoomed in on the thumbnail
Try this

Go to the market and download Launcher Pro. It's free and will kill the 3d drawer and revert back to the old school 2d instead. There are a few other benefits to using Launcher Pro. Hope this helped!!

I tried to do a search for "3D Gallery" (with quotes) but it came up empty.

Here is the Gallery 3D from the samsung epic dump im not sure if it will install and if its the latest version
Installing now....standby
Edit: so I went to install it, but all I had was an uninstall and launch button. I clicked launch and it's the 3D gallery....however, I am not sure how to launch it with using Astro and hitting launch.
...standing by.
....also standing by
It works, people...It takes just a bit longer to load all the photos once it opens. I'm torn between which I like better. The 3D one looks cooler.
The 3D gallery blows because it's so low quality when viewing the images. There's a modified one in the nexus themes and apps forum where someone made an alternative gallery that loads thumbnails at a higher resolution. Sense 2.2 gallery has the best image quality

Hi Guys,
For some reason I didn't want the Google+ App, so I removed it with Titanium Backup. Now this also removed the new Google Photos app. However, whenever I capture an image through the default camera, the image preview (slide from right) opens in this app. (See below)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Firstly, I'm not sure how it ended up remaining partly in the system. Secondly, when I press the circled icon, the app force exits to the homescreen instead of taking me back to the gallery or camera. Not only that, the photo that is currently being previewed gets deleted. I mean common Google, you can't force me to use an app, if I don't want to!
Having said that, I would like to know if it is possible to change the default preview app from the photos app to the android gallery app? Or if thats not possible, is it possible to install only the G Photos app and not the entire G+ application?
TIA,
Cheers!:good:
Anyone?
I do not have "photos" installed nor google plus. Removed a bunch of google bloat via clean master. When I go into my camera and then slide right it goes into what you have posted the little google photos thing. But I use gallery as my photo app. I have this same deal as you posted it just doesn't bother me.
Download the picasa tool, that is just strictly photos and you can manage them on the cloud.
Hope this helps I will check back if this isn't clear.
I believe this can be resolved by going to your app list, and choosing "Clear Defaults" on Google+.

I'm afraid I don't understand. Are you suggesting we just ignore the issue?

Can you confirm this, since you have Google plus still installed. It would be much easier for you to check it. Would be really helpful if you could check whether the gallery app can be set as the default previewing app by clearing the Google plus defaults.

I am simply ignoring it because it does not really bother me. I never actually view my photos this way versus just hitting the gallery app and since I have some in the cloud I use the picasa tool. I am pretty sure that once photos are removed gallery becomes default because I remember when looking at a photo in SMS it asked me for photos or gallery.

I thought I would respond to this because after flashing to lollipop this is really annoying me as well. I prefer quikpic but I cannot change the default viewer from the camera. I can verify clearing defaults does not resolve the problem.

In Android 5.0, Screen Pinning was added. It can pin apps, great
But it can't pin single photos.
How many times have you tried to show someone one of your photos, only to have them go through your whole album?
Photo Pinner solved that
Simply select a photo in your favourite gallery app, share it to Photo Pinner and press the pin button. Android will take care of the rest - you can even make it go to the lockscreen before unpinning!
Photo Pinner is totally free, free from ads, has a tiny file size and needs no permissions
It also supports basic pinch zoom features, and views in fullscreen

Yes, it's not a backport
Looking forward to this, Quinn!
Is there a way to hide the "help"? I don't need people to know how to exit the pin app. Now that I know, I know.
Otherwise, an app I didn't know I had a use for, but now think will be valuable. Thanks!

Nope, I think you can do it with device admin, but there's no documentation yet

Is there a way for being asked for pin for leaving the photo?
It's too easy is someone knows hot to leave the pinning...
Thanks.
Hi All,
I am facing a problem when I am trying to change the default gallery app to Google Go or AI Gallery.
The only problem I am facing is that when take a photo and click on the photo to see it in the gallery. It directly takes me to the default gallery which shows me an annoying message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I just do not want to tap on agree. But, it keeps coming back and I think it will be coming back until I agree to it. So, I do not want the default gallery anymore.
I have tried using "Default App Manager" and it successfully changed it to AI Gallery. But, when I open photos from the camera, it is again opening the default app.
Still no reply on this.. Anyway, I have changed few settings that I didn't want. I was able to do most of the things to make this phone perfect. But, this is the one thing that I couldn't find a workaround for..
Same here. Changing default gallery app makes no difference, it always opens Xiaomi gallery. One for the bug list I think. But for me, not a problem but thought I would test just in case you thought you were going mad.

Well, I was about to change the camera app itself to GCam. But, some people are saying it is better than stock and others are in saying the opposite. Plus, I do not think installing GCam is straight forward and if it is not AT LEAST as good as the stock camera app I'd not even consider it. The camera on this device is insane!
Thanks for replying. At least someone is sharing the same experience. I'm still looking for a workaround. If you find something. Don't forget to update me.
Will do. But if you want to try the gcam, look at playstore for GCamloader app, there is a Xiaomi link in the list, see screenshot.
Why the screenshot editing toolbar doesn't appear?
Seems it Markup app
I tried freeze different user app but it didn't help me

In what way are you trying to edit your screenshots? In Google Photos you can crop, add text, add shapes, add pen markings, change the color, etc. That is presumably why some users here (myself included) cannot comprehend what issues you may be running into.
@NippleSauce
I take screenshot
Power + volume down
And press pencil
But.. I don't see toolbar ((

Ahh, thanks. Try updating or restarting your phone. That seems like a software related issue.
But just note that the editing toolbar can also be accessed through Google Photos - so try editing it in there if a phone update/restart doesn't resolve the issue.
I also noticed that you have the debloater app installed. So, perhaps something that you had removed was necessary for the screenshot editing shortcut? This is just a wild guess though.
Ok thanks you
I have last firmware ( January 2023)
I will try to look for more what could be the reason
It's very strange
When I try edit screenshot... Markup doesn't work properly
But when I share photo from Google Photos all works fine
Can anyone check one thing
Open Google Photos and select any photo
Share photo and select edit
Markup app will open - here I already have a toolbar
In the same Markup application, the upper right corner is shared again and click edit again
Markup will open again - and here my toolbar is not displayed
I have a feeling that the problem is with the share functionality
I tried intercepting with - AppManager
GitHub - MuntashirAkon/AppManager: A full-featured package manager and viewer for Android
A full-featured package manager and viewer for Android - GitHub - MuntashirAkon/AppManager: A full-featured package manager and viewer for Android
github.com
For example – screenshot edit - doesn't work
Edit existing file – all works fine
Seems I found problem
I have Fullscreen-Immersive.Gestures-.Q-T.-v21.0-.54.zip magisc module
After uninstalled it
Toolbar has appeared
