I'm noticed a really odd issue.
I've finally switched to gesture controls and I'm finding that if i turn the phone off and back on the system switches back to the 'default' launcher and also every now and then the 'home' gesture will switch to the default launcher
Usually launcher is 'Action Launcher'
Anyone else having the same issue or any idea how to solve this?
Note: I didnt get this issue when using virtual buttons.
Yes, I've experienced this and it is a known Oppo issue. You can get around the problem by doing the following (although you'll have to repeat it whenever you reboot the phone).
1. Go into settings -> App management -> Default app and set the Home app to System Launcher.
2. Repeat the above but this time select your launcher of choice.
It's not at all clear why this should work but, as other users also report, it does.
My Joying Head Unit will operate correctly for a while but then reverts to the stock launcher. I do not have gestures turned on. Happens for Car Launcher Pro and Agama as well. Updating firmware fixed the problem for a while, but a month or so later it is back. Any thoughts?
Same problem here, just started recently.

Can you think of anything that may have caused it? I updated a number of Apps (including Google Services, Agama, etc) just prior to the problem occurring this time. I had automatic updates turned on, but have since turned them off.

I haven't touched it in months, I had Nova launcher running without any problems since Feb. One morning last week, I turn on my truck and the stock launcher loaded. Now everytime I change default launcher it revert back to the stock one. Ive also tried web launcher guru, same thing.

Figured perhaps a bug thread for the Rogers 2.2 update may be in order?
Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it does seem a bit odd. The lock screen usually has the text "swipe screen to unlock" or something to that nature (the part with the <<< and >>>) - mine had it to begin with in 2.2, however now it has dissapeared and I just see the little lock icon saying the phone is locked. Is there any way to get it back or is this a 2.2 "feature" so you see more of your background?
The 2nd problem I noticed I have already started a thread on (and no replies ) - it deals with contact linking and Facebook. Seems something is whacky there too possibly. The thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907088

Definitely a feature. I love the clearer lock screen.
Bug: Haptic feedback vibration is very low system wide (not including soft keys).
Bug: Voice Dialer (Voice Dialler) is misspelled in the App Drawer.
Bug: Going to Settings > Display > Font Style causes a crash.
All I remember so far but there has been several.

Confirmed feature of Froyo, or is this a Rogers/Samsung specific feature? Just wondering because it WAS showing up for a few lock screens right after the upgrade, then eventually stopped showing up - reboot/battery reset didn't get it back... haven't tried a factory reset yet to see if that fixes it (if it's broke).

No problems here - did you have it set to a custom/non default font when upgrading? I had mine on default (I prefer that to any other font) and have no issues changing fonts.
I've had some issues with wifi losing it's internet / market connection after wake up sometimes. shows still connected, but no network access. i have to turn wifi off, then back on occasionally.

Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Wi-Fi settings. From this screen, hit your menu key and select Advanced and try changing your Wi-Fi sleep policy to Never... perhaps it's set to "When screen turns off" causing you to lose Wi-Fi whenever you lock your phone?
Oh, another bug possibly...
Go to Camera app and open Settings. Open the wrench tab and go to the 2nd page. Click the Update button beside Firmware update. Either of the next two menu choices ("Check version by network" or "Firmware update") seem to freeze the phone (power off required). Doesn't seem to happen all the time, but my first time trying to get the update to do something caused the phone to lock up in to camera mode.
Also, the "It will occur additional fee." message is quite fun... no idea what fees I will incur, or for what reason (and I won't even get in to the grammar issues).

Well it can't be a Froyo feature because no other manufactures use the same lock screen as they do. So it's a Samsung feature brought on by Froyo. Simply, it can't be a bug.

Yeah, I had to it some other font besides the default font...guess I'm screwed now? Bugs like these make me more anxious to get real Froyo.

Its much faster and smoother than 2.1 stock was for me. Did you set it up fresh? Older settings can cause issues.
you guys have this issue? you may not even know it until you try to use mass storage mode. I use iSyncr (lets me use smart playlists based on ratings) so I need mass storage mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907854
My wife and I (each have a Captivate) have had none of the bugs you guys have mentioned.
All we have experienced is a faster phone and WAY better battery life.
The only thing that upset me is that the update deleted my Ocean Wave livewallpaper, but I just redownloaded it.
Did some of you guys experiencing bugs ever run a custom ROM? I am thinking maybe these issues might be because you did...
Re: Haptic Feedback.
I've noticed it too, it's much weaker than before.
I could have sworn that I saw the option to turn up the intensity before, but can't find it now.

Go for it..I installed it and so far the improvements have been great over 2.1
Battery life is much improved, its faster than stock 2.1 (and after applying Ryan's OCLF...its incredibly responsive)
If you do have a lagfix installed prior to upgrading you should uninstall that first. Thats what I did and didn't have much problems. my one issue with Swype was fixed by clearing the cache.

