How to Flash custom boot.img to PX5 MTCD/E Headunit? - MTCD Software Development

Is this possible using an SDCard? If yes, please share how.
I want to flash Android 9.0 boot.img modified to support Magisk.
Need the SafetyNet bypass module.
Will appreciate any inputs on how to install magisk on stock android 9.0 rom on a PX5 MTCE unit.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Update.img is a full image. It can be used to flash a coreboard directly connected to a PC

1-Download adbkit
2-Connect device to wifi and PC to same wifi
3- copy your boot.img to internal memory
4- write the command
adb shell busybox dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/by-name/boot

Thank you. I will try.
Edit: Tried it but ended bootloop. Maybe a problem on boot.img patching. Not supported by Magisk?
Someone who has properly patched Px5 android 9.0 boot.img?

I have tried this one but no success. Fails package validation. I guess it has to do with how the update.zip should be repacked. I just use 7zip in replacing the boot.img.

at this time magisk does not correctly do the patch in the rockchip boot.img so it's more accurate not to boot

Any possible solution? I think it's still possible. @Hal9k_ has made it in his custom ROM. Thanks.

Not yet. I'm working on that

Does anyone figured how to install magisk ? I think Hal9k keeps it secret.

In case, you want the stock boot/recovery to install Magisk like me, you can get it out of the firmware.zip inside the OTA zip, which you can download from HTC server using the link:

I found the RUU's for the version of my phone also. Can anybody here confirm that the stock recovery zip file found at the following link will allow me to go back to stock recovery if I decide to flash TWRP?

I have unlocked my bootloader, installed twrp. Unfortunately, twrp is worthless since it can not be used as it seems...
Now I wonder if I can use this guide to root my phone:
"1. Download http://fotadl-az.htc.com/secure/OTA_...bbi6tc9m38.zip
Edit / Important: Read next post down below before Step 2/
2. Extract firmware.zip.
3. Extract boot.img from firmware.zip from step 2 and transfer to the /sdcard.
4. Install Magisk Manager and select Beta channel
5. Click install and choose to use "patch the stock boot image" method. It will browse you to /sdcard. Choose the boot.img from step 3. After its done, it will give you path of patched boot image.
6. Transfer the patched boot image from step 5 to PC using 'adb pull'
7. Boot the phone into download mode and flash the patched boot image.
8. Reboot and enjoy!!"
Where/how can I get the correct boot.img för my device?
My version is "1.10.401.23 9.0_g CL991677 release-keys" and none of the download links match my version? Or can I use some of them anyway?
I would be very happy and thanksful if I got help so I can get root access!

I think yours is the Europe model. If so, download the following ZIP:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620770441
Extract firmware.zip from it, and you will then extract boot.img from the firmware.zip, and then, patch that in magisk manager. Hope that helps!

I should have a European model. If I'm looking in the Download mode:

If something goes wrong, or if it would be the wrong boot.img, can I flash a complete RUU via adb fastboat so I dont brick my phone?

Hmm.. It is 25 pcs. compressed zip-files in this download.
In one of the zip there is "boot_signed.img"
It must be it. But when I try to unzip it doesn't work. It says the file is corrupt [emoji852]️.
I will try to download the file again, mayby the download failed.

You need RUU decrypt tool to retrieve the boot and recovery image
Root HTC U11+ European model software number 1.10.401.23
To root your HTC U11+ thru twrp use version 3.2.0.0
1. make sure you got Magisk-15.2 on you sd-card
2. boot into TWRP and leave system read only
3.goto install and install Magisk (in my case 15.2)
4. you will get error, like "can't mount data" (not to worry)
5. after install GO BACK!! DO NOT REBOOT!!
6. format data AND THEN reboot!!
7 You'll have to setup your phone as a new one; finish that and install Magisk_Manager
8 your now rooted!!! check with root checker
Hope this will help you;

Hi @veisen !
Thanks for the ROM.
However - how can it be an official ROM if it shows a 'Le X527' but with a 'Snapdragon 820' (when it should be a Snapdragon 652)?

Try pushing it through adb
Rename the file to update.zip
Open terminal
cd "directory of the zip folder"
adb push update.zip /sdcard/
Wait for few minutes, it should be done.

