Getting a screen glitch when closing apps. - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

I've started getting a glitch where if I swipe up from the bottom and I'm in an app, immediately after the app swipes away it will briefly flash up on the screen again. It started happening as soon as I switched back to the default from Nova. I've since u installed Nova and rebooted and it's still happening. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Google beta app?
I think this could be related to the GOOGLE beta application. I had the same issue after a recent update to the application. After removing myself from the beta the issue was gone.

I think I got an update to that immediately after removing Nova, so I'll give it a day or two and see what happens after another update.

I had that happening when on Q beta 4. Once I switched back to Pie (I did a full wipe/reset) it went away

[Q] Pressing the back button too fast bring back recent apps on 4.4.3

Anyone noticed how when you press the back button to exit and application too fast, the screen for you recent apps also display before you are taken back to the home screen?
This issues started after 4.4.3
Anybody have any solutions?
It's always been a weird KitKat bug, for me it brings up a random app from somewhere in the recents list that's not even been used for a while. Lol

Yes, not a 4.4.3 specific issue sadly. Was hoping this would have been resolved in the latest update but clearly not. D'oh. I'm completely stock everything, unrooted and it's happened since I bought the phone in February.

I am completely stock too. I only started noticing it since 4.4.3 - or maybe it was always there.
Its quite irritating. Is google looking at this?
I've seen a dramatic increase since 4.3.3. Doesn't do it all the time but once it starts it seems to keep doing it for a while.
I cleared Cache and Dalvik but didn't make any difference.
Think this happened to me once recently, opened Google Chrome on its own.
Maybe it's not a bug. Returning to a previously used app could be seen as a convenience. Just a thought.

I've never experienced this issue. Why not just press the home button to exit the app?

Lol. No it returns to any random app ib the recents list, not the last opened

I can confirm this starting from 4.4.3. It's quite simple to reproduce it for me:
Open Chrome and press the home button.
Open WhatsApp and enter a conversation. Press the back button two times quickly.
This should bring you back to your home screen. Instead it immediately will pop up Chrome for a moment, just to close it automatically afterwards. I press the back button two times in a lot of apps, so this is starting to be really annoying. I'm running everything stock. Has anyone experiencing the issue tried to hard-reset the phone to see if it goes away?
I used to face this on stock rom as well... Ever since I've started using a custom rom (AICP) , the bug has disappeared.

I can confirm it only started coming up since 4.4.3. It did not happen on 4.4.2.
I'm using stock Nexus 5, with Nova launcher.

I've tested it myself and I can confirm that a factory reset does not solve this issue.
Confirm, but true only for stock 4.4.3. Fast pressing back button to exit an app will cause opening last active app (f.e. open dialer with messaging app in background, twice-triple tap back and it will close dialer but bring messaging app right from home screen and close it (wut?)). Running custom and there is no such bug.

After applying the 4.4.4 OTA this bug still seems to be present.

Pixel Launcher app drawer scrolling is super choppy

Hey guys. I've had this issue since October, and it's yet to go away. My app drawer in the Pixel Launcher is really choppy as I scroll. Whether I scroll quickly or slowly, it looks terrible. Tons of lag. I was hoping that this would go away with updates, but I'm now on 8.0 and still no difference. The only thing that seems to make it better or worse is the number of installed apps. The less in the drawer, the less it lags.
I've done some Googling, and it doesn't seem like an issue for anyone. Still, I thought I'd ask. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks.
Nobody?
Other than clearing cache and data under pixel launcher (settings-apps) and rebooting perhaps start with a fresh install

I know this is old but I figured out on my phone it was a setting for dashlane password manager. Turn off any settings that involve accessibility options for all apps... In dashlane I think it was called auto login for all apps. But I would assume similar options from other apps cause the same issue because it's a service that runs constant in the background.
I had a similar issue. My setup was, I installed the cracked ver. of Pix 2 Launcher on Pix phone all went well until I upgraded with the full OTA with month security patch. I tried going back to Pix launcher but got numerous FCs.
Eventually, I had make a clean wipe with factory image.