I gave it a go on your recommendation. Updated with no issues, now to actually try using it...
Has anyone rooted after applying 2.2? If so, what did you use?
I've been having issues turning on WiFi on my phone ever since I installed the update.
I accidentally clicked Airplane mode on my phone this morning, now my phone has been trying to turn the WiFi back on for about 5 mins....
As for battery life, my phone the first few days after installing Froyo seemed great, but now it doesn't really seem as good? No idea why....
And I've noticed a bit of lag at times while navigating on my phone.
Using LauncherPro Plus as my home screen, haven't rooted or installed any roms or anything.
I have noticed that when you turn the phone on from when it is off, if you don't wait for the wallpaper to display before swiping your phone on, the phone will stall. Mine stalled for about 5 minutes before it responded again.
I'm having a couple of small issues:
1) I can't get the GPS to look position. It just displays "Waiting for Location" and sits there.
2) OCLG - I got about 1000 on quadrant score. It doesn't seem laggy but I wanted to apply this lagfix to see if it can be better. I tried runnig the first option in the menu (z4 rooting), and it tries to launch either a page or the market (not sure which) but says "Page Not Found", but when you close it and press back, it says the root was successful, but all the other options are still "unavailable" so I can't apply the lagfix. There's a second method in the menu to do a root and that one fails as well, so I'm not sure how to get this working.
3) Camera - I got the same problem as a previous poster for the firmware update where it says "fees will occur" then when I click "yes", it tries to launch a page/market (again not sure) and says "Page Not Found".
4) Rooting - not sure how to root because the previous method of putting my update.zip and doing it through the recovery menu fails.
Any help is appreciated.
I was running rooted lagfixed stock Rogers 2.1 before. Removed lagfix first and did a factory reset before updating to 2.2 through Kies.
After updating to 2.2 I re-rooted and lagfixed with no issue.
Things bugs I have noticed on my phone:
- Camera a few times had started up with a black screen only with usual camera options but it's as if it does not see anything from the lens (had done camera fw update on it. You can download it from Samsung Apps app)
- When viewing "Contacts" can't press Back button to exit it so I just press Home button. Small bug
- can't set up smtp outbound email settings on stock email app. Keep getting it can't connect with server even when manually inputting correct settings.
- Battery undetermined as i've been playing with GPS a lot testing it so it drains pretty quick.
- GPS - Had no problems with 2.1 (using GPS + "Use wireless networks") but it's been horrible on 2.2. Locks ok when stationary, fluctuating between 5-9 satellite locks (used lbstestmode to check) but when you are moving or when using it for Navigation, it will be ok for a short bit then would eventually start bouncing all over the place or start getting weak/lost locks. Was using it on the hwy one time and it would suddenly tell me to do a u-turn because it thought I was on a side road. (condition was clear and phone was by windshield).
What it did fix for me:
- Opening Gallery before would sometimes lock up the phone requiring battery pull in 2.1. Fixed for me with 2.2
- Running latest updated Maps would sometimes lock up the phone requiring battery pull in 2.1. Fixed for me with 2.2 but still somewhat useless because of issue mentioned previously.
I can live with all the bugs except for the abismal gps.
Hi all,
I've had a strange experience recently where at least once or twice a day whenever I close an app the phone defaults to stock launcher rather than Nova ( Nova is selected as default launcher)
I then have to manually go into settings and reselect Nova as default launcher.
Anyone having this issue or have any idea how to fix?
Thanks.
Me. mAny many many and many times. I give up of using nova launcher and I am using the horrible native launcher. Completely annoyed.
I am using nova for the past week. The only time I had this issue was when I tried to add a widget that is specific to the native launcher. I supposed you have added the launcher to ignore optimization?
I've got the same problem. Do you have the MHA-AL00? On the AL00 I definitely have this problem, but I don't remember having this problem on the L29. Yesterday, I set it for Nova to ignore battery optimizations, and it's been okay since then, though. Not sure how much that matters.
Edit: Literally ten seconds after typing this message, my phone went back to default launcher, so that's not how it's solved unfortunately.
There is a Nova setting called "Agressive Desktop". Enabling it seems to have fixed the issue.
A day later: Confirming that it works!!
===
This is Chinese model MHA-AL00
I've selected the aggressive desktop option...Will see what happens. I think this is specific to the Chinese ROM ( my handset is Chinese )
As an aside I dont see an option for a daydream clock in my ROM?
Smart Launcher here, no probs!
Didn't work for me. Still switches back despite enabling aggressive desktop.
There is one thing you can try, and that is to lock it in the recent apps list. Nova launcher settings won't show up if you are currently using the launcher. So set the default launcher to Huawei Home first. Then open Nova launcher and goto nova settings.
Press the home button, which should take you back to Huawei Home. Press recent apps. Nova settings should now show up in the recent apps. Press the little lock icon and lock it.
Not sure if it will work for you. So far it is okay for me.
Have tried the recent app lock mate... Thanks for the tip!
I just find all the Chinese android versions have super aggressive app kill properties, even after you go through all the optimisation and turning it off it still does it. The final jigsaw always seem to be locking the app into memory in the recent apps list. I had a xiaomi previously and that phone used to kill things even locked in recent apps -.-
Also was using the phone with Assistance & voice input setting changed to launcher 3 and trusted agent set to Smart Lock (Google). Today Smart Lock randomly popped up with my home address.
So right now I also have it auto unlocked while at home (not via bluetooth only). Now the problem is I cannot access the setting again
I agree. I did stop buying their phones for this reason but couldn't resist the mate 9
Hmmm... This was an issue that really bugged me, but it works now. Nova stays as default, and it's solid. Besides the Aggressive Desktop, I gave Nova all the possible permissions, so re-check that.
Tried aggressive desktop as well as locking in recent but nothing seems to work. Any other ideas?
Very strange one... My wife's VZW Pixel (I have one too) suddenly experience a bunch of changes that we can't find the trigger for. I just spent a hour troubleshooting every possible thing and I am stumped...hoping for some guidance.
Known facts
1. She changed nothing
2. At least one app (siwftkey) auto-updated... I uninstalled it but that didn't fix it
3. She was on the December patch when this happened. I updated to Jan but that did nothing.
4. Device is stock, unrooted with Nova launcher (I tried the pixel launcher and the same issues appear)
Symptoms:
1. Home and recents buttons do not work on any screen... Back button still works
2. No notifications appear on the NAV bar and nothing appears when you swipe down. Sound notifications do work however. No apps are blocking notifications and the individual app notifications are set up properly
3. Double press the power button no longer goes to camera even though that gesture is toggled on
Factory reset is my next step but I am traveling right now and she will need me to set everything back up so I am hoping there might be a fix short of a full reset.
And suggestions greatly appreciated.