[Solved] MTCE - switch from Hal9k to other Oreo Rom not possible - verification error

*** see last post for solution ***
Hi there,
I wanted to switch from a hal9k rom to malayk, but it's not possible for me.
I have a Witson MX2 MTCE unit, currently running Hal9k.
The custom recovery from hal9k is installed. It shows me version 8.0.6.
I tried to now flash Malayk or any other stock oreo rom and I am always getting a signature verificartion error (21).
Tried sd card, usb key, rebooting the unit.... can't get further.
Any idea what I can try?
thanks a lot!
Christian
I was under the impression that if you installed a stock ROM that it would overwrite the recovery with a stock recovery.
How are you trying to install the stock ROM? Are you trying from the Android menus or by going into recovery directly?

Thanks! I'll read into that more deeply. When it needs soldering, I will probably stay with hal9k.
What I thought might be worth a try is a reverse engineering of hal9k mod installer apk. Basically it includes a raw image of recovery that is written directly to NAND when executing.
Changing that raw recovery data might be possible, but I have no idea how to extract it from malaysk sdupdate.img file...

I tried to now flash Malayk or any other stock oreo rom and I am always getting a signature verificartion error (21).
Tried sd card, usb key, rebooting the unit.... can't get further.
Any idea what I can try?
thanks a lot!

I have first tried Malysk, then switched to Hal9k, then I have installed two different stock roms. The HA is running "GS_PX5_8.0_20180919_XTRONS" now and I cannot revert back to Malaysk. Getting a signature verification error.
And the effing wifi still refuse to work.
Edit: Malaysk just released v3.0. Hopefully I'll manage to install the new version without a glitch.
Solution
Indeed changing the recovery resolved my problem.
Here we go:
Download this file:
https://yadi.sk/d/oiVapjo9sVWw3A
Copy it to our USB/SD, power up the radio and install some terminal emulator app.
Open terminal emulator (you need root access) and type:
1.) cd /storage
2.) ls (to find your storage deviced name)
3.) cd [your device name]
4.) su busybox dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/block/by-name/recovery
This will flash the recovery to install Malaysk with.

I try this and when i click to update with a wipe it goes to recovery, however still get the signature error. Any tips? Trying to install Malysk 3.2.
Manage to fix my issue too thanks.
1. Downloaded Busybox.
2. Used Su / root command
And used the command line posted here just did not added su at the front of the command line.

Good work. Another option is creating a bootable SDCard to replace recovery.

Thank you. Are you coming from Hal9k ROM? and directly install Malaysk v3.2? If not mistaken need to install Malaysk v1 first then update to v3.2.

could that be a thing to move from Android 6 to 8 ?
Anyone with a bench unit could maybe test that

Lenovo z5 - Install Gcam on stock rom

Not test on custom rom (because i am on stock rom 10.5.254 now).
Please find below steps to use gcam on any Zui rom:
- Root your device with magisk and patched boot
- install root browser and find build.prop in system folder (b4 editing, copy the file to another place and rename to build.prop.bak, then copy back to folder system. Your device will be safe with that new file)
- Open build.prop and copy this code to the bottom:
persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
Persist.vendor.camera.eis.enabled=1
- Reboot the phone
- Install this gcam: https://mega.nz/#!GrRlVSRa!MQjLBbqRKoMhxZjhLfE3pt4hhFDeRKO_dx65ziUtF9Q
Cheers!
P/s: On Zui 10 ported, no need to edit build.prop.
@vosathanh Kindly attach / upload / PM patched boot ZUI 10.5.254 file. Thanks in advance.
After flashing the patched boot file, Should I flash twrp and flash the magisk zip file? magisk zip file is standard i think, i have downloaded in mobile via magisk manager app.
Patched boot here: https://mega.nz/#!amh1kIzB!GChdAWSdNJmSmrgp01Ji9x4U4_riRz9_PLe6tY0vgqw
Install magisk apk 7.1.1 first. Reboot to bootloader and: fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
Reboot. Done

How to root pixel4a with lineageos?

I see the magisk method but it require boot.img, something that lineageos doesn't have. Any clue?
Thanks.

With lineage, the 'recovery' image is the boot.img. It's just the boot image with lineage recovery 'injected' into it. You can use it and inject magisk.
I think the better way to do that though is to adb sideload the magisk apk, but you first have to rename the 'magiskxxx.apk' to 'magiskxxx.zip'. Doing it that way will also add a needed script file to the lineage system, so that when u do a lineage update, magisk and it's modules will be in the updated slot.
cheers