Glitches on stock rom, brand new phone

So I got this phone about 2 weeks ago, brand new from oneplus. I haven't been tempted to do anything to it (bootloader locked, complete stock, no root)
One of the glitches is it'll stop scrolling on some web pages, especially from my Google feed. You need to back out and reenter the site. Then it works fine. This is the one that occurs often.
The other night I was using youtube. I tried to put it in pip mode. It froze in a weird position, not pip. It looked more like the recents but you couldn't exit it. I tried everything till I finally had to reboot to fix it.
Then last night I was watching Netflix. I tried to fast forward a bit and it began to buffer. It happens sometimes but again I had to reboot. The app wouldn't let me back out. I suppose I might've been able to pull down qs and go into settings to force quit (maybe) but this is a brand new phone. Also it's the 12/256 model.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I'm on the latest Android 10.
I have the N2013 12/256gb I had the same issue with chrome had to back out to get it working, not had the other issues thought. I have updated to O os 11 now see if this helps.
Had the same problem with chrome, switched to duckduckgo instead, and problem was gone.
Chrome has an issue with me, no matter what i try

Thanks. I had actually narrowed it down to chrome just before I read your replies.
I switched to Chrome beta and so far so good.
The youtube glitch only happened once. Did you receive the Android 11 ota or did you download it? I'm still waiting. I heard it's best to wait but this is the first time in years I haven't installed my own updates. Bootloader is still locked, no root, stock recovery.
It hasn't been bad so far.
Sometimes pulling down the statusbar works for the chrome freezes too
is there an option to change WebView types in Developer Options?
I downloaded 11 from the oxygen updater app, always do since it being faster getting the updates.
Yes you can change webview if you like, but to my knowledge you have to use a magisk script for it (don't knpw any other way), ive never used it tho.

Nova Launcher and Google feed not working.

For some reason my google feed stops working. I swipe to the left and nothing happens. I have to reboot phone to get it working. Anyone know how to fix this issue?
Same with me. I have reinstalled Nova's google companion and toggled it on and off in Nova's setting but only a reboot will get it back. It does tend to last the whole day though. Nova Launcher is releasing an update soon so hopefully it will address the issue.
Nova Launcher 7 Update is Here and It's Huge
The developers behind Nova Launcher had a last minute surprise up their sleeves just prior to 2020 ending. In a somewhat limited beta release, Nova Launcher 7 is here and it’s a pretty major update. First posted a couple of days ago and updated several times since, Nova Launcher 7 beta has been...

Yeah, it’s broken on my Note too. The companion app has not been updated for a long time too so I am not confident it will get fixed quickly.
I have moved to Lawnchair recently, works really well.

Is this issue /error, on Android 11 or Android 10.?
I am currently still on Android 10 an have Nova Prime
v 6.2.18 installed.
Nova Google Companion is working fine for me ?
No issues so far.
However, about - + 3 weeks ago, i had similar
issue, when by swiping from left, Google Companion would not work./appear.
I eventually uninstalled Nova Google Companion app, downloaded Nova Google Companion , (think it was from Apkmirror site) again and re install.
Working fine since then.
I have experienced this problem also. The way I fix it is to clear app data for the Google app and then restart Nova Launcher. However the issue has come back a few times. I also noticed the search bar is missing in Discover, I emailed Nova support about the problem but was told it was Google's problem ask them to fix it . I've been looking for a replacement for Nova but nothing compares.

I am glad I stumbled upon this post and your solution as this seems to have resolved the problem of Google Discover not showing up on swiping the left edge of my device Many thanks mate

Yeah, I used it for awhile. It has some nice features but it wasn't for me.
Been using Android 11 since the 1st beta, and it worked fine. Last update it stopped working, however :-(

Launcher keeps switching back to Default Launcher - Help :-(

I'm noticed a really odd issue.
I've finally switched to gesture controls and I'm finding that if i turn the phone off and back on the system switches back to the 'default' launcher and also every now and then the 'home' gesture will switch to the default launcher
Usually launcher is 'Action Launcher'
Anyone else having the same issue or any idea how to solve this?
Note: I didnt get this issue when using virtual buttons.
Yes, I've experienced this and it is a known Oppo issue. You can get around the problem by doing the following (although you'll have to repeat it whenever you reboot the phone).
1. Go into settings -> App management -> Default app and set the Home app to System Launcher.
2. Repeat the above but this time select your launcher of choice.
It's not at all clear why this should work but, as other users also report, it does.
My Joying Head Unit will operate correctly for a while but then reverts to the stock launcher. I do not have gestures turned on. Happens for Car Launcher Pro and Agama as well. Updating firmware fixed the problem for a while, but a month or so later it is back. Any thoughts?
Same problem here, just started recently.

Can you think of anything that may have caused it? I updated a number of Apps (including Google Services, Agama, etc) just prior to the problem occurring this time. I had automatic updates turned on, but have since turned them off.

I haven't touched it in months, I had Nova launcher running without any problems since Feb. One morning last week, I turn on my truck and the stock launcher loaded. Now everytime I change default launcher it revert back to the stock one. Ive also tried web launcher guru, same thing.