Last resort, you can backup apps and data using Helium, then factory reset it. Then restore with Helium. To use Helium, you'll need a PC though.
Any other results on this?? My pixel just hit the same problem! It is in an area that has no internet so it is causing all sorts of issues. I don't know if the two are related at all.

Unfortunately not... Did a factory reset and that cured it. Not one issue since then. Must have been so random app she downloaded that created a conflict.

Happens with me today. I was messing around with the device and when I clicked in a YouTube video link on notification shade the device suddenly soft reboot.
Since them, home and recentes buttons won't perform their actions. They still vibrate and home button animates on touch. Status bar shows none notification, even I knowing they are arriving via notification sound and quick settings shade won't pull down completely. My tiles was rearranged as well. No mobile connection either.
I'm running lattes official Oreo. Never unlocked and never rooted my pixel XL 128.
For me a factory reset through settings did the trick.
Would be very good if Google could light us about this issue. No rouge apps on my device. In fact I'm using a few
his is an Android issue.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
You can uninstall Nova Launcher afterwards if you want. You don't need to set it as default.
Perfect!!! Thanks.

No problems with nova on the l29 usa one.. Open nova launcher then go back to home then Try opening ur recent apps and hitting the lock on nova launcher. Also make sure nova launcher is set to not close on phone lock.
No problems with nova. L29 western Europe model.
Must just be a Nova setting you need to check....
I have the AL00, and it works just fine. Did you install it from the play store? I have found some of the widgets from EMUI clashes with Nova, but if you stick to widgets from Google play, you should be fine.
Yes, do not use any of the widgets of EMUI. I have had no issues since doing that.
That's it. Stock weather widget was the problem.
Thanks everyone

I have nova latest version running on AL00 without any issues even after restart nova continues as my default home also notification are working with no issues. I did give full permissions to all nova apps and full notification access.
The issue is Bluetooth bug. Toggle the Bluetooth connection with another device resets the default home. If you don't use bluetooth then you won't have that issue.

I've been using Bluetooth with my car, my fitbit and echo without any issues and still nova stays as default
if rooted, use titanium backup to freeze the "launcher" the stock one. hit the home button and set nova as the default.

Do you know if there is a fix for Bluetooth bug ?
I have the same model. You have to ensure nova has all the relevant permissions activated under settings. Storage, voice, etc etc. Nova works fine on my Mate 9. It initially kept crashing then I had a look at the settings and it's worked flawlessly since.
I just got the OTA Android 11 update last week, and now I have the same problems many others are having with different Samsung devices -- the system won't save the default launcher setting and keeps reverting to One UI Home after a restart. This seems to be a very widespread issue with Samsung and also Pixel devices. I have tried a factory reset, and also tried all the other "fixes" recommended on the web like giving Nova accessibility permission, giving it Modify system permissions, and also uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I've noticed that many times a simple restart will cause the phone to switch to the One UI Home as default, but also using an app for the first time, then exiting and hitting the home button will take me to One UI Home instead of Nova Launcher. It seems it is also happening with other launchers and not just Nova. Any further suggestions are welcome!

Heard about it.
Only some users with some devices are affected.
Unfortunately there seems to be not one generic solution.
For some users, the actions you have listed and tried already, could solve this issue.
Have you subscribed to the Nova beta program? Maybe there is an app updates available for Android 11.
